Chapter 65.
Mike couldn't help but smile when he read Harvey's text. He dialed the man's number.
"Mike? I was sleeping." Harvey answered after the third signal and Mike smiled again at the sound of his voice.
"Is that all you do when I'm gone, huh?"
"It's you who worn me out." Harvey grunted. "How are you? How were the side effects?"
"It was the usual. I'm good now. I was worried about you though." Mike said honestly.
Harvey was quiet for a while. "You don't have to be. I just have a cold Mike." He then said.
"They said it was the flu."
"It's a cold now."
"So, you feel better then?"
"That's what twelve hours of sleep does to normal people, make them feel better."
"What's that suppose to mean?"
"That I'm normal. Now, are you going to keep me from getting back to sleep much longer?"
Mike smiled again and they said goodbye.
"So, he's doing better then?" Donna stood in the doorway in a robe and two cups of tea in her hands.
"Yes. Good morning Donna."
They had breakfast and talked for a while. Donna asked him a bit about his sleeping habits, and he told her all he could come up with about it. It felt good to talk to her. He told her other stuff too and she listened closely and came with advice and was able to cheer him up. Then she convinced him to play a few boardgames. He stayed another night with her but after that Harvey claimed that he was healed. All he had was a fever he said. Mike managed to convince Donna to take him back to Harvey's place. Of course, there were a few conditions he had to follow. He was to keep his distance from Harvey and wear the mask when he was in the same room as Harvey. Donna had called his doctor first to have it approved.
"He wasn't all that happy but understanding." She said.
When they arrived at the condo, Donna had Mike put on more clothes and placed him out on the balcony for an hour or two while she cleaned away Harvey's germs. Mike wasn't sure it worked that way, but he wasn't cold and had his iPad, so he didn't complain. He was let back inside after she was satisfied and had made sure the mask was in place. She had decided to stay a couple of days to supervise them.
"There is no need for that Donna." Harvey muttered where he was on the couch. Mike had taken a chair opposite of him.
"That's not up to you." She called from the kitchen.
"You would think it was, since this is my place." Harvey muttered turned to Mike. He laughed until he glanced over and met Donna's eyes.
"Don't argue with her." Mike whispered. Harvey just groaned and closed his eyes.
Donna had decided to make them dinner, so she was making soup. "Something that you two sick people should be able to eat without complains."
They didn't dare to complain, even if it looked like Harvey wanted to do just that after his first spoon.
They ended up back on the couch after dinner.
"Are you really doing as well as you are claiming?" Mike asked Harvey and studied him critically. He was slumped down on the couch and had his eyes closed. He looked pale as well.
"Mike…Be quite." Harvey shushed him.
"I'm just wondering if you are trying to con us or not?"
"I'm trying to sleep."
Mike rolled his eyes and stood up to find Donna. "Fine." He said.
It felt good to be here again. It had been nice at Donna's place, but this was his home. He kept Donna company for a bit but then went to his room with his iPad.
A few hours he could hear voices from the living room. It sounded like Donna was trying to calm Harvey down. He got up and went to investigate.
"See!" Donna said as he walked into the room. "There he is Harvey, I told you he was fine."
"Mike!" Harvey panted. His voice sounded strange and Mike approached him.
"No, Mike. Go back to you room please."
"Donna…"
"You are not wearing a mask. I'll deal with Harvey." He could see that her smile was forced. He didn't say anything though, just looked again at Harvey's distressed face and went back to his room. The knot of worry in his stomach was back. Something was wrong with Harvey.
Donna came an hour later. She closed the door behind her and sat down on the chair next to Mike's bed.
"He is sleeping." She said.
"What's wrong with him?"
"He has a fever that is quite high."
Mike nodded and waited.
"He dreamt that you were gone." Donna said quietly.
"You could have just gotten me." Mike said. "I want to help."
"I know you do, but I worry enough about Harvey right now for that Mike."
"You're worried?"
"No, it's just a fever. But Mike, I'm not sure it's good for you to stay here."
"Well, I'm not leaving so…"
Donna sighed. "I know."
"Sorry. If you are tired you can go home. I'll look after Harvey. I'm feeling pretty okay."
"Mike, what did I just say?"
"That you want me to leave, but it's just a fever like you said, and I'll wear the mask the whole time."
Donna still looked hesitant.
"I need to head to the office for a while tomorrow." She said. "Consider that your trial period."
Mike smiled. "Okay."
Donna got Harvey off the couch when they were having dinner. You could clearly see that he wasn't feeling well, even though he pretended the best he could that he was fine. He didn't take part in Mike and Donna's conversation and mostly sat there looking down at his plate. Finally, Donna forced him to take two pills and then ushered him to bed. He followed her without a word.
Mike was left sitting at his chair looking after them as the knot in his stomach once again made itself known. Donna came back a while later and Mike suspected that she tried her best in getting him to think about something else.
"I have treatment tomorrow." Mike told her just before he was heading to bed, she was going to sleep on the couch.
"Oh, you do? What time?"
"At four. I'll go by myself."
"No, I'll go with you." Donna protested.
"No, you can stay here. I'm fine. Good night Donna."
He left before she said anything else.
He woke by sounds that night. At first, he wasn't sure it had been something, but then he heard Harvey call something, followed by Donna's soft voice. He wanted to get up but remained where he was. It took a while before he could go back to sleep again.
Donna woke him up the next morning and announced that she was going to work. She told him that Harvey had been awake some during the night, so he was still sleeping.
"Do you need me to make you breakfast?" She asked.
"No, no, you don't have to." Mike smiled at her. "I'm fine."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, Donna."
"And Mike, you call me if something is wrong. Whatever it is you call."
He promised to do so.
"And I want you to wear a mask the entire day and wash your hands often."
He nodded.
"I'll be back before three." She promised. "And answer when I call you."
"Mask, wash my hands, answer when you call. I got it."
Her eyes narrowed and Mike shrank back a bit. "I'm serious." She said.
"So am I."
She seemed to be satisfied with that and left a couple of minutes later.
Mike who felt okay today went up to take his meds and prepare breakfast. He rolled his eyes as he found one of those surgical masks that he placed over his mouth. He had promised. He then went to wake up his boss.
Harvey was sprawled on his stomach on the bed. He was shirtless and had a blanket over half his body.
"Harvey?" Mike called and watched how he stirred and slowly rolled over on his back. He pulled the blanket over him.
