Halloween Murders

Chapter Three

Doctor Syndey Perlmutter wiped his eyes from the tiredness he was facing after finishing up the autopsy on the male body now sitting in the cooler. He was glad in a way that his shift was almost over after finishing up the report. It had already been sent to Inspector Victoria Gates staying overtime for an hour before Captain Jose Anderson arrives.

One thing was for sure Mayor Adams wasn't going to like it one bit knowing that a killer was on the loose now after dumping the body at the Manhattan Ice Rink. He had been sitting in his office after speaking with the press in regard to another matter for the city.

Meanwhile, on close circuit camera, he had been a fan of the mystery writer Richard Castle and his Nikki Heat novels. He was listening to the questions that were directed at the writer. He had been answering them with ease even though tiring at times.

The last questions were coming up. While the killer had been waiting for his target sitting next to him to be leaving for the evening.

When he did finally get up from his seat. He had gotten up as well to see where he was going slowly moving to see that his target will leave out the back entrance for where his Blue Mercedes parked four rows back. Taking his time with leaving the Barnes & Noble bookstore. The killer slowly started up his own vehicle.

Moving out of the parking lot with traffic on the main road. His target will be heading for his apartment complex three blocks away from the bookstore. He lives alone with his black &Gold kitten recently purchase from the local pet shop.

Finding a spot in the back lot of the apartment complex with the lights now on the skies darkening with the threat of possible rain.

Making sure that his Mercedes was shut down properly knowing about the recent crime rate climbing in the area and Manhattan. Meanwhile, the killer had parked as well staying back hiding somewhat watching him moving inside with the back door wasn't locked.

After moving out of his station wagon. He moved inside to check the mailboxes to give him the information on where he was located at this particular time.

Noticing his name on the mailbox to be living on the fourth floor at 4 D under the name of Jerry Robbs since he used an alias at the Barnes & Noble bookstore.

He takes the elevator with no one inside with the silence of being inside until the door opens to have him move out with only one of the residents a female walking past him. The older woman no doubt in her sixties with all platinum hair up into a bun as if she was heading out to go shopping.

Meanwhile, Jerry Robbs was down the hallway near a stairwell. The killer hiding from the camera. He had pulled out his small revolver filled to the brim.

He was able to hear music being played as if he was a fan of Country Western. Pulling out his lockpick into his hand having to be able to learn in prison after spending 15 years for the murder of the Danbury, Ct. police officer.

Jerry was sitting his back to the front door of his apartment listening to Dotty Parton and others as the killer moved slowly inside. No one was in the hallway at the moment as he has the revolver in his hand Robbs heard a noise as he turns his head to see the figure.

He didn't have the chance to say anything at all as the revolver fired three times into his skull and chest to drop his body back onto the brown long-stemmed couch.

The killer didn't bother to check the body for any life even though with three bullets in his body. He had to leave the apartment without having to be noticed. What he had forgotten was the fact that there were cameras inside the hallway as he moved quickly out of the apartment with no one around.

He was able to find the stairway to lead downstairs and to the parking lot...
