Chapter 69.
They stayed in bed a while longer. Harvey's plan had been to get up and make them both some breakfast. He was pretty hungry, but Mike had been so upset just a few minutes earlier and now he was a lot calmer. So that was why they stayed. Mike didn't seem to be in a hurry to move either and Harvey thought that he deserved to have some peace of mind, and this, staying in bed next to each other gave him that. He decided to let Mike decide when it was time to get the day started. He did a few minutes later.
"I thought you had made breakfast." He said suddenly.
Harvey turned to look at him. "Are you being serious right now?" He asked.
Mike smirked a little. "Just help me up." He said.
Harvey slowly helped him to sit up and proceeded with getting Mike dressed in a fresh set of clothes. He noticed how Mike squinted and would rub at his forehead. Mike confirmed that he had a headache when Harvey asked him about it.
They went to the living room and Harvey left Mike on the couch and got him his meds. Mike laid down and pressed one of the pillows over his face for a bit. At least until he was close to suffocating himself, he stopped then.
He had some of the breakfast Harvey put in front of him, making Harvey wonder if Mike just left some food on the plate just out of old habit. Maybe he had some sort of compulsion of having to leave something left.
Mike slept a few hours after that. Harvey worked some. Donna came over that day and spent some time with them. Adam was set to come on the next day. Harvey actually looked forward to that. It would be nice to share some of the medical burden with someone. It actually took some time to keep track of all of Mike's medications. He had a drawer in the kitchen especially for Mike's medication. Adam had rearranged it once and he claimed that it was easy to find stuff in it now. Harvey didn't know if he agreed. He sometimes had to check on the list he had from the hospital. At least he knew a lot more than Mike. If Harvey didn't help him, he would probably accidentally kill himself.
Harvey walked out into the living room from working a bit in Mike's room. He found Donna in the kitchen filling up the dishwasher. He looked over towards the couch and Mike was on it, passed out.
"He fell asleep again?" He said to Donna.
"Yes, he said that his chest was hurting so I gave him some painkillers. It seemed to have knocked him out."
"Apparently." Harvey agreed.
For a little while they spoke about Mike's condition and medications, but then Donna asked if he wanted some tea and Harvey agreed. They sat down by the table so that they had a good view of Mike's sleeping form. Then they talked about other things, about the office, cases they had worked on together, and even a bit about politics. It was refreshing to talk to someone about other subjects then medical ones.
That feeling was gone an hour later when Mike woke up and was instantly in a desperate mood. He sat up and called for Harvey. He was panting and his gaze flickered around the place.
"Mike, Mike, what is it?" Harvey sat down beside him, Donna standing behind him.
"I…I need to…I need to throw up."
"Okay. Do you have time to get to the bathroom?" Harvey asked.
"Yeah."
Harvey helped him up from the couch and steadied him to the bathroom. When they got there, Mike released his arm and fell on his knees in front of the toilet. Harvey waited while Mike threw up his dinner. Donna showed up with a bottle of water.
"Thanks guys." Mike mumbled as he sat leaning towards the wall with closed eyes next to the toilet.
Donna took over a little bit helped Mike to drink the water and wiped his face with a cloth. They spoked quietly to each other and Harvey could tell that Mike was feeling a little better. He even smiled. Harvey took a step back and let Donna help Mike brush his teeth and get to bed. He patted Mike's back when they walked past him. It hadn't been such a good day for the man.
The next day Mike was doing a bit better and when Harvey got to his room that morning Mike was already awake and was doing something on his phone. He claimed that he was pain-free and didn't feel nauseated.
"Yesterday was just a bad day." He said.
Harvey didn't know what to believe, he just threw some pants at Mike and left for the kitchen. Twenty minutes later Mike showed up, one of his hats on and the hoodie Harvey had given him on his birthday. Mike wore it a lot.
"I do feel better Harvey, I promise." Mike told him after breakfast when Harvey tried to get Mike to go and lay down.
"You know I have a hard time taking your word for that right?" He said.
"What do you mean? You don't trust me?"
Harvey looked up from his computer then and saw that Mike was smiling. "No way." He said and went back to work.