"Mike?" He rasped.
"How are you?"
"Terrific. You?"
"You look like shit." Mike remarked.
"And you look like something from a horror movie. The only thing missing is a scalpel."
Mike glared at him. "There is breakfast in the kitchen." He left. Apparently, Harvey was doing a bit better today. It took almost half an hour for him to arrive though and Mike was finished by then. He pulled the mask over his mouth as Harvey approached the kitchen island.
"Really?" Harvey said. "I don't have the plague."
"You look like you do."
They kept bantering until Harvey announced that he was going back to bed.
"Do you feel bad?"
"No, I'm just tired of seeing your face."
"How? I hid half!"
"See you later Mike."
Mike grinned after him and went to the couch to watch some TV. Two hours had passed when he heard how Harvey was moaning from his bedroom. Mike turned the TV off and walked over.
Harvey was on his stomach again, but Mike could see part of his face. He looked uncomfortable.
"Hi." He said and walked over to the bed and sat down at the foot of the bed.
"Hi." Harvey opened one eyes to look at him.
"How are you?"
"I'm good, Mike."
"Anything I can do?" Mike asked. "Do you need another pill?"
"I took two with breakfast."
"Three hours ago. That's the limit between doses."
"You would know."
"You know that too."
"I do." Harvey admitted.
"So?" Mike asked.
"Okay." Harvey said and Mike felt himself tense with worry. Harvey must really be feeling bad. He went to get the medication. It felt strange to be in this situation. He was the one taking care of Harvey and not on the contrary. When had that ever happened? But he was going to do it. He felt that he really wanted to do it.
-SUITS-
It hurt to swallow the pills and the water Mike handed him. He refused to let that show on his face though, instead he just smiled and handed the glass back to the kid. Mike looked worried and Harvey hated himself for that. What was going on with him here? This was not something he did. He never got sick. But this was the fourth day with a fever like this. He could feel it ravaging through his body.
It was worse during the night. He had the most vivid, horrible dreams. At some point this night he hadn't even been sure if he was dreaming or if he was awake and hallucinating. He shuddered at the thought of the dream or whatever it had been. It had been so real. Mike had died in it. His heart had stopped, and Harvey had been doing compressions. Over and over he worked on Mike's lifeless body, but nothing had happened. It had been terrible. He had screamed and cried.
Then Donna had been there, and she had managed to get him to realize that it had been a dream. He didn't even remember that she had stayed over that night. He was glad that she had though. Obviously they needed her to. She had told him again and again that Mike was fine and that he was sleeping in his bedroom. Eventually Harvey got what she was saying. He fell back asleep from exhaustion.
He felt a bit more alert this morning, but still way too warm and dizzy. He preferred laying down. Mike sat down next to him now.
"What are you doing here Mike?" He asked. He didn't like the fact that Mike was that close to him. He remembered being told that he could infect Mike with this. That would be bad. Mike didn't seem to care though.
"I'm returning the favor Harvey." He said. Of course, he would want to do that.
"You don't have to do that Mike."
"Yes, I do Harvey. I do."
"Still, don't get too close."
"I'm wearing the mask, aren't I?" The kid didn't move an inch.
"That's not a guarantee."
"I'll take my chances."
"Don't blame me if you get what I have, and it kills you."
"I won't." Mike answered without hesitation.
Harvey just groaned down into the pillow.
"You know, Harvey, if I were to repay you for all you have done for me, you probably need to be sick for the rest of your life." Mike mused a minute later.
"I'll pass on that. Don't repay me."
"I want to though." Mike said. He sounded serious, but Harvey couldn't muster the energy to look over to him. He almost jerked when he felt Mike put a hand on his back. He didn't move as Mike started to stroke him. What was happening here?
"Mike?" He had to ask.
"Sorry, do you want me to stop? Is it weird?" Mike asked but didn't stop. "You do this for me when I feel bad. It helps me more than you'll ever know." Mike said quietly. Harvey smiled down into the pillow.
"That's good kid." He mumbled. He fell asleep a few minutes later, during which Mike didn't stop.
He woke up a few hours later from low voices coming from just outside the bedroom.
"I know that Mike, but he will be fine. He just has a cold. It's a simple cold." Donna had arrived.
"But…but he…"
"He is a man, Mike. That's what happening with your kind at common colds."
"Hey!"
"It's not the same with you." He could almost hear the smile in Donna's voice.
"Still, this isn't like him. He doesn't get like that. He is sick!"
"It's not like he has cancer Mike."
Mike sighed then. "I'm just saying that maybe he should see a doctor again."
"And I'm just saying that he will be fine with rest and lots of fluids."
"Okay." Mike mumbled.
"Don't worry honey. He'll be fine soon."
"Okay." Mike repeated and Harvey thought that he probably should get up, he didn't want to prove Donna's point. He felt dizzy when he sat up though.
Mike and Donna was sitting by the coffee table and both look up at him when he emerged.
"Look who is up!" Donna said.
"Why are you out of bed?" Mike said.
"I'm fine Mike." Harvey said and walked over to sit down beside him, however Donna stopped him before he reached the couch.
"Mike isn't wearing a mask." She said and pushed him towards a chair instead.
"Right." Harvey said and sat down. Donna disappeared probably in search of a mask.
"How are you feeling?" Mike asked.
"I'm good, I told you that. Don't worry." He smiled.
"Here you go." Donna was back and pushed a mask in Mike's hands. He rolled his eyes as he put it on.
"You really do look ridiculous." Harvey told him. "It's too big for your face."
"I rather look ridiculous than catch whatever you have." Mike countered.
Harvey nodded at that. He felt so tired. "That's good, kid." He leaned back on the chair.
"Do you want to lay down? We can switch." Mike offered then.
"No, I'm good." Harvey said. He didn't feel like moving. He closed his eyes. He was just going to rest them for a while. He woke up some time later from Donna calling from the kitchen.
"Mike, sweetie. You have a car waiting downstairs."
Harvey opened his eyes. "Where are you going?" He asked.
Mike raised his eyebrows. "To get some poison injected into me. Where do you think?"
"Are you going by yourself?"
Mike stood up. "You are welcome to join me. I can ask if they have a spare bed for you."
Harvey made an effort to sit up.
"I was kidding Harvey; you are not coming with me. Stay where you are." Mike told him. Donna came up to them then.
"He's going alone?" Harvey asked her.
"He insisted."
