The 1st chapter is finally finished. I am sorry for keeping you all waiting, it's mainly because I need to write all of the characters information on the paper, then move to google docs, including a lot of reading for proofread. And another reason was I needed to look up all of the information in japanese culture and mythology, and what all characters wear. I typed some romanjīs, it's from the copy textbooks when I studied in college. All characters are mine, but Kimetsu no Yaiba belongs to Koyoharu Gotouge (you will understand why I put my favorite manga and anime series when you read it). So with that being said, enjoy the story~! ｡◕‿◕｡

Chapter 1

Late at night in late March, a group of priests and monks were patrolling the street in Kyoto. There was a report of sightings of yokai down the residents' streets and causing trouble, so they were investigating the area to figure out if it's malicious or mischievous entities. The Head Priest, a man in his early 40s dressed in light blue kariginu, on top of his head was black tate-eboshi, dark blue haori underneath his kariginu, and his footwear were white tabi and stray zori. He led his colleagues to the residents street, until his sixth sense picked up its presence as he lifted his hand up to signal them to halt. His facial appearance is mistaken for a young man, but signs of aging, his dark brown eyes, and black hair. They all stopped and cautious faces appeared, the high rank monk whispered, "Taiga-dono," he spoke to the Head Priest named Taiga Yamakawa, he only frowned, "Something isn't right Yosuke-dono," he muttered to his old friend named Yosuke Kiryū, who is in his early 40s with very little signs of aging, shaved head, and stern brown eyes. He was dressed in black loose robe with orange silk garnet over his left shoulder, wearing white tabi and straw zori.

Priests and monks used their sixth senses, eyes and ears for any ambush, they looked at the street where the supernatural essence was located. Taiga and Yosuke slowly walked towards the corner, only Yosuke and Taiga looked over the corner, there was a group of small onis gathered around and two middle aged men were stunned that it gathered the corpse of a young man with multiple stabs all over the torso. Worst of all, it has a pure evil aura around them. Taiga and Yosuke frowned to identify the yokai, then looked at their team, "It's Amanojaku, but their aura is a lot more evil than normal," Taiga whispered to them, the fellow priests and monks were nervous. Thankfully Yosuke settled them down, "Calm down, but remember the chant to weaken them, then exorcism them," he rest assured in a calm and stoic tone. Their fellow colleagues finally found their courage, so Yosuke glanced at Taiga with a small smile, "My fellow monks and I will go ahead, while you and your colleagues get ready for exorcism.

Quick and easy. I understand you want to go home early to have dinner Mitsuki made for you. She is going to be in the 1st year of high school," he said to him, Taiga smiled back. He felt bad for missing a dinner Mitsuki made, but she will save his dinner for him. Fellow monks and priests began to mutter, they heard of Mitsuki's name. The priests knew Taiga and Mitsuki weren't fully related by blood, but he was legal guardian to Mitsuki. Some of them saw her in person saying she has yokai roots of white wolf ears, tips of hair color, and unique eyes. Monks, on the other hand, heard she has spiritual power that is immense and can see the ghosts. They all begin to question themselves why Taiga was in guardianship with a soon to be high school girl with yokai traits, yet where does she come from and how does she have high spiritual power.

Taiga ignored their gossip, only nodded at Yosuke to lead his fellow monks. Yosuke silently gestures to them and says an enchanted prayer, causing the group of Amanojaku to screech and hold their heads. Taiga and his fellow priests pulled out ofuda and channeled their spiritual power into their paper talismans, right before they banished Amanojaku back to spirit world, all of sudden they all heard ferocious howls so loudly and awfully close, made monks stop chanting.

Alarming both humans and Amanojaku, one of the monks spoke out, "What was that?" "There is another yokai." "It sounded like a wolf." The monk spoke to another, in fear reaching some monks and priests' hearts, Amanojaku regained their strength and started attacking vulnerable monks and priests to implant their wicked hearts to kill each other by strangling each other to death or bashing their victims head against the cement wall or ground in unnatural strength. Taiga and Yosuke were fighting off, yet horrified to watch their fellow colleagues fighting each other because of Amanojaku. Before Yosuke began to enchant the sacred spell, they both picked up another presence coming closer, it's more sinister. They all heard the enraged growl from the darkness. Amanojaku and human survivors turned to the back, they could see glowing bloodlust red eyes with light red animal-like slit pupil as it stepped out of the darkness under the street light to reveal a large pure white wolf that was like a five feet and nine inches tall. The white beast looks muscular with its legs and barreled chest, the front of its legs looks human with sharp claws. The demonic white wolf's lips were lifted to reveal pearly white fangs, yet its four canine fangs are elongated and a lot sharper than the rest. Its red animal-like eyes focus on Amanojaku, the group of demon-like creatures who were terrified.