"Is that why you are working from home today? You know you can get Adam here, right? Isn't that what you are paying him for?"
"Maybe I want to save some money." Harvey said without looking up.
"Oh." Mike said quietly. Luckily, he remained quiet after that so that Harvey was able to concentrate on what he was doing. A few minutes later he threw a glance at Mike and immediately stopped typing. He could tell right away that something was wrong.
"What is it?" Mike kept staring down at the table. His phone laying next to his hand.
"Mike?"
Mike looked up him then. "Harvey…" He started.
"Yes, what is it? What's wrong?"
"Nothing is wrong, I just…" He bit his lip. "I've never even given the money issue much thought. I'm sorry." He shook his head a bit. "You been paying for everything, and I have just taken it for granted, I should really…"
"You know what, let me stop you right there. I see where this is going. Mike, there is no money issue here."
"But Harvey, you pay for everything! You pay for my meds, Adam, food, everything!"
"Don't get worked up over that. If you haven't noticed before, I'm actually quite rich Mike."
"Oh, come on. You know what I mean. And besides, I know for a fact that you don't make as much money now. I've kept you away from work for months on end."
"And that was my own decision Mike. I wanted to be here for you. I don't care about the money, and neither should you."
"But…"
"But nothing Mike. Everything is okay. Hey, look at me."
Mike sighed and did.
"There is no money issue." Harvey repeated.
Eventually Mike nodded a little. "Okay. Thank you, Harvey."
"You can thank me, by going to the couch and stop bothering me when I work. Otherwise Jessica will fire me, and we will actually have an issue."
Mike rolled his eyes at him, mumbled an insult and then did what he was told. Harvey smiled to himself and went back to focus on the computer screen.
The days went on like that. Harvey worked from home most days, except when Adam came over and stayed with Mike. Donna made regular visits as well, sometimes she accompanied Harvey home from work and had dinner with them. Sometimes all four of them, sometimes just Harvey, Mike and Donna. Mike went to regular treatment appointments. He had chemo, radiation and the trial drug now. They mostly switched it up so that he didn't have all three at once. Mike still struggled with side effects almost every time, but often they were mild.
It was one time after a treatment session with both chemo and the trial drug that Mike scared Harvey haft to death for a few seconds when he had a mild seizure. It was awful to watch Mike lay there in bed with his whole body twitching, and Harvey couldn't do anything at all to help him. The seizure was over after about thirty seconds and Mike came to again.
"I'm fine…" He slurred and Harvey told him to shut up.
"You are not fine." He placed a call to Mike's doctor but was told that if Mike was talking and had a normal pulse he didn't have to come to the hospital. He also told Harvey to keep an eye on Mike just to be sure, so that night Harvey slept on the chair in Mike's room.
"Harvey, I'm fine. I promise. The worst is over. I don't feel sick anymore. You don't have to stay here all night."
Harvey refused to listen to him, and he found himself sitting there long after Mike had fallen asleep, just watching how the kid's chest rose and fell. He hated the seizures.
-SUITS-
Mike groaned and rolled over on his stomach. He blinked a few times and looked at his phone. 6:35, too early to wake up. He saw Harvey was in the chair, sleeping with his head leaned uncomfortably to the side. Mike rolled his eyes a bit. Harvey really was overprotective. Most of the time he didn't mind of course, but Harvey didn't seem to listen to what Mike was telling him. Harvey just dismissed him when he said that he was feeling better. It annoyed him to some degree. He tried to not think about it, he knew that Harvey only wanted what was best for him. It was just that sometimes Mike didn't agree with what Harvey thought was best.
He wasn't tired all the time anymore, and some nights he felt like staying up a bit longer, maybe finish the movie they were watching and not going to bed because Harvey told him to.
"You know I'm not some child, right?" Mike said when Harvey told him that it was late and time for bed, one night.
"You could have fooled me. Did you take your meds?"
"Yes, I did."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes." Mike got up from the couch and left then, because he didn't want to say anything stupid to Harvey. It was Harvey that had told him about two hours ago, to take the evening dose, and he had done that then. Now it was like Harvey didn't trust that he had done it. He didn't say good night to Harvey when he went to his bedroom, but Harvey came to check on him before he went to bed himself.