"He doesn't know what he is talking about. Go with him Donna."
"I'm going to a hospital. What can happen?" Mike interjected. "Bye Harvey."
And then before he had time to do anything else, Mike had already left.
He glared at Donna, but either she didn't understand what he meant, or she ignored him.
"Harvey, lay down on the couch." She just told him and walked away to somewhere. Harvey wondered what was with them, ordering them around all the time. But it sounded like a good idea, so he got himself over to the couch. It was a relief to lay down. He wondered if he ever had been this sick before. Or at least had a fever like this. It was very unpleasant. He wondered if Mike felt like this when he had fevers. He could understand Mike's reactions if that's was the case. He did feel a bit weird. He wasn't even aware that he fell asleep.
He woke up some time later by Donna shaking him. She wanted him to drink something and take a few pills. He mumbled something to her and did what she wanted. He looked around but couldn't see Mike anywhere.
"Where is Mike?" He asked and was surprised when he slurred a bit.
"He is still at the hospital Harvey." Donna told him.
"The hospital. Is he okay?" He needed to know.
"He is there for treatment."
"Oh."
"I'd like to take your temperature." Donna said and Harvey reluctantly let her stick that thing in his ear. She said something, he wasn't sure what. Something about how high his fever was. As soon as she let him, he turned his head away from her and went back to sleep.
The next time he woke up was from the front door closing. He blinked his eyes opened and saw Donna walking towards it. She came back a minute later with her hand behind Mike. The young man was walking hunched over and went straight for a chair in front of Harvey.
Harvey searched for Mike's eyes and didn't like what he saw when they locked eyes. Mike was in pain; he could tell right away. He fought up to sitting.
Donna kneeled in front of Mike, blocking Harvey's vision of him.
"I can't wear it." Harvey heard Mike mumble. He sounded close to tears.
"Okay, honey." Donna's voice. "You want me to help you to your bed then?"
"I don't have to wear it then?"
"No, you don't have to wear it."
Harvey opened his eyes and saw how Donna stroke Mike over the head and then started to help him up. He wanted to ask how Mike was doing, but it was too late now. They were already out of his line of sight.
Suddenly Donna was in front of him again. She wanted him to lay back down. He flinched when she placed something extremely cold on his forehead.
"We need to get your temperature down a bit. Leave it there." She said.
"Donna…" It was Mike who was calling for her.
"I have to go and take care of him. Get some sleep Harvey." She stroked his cheek a bit. It felt nice. Then she was gone.
Someone shook him awake. Not someone. Donna.
She wanted him to stand up and walk to the bathroom. Harvey grunted but did what she asked. He had business there anyway. The bathroom was spinning so he had to sit down and lean his head in his hands.
On his way towards his bedroom he decided to check on Mike. He had been in pain earlier. He needed to make sure he was alright. He reached Mike's room and stumbled inside. He really was dizzy.
"Harvey, what are you doing?" Donna whispered from the doorway. She walked in and grabbed a hold of him. "I shouldn't need to be watching you like this. Come on, you can't be here." She said and started to push him back out.
"But I was just checking…" Harvey tried to say.
"Mike is sleeping, and I spent a lot of time getting him to do so, so you are not going to ruin it. Leave Harvey. He is not wearing a mask. You can't be in here."
He stopped trying to resist her then and let her lead him to his bed. It was blissfully cold.
He dreamt that night too. The dreams were yet again so vivid and real that he didn't know if they had happened or not when he woke. It wasn't a pleasant feeling at all. He just felt so confused.
This was the sixth day he had a fever now, and that couldn't be a good thing. He knew that. He noticed that Mike worried as well, and that wasn't how it was supposed to be. Harvey worried about Mike, not the other way around.
Things didn't get better when he tripped on his way to the bathroom because how dizzy he was. He hadn't been able to regain his balance and had went down pretty dramatically. Both Mike and Donna had seen it, and it wasn't anything he could say to play it down. He tried though.
"Harvey!" Mike screamed when he fell and before Harvey had understood what had happened Mike was next to him, his hand travelling along his body looking for injuries.
"Mike. Stop. I'm fine." He grunted and tried to sit up, but Mike held him down. Donna was there too now.
"Did you hurt yourself? What happened?" Mike asked.
"I just lost my balance. I'm good. Let me up."
"If you fall to the ground you are not fine." Donna said.
"You should go to the hospital. This is bad!" Mike exclaimed.
"No, I don't need a hospital Mike."
"Stop saying that you are fine." Mike interrupted him. "You keep telling me to be honest with you, so why can't you do the same for me?"
Harvey didn't answer as he watched Mike's eyes. They were a bit shiny and that was his fault. He nodded.
"I'm sorry." He said.
"I don't want your apologies. I want you to tell me the truth."
"Mike, I lost my balance. I've been in bed a lot and I guess I'm not used to walking. I got dizzy."
"If it was me who did that, what you just did, you would have taken me to the hospital."
"I would probably have done that." Harvey gently pushed Mike's hands away now and sat up. "But that is different Mike. You know that."
Mike looked down. "But I'm worried about you. I want you to go to the hospital again and get checked out."
"Mike…"
"Do it for me. I need you to get better. I need you."
Harvey was quiet for a while. He glanced at Donna, but she just raised her eyebrows at him, so he nodded then.
"Okay Mike, I'll go." He said.
"Thank you." Mike breathed.
Harvey rolled his eyes a bit. "I'm just doing it to get you two to leave me alone." But when he looked at Mike, he kind of wanted to take that statement back. Mike looked so worried, so he settled for patting Mike's arm a bit. "Don't worry." He said.
Mike just shook his head then and looked a bit annoyed.
-SUITS-
Mike didn't know what scared him more right now, the fact that Harvey was sick or the fact he had agreed to go to the hospital. That could only mean that Harvey was seriously ill, if he agreed to that. The worry almost hurt inside his chest, but he forced himself to smile then and suggested that they go right away.
Donna had to help Harvey to get dressed, although he didn't stop complaining about him being able to do it himself. Mike chose to wait on one of the barstools at the kitchen island.
Mike could see that Harvey was shaking slightly when they were in the elevator on their way down. Mike wanted to reach out and steady him, but Donna didn't let them come close to each other.
Harvey fell asleep in the car, and Mike didn't know what to think. At the hospital they had to wait for quite a lot of time, and when finally, a nurse came towards them she went straight over to Mike.
"No, it's not me, it's him." Mike said and pointed at Harvey.