Taiga seems to notice this, "Why are Amanojaku afraid of the white wolf? Could it be?" He muttered, yet terrifying to see the large white wolf's presence. Noted Amanojaku's reaction, only daiyokai bring superior power upon lower ranks, so he put the puzzle pieces together. His dark brown eyes grew wide, "It can't be, I thought the legendary Emperor Kiba had died!" He raised his voice and at the same time, the white beast lounged at both monk and Amanojaku as its jaw chomp at Amanojaku's torso and sharp teeth tore it away from the monk's body. Its hand-like claws push the monk away in supernatural force, that impact the monk's back that bones can be heard and the broken sound of crack. Yosuke didn't even hesitate, "Everyone evacuated the area!" He shouts, both the surviving priests and monk get away from both the ferocious and intimidating beast and Amanojaku.

Amanojaku tried to fight back, but the white wolf overpowered them. Its human-shaped claws shred them in half, chomped in half by sharp fangs, and bash their head against the concrete road or brick wall. Taiga never saw this beast so brutal and bloodthirsty. The blood was matted pure white fur and organs all over the road. As the last Amanojaku was down, the white wolf placed it's human-shaped paw on it's skull, it gave the demon-like imp what it looked like a sadistic smirk base on it's lip line curled. In terror, Amanojaku let out a last screech as the beast's weight pressed down to crush the demon-like head like a can. The head was splattered to show the brain, crushed skull, and large amount of blood. Taiga grew horrified by the bloodbath and felt his vomit coming up from his throat.

Yosuke was shaken, but grabbed his sacred sutra from his robe, "Back you foul beast!" He shouts as he steps forward. The white wolf lifted it's head towards the head monk as it out the lowly growl. Its bloodlust red eyes focus on him, its pupils dilated as Taiga noticed. The white wolf turned its bloodlust red towards Taiga, however Yosuke spoke out, "Taiga-dono, you must flee and return to the group, and inform the police!" He shouts at his friend, Taiga snapped his terror thought and looked at him. He couldn't leave his friend facing the beast alone. Yosuke noticed his hesitation, "Just go, I hate to think Mitsuki will feel sad if you are killed!" He shouts, unknowingly the white wolf perked its ears and slightly lifted its wolf head towards Yosuke. Taiga bit his cheek, torn to let his friend die by the beast's hand-like claw or help him. He had to agree with Yosuke, he didn't want Mitsuki to end up alone and sad. He gulped and nodded, "Please survive my friend," he begged him to live, Yosuke smiled and looked at the white wolf, it slowly took the step as it snarled. Taiga backed away and fled the scene. Leaving Yosuke and the white beast facing each other. Last thing he heard was a louder roar.

Taiga regrouped with both monks and priests, then reported the body to the police. Unfortunately, when they all arrived at the bloody scene, there were no signs of Yosuke and white wolf. Taiga was worried, yet terrifying of seeing a large beast. The police took the photos, collecting both evidence and bodies, then asked both traumatizing priests and monks what they saw. However, seeing how terrified they were, the police allowed them to leave, but wanted them to come to the police station tomorrow. One of the chief recognized Taiga as he purchased apple juice from the vending machine, "Yamakawa-dono." He greeted him, Taiga weakly turned his head towards the chief officer, Ryō Kūga. Ryō, in late 40s in navy blue business suits and black ties, short black hair and natural brown eyes, handed him a pet bottle of apple juice, Taiga muttered, thanking him as he twisted the bottle cap and sip the apple juice down his dry throat. Ryō was about to fish out his cigarettes, but he stopped himself as he looked up to the dark, "You don't believe that legends have returned." He said to him, Taiga frowned and took a deep breath as he looked at his feet, "No, the dead cannot return. I… Kūga-san, tonight is horrific. I don't know what happened to Yosuke-dono, but after seeing a white wolf and what it did was brutal." he said before he weakly croaked to think of white wolf tearing Amanojaku apart. Ryō softens his brown eyes, then pat the head priest's shoulder, "I understand, I will give you some time to recover. Please get some rest, and I might need you to tell me everything tomorrow. Okay, I am sure hōshi-sama will be back," he replied and got up and joined his colleagues. Taiga looked at Ryō's figure from the distance, he's right he needs to rest and Yosuke will return soon. He finished the drink and threw it in a pet bottle trash bin and solemnly walked away from the crime scene and headed to his home and shrine temple.