"You good?" He asked.
"Yeah." Mike sighed.
"See you tomorrow then." Harvey put down the baby monitor that he just had turned on. Harvey still insisted on using it every night. Mike knew that it might be useful, and that it was a sort of security for both of them, but he still felt embarrassed about it sometimes. He was a grown man.
It was hard for him to deal with these new feelings of wanting more independence. He knew that he still had heart cancer, and anything could happen at any time. But he didn't feel as scared of it anymore. Somehow, he felt calmer in his situation and that was what lead to the need for a little more independence.
In a few days he would have a meeting with his doctors to check on his progress. They would see if the treatment and the trial doses he had received had had any effect. He was nervous about it and preferred not to think about it too much. It was hard not to though.
Harvey noticed his nervousness and translated it into him getting worse. It annoyed Mike, but at the same time something in him made him keep quiet about it worry. He just needed to hear some good news. He thought that it was time for that.
"Do you want me to help you?" Harvey asked when Mike announced that he was taking a shower.
"No." Mike slipped into the bathroom before Harvey could say anything else. He heard Harvey call out for him though.
"Don't lock the door!"
Mike rolled his eyes and was tempted to do just that now. He hadn't had a thought about locking before Harvey told him not to. He resisted the urge though. He knew that Harvey was right, he could collapse in the shower and with a locked door it would take Harvey much longer to get in to him.
Donna came over to stay with him that afternoon, while Harvey went to the office. They played card games a couple of hours and Donna accompanied him to the hospital for a quick test. Harvey was waiting for them when they got back home. The other man had a bunch of questions, that Mike couldn't answer.
"Harvey, they didn't tell me anything. It was just some test." He said and sat down on the couch.
"You in pain or something?" Harvey asked.
"No… Harvey. I'm good."
"You're good?"
"Yes." Mike couldn't help but roll his eyes a little. Harvey didn't see it though, he made sure of that.
They had dinner, watched a movie and after that Harvey thought that Mike should go to bed. Mike disagreed, he didn't feel that tired, but Harvey insisted. So, Mike figured that he should just do it. He didn't want to argue. He slept well, without nightmares. He had been having those less lately.
Harvey had arranged for Adam to come and stay with him the next day. Mike woke up from Harvey sitting next to him on the edge of his bed.
"How are you feeling?" Harvey asked with his hand on Mike's shoulder.
"I'm good. You know, I just woke up."
"Yeah, I woke you."
Mike smiled a little. "I guess."
He stretched out a bit and Harvey removed his hand.
"You going to work?" Mike looked at his pants.
"Yes. As soon as Adam gets here."
"Alright. Did you have breakfast already?"
"Not yet. I was waiting for you."
Adam arrived while they were seated at the kitchen island and Harvey left soon after. Mike looked after him until Adam nudged his arm.
"Did you take the meds?" The nurse asked him, and Mike felt an urge to roll his eyes.
"Yeah." He muttered instead. He felt fine today, but here he was with his personal nurse.
"So, what's the plan for today then?" He asked Adam, who shrugged.
"How about some resting mixed with eating healthy and napping?"
Mike glared at him this time. "Sounds great. I can't wait."
They did spend a lot of the day at the couch. Mike suggested they go for a walk, but Adam said that he wanted to clear that with Harvey first.
"Besides, aren't you going to the hospital tomorrow? We better take it easy."
So, that was a no then. Mike couldn't remember the last time he was out for a walk, was it last month? He glanced towards the balcony, at least that would be something. He stood up and walked over towards the door.
"Mike?" Adam stopped him. "You should get dressed."
"I am dressed."
"You slept in that, didn't you?"
"Yeah, maybe." Mike muttered. "What would you like me to wear then?"
"I'll see if I can find something." Adam disappeared towards the bedroom. Mike rolled his eyes and stepped out on the balcony. It was actually pretty cold outside, but Adam would come soon, so Mike didn't care. He leaned against the railing and took a deep breath. It felt nice. What if he actually was getting better? What if he could survive this? Recently the thought had been in his mind more often. He didn't like that much to think about his chances. He still remembered as it was last night, how he had gotten the news about that he had about ten percent chance of surviving the cancer. He wondered what that number was now.
