Today Amelia would take him on an extended tour of Fluerrh City. After the capture of the mole they had some time for themselves and already know how to spend it. She'd have to disguise herself to walk in own town due to her status but it's a sacrifice willing to make if she got to go out of the house without any aid but Ash. Sure Ash has been spotted entering and exiting her house but she was going to pretend she's a good friend coming to visit him from out of town and she was 'busy' dealing with the aftermath of the attack. Amelia will use a tunnel to avoid seeing leaving by the front door and ruin her ruse immediately. The plan in place Ash knocked on her door.
"Amelia, are you ready?" He really wanted to get out with her after being locked for the previous days. Wondering how the scrapes on her arm were healing he was relieved it was the only thing she caught.
"Just need a minute!" He waited patiently for her as told. Ash heard the knob turn and Amelia stepped out in her disguise and posed in front of him.
"Today, you can call me Amy. What do you think?"
Compared to her normal look she dressed much more casual in Ash's style. 'Amy' was wearing a light yellow shirt with a pink Pokeball logo and light blue sleeves. Her miniskirt was yellow and black stockings covered her legs as she wore light blue and white shoes. Her hairstyle changed from her flowing hair done up into a ponytail with a yellow hairband keeping it up. A small white sun cap and glasses made the look complete. Again looking to him amazing she has a gift of making it work. His attention was drawn to her new hairstyle.
"I like your hair. That ponytail looks great on you."
"Thank you…I don't get to wear it much because my sunhat won't fit then." She liked the ponytail but when it came to her carefully crafted image the hat was more important. Ash pondered over it taking a queue from when his old companion Dawn dressed up for Contests with multiple styles.
"Then…maybe you can do it like that during your Showcases? I think it will look great when you're skating. The crowd will love it, I certainly would."
"Maybe I need to find a new hat." Amelia withholding a blush she'll certainly wear it like that in the next Showcase for him. Her look great something was off to him. If you asked him to play a word game to describe her without saying her name it be one of the noticeable things to come up.
"I'm kind of surprised to not see you in purple."
"Everyone knows purple is my favorite color. I'm afraid they'll pick me out the moment they see me, that's why I picked yellow." In Fluerrh City if there was combination of purple and pink it usually was Amelia. Understanding it would take some getting used to.
"Ready to head out?"
"Yes. We'll meet at the exit." Amelia disappeared into an escape tunnel with Ash going outside to meet her at the exit. Amelia was to going to arise just out of town and he'd meet her at a flower shop on the edge of it.
The moment he got out of the Valeur estate he got swarmed by people asking questions about the state of the family
"What is the damage?"
"Is the family ok?"
"Are there injuries? Will Amelia be able to make it to her next Showcase?"
Ash was the center of attention as information out the house was scarce. The people demanding the right to know Ash pushed himself through the crowd and ran into an alley trying to hide from the demanding mob. Finding an old cardboard box he can fit himself and Pikachu in he hid in it as the mob passed by him.
"I should've disguised myself as well."
Not being able to go out in the streets his day with Amelia was cancelled. Running back to the Valuer house he took his Rotom phone and texted her.
Not having a range to her phone she felt it buzz after leaving the tunnel heading to the flower shop. Ash texted her and she opened his message over what he's been through. Amelia sighed annoyed with the residents. Her special day ruined she wished for escape to a place where her hometown reputation didn't follow her. Her thumbs moving over the screen she texted back.
"A miscalculation on my part. I'll return through the tunnel."
"So…that didn't go well."
The two met up again at her house at the entry of the tunnel. Bummed they missed their day out Ash tried to look on the bright side.
"There's enough to do here in your house right?"
"Not with the repairs going on." Amelia's dance studio structural integrity was being checked by contractors. The area closed off practice was off not to mention everyone of the staff was still on clean up duty. Not much to do and not wishing to get in the way of everyone doing repairs it was turning out to be a boring afternoon.
Amelia's mother came to check on them having heard from one of the servants they were back already. Seeing her daughter in anything but her high end dress of purple was a strange sight and it told her just how much Amelia would go out of her way to satisfy her guest. He truly has an effect to even make her break the rules of not chasing a thief barging out of the house despite most people's protest.
"Children?"
"Mother." Amelia greeting her still looking sad.
"Back already?" The two explained the situation. Louise nodded as she heard it.
"Hmm…unfortunate. It makes sense since you are quite unique." She looked at Ash which he didn't understand. He thought he was just a normal person looking for adventure and battles that somehow qlways rounded up in Team Rocket's plans.
"Unique?"
"You see, we had guests before but none stayed as long as you. You're not dressed as a staff member and you're always spotted with Amelia. With how important she is it makes the city gossip about you."
The press always having a piece open in the papers for the city's most important family the explosion was today's front page. Fluerrh City curious about the family they all wanted to know what purpose the out of town trainer has with them and if they should worry. Some even whispering that he's an undercover agent to protect them as he had a hand in capturing the betraying servant or in the most spicy of rumors, Amelia's chosen loved one.
"Gossip? What does that mean?" Ash not getting the word Amelia relieved. Having a good eye on maintaining her good reputation here she was glad Ash did not read the rumors about the two and deny them.
"You don't read the local tabloids do you?" Ash shook no not interested in it.
"Let's keep it that way." Amelia not wanting him to be pressured and get carried away by the rumors by admitting he liked her more than so far implied.