"Oh I'm sorry, it's just that it you are wearing a mask…" The nurse said and then turned to Harvey. "Let's get you to one of our exam rooms then."
All Mike could do was to sit where he was next to Donna and watch as Harvey followed the nurse down the hall. He jerked a bit when Donna put her hand in his.
"How are you feeling?" She asked.
"Okay, I guess."
"He will be fine, Mike."
He squeezed her hand a little. "Yeah."
He leaned back and closed his eyes. He drew a few breaths and tried to calm down. His heart was beating rather hard in his chest and it worried him some. But surely it was only the stress and worry about Harvey that affected him.
"Mike?" Donna shook him awake. His neck was a bit stiff.
"How long was I…?"
"Two hours. Harvey have been admitted Mike. I'm going to go and see him, I just wanted to let you know."
"What? I want to see him too!" He clumsily stood up, but Donna pushed him back down again rather easily. "Donna…"
"He is here for a reason Mike, and you know that you can't put yourself at risk."
"At least tell me what's wrong with him."
"They are not sure yet. He has a high fever and they are concerned that it has lasted for so long."
"What do you mean they don´t know?"
"They are not worried Mike, they are not. They just want to keep him here overnight to make sure he doesn't get any worse. They said that he was dehydrated as well so they are going to fix that too."
"I still want to see him." He made a second attempt at getting up to standing, but she yet again stopped him. This time by holding onto his shoulders.
"I know you do. And as soon as he is better you will. I'll tell him you are good." She started to walk away from him. "Please stay here Mike." She said, looking back at him.
The tone of her voice made Mike nod and sink back onto the chair. He hugged his arms to his chest and tried to calm his beating heart down. He wasn't feeling particularly good right now, and he wished that he wasn't alone. But that wish made him feel bad because right now Harvey was the one that needed more help than he did. It's just pained him that he couldn't be there to support Harvey, just like Harvey always supported him.
He doze off again and was woken up by a concerned nurse that wanted to know if he needed help. Mike felt confused and wasn't overly successful in convincing her that he was fine.
"It's just that you don't look good at all. Are you sure you don't need me to help you somehow?" She insisted.
"Yes, I'm just waiting for my friend."
"How about you call them and ask where they are?"
Mike agreed to do so, and it was first when he held the phone to his ear that she was satisfied and left. He must look bad for her to show concern like that. Donna soon answered and told him that she would come in a few minutes. Mike asked if he could speak to Harvey and she let him.
"I'm sorry for this Mike." Harvey said tiredly. "I guess it was a little worse than I thought."
Mike assured him that it was all fine. He told Harvey to do exactly what the doctor said. Harvey kindly asked him to shut up. Mike felt a bit calmer then, if Harvey could be an ass, he would be fine. Donna came soon after and took him home.
By the time they arrived at Donna's apartment he was in pain. The chest pain wouldn't ease up and Donna noticed it even when he tried to pretend that he was fine. She offered him to sleep in her bed, something that he refused. It wouldn't feel right. Her couch was comfortable enough.
"Do you want me to stay in here as well?" Donna asked him when he was laying down again after having taken his meds.
"I'll be fine." He repeated for the third time that evening. Donna sighed at him.
"I don't believe you, Mike." She said.
He shrugged and remained silent. After a moment she told him good night and left. He didn't know if she was mad at him now, or at least annoyed. But he just didn't want to talk. His mind wandered over to Harvey. He had wanted to call him again, but Donna had said that they should let Harvey rest.
What if he got worse? What if something happened while Harvey was alone at the hospital? What if he needed them, and they weren't there, because Mike needed to go home and rest? He resented himself for being this weak. When Harvey needed help, he didn't get it because Mike took up everyone's attention. He knew as well that Donna rather would be with Harvey than with him, but she had been forced to take him home instead. He felt so guilty about that.
It took some time before he managed to fall asleep. He had nightmares that night. They all involved Harvey. It was close to four in the morning when he woke in terror. Harvey had been in the hospital and they had let Mike come and visit him. Harvey had been in bed and Mike sat beside him in a chair. Suddenly in the middle of their conversation Harvey started to having trouble breathing. Soon his face started to change color and he had been panting, gasping for air. Mike had screamed for help and had tried to reach the older man, but it had been like he had been bound to the chair he was in and he couldn't move, no matter how much he fought or screamed. He had been forced to sit back and watch how Harvey fought for every breath and until he had started to bleed. Blood had poured from his mouth and Harvey had been choking on it. That was the moment when he woke up.
He couldn't get the images out of his mind and he had started to cry. He had trouble getting enough air into him and was drenched with sweat. His chest hurt.
"Mike? Mike, honey, are you okay?" Donna was there. He cried. She sat down beside him and threw her arms around him. He clung to her with all he could as he felt her stroking his back.
"It's okay. It's okay." She whispered in his ear. He tried to calm down. He whispered words helped him and he managed a few minutes later.
"It was a nightmare." He told her without letting go of her. "Har-Harvey was in it."
"It was just a dream. Harvey is fine." She helped him to lay back down again and then took his hand in hers.
"Do you feel better?" She wanted to know.
Mike shook his head. "Can you stay until I do?"
"Of course."
She managed to lay down beside him on the couch, it was narrow, but not uncomfortable. They lay in silence, still holding hands. Mike did his best in trying to calm down, he tried not to think about the dream, to get the images out of his head. He held on to Donna a bit harder. A long time they lay like that. His heart was beating hard in his chest. He waited for it to calm down, but it didn't. It stressed him.
"Donna?" He whispered.
"Yes."
"My heart is beating really hard."
She reached out then and lightly put her hand on his chest. She kept her hand there and stroked him a little with her fingers.
"Do you think you need to go to the hospital?"
"No. It just scares me."
"Oh Mike…" She stroked his cheek a bit and he tried to smile at her.
"You should try to get some more sleep. It's late."
"I can't."
He tried to sit up now, surprising Donna, who tried to stop him.
"Mike?"
"I just… I…" He didn't even know what to say, he just knew that he couldn't go back to sleep. Not now.
"Mike, Mike, Mike."
Suddenly he noticed that she had her hands on both of his shoulder as she tried to push him back down on the couch. She kept saying things, but it was hard to hear her.
Her hand came around his face and she held on hard. Her face was right in front of him and he managed to focus on it. He let himself fall back down on the pillow, while he still was looking at her. She spoke quietly to him, shushed him. He was breathing hard and he wished that Harvey was there.