"You really wanted to go outside huh?" Adam was standing behind him holding out a jacket towards him. He also had a blanket thrown over his shoulder and held a glass juice in his other hand. Mike smiled and took the jacket. He let Adam help him put it on and then he was ushered to one of the chairs.
"You know I don't feel that bad, right."
"Well, we don't want you to get worse again. So, for now I think it's best to take it easy Mike."
"Yeah. Whatever." Mike sighed.
He was actually a bit tired. Maybe he would just take a nap, at least some time would pass then. The weather was nice, and it was comfortable out here. Adam had picked up a book and was sitting on a chair beside him now. He barely noticed when he fell asleep.
He woke some time later from Adam shaking him. "We should go inside and have some lunch." The nurse said. Mike did what he was told.
It was a boring day. They watched a documentary on Netflix after lunch. Mike checked his phone for a bit. He gave Donna a call and ended up talking to her for almost an hour. She promised to come by soon. He was tempted to ask her if she could come over right away, but he didn't.
Harvey got home pretty early, and they had dinner together, all three of them. Then Adam left and Mike took a shower and then joined Harvey in the living room.
"Are you going with me tomorrow?" Mike wanted to know.
"Yeah, of course." Harvey said without looking up from his phone.
"Okay. You know, you don't have to if you have better things to do." Mike said.
Harvey looked at him then.
"What are you talking about? What would that be? I'm coming."
And that was that. Mike smiled to himself. Harvey always had his back. He stood up and walked over to Harvey and patted his shoulder a bit.
"Thanks. I'm going to bed." He said and smiled at Harvey's surprised expression.
Harvey was waiting in his bedroom when he came back from the bathroom.
"Are you doing okay?" He wanted to know.
"Yes. I'm fine, Harvey."
"You sure, it seemed like something was up." Harvey insisted.
"No. I'm fine."
"You want me to stay until you fall asleep?" Harvey asked next.
"No, you don't have to do that. I'm good." Mike patiently said. Harvey had this suspicious expression on his face, like he thought Mike was lying.
"Well…" He said. "Do you mind if I finish up in here then?" He said and pointed to his computer on the desk.
"Eh… If you want, I guess. It's your office."
"No, this is your space, Mike."
Harvey stayed until he fell asleep and the next morning, Mike noticed that the baby monitor had been moved. He shook his head a bit at that. Harvey really must think that something was wrong.
It the car on their way to the hospital Mike started to feel nervous about the meeting that they were having with Dr. Lundin. He got a bit annoyed though when Harvey wanted to help him out of the car.
"I can walk you know." He told the older man.
"Most of the time, yeah." Harvey said, then he started walking a little too fast for Mike's taste, probably just to mess with him. But he waited for him at the hospital entrance.
The doctor was waiting for them with Mike's files in front of him. He greeted them and they talked a while about traffic and then whether Mike had slept well or not. Harvey helpfully told the doctor that Mike hadn't suffered any nightmares that he had heard.
Then they started to go through the test results.
"I want you to take a look at this numbers in particular. We can see a drop in them during the last three blood samples." That was positive news. It might even mean one less medication.
Then they moved on to x-rays of his chest. The news wasn't what Mike had hoped for.
"Although we don't really see that much of a decrease in the cancer cells, we also don't see an increase and that is good news." The doctor said and pointed here and there on the black and white picture. Mike stared at the small dots and hated them. He wanted to be done with this now. He wanted to stop going to these meetings, wanted a stop to all the tests, treatments, and hospitalizations. He stopped listening as Dr. Lundin continued, showing them some other papers.
The damn cancer was still there. But he was feeling better. He had been sure that it would have at least lessened a little bit. He felt angry.
As soon as the opportunity presented himself, he stood up to leave. Harvey didn't seem satisfied though and had a few more questions, forcing Mike to stand there and wait for him.
"That wasn't so bad." Harvey said when they finally started to walk back towards the exit. Mike didn't answer him.
