To See Her Again
It was a clear night; the moon was bright and full. A figure sat in a tree branch outside a window. He had golden eyes, silver hair, and white dog-ears. He had been there for hours contemplating whether or not to see a long lost love he had never forgotten.
It had been so long since he last saw her. She had left so suddenly. He thought he'd never see her again. When the well closed up and he couldn't get to her, it felt like he'd never breath again. Her absence caused him severe sorrow, sadness, and depression.
Finally building up enough nerve, he opened the window with a determined expression. He stepped onto the floor softly, making sure not to wake the occupants in the next room. He slowly walked over towards the person he wanted to see most in the world, and gazed down at her.
"Hi Kagome."
There laying in a cradle was a newborn baby girl, who was quite awake. Yes he had waited...he had waited almost five hundred years to see her again. It had been hard to survive that five hundred years without her, but every single day he would remind him self that he was getting closer to seeing her again. That had gotten him through what felt like an eternity.
With the progress of time he had changed very little. He still looked exactly the same as he did then and still wore the enchanted rosary that bond him to her, but he now wore modern clothes everyday, and now understood what a rocket was.
Kagome happily watched him, just as he did her, making the cooing sounds babies do. She looked so small and delicate, with giddy and innocent eyes that he remembered her having and the chubby arms and legs, with one such limb currently reaching out to him. He carefully offered her a finger and watched her tiny fingers playfully grab it with a squeaky laugh.
He could hardly believe this little baby would grow up to be his Kagome. The Kagome that would fall down a well and him back his soul, the one that would fight demons and collect jewel shards, and the one that he would fall in love with and make him feel like he actually belonged somewhere.
He must have stayed there for hours just watching her. God how he missed her. He stayed there until he heard her mother stirring about to wake up. He leaped onto the window sill taking one last glance at her sleeping form, promising to return but he would stay out of sight as he watched over her, before he disappeared into the night.