"Are you with me? Please Mike?"
"Yeah…yeah." He panted.
She wrapped her arms around him then and he just lay there.
"So-sorry Donna." He said after a few minutes when he could breathe again.
"Don't apologize sweetie. It's okay."
"I don't know… I just…"
"It's okay." Donna repeated. They were both quiet for a bit and Mike tried his best to arrange his thoughts. He needed to get a grip of himself, he didn't even know what had just happened.
"Was it because you didn't want to sleep?" Donna asked him then.
"Yes." He found himself saying without evening thinking it through.
"I'm sorry." She whispered.
"No, don't be."
"You don't have to sleep, if you don't want to."
He nodded. "It's just that Harvey isn't here and… and my heart is beating really hard. What if…what if I don't wake up again?" He swallowed hard and couldn't look at her.
"I'll watch over you." She had tears in her eyes when he looked up at her. "I'll stay awake Mike, you can sleep. I'll make sure nothing happens to you."
He nodded and took her hand in his. She smiled and squeezed it, then she brought his hand up to her face and rested it against her cheek for a bit.
"Close your eyes."
He hesitantly did what she asked. He jerked a bit when she started stroking his arm. Slowly he was able to relax a bit. He could still feel his heart beating hard inside of him, but it he was feeling better.
After a few deep breaths later and he felt even better. He felt that he could keep his eyes closed without the immediate need to open them again.
When he woke up again his heart had calmed down again, and Donna was sitting beside him with a book in her lap.
"What are you reading?" He asked and smiled a little when she jerked in surprise.
"You are awake!" She ignored his question and started to ask him her own. There was a few of them he had to answer before she was satisfied that he was alright.
"I'm sorry for what happened, Donna." Mike felt forced to say. "I knew how I acted, and I understand if I freaked you out."
"Mike, I don't want you to apologize for things like that. You know it wasn't your fault. It's okay to be afraid."
He felt himself blush at her words and he wanted to object to them, but they were true. He had been scared, both of the nightmare and then what it did to him.
They had breakfast together and just as they had settled down on the couch again Harvey called him. The older man sounded a bit better, tired but alert. He told Mike that they were pumping him full of stuff and that they had been able to bring his fever down. They didn't think it was something serious, just a persistent variation of the flue.
"I think someone said that they will let me back home tomorrow."
"That's great Harvey."
"I begin to see what you mean about this place."
"After one day, one day and you had enough? What's with you?" Mike smirked.
"Oh, shut up would you. How are you doing then?" Harvey asked him instead.
"I'm…I'm good."
"But?"
"But nothing, I'm good."
"Mike?"
"Okay! I wasn't last night. I had a nightmare." Mike confessed.
"And?" Harvey knew him well, Mike kind of wanted to swear a little at him.
"And I dreamt that you were dying and I couldn't help you."
"Oh." Harvey said and then he was quiet for some time. "I dreamt that too Mike." He then said. "About you. But it's just nightmares. I'm fine, and you will be as well. We both know that."
Mike swallowed. "Yeah, sure. Okay Harvey."
"Don't worry so much. It's not like I have what you have. In fact, this is rather embarrassing. I just have a fever."
"You have forced me to the hospital for less."
"Again, I'm not the one with heart cancer."
"Have they come to help you to the bathroom yet then?"
"You know what Mike, I'll talk to you tomorrow, I'm going to get some sleep now."
Mike couldn't help but to smile when they hang up. Harvey was going to be fine.
-SUITS-
Harvey had avoided telling Mike about the night he had had. He had woken up in a panic, he hadn't known where he was. People had been there that he didn't know. He didn't know why they were there. He had screamed at them. He hadn't felt good at all and it had been really hard to breathe. It took a long time before he had realized that he was at a hospital and two hours with an oxygen mask for his breathing to become better.
It had scared him when he had trouble with catching his breathe. It became even worse when he thought of that this was something that Mike was used to. This was something that Mike had experienced often, and worse than this. Mike had been in this situation that he now was in during most of the last year. Trapped in a hospital bed, sick and not knowing what was going on inside his own body. Harvey felt like he had a different understanding now, compared to before. This did suck. Being ill sucked. He knew what he was battling was going to pass, he would get better soon, but Mike, Mike didn't know that. Mike didn't know if he was going to survive or not. Sure, things were looking better for him now, but he still had heart cancer. He still lives with the uncertainty of not knowing if he was going to survive or not. That was just awful.
Right now, Mike was home alone without him, Harvey. What was he doing here really? He had gotten some damn infection that pushed him into a hospital bed. Right when Mike needed him, he wasn't there. Sure, Mike needed him most of the time, but this wasn't what he wanted. This wasn't how it should be. He tried to close his eyes and relax. He needed to rest, he needed to get better so that he could go back home to Mike.
He felt slightly better the next morning. He also felt annoyed at the nurse that came and wanted to take his temperature and measure his blood pressure. He glared at her when she told him that he stilled had a fever.
"Just get a doctor over here." He told her. He wanted to get out of here now. To his annoyance he had to wait for almost three hours before someone arrived. He was examined again. Blood was drawn. He waited again for the results. Placed another call to Mike and spoke to both him and Donna. Apparently, they were just watching movies and playing games. Mike claimed that he was doing fine, but Harvey could hear on his voice that it was something that Mike wasn't telling him. That wasn't a good sign. He needed to get back home, he just needed to. Something in him told him that he couldn't stay here any longer. He felt weirdly stressed out about just laying in this damn bed and just wait.
The nurse that frequently visited his room told him to get some sleep, but he ignored her. When his doctor eventually arrived again, the first Harvey asked was when he could go home. Luckily, he didn't need to argue, like had had been prepared to do.
"You can actually go home tonight if you wish. You still have a fever and a cold, but your fever is in such a level that we don't need to keep you here any longer."
It was the best news he had heard in ages and he wanted to get straight out of bed. However, it took about three more hours before he was able to get in a cab and go back home.
That weird feeling of urgency was back, and he almost wanted to tell the cab driver to go faster. He didn't know what it was that made him want to get home as soon as possible. Mike hadn't answered him when he called, but Donna had, and she told him that Mike was sleeping.
She asked him if he wanted her to come and get him, but he refused.
"No, you need to stay with Mike." He told her.
"Harvey, Mike is fine, I promise you. He'll probably stay asleep. I'll have time to come and pick you up."