"Look, I know you wanted better news Mike, but at least you are not getting worse. I'll take that as a win." Harvey insisted.
"Whatever." Mike muttered and walked in front of Harvey through the doors.
"So, how are you doing?" Harvey asked when they were in the car.
"I'm fine." Mike said without looking at him. For a little bit he wished that everyone would just stop asking him that question.
"Can we go for a walk or something?" Mike asked when then stopped outside Harvey's building.
"No, you should get some rest." Harvey said.
"Come on! I told you I'm fine. Let's do something!" Mike complained.
"No, Mike. You heard Dr. Lundin. You still have a long journey ahead of you and you need to take it easy. That meeting was enough for today."
Mike, who hadn't heard that at all glared at him. "That's all he ever says. I feel fine." He repeated for the millionth time.
"Let's go." Harvey just said and held the door opened for him. Mike had to suppress an urge to just turn around and walk in the other direction. He didn't do that though, instead he went up with Harvey. He went to his room without another word to the other man and closed the door behind him. He knew that he probably was acting childish, but he didn't care. All he had asked for was a walk outside. They could have walked to a coffee shop or something if Harvey was that worried about him getting worse. But no, he was practically locked up in here now, as usual. They all just decided for him, like he was some child. They didn't seem to believe him when he said that he felt better.
Donna came over later that day and they did have a nice time. She had him sit next to her on the couch and proceeded to show him pictures of her phone from the office, they had had some event there, last weekend. When Harvey went to the bathroom Mike asked her about it.
"But why didn't Harvey go?"
"I think you know the answer to that Mike."
"Because of me. He could have gone. I bet Jessica wanted him there."
"Harvey makes his own decisions Mike, Jessica knows that."
"But I'm doing better, I can stay by myself for one night."
Donna smiled at him and squeezed his hand a little. "I know you think that Mike, but we can't risk that."
Mike opened his mouth to argue but stopped himself. His memory took him back to the last time his heart had stopped. Maybe Donna had a point.
"Adam could have come." He looked down at his lap and felt embarrassed.
"It's no big deal Mike. Harvey doesn't even like those things; he is always complaining about having to mingle with the clients."
Mike didn't know if he believed her or not. But it reminded him about how much Harvey was giving up for him. He should really try and let Harvey enjoy himself more. He didn't know how though.
-SUITS-
Again, at night Mike claimed that he was fine, and that Harvey should just go to bed. Mike really seemed to believe that he was getting better. It was great that the kid was so optimistic, but the truth was that it wasn't a time to start to relax, Mike could still get a heart attack at any moment, it was a real possibility. Mike seemed to have forgotten that. Over and over he said that he was fine, and lately he had started to go on about going for a walk.
They even argued a bit about it. Mike said that he was bored and felt okay. He said that he just wanted to head out for a bit, they could go to a café he said. But Harvey said no.
"You have chemo tomorrow."
"Yeah, I know. That's why I want to go today."
"It's not going to happen Mike, it's an unnecessary risk."
"Going for a walk won't kill me, you know!"
"Actually, it might. Don't be stupid Mike, you know that you have to take it easy. It is too early for you to go out."
"Oh, shut up Harvey. You are the one that is stupid. I just need to get out of here for a bit, or I'll die from boredom."
"It won't be that either." Harvey said dryly.
"Oh, screw you." Mike had muttered and disappeared into his bedroom. Harvey glared after him. What was going on with that kid? Sure, he could have taken Mike outside for a bit, insisted that he stayed in the wheelchair they still had at home, but he didn't want to risk anything. He still remembered the pneumonia. When he checked on Mike half an hour later, Mike was sleeping on top of the bed, laying there curled up. Harvey sighed as he threw a blanket over the man.
Harvey didn't accompany Mike to the hospital the next morning since he had a job meeting. He hadn't told Mike that, instead he just said that Adam was going to meet him at the hospital. He was in contact with Adam through text and the nurse let him know that Mike was doing okay and that they were going home after the treatment. Two hours later Harvey got a detailed update about how many times Mike had thrown up and how many pills Adam had given him, and that Mike was sleeping at the moment.
