I Hate You Cause I Love You

A Wonnykins Production

"You lose again, Jari-boii. Face it, you're a loser." Shigeru smirked, seeing the look of rage on Satoshi's features.

"I'll beat you one day, Shigeru! Just you wait! I'm not a loser! I'll show you!"

Shigeru yawned. "Yeah, yeah, whatever. Get out of my way, Los Lonely Loser; I've got more important things to do then look at you."

He strode past, cheerleaders in tow. He was nearly out of sight when he heard someone call him.

"Shigeru!"

He turned. Satoshi was standing on the hilltop, looking frustrated and upset.

"Make it quick, Jari-boii. I have to get home and tell Grand-dad I beat you again. He needs some sleep."

"WHY DO YOU HATE ME SO MUCH!"

Shigeru faltered. There was a question he didn't hear everyday. The snotty smirk slid off his face.

He swallowed. "Why wouldn't I?" There, that wasn't a lie. Well, maybe a little one...

He watched a tear roll down Satoshi's cheek. "I haven't done anything to you, Shigeru! Nothing! I'm so tired of getting hurt for something I didn't do!" He sniffled, bowing his head and wiping his eyes.

Shigeru shifted uncomfortably. His cheerleaders were watching the younger boy cry, looking worried. He turned to them briefly.

"Hey, go on ahead. I'll be there in a second." He said, softly. The girls nodded, walking on, throwing Satoshi worried looks over their shoulders.

Shigeru made sure they were gone before approaching the other boy.

"You don't need to make a scene, Jari-boii."

Satoshi wiped his eyes again. "Why not? Don't I have that right?"

Shigeru looked behind the dark-haired boy. Where his little entourage of friends once stood was an empty space. Little Satoshi was all by himself, nowadays. His friends had all moved back to their homes. He was lonely.

"Why did you ask me why I hate you?" Shigeru asked, turning his green eyes back to the shorter boy.

"Because I hate when I don't know why you treat me like I'm dirt. I haven't done anything to you." Satoshi muttered. He sniffed again.

Shigeru hesitated before taking a kerchief from his pocket. He lifted Satoshi's chin and dried the boy's eyes.

"What are you doing?" Satoshi asked, confused.

Shigeru stuffed the handkerchief back into his pocket and shoved his hands into them.

"So, what have I done to you?" Satoshi waited for the reply.

"...Nothing." Shigeru mumbled.

Satoshi blinked. "Then why do you treat me like I did?"

Shigeru looked up, then over to the side. "Um..." This was really uncomfortable...

"I think I deserve to know." Satoshi whispered. Shigeru nodded. He stood up straight, looking Satoshi in the face.

"Yeah, you do, I guess."

Shigeru walked up to him, until he was only half a foot from him. He leaned over, kissing Satoshi's cheek softly before pulling back. He took a step backwards.

"I hate you because...I love you." He turned, walking away.

Satoshi stared. He raised a hand to his cheek.

Shigeru felt someone latch onto his arm.

"Can I hate you, too?"

Shigeru just smiled.