"And what if he wakes up while you are gone and has a heart attack?" Harvey brutally asked her.
"Harvey!"
He sighed; he didn't know why he had said that. Or in that way. "Sorry Donna, but I'll just take a cab."
"I know you are worried about him Harvey. I understand. We will wait for you then." She hung up before he had the change to say anything else. He considered calling her back but decided to just go home and see if an apology was necessary or not.
Before he left, he placed a call to Mike's doctor but wasn't told anything new. He needed to keep his distance from Mike and make sure the other man was wearing a mask until Harvey was well again. Since Mike hadn't been infected the last time he was home the doctor thought it would be fine if Harvey went home and just followed the instructions he had just gotten. The doctor did express concern though, and repeated that Mike immune system was weak and if it was possible, they should look into different living arrangement. Harvey said that he was feeling much better and that he thought it would be fine.
He knew of course that they were playing a risky game here, but he just felt like he had to go home now. And Mike had been fine the first time around, why should it be any different now?
Mike was asleep when Harvey got home. Donna came to meet him in the hallway. She carefully gave him a hug and it seemed like no apologies were necessary. She frown a bit when she felt his forehead.
"They let you leave when you still got a fever?" She asked.
"I feel much better Donna. How is Mike?"
"Sleeping. I haven't told him yet."
Harvey smirked a bit.
"So everything has been alright then?" He asked.
"He's been worrying about you and had a pretty bad nightmare last night but other than that he has been fine."
"And how are you Donna?" Harvey asked. "You fine with all of this?"
"Of course, I'm just glad that I can help. Do you want to go and get some rest?"
"I've been resting enough."
After he had checked on Mike, he still went to the couch to sit down some. Donna joined him with a cup of tea, and they talked some. Donna told him about Mike's nightmare the other night and that he had been scared. Harvey didn't like hearing that and it made him feel guilty.
"Harvey! You are home!" Mike was suddenly standing next to the kitchen island with a wide grin on his face.
"I am."
"How are you feeling? Are you doing better? Why didn't you wake me?"
"I'm fine Mike." Harvey waved at him and smiled back.
Donna got up as Mike started to walk towards him. She put a hand across his chest to stop him. "He is still not well Mike." She calmly said and Mike's smile vanished.
"Well, I'm glad you're home Harvey." He said. "I'm just…I'll just…" He turned and went back to his room again. Harvey looked after him in confusion. What was that about? Donna shrugged a bit and went after him. Harvey stayed were he was.
"He is fine." Donna said when she came back. Harvey didn't believe her. Later that night when Donna was in his bedroom to change the sheets, she had offered, he went to Mike's room. The kid was awake with his iPad in his lap.
"Hi Mike." Harvey said and sat down by the desk.
"Hi Harvey."
They looked at each other in silence for a bit. Mike spoke first.
"You look a bit better than before."
"I am better.
"You are not as pale." He grinned and put his iPad away.
Harvey shook his head at him.
"Donna said you still have a fever though?"
"I guess so."
"So she will come in here and force me to wear a mask again?"
"You should be wearing one."
"You are the one coming in here with your germs. You should be wearing them, not me."
"You are the one with a weak immune system."
Mike rolled his eyes at him and Harvey smiled. He felt a lot calmer now, when he had Mike in front of him. He didn't why he had been so worried for at the hospital. Donna had been right. Mike was fine, in fact he seemed to be in a pretty good mood. They talked some more until Donna came and broke it up.
The next morning Harvey better. He had had some weird dreams during the night so maybe the fever wasn't entirely gone, but pretty much. He wasn't a hundred percent, but he was getting there. He spent most of his day with Mike, who was wearing a mask, without complaining too much. They watched movies and talked. Donna fed them and forced them to drink lots of fluids.
"I don't have a fever." Mike said. "I don't need to drink something every half an hour."
"It can't hurt if you do." Donna answered without missing a beat.
That afternoon when Donna went grocery shopping for them Mike came out from his room and leaned against the wall next to the TV.
"What's up?" Harvey asked him. He could tell it was something, Mike had that look.
"I just wanted to tell you something."
"Okay."
"Don't freak out or anything."
"Yeah, because that's what I do."
"Yes, you do. All the time."
"I don't."
Mike sighed and suddenly he sank to the ground making Harvey scramble up from the couch and rush over to him. He grabbed his shoulders, but Mike squirmed away from him.
"See?" He said and smiled.
Harvey calmly let him go and restrained himself from strangling him.
"Do you want me to tell you or not?" Mike asked, still on the floor.
"Fine. Tell me."
"It's just my heart. It's acting a bit weird. I thought you should know." Mike clumsily got up from the floor and sat down on a chair.
"Strange how?" Harvey tried to sound casual.
"It's beating very hard sometimes."
"Did you talk to your doctor?"
"Not yet?"
"And why not?"
"I'm going there tomorrow afternoon. I'll mention it then. I just thought you should know."
"And did you tell Donna about this?"
"I kind of told her when it happened." Mike seemed to think that the conversation was over because he reached for the remote.
Harvey rolled his eyes. "Kind of? Seriously Mike, how do you feel now?"
"It's alright now. I feel fine. How do you feel?"
"I'm good."
"You were at the hospital yesterday."
"So were you."
"Because of you."
They went back and forth like that for a while mostly to entertain themselves. Mike got quiet after some time though, his eyes starting to close against his will. Soon his head dropped to the side and he was asleep with his mouth slightly open. It looked uncomfortable but Harvey let him sleep. He was tired himself, so he decided to just close his eyes for a while.
He woke up from Donna arriving back home. She came with two bags of groceries.
"Should we wake him?" She asked when she was done putting the food away and came over to them. "That can't be good for his neck." She didn't wait for Harvey's replay just crouched down next to Mike and carefully shook his shoulder.
"Uh…my neck." Was the first thing Mike said as he sat up straighter. "What?" He said when noticing that both Harvey and Donna looked at him with amusement.
"Nothing, we were just talking about you." Harvey said.
"What?"
Mike just groaned a bit and leaned his head to the other side. Donna started to fuss over him and managed to convince him to go and lay down on his bed instead. Harvey smiled to himself as the two of them made their way to Mike's room, the kid weakly trying to fend off Donnas attempts of adjusting his hoodie. It felt good to be home again.