When Harvey got home early evening Mike was still asleep, or Adam said that he had been awake a few hours in between. The nurse left the care of Mike in Harvey's hands and said that he would come back the next day. Harvey checked on Mike, replaced the water on his nightstand and turned on the baby monitor and then went to the table to get some work done.
Mike wasn't doing well that night and had called out for him a couple of hours later. When Harvey came into the room Mike looked to be close to panic and was struggling to get upright in bed.
"I just need to throw up." He exclaimed and Harvey deemed it quicker to get something to Mike, rather than drag him to the bathroom. This was his everyday life, he thought a few minutes later in the bathroom, cleaning out the bucket he had gotten for Mike. It had been such a long time now, that he didn't reflect much on it. Mike on his part seemed to be growing a bit more restless though, or even impatient.
"I just wish I could do more." He had exclaimed one night. "I'm sick of this, waking up, taking meds, breakfast, a nap, hospital visits, chest pains, another nap…I mean what life is this?"
"Well, at least it's not heart failure, ventilator, and coughing your lungs out, so there is that to be grateful for." Harvey had responded. Mike had glared at him for a bit.
"But it's not preparing for court, going through briefs and all-nighters either."
"Do you miss the all-nighters?"
"Yeah…" Mike had sighed. "At least a little bit."
"I bet you won't say that after your first one, when you get back at the office."
"If I ever get back." Mike had mumbled, but when Harvey asked him to repeat himself, he had just said that it was nothing.
Even though if Harvey could understand his frustration, he wanted Mike to be patient. There wouldn't be any miracle recovery for him, for now Harvey was relieved that at least the kid didn't get worse.
Mike redeemed himself recovered the next day. He complained about being bored and rolled his eyes when Harvey threw him a file. He did pick it up though. Adam came and Harvey went to work. Donna visited Mike that day, and she later told Harvey that Mike had asked if they could go for a walk. Donna had offered to drive him in the wheelchair, but Mike had told her to forget it then.
Adam was unavailable the next day, so Harvey stayed at home with Mike. It wasn't ideal, he had a partner meeting that he was going to miss, and he knew that Jessica wouldn't like that. She was always understanding, but sometimes Harvey could see something in her eyes that signaled something else. It was a long time ago since she had asked him about Mike, or visited him for that matter, but Harvey knew not to bring that up. He knew that it was important though when she called him and asked if he had the possibility of coming into the office, it was something about an important vote. Mike heard the call.
"Harvey. Go to the meeting." Mike said. "I'll be fine."
"You don't know that."
"Yes, I do. Nothing is going to happen! You don't need to babysit me at all times."
Harvey raised his eyebrows at that.
"Maybe I need some space, Harvey. I'm fine! Just go would you."
Harvey weighed his options. He would be gone for about two hours; it wasn't that long. Not much could happen during that time. But what if it did. He would never forgive himself.
"And what if you have a heart attack huh?" He asked Mike. "And I'm not here?"
"I'm not going to have a heart attack. Jesus Harvey."
"You know it's a possibility."
Mike sighed. "Yeah, sure. And it might always be a possibility for me, but Harvey you can't put your life on hold for me forever. You know I appreciate everything you do, but sometimes you do too much."
Harvey stared at him. Too much? He felt a flare of annoyance. What did he mean by that?
"So, is it something that I do that you don't like then? Huh?"
"No, I'm just saying that I feel responsible for preventing you to do what you want in your life."
"Who says I'm not doing what I want?"
"God, Harvey. No one! But just go to the meeting will you. I'll call you right away if something is wrong."
"You bet your ass you will."
"Yes, just go."
"I'm going to go." Harvey said slowly. "But I'm going to talk to the door man and let him know that you are here alone. And if something happens, I'm going to send him up here."
"What? You don't need to do that!"
"I'll be back in two hours. You are going to stay on that couch the whole time. I'm going to have my phone on, and you are going to call me right away if you so much as sneezes. You understand?"
Mike rolled his eyes. "Fine." He muttered.