Climbing up the stairs and walking past the torī and Yamakawa Shrine, he tiredly looked up, the house light was off. He walked to the entrance and opened the door. He entered the house and closed the door, then locked the door. He took off his straw zori, and set it in front facing the door, next to his straw sandal was black penny loafers. He picked up the slippers and put them on his feet. He headed to the table near the kitchen, he noticed the plates on the table covered in plastic wrapper with a pink note with MyMelody face. He approach the table and pick up the note, he reads it with a warm smile:

"I saved your dinner tonight, please help yourself before you go to sleep. See you in the morning~. -Mitsuki"

Taiga couldn't help, but smile to bless the child he has taken very good care of and raised her well. He looked at the plate: a bowl of white rice, bowl of miso soup with wakame and soft tofu, lettuce with cucumber, broccoli, and shredded carrot, and the main dish was sliced tonkatsu with shredded cabbages on the side with a small amount of tonkatsu sauce. Once again, he felt blessed for her looking after him and making sure he eats well. He decides to change first, so he leaves the dining table and heads upstairs. He walked past one room with Mitsuki's name plate hanging on the door, then he entered his own room to change his head priest outfit to pajamas. Few minutes later he exits his room with fully dressed light blue pajamas, and heads downstairs to the dining table. He removed the plastic wrap off the dinner meal, he picked up both bowls of rice and miso soup and put them in the microwave to warm up the meal. He picked up the glass, and headed to the fridge to pick up cold oolong tea, then pour it down from the glass. He put the oolong tea back in the fridge, then he carefully drank it until it's empty. He looked at the window, concerned about Yosuke, "Is he going to be back alive and well? But Kūga-san was right, he should turn up soon," he thought then shook his head that Yosuke would be back. He knew his old friend fought against yokai and dealt with stubborn spirits. The microwave made the musical sound to tell him it's ready, he set the empty glass down in the sink. He opened the microwave and picked up both bowls of rice and miso soup, then closed it by the back of his palm. He walked towards the table and sat on his chair, he set the bowls down. He clapped his hands, "Itadakimasu," he said quietly, so he wouldn't wake Mitsuki up because tomorrow was her first day of her 1st year of high school, so she needs to wake up early to prepare for making bentos for lunch and breakfast for both of them. He picked up his chopstick and began eating his dinner.

Unknownst to him, from the distance from the forest, the bloodlust red eyes were watching Taiga enter the house. The blood matted white wolf was staring at the house as the light turned off, signs of Taiga Yamakawa went to sleep. Its eyes glowed and shifted its dilated pupil because he caught a familiar scent all over the shrine ground, "I need to confirm if that faint scent is really what I think it is, in person." the deep demonic voice sounds like a man in it- no his thoughts. He let out a huff as he turned around and gave his wolf head a one last look at the Yamakawa resident. He turned his head back to the forest, he left both the shrine temple and house alone before he darted off into the darkness.

The alarm hits at 6:00 a.m. as it beeps in Mitsuki's bedroom, the feminine hand reaches from her soft crimson blanket to the clock to snooze the alarm. Mitsuki, a small young girl in age of fifteen with white wolf ears on top of her straight mid chest length pure black hair with red tip hime-cut yawning, slowly sat up from her bed to run her tired eyes, then stretch her arms. Her eyes slowly open and blinking to reveal her featureless silver blue eyes, she slings her legs off of her bed, then she walks towards the closed curtains to reach her arm to slide it open to let her bedroom hit the morning sunlight. She smiled and stared at the morning dawn as the ray of sun hit the torī and the main shrine. She turned around and walked to her bed to fix her bed, and she exited out of her bedroom. She saw Taiga, fully clothed in traditional japanese priest, walk out of his master bedroom, she smiled brightly, "Good morning Ō-kannushi-dono," she politely greeted him.

Mitsuki wasn't related to Taiga by blood, but he raised her when she was a baby and became her legal guardian. She didn't know who her biological parents were, only a clue she had from him was that her biological mother handed her to Taiga and told him to keep her safe, then she's gone and never returned. She kept her mother's maiden name, Kokoromi, although Taiga did promise her that he will explain what happened to her biological parents when she's old enough. He mentioned it wasn't good for a very young age, however she understood and was patient until he felt ready.