"It seems like a lost day and your father is fully focused on getting information out of Karin." Charles and Olivier trying to get more out of Karin interrogating her he wasn't much of a presence. Still with the children stuck here and her daughter's Showcase approaching Louise wanted to support them both not getting distracted as they were lately.
"You should at least be productive. Let us handle the fallout of Karin's betrayal. You both have dealt with enough."
Grateful for their help they shouldn't have to do more. An idea popping up she did want Amelia out of the house for a bit for their own good.
"May I suggest you take him to our summer home?" An escape from Fluerrh City and a place to retreat to if matters get overwhelming. The hot weather and lack of ice might be an issue but Louise knows both youngsters were determined to make it work.
"It gives you privacy since other regions aren't as privy into our affairs and to practice your Performance from prying eyes."
Amelia thought it was a good plan. A safe haven only the most trusted staff members and allies knew about she can spend as much time with Ash as she wanted and how she wanted it.
"If Ash would…"
"You don't have to ask me. I'm happy to come along. Let's go already!"
Excited to leave the business of Fluerrh City behind for a bit they got ready as they packed the necessities for the trip. All settled and ready to go in the morning they will take a car being driven by Amelia's aid Alfonzo and go to the nearest airport to be flown to their destination. For now they settled into bed getting a goodnights sleep.
"Ash!"
His name being yelled he looked at who said it. A small blonde girl with a bang sticking out on top of her head had a tiny orange Pokémon on her lap and blue eyes stood on the chair snapping her fingers in front of his face waking him up. Next to her was another blonde with blue eyes with big glasses and a blue jumpsuit to boot. He recognized Bonnie and Clemont and wondered why they were here.
Looking around he was no longer in the Valuer guest room. A yellow stage with multi colored lights gave it a grand feeling of showmanship and elegance. A wild crowd around them he heard whispers of Amelia's name and how good she looked in the first round hoarding Rhyhorn to best her competition. Looking down again he had Pikachu on his lap but his clothes were a dark shade of blue with a white pattern on his chest running down the middle and long pants
"The Fluerrh City Showcase? The place where I saw Amelia for the first time?"
Technically the second time as the first was when she left her house but they didn't pay attention to each other. This was before they knew the other person and even before his Kalos League.
"You're finally up! I can't believe I'm saying this but be more like my brother." Bonnie telling Ash at least Clemont didn't nap off in a place like this she failed to spot the nerves and worry her brother has for their female travelling companion. The lights dimmed out and the voice of Monsieur Pierre sounded through the arena.
"Please welcome Amelia!"
Just as he came to know her she stood with confidence on stage directing attention to her and her Pokémon. A roaring crowd around him he smiled at her popularity and that they were not going to be disappointed knowing what was coming.
The Performance played out exactly as he remembered. Using her Dragonair to float over the stage while Espeon provided support with her dancing and like a pro she dazzled the audience. A new found appreciation of the first time she practiced her art in front of him the rest of the Showcase played out with Serena going last.
After her all Performers and Pokémon stood on stage. Monsieur Pierre told the audience to vote with Ash also holding his light ready to press the button for his favorite act. Amelia was great but Serena's was slightly better. Not much of a difference between the pair he would eventually vote for his friend at the time and not the yet unknown heir.
The time to vote arriving the crowd pressed the button for their choice. Lights flew from their casters into the special keys the Performers wore on their dresses. The votes counted the result was the same. Serena still won the Showcase but instead of Bonnie grabbing his collar and shaking him out of happiness she glared at him.
"Ash! How are you going to explain to Serena you didn't vote for her!?"
His glow caster was shining green meaning his light went into Amelia's tally. For some inexplicable reason he voted for the heir he barely knew at the time and not his travelling companion being in the running for her final key. Words failing him to tell Bonnie why he did what he did he blacked out.
The area around him now was dark but he can make hints of it. The extremely comfy bed and pillows he heard a light snoring coming from Pikachu on the foot end. He reached out with his left looking for a light switch as a faint light began to burn and illuminated his surroundings. He was still in Fluerrh City but in the guest room and not the Showcase hall.
Looking for a hint of the time he saw it was only 3:30 am. Realizing his dream is a memory slightly altered he laid his head on the pillow thoughts racing through his head. Not that he's going to sleep with the dream he just had.
"Did my finger slip off the button?"
Back then he made doubly sure his finger was glued on the pink button for Serena not letting go till it glowed for his companion. The same preparations done in the dream it still glowed green for Amelia. Serena won but it was even closer than before. Still dream Bonnie had a point. How was he going to tell Serena his vote didn't go to her and that would be the reason she barely lost if things went different.
"It was close and one vote can make a difference. Yeah, that's it. Just a warning not to mess up when the voting comes for Amelia's Snowbelle City Showcase."
Deducing it was a warning coming from someone or thing to pay attention and not get carried away in his constant support and praise for Amelia and mess up. She probably wouldn't forgive him if after all he did he changed his mind at the last moment.
With Amelia's first Showcase haunting through his head more than any Ghost type ever did he turned the light off again not to disturb Pikachu and turned round in bed. No longer able to sleep he just laid down keeping his excitement to see the Valuer summer home and to finally spend some time with Amelia again as he suddenly felt his face grow warmer.
Still not caught up and another segway.
This time Amelia haunting Ash worse than Gengar ever did. What does the dream mean?
Later.