As Harvey stepped out the door, he really hoped that this wasn't a mistake. But he didn't have time to get someone else over here to stay with Mike, the meeting started in twenty minutes.
-SUITS-
Mike heard the door close after Harvey and checked his phone. Two hours Harvey had said. He looked out the window. It looked like it was a nice day. He stood up and went out on the balcony and got confirmation that it in fact was. What if he should take a walk? Head to the park and just sit on a bench for a while, or maybe even order himself something to drink. He hadn't had coffee in forever. But that wasn't a good idea, one of the nurses had told him the effects of caffeine once. But a juice maybe. That was healthy. Fresh air was healthy too.
But he shouldn't do it. He had promised Harvey to stay on the couch. He didn't have to tell Harvey though. He could go and then come back before Harvey did, no one would know. He just needed to do something, just anything normal. Yes, he was going to do it.
He decided to wait until he was sure that Harvey was on the meeting, because what he met him in the lobby or something? That would be a disaster.
He texted Harvey half an hour later.
Are you on the meeting yet? I'm still on the couch
He got a reply a minute later.
Yep. Just as boring as I thought. And now Jessica is staring at me for texting.
Mike smiled to himself. If he was going to do this it had to be now. He was just going to go to the park and back. He wouldn't be gone for more than an hour. It was no big deal. He felt more exited then he had in weeks, and the whole thing of doing it in secrete amplified that feeling.
At first, he couldn't find his jacket. He had no idea where he had put it. And it was weird that he didn't find it right away, but ten minutes later he found it underneath a towel in his room. Who had left it there?
He almost felt nervous when he locked the front door, like he was doing something wrong. Which he was. Harvey would kill him if he found out. But he felt fine, not in pain or short of breath or anything.
"Mr. Ross?"
Mike jerked much more than was cool when he heard someone calling his name when he was heading through the lobby. He turned and saw the door man coming towards him.
"What are you doing man, Harvey said that you were up there alone?"
"Yeah, I'm just going to take a walk." Mike smiled.
The other man watched him suspiciously. "Harvey told me to be prepared to get up and help you if you had a heart failure! How am I supposed to do that if you are not there?"
Mike groaned. "He said that. I'm fine. You don't have to worry, Harvey is overreacting. I'll be back before you know it." He blinked at the man and before he said anything else to stop him Mike pushed his way past him and out the door.
It was sunny outside and pretty warm, he almost felt a bit stupid for the hat he was wearing, but he wasn't going to take it off. He started walking down the street in direction towards the park. He felt better than he had felt in a long time. He felt normal, like he was just like anyone else on the street.
It wasn't that far of a walk to the park and he still felt fine. He wasn't used to walking this much though, and his legs felt a little funny. What if he actually would be sore tomorrow? That would be a bit embarrassing.
He was almost there when he started to notice that it was getting a bit harder to breathe, and that he had started to walk slower. He actually felt a little dizzy and out of breath. Shit. He decided to ignore it and kept going. He could do it.
He was beginning to think that maybe this hadn't been such a good idea, but he was there, he was at the park. He stumbled over to a bench and tried to slow his breathing down. His lungs burned and he was getting worried. He leaned forward and tried to catch his breath. It took him several anguishing minutes to do so. Eventually he was fairly sure that he wasn't going to pass out, and that was pretty reassuring. He felt weirdly tired though.
He leaned back on the bench and looked around. A young couple walked past him hand in hand, both looking straight at him. Mike smiled towards them, but they didn't smile back. He kind of wished that he had something to drink, his throat felt dry.
The bench he was sitting on was just at the entrance of the park, right next to a tree, so he was in the shadows. Mike looked upwards and watched how the light played around the branches. It was beautiful. He was glad that he did this. So, what if it left him a little winded, he was still breathing deeply. It felt worth it though. This was exactly what he had been looking for. Just being outside and see something different, remind himself of the world outside Harvey's condo and the hospital. Remind himself of what he was missing out on. He noticed that his eyes had filled with moisture, and he rolled his eyes at himself and blinked it away.
He didn't know how long he was sitting there, just looking at the trees and the people around him. But a slight panic spread inside him as he looked at his watch. He had been sitting here for almost forty minutes and Harvey must be on his way home by now. Shit, shit, shit. He really should be getting back home.