Taiga heard her and gave her a warm and tired smile, "Good morning Mitsuki, and I am so sorry for not eating dinner together last night, it was a rough night. Aside from that, thank you for the meal, it was delicious," he greeted her as he both apologized and thanked her for the dinner. Mitsuki's smile grew brighter for his praise, "Your welcome, we can talk about it during breakfast. After I change my clothes and wash my face," she replied and she headed downstairs to the washroom. Taiga smiled and heading downstairs to the foyer, he put on his straw zori and walked towards the door to open it. He walked past the large shrine and torī, then he walked down the stone stairs to pick up the newspaper from the mailbox. He tucked the newspaper underneath his right white hitoe sleeves, and heading back for reading the news paper and breakfast.

Mitsuki exits the washroom, and heads back to her bedroom while brushing her hair to change her black Kuromi long sleeves pajama and matching long pajama pants to her winter high school uniform. She wore black long sleeves sailor fuku with black sailor-style collar blouse with a thin white line around the collar, tied around the collar was a navy blue neckerchief, knee length black with navy blue plaid knee length skirt, and calf length white socks. Her black outer uniform coat remains at the hanger, along with a navy blue scarf, so she will put them on before she leaves for school. After she properly put on her sailor fuku and make sure she looks professional and appropriate. She brushes her hair for one last touch, then she heads back to the washroom to set her brush back in the drawer. She walked to the kitchen and grabbed her hair tie to tie her hair to a low ponytail. She checked the clock, it's 6:26 a.m., so she has time to make a bento for Taiga and herself. She tapped her finger on her chin to think of what to make for lunch, then she snapped her fingers and smiled, "I know, rice with umeboshi, tamagoyaki, some lettuce with cherry tomatoes on top, kabocha, and karaage will be our lunch today," she thought cheerfully and head to the fridge to open it to grab many ingredients she can before she closed it. She checked the rice in the rice cooker to make sure there is enough for both lunch and breakfast. When it's enough, she reheats the rice from the rice cooker, and starts cooking the meal. Her white wolf ears picked up Taiga's footsteps, she took a glance at him, he's sitting down on his chair and reading the newspaper. She refocused on heating the pan and put on a little bit of oil, "How was the last night patrol?" she asked him about the last night. Taiga sighed sadly, while reading the headline of crime scene of yokai attack and sight of white wolf, "Amanojaku killed the unfortunate young man, Yosuke-dono and I lost our colleagues because of their wicked heart, I never saw Amanojaku that aggressive. Yosuke-dono was about to banish them back to their spirit world, but we encountered a white wolf." he replied to her. Mitsuki senses his distress, while flipping the egg to make tamagoyaki and pushing it to the edge. "I thought the legendary wolf emperor died a long time ago." she pointed out and poured more egg over the pan. Looks like she will join the funerals to give fellow fallen priests a proper funerals. He nodded weakly, "He supposed to be, unless that's his son, but why now? What's even worse, Yosuke-dono was facing the White Wolf and he asked me to flee to get the police. When we came back, they were gone. Kūga-san told me he may come back," he said to her about Yosuke disappearance, Mitsuki sharply turned her head towards him with a shock and her hand covered her lips. She grew worried, she never met him in person, but heard a lot of good things about him from Taiga. She heard about the legendary Emperor Kiba from her legal guardian from the bedtime story. He continues to read the newspaper, "Anyway, I have to stop by the police station today for witness testimony for the crime scene," he informed her. She lowered her hand as she nodded, "Okay." she replied and looked at tamagoyaki, and she continued to make the bento and breakfast. The rice cooker made a musical sound to alert her that it's done. She opened the rice cooker, and served the rice for each bento box, and put the umeboshi on top of it, then closed the rice cooker to keep it warm for breakfast. She set the bento with umeboshi on top of rice aside, then sliced the well done tamagoyaki and put it on another bento box each. Adding karaage and lettuce with cherry tomatoes on top, next to it was two kabocha. Taiga's bento box is simple gray with gray plastic cover to cover the rice, her bento box was red with pink cherry blossom design, with black plastic over the rice and tamagoyaki. She leaves it open to cool down, then serves breakfast. She made cooked salmon with soy sauce and grinded daikon, salad with cucumber and sliced tomato, she poured the remaining miso soup from last night, so she can finish it and clean the pot. "I will wipe the table for you, and grab the ohashi. I will clean the dishes, you just serve breakfast," said Taiga to assist and gave her a warm smile. Mitsuki looked back and smiled back, "Oh my, thank you so much Ō-kannushi-dono, but you don't have to," she thanked him, but wanted to clean the dishes. Taiga shook his head and picked up the two chopsticks with chopstick clay tip rest, and damp the towel, "I insist, you have school. Plus, I came home late last night, so I will do you a favor." he insisted and exited the kitchen to wipe the table, and set the chop stick down with clay to set the tip on top of it. Mitsuki couldn't argue, but smiled back and served breakfast.