He coughed a bit and rubbed his forehead; he had gotten a headache. He should head to bed as well. It just felt a bit awkward to head to bed when Donna was there. He felt that he needed to stay up until she came back from Mike's room. However, she took her time and his head was hurting to much for him to sit up anymore.
He couldn't help but worry when he was laying under his covers. Mike had told him that his heart had acted weird. Harvey didn't know how serious it was, if he should do something about it or not. But Mike didn't seem all that worried, so Harvey had to trust the man's judgement on this one. He had told Mike many times to tell him everything, and it was just what Mike had done now. Right?
-SUITS-
Harvey was still sick. Mike could tell that much from the way he looked, tired and pale. It was just something about him that mirrored how he really felt; he wasn't able to keep up his normal façade. Mike had also heard him coughing a couple of times. He didn't say anything about it though, Harvey seemed to want to pretend that everything was normal. Maybe that was helping him somewhat to get through the whole thing, so Mike pretended as well. He knew that Harvey struggled with it, not being able to be there for Mike. Harvey probably felt guilty about it, being sick, and that was just crazy. Mike if anyone knew that there was nothing you could do about it. He mostly had his own guilt stuffed away now; it was barely there. He found that he had accepted his situation regarding guilt about the illness and behaving like he did some time ago. He wasn't sure when, feelings were weird. The acceptance wasn't always there, but he was working on his mindset. He had hit a low point with the apathy and all and he felt guilty about that. But it wasn't anything to do about it now, besides he was over it.
He wanted to help Harvey now, he really did. It would be great if he could be able to just repay Harvey some for everything, he had been doing for him. Making breakfast seemed like a tiny step but it was something.
Donna had stayed over with them again. She had asked him if he was alright with it if she slept on the other side of his bed.
"I'm not sleeping on the couch and Harvey's coughing is just going to keep me up."
Mike had said that it was fine. Of course it was, he had been happy about it. Her presence calmed him, and he slept well with her next to him. He also appreciated that she had asked him about it like it was convenient for her, not like she did it as a favor to him. It made him feel more normal.
He had woken up early and gotten out of bed to go to the bathroom. Donna woke up when he was standing up.
"You okay?" She asked and sat up.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Good morning."
"Good morning." She smiled and laid back down. "Your bed is comfortable."
After taking his meds he decided on making breakfast for them, since he felt okay and didn't want to go back to bed. He found one of his hats on a bar stool and put it on. He usually slept without them since then slipped off in his sleep anyway.
He went to wake up Harvey when he was finished. Donna had already joined him at the table. He had made them both coffee, something he knew they would appreciate. They mostly had tea now, because of him.
Harvey was sleeping on his back with the covers around his waist. Mike watched him for a moment, considering letting the man sleep.
"Harvey!" He then yelled, smiling when he jerked awake.
"What? What's wrong?" He said with wide eyes.
Mike sighed. "Why do you always assume something is wrong?"
"Because it's you." Harvey said immediately. "You should wear a mask."
"You should get up. I've made breakfast."
Donna insisted that he sit as far away from Harvey as possible, so Mike placed himself on the other end of the table.
"Maybe I should go into another room?" He grumbled. "I'm not the one sick."
"You know that line will never work for you ever again." Harvey said.
"If I survive, I will be deemed healthy some day!" Mike argued.
"You will always be the boy who had heart cancer." Harvey shot back.
"Boy?"
"You are wearing a hat at the table, what else should I call you?"
"Alright. This is nice coffee Mike." Donna interrupted. Mike and Harvey grinned towards each other.
They had a nice morning. Mike argued that Harvey should be the one who cleaned up since he had made the breakfast. Harvey didn't agree. When Donna offered to do it, Mike promised to take care of the dishes later and managed to get her to leave it.
Mike put a damn mask on and then he and Harvey placed themselves in front of the TV. Donna said that she was going to head over to the office for a bit.
"Someone needs to make sure that place is still standing."
"Yes, Louis has too much power there now a days." Harvey said. "Make sure he hasn't screwed up the Lindberg case."
"I have a schedule meeting with him and Jessica. I'll let him know you sends your regards then." She smiled and turned to Mike. "Make sure he takes his meds." She nodded towards Harvey.
"I will." Mike promised and laughed when Harvey called after her.
"My regards." He muttered when Donna had left. "You know he proposed a settlement with the opposing side after just reviewing the papers?"
"Maybe it was that clear that you would lose otherwise?"
"Oh, shut up. You know what? I'm heading to bed for a bit. You do the dishes."
Mike smile to himself and went to the kitchen. He enjoyed his and Harvey's constant banter. It felt right.
There were a few pans in the sink that Harvey didn't want to wash in the dishwasher. Mike thought it was a bit silly. He would have just thrown everything in there. It wasn't like it would break. But he also kind of enjoyed that he was able to do anything to help out.
It was some grease stuck to the pan and he had to use a bit of force to rub it off. Suddenly he felt a sharp stab in his chest and he dropped the pan in surprise. He had to grab the counter as he suddenly felt all shaky and weak. He stood there with his head down, breathing hard for a bit. What was that? His heart was beating hard, but he didn't know if it was something wrong or if he had just gotten scared from the sudden feeling in his chest. It didn't get worse though. He could probably continue. It was probably nothing.
When he straightened up and reached for the pan again, he felt that stab inside his chest again. It was worse than before, and he knew now that this wasn't good. He stumbled a bit when sudden pain hit him hard. He couldn't remain standing; it was that powerful. He sank to the ground and ended up on his back between the counter and kitchen island. He couldn't breathe! Shit, this was bad. Something was going on with his heart. It was beating painfully hard now and he knew that he needed help right now.
"Har-Harvey…" It was just a whisper. He couldn't get enough air in his lungs to scream. He tried to draw in a few deeps and called out again, but with the same results. He felt the panic settle in him. He was going to die!
He needed to get Harvey over, or he would die for sure. He just knew it, but his voice wasn't enough right now. Sounds, he needed to make sounds to get Harvey's attention. If he didn't, he was finished. He just knew it. He lifted his arm and slammed it into the floor again and again. He withered on the ground in an attempt to get up. He banged on the floor again.
Then he heard steps! Harvey was coming. Thank god! He had tears in his eyes, not knowing when they had come.
"Mike?" Harvey fell hard on his knees next to his head and grabbed his shoulder hard. "Mike, what is it? What's wrong? What is it?"
"M-m-my hea-heart…" He panted. "Help!"
"Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit." Harvey said and then threw himself up from the floor, his balance was a bit off and he fell on his knees again but was back up in seconds. He disappeared from Mike's line of sight and he wanted to scream. It was just that he still couldn't draw breaths. He knew what was happening, he knew the sensation. He had experienced it before. His heart was going to stop. It was just a terrifying knowledge, he felt himself shaking.
Then Harvey was back again and grabbed his arms hard. He pulled Mike further out on the floor and then fell to his knees next to Mike. He put his phone down on the ground to them and Mike could hear the dial tones.
"You'll be fine, it'll be fine. Just try and breath Mike, remain calm. Be calm." Harvey rambled as he put a hand along Mike's face.
"I'm…I'm…I'm sc-sc-scared." Mike panted. "My…my…my…"
"Shhh, don't talk. And don't be scared. I'm right here. I'm not letting anything happen to you. You know that."
The call got through then and Harvey instead started talking to the operator on the other end. Mike had a hard time paying attention to what was said. He focused all his attention on Harvey but could barely make out the words he was saying. Harvey had one hand over his chest and the other still along his face. Mike wanted to reach out for him but found himself nailed to the floor.
His chest was hurting so much. He was going to die here on the floor, he hadn't even been able to finish with the dishes. His heart was going to stop at any second. It was getting harder to stay conscious. He was panting and Harvey's features above him had turned a bit blurry.
"Har-vey." He got out.
"Yes, I'm here Mike." Harvey answered immediately. Mike drew a deep breath.
"I'll die. It'll stop." He said. "I'm sc-scared."
Harvey was so close to him; Harvey was all he could see. Harvey's hands gripped him tight over the shoulder.
"You won't. I'm not letting you. Don't be scared. I'm here. I got you."
Mike moaned as a response. Harvey was fading. Oh no, oh no, oh no. He tried again to reach for Harvey but had no control of his body anymore. He was dying now. Harvey called his name.
-SUITS-
The fever was stubborn, but Harvey was pretty sure that it was better than yesterday. He had already decided not to be sick anymore, starting tomorrow. This was enough. The cold was still there though, but much more manageable. He couldn't have Mike take care of him anymore, making him breakfast and all. No, it was time to turn the tables back. He thought Mike had been looking rather pale lately and that was something that he didn't like. No, he needed to just get over this and for things to get back to normal again.
Harvey had been in bed when he heard a weird tapping sound. For a moment he dismissed it, but it didn't stop. He stayed motionless for five more seconds before he realized. He rushed up as fast as he could then. The room was spinning, and he almost ran into the wall of his bedroom.
At first, he couldn't see Mike, but noticed that the water was running from the kitchen sink. He ran over. Mike was laying sprawled out on his back next to the kitchen island. His chest was heaving, and Harvey could hear how forced his breathing sounded. Oh no! He fell down next to the kid and asked him what was wrong. Terror gripped him as Mike answered that it was his heart. Harvey swore and got back on his feet. He needed a phone. Now!
He dialed 911 as he ran back to Mike. He had the sense to put it on speaker. He tried to reassure Mike. It hurt in him when Mike said that he was scared, he was scared of dying here on the floor in Harvey's kitchen. Harvey was terribly scared as well. This couldn't be happening right now! Mike had been doing better lately. This couldn't happen!
The ambulance was on its way when Mike's eyes closed. Harvey screamed his name, but that didn't help. He pressed his hand hard against Mike's chest and felt no movement there. Shit!
"No, no, no, don't you dare." He mumbled as he got up on his knees to be in a better position. "Mike don't you dare. Don't you dare die."
He started compressions. Mike's breastbones bent down. Harvey counted loudly. He focused on the counting, nothing else. He looked down at his hands. When he came to thirty and nothing had happened, he tilted Mike's head back. For a second, he hesitated, but then did the two rescue breaths. Compressions again.
"Come on Mike!" He yelled.
And then! Mike moved. Thank God! He coughed weakly and moaned. Harvey stroked him, wiped his face, and talked calmly, just saying whatever came to his mind. He was pretty sure Mike couldn't hear him anyway. Mike opened his eyes a minute or two later, and about then the doorbell rang, and someone knocked hard on the door. Shit, he had forgotten to open it for the paramedics. After a glance at Mike he rushed over, threw the door opened and hurried back.
Mike was able to answer questions and even voice a protest in going to the hospital. No one listened to him of course. Harvey got to ride with them inside the ambulance. He got scared when Mike's eyes closed but was assured that Mike was just asleep. Having your heart stopping apparently made you tired.
As usual after an ambulance trip Harvey was assigned to a waiting room while Mike was taken away. He texted Donna and she came. She was very upset when she arrived and blamed herself.
"I shouldn't have left. I shouldn't."
"He was doing good Donna. You couldn't have known. Hell, he made us breakfast. He was doing fine."
She nodded. "Oh god Harvey, what if you hadn't been there? What if it had happened when it was just him and me. I'm not sure I would have been able to…" She had tears in her eyes now.
"Of course, you would have. He would have been fine if you have been there too." He said. He wasn't even sure if he really meant it. He was just glad that it was him who had been there instead of Donna. He was so incredibly grateful that he had been there.
Once again, he had been forced to start Mike's heart up again. He had lost count of how many times it had been now. At least he couldn't figure it out right now. What he did know though was that each time was just as terrifying. He couldn't help but think back. The way he had found Mike. The kid had been doing the dishes when he collapsed. He vaguely wondered if anyone had turned off the tap. He was sure he hadn't done it.
They were joined by Mike's doctor, Dr. Lundin, for a bit, but he didn't have any news by then, he just wanted to show his support and concern. He asked a few questions and then disappeared again.
Mike was awake and talking when they were allowed to see him.
"Thank you, Harvey." His voice was hoarse, and he had a nasal cannula and wires everywhere.
Harvey just nodded and blinked tears away. He sat down and took Mike's hand in his. He wasn't going to let anyone remove him from this spot. Mike weakly pressed at his and Harvey could tell that Mike was trying to smile at him. He was alive. He was still alive, and Harvey felt very emotional at that point. He decided to not give a damn and let his tears flow freely. Mike pressed his hand harder and didn't look away.
"Harvey?" It was Donna. He turned towards her and saw that she was holding up a surgical mask for him. He rolled his eyes and let go of Mike's hand to put it on.
"Finally." Mike mumbled then and Harvey couldn't help but laugh.