"I am sure Kiryū-dono will come back safe." said Mitsuki while eating her meal, she removed her hair tie before eating. Taiga set the newspaper down, he let out a hum and ate the salmon. He looked at his plate, "Kūga-san thought the same, but I don't know about the White Wolf. I might need to think about curfew for you, if this beast poses a threat to Kyoto. I will give you ōfudas to defend yourself tomorrow," he said and thought of making a curfew. Mitsuki rolled her silver blue eyes for curfew rule, but she gave him an amusing smile, he's only doing that to keep her safe like her biological mother wanted him to do. He looked at her as he remembered something, "Before I forget, how was your sixth sense doing?" He asked her about her sixth sense. She stopped herself from picking up the small amount of rice, then she looked at him. Her sixth sense was improving and she could see the spirits, and communicate with them to help them move on. She didn't understand why she had it, but she had it when she was very young. She was afraid of what people thought of her at first, but she grew to accept her gift. Even her childhood friend found her gift interesting. "It's become more enhanced, but I am improving my spiritual power." She replied of her spiritual power status before she finished all her meal. Taiga nodded in approval, "That's good, I am glad you are improving it," he complimented her. Mitsuki set her chopsticks down, and clapped her hands together, "Gochisōsamadeshita." She politely thanked her meal and picked up her plates and headed to the kitchen to set them in the sink. She closed both bentos, and put matching chopsticks on top of the bento box. She wrapped the cloth over the bento. She set both the wrapped bento boxes on the table. Taiga did insist that he will clean the dishes. She heads back to the washroom to brush her teeth, and brush her hair again. She finished brushing her teeth, and exited the washroom to her bedroom to pack her textbooks, workbook, pencil cases, notebooks, and Kimetsu no Yaiba wallet of Kamado Tanjiro, she bought it from official merchandise, in her school navy blue shoulder bag. She put her neatly folded gym clothes in her school bag, and brought two extra shoes, a white sneakers, and white uwabaki slipper for school indoors. Her school bag has an omamori with the kanji word for Gakugyō-jōju as a good luck charm for her education. It also has various keychains from both bands she likes, and anime and manga, but she lessened it because she didn't want to over decorate it. Taiga starts cleaning the dishes, "Thank you for making a bento box for me." He called out to thank her kindly. Her sensitivity hearing from her white wolf ears perked a little, she softly smiled, "You're welcome!" She replied back, grabbed her black blazer from her hanger to put it over her black sailor fuku, then buttoned them up. She picked up her fully charged smartphone and set it on a low ring, and house keys, and put it in a small pocket in her school bag. She exits out of her room, and heads back to the dining table, and picks up her bento box, and puts it in her school bag. She looked at Taiga and smiled, then waved, "Ittekimasu." She said a farewell and headed to the foyer to put on her black penny loafer. Taiga exited the kitchen to the foyer and wiped his hand with a used towel, he smiled back, "Itterasshai." he replied as Mitsuki opened the front door, and closed the door once she's outside. Mitsuki walked down the stone ground and walked down the stairs. She continued to smile and walked down the street, heading to high school.

The beginning of this chapter focuses on Yamakawa Taiga, Kiryū Yosuke, and Kūga Ryō, who are important characters with information to main characters. Now we meet one of the protagonists, Kokoromi Mitsuki; other main protagonists will soon be introduced in the next chapter. If you guys spot Kimetsu no Yaiba, then you understand why I put it in the description, if that counts. I found a few online merchandise stores, not on amazon or ebay. It said it as official website (I am naïve, so I don't know which one, besides Crunchyroll)

So who is this White Wolf and what is he talking about? Is he really a legend, who has returned from the dead, his own son, or an imposter? What happened to the fight between Yosuke and White Wolf, and where is Yosuke? We will find out in the next chapter. Leave the review and follow this story for more chapters, the new chapter will take a while for me to think and brain storm the storyline.