He sat up a little straighter and placed his feet below him. His arms shook a little as he was preparing to heave himself upright. His legs didn't carry him when he stood up and he fell right back down on the bench. This wasn't good at all. He tried again with the same result.
Okay, he could solve this, there was no reason to get upset, things wouldn't get better from that. All he had to do was just to sit here a little longer until he felt fine enough to walk back home. Easy.
Ten minutes later Mike decided to give it another go. He got up to his feet with the help of the bench. He stood there, holding on to it hard. He didn't dare to let go because it actually felt like his legs was going to fold below him. This wasn't good at all. In fact, it was really bad. But he could do it, needed to do it, or else Harvey would kill him. Harvey who thought that Mike was at home, laying on the couch. Harvey would be back home in less than half an hour, a bit more if it was traffic. Mike really hoped there was a lot of traffic.
He experimentally took a few steps towards the park exit. No. No, this wasn't going to work. He needed to sit down again. He heavily fell back down to sitting. He was starting to breathe a little faster. A slight panic was starting to creep up on him. He was beginning to realize that he wasn't going to be able to walk back home. In fact, his legs were shaky and was starting to ache. He wasn't used to walking this far. He wasn't going to be able to make it back. He felt how his eyes was starting to water but he angerly stared straight ahead until it went away. He wasn't going to cry about this. That was stupid. So what if he couldn't make it back. He would just have to call Harvey and tell him to come and pick him up. He would have to deal with the consequences. He had asked Harvey over and over if they could take a walk, and now Harvey would know that he was serious.
It was just that he doubted Harvey would see it like that. Harvey would rather yell at him for hours now. He had lied to Harvey and walked outside. He had put himself in danger. He realized that.
He glanced at his phone. Harvey would be home in fifteen minutes. He was probably in the car now. Mike wouldn't be able to get home before him; it was a fact. But he had to try. Maybe he would at least be able to meet Harvey in the lobby. He could pretend that he had gone down to meet him.
Without giving it much more thought he stood up again and started walking. He was going to do it. He could walk home. It wasn't far. He got to a pedestrian crossing and had to hold on hard to a pole to keep himself upright. His heart was beating hard in his chest and he tried his best in not to think about that. It was hard to breathe as well. he was getting scared. He wasn't sure he would be able to cross the street when the light turned green. His eyes had watered again, and he looked around at the people beside him. No one looked his way.
It turned green. A man pushed past him and Mike stumbled out into the street. He had a hard time walking straight and people coming from the other direction had to step aside for him. He needed to sit down. Now.
He got over to the other side of the street and leaned against the wall as he walked and found a couple of stairs to sit down on. He leaned his upper body forward and tried to get his breathing under control. He wanted to lay down. He was all alone. He needed help, he realized that now. He couldn't walk any longer. He had been stupid. So stupid. Harvey would be so pissed.
Then his phone rang.
-SUITS-
As usual the partner meeting was boring. It was insignificant subjects that was brought up for discussion and Harvey just wanted to tell them all to shut up and just make a decision and then deal with the consequences. Jessica didn't agree with that approach, so here they were.
When it finally ended Harvey nodded toward Jessica and was first out the door. He went by his office and spoke some to Donna. She promised to set a up a few meetings for him, and cancel a few as well, if that wasn't possible, she would make them into phone calls instead. He could call clients from home.
Ray was waiting for him downstairs and it looked like he was going to be able to keep his promise to Mike and be home within two hours. He thanked Ray for the day and went up to his condo.
His empty condo.
Where the hell was Mike?! He called Mike's name and did a quick tour of the place, but the kid wasn't there. It was empty. Did Mike have a doctor's appointment today that he had forgotten about. He got out his phone and opened the app he used to keep trap of all the hospital appointments, but nothing.
His fingers shook from oncoming panic as he dialed Mike's number. Relief flooded through him when Mike answered after three signals.
"Harvey?" He sounded out of breath.
"Where the hell are you Mike?"
It was quiet a long time from the other line. He could hear Mike breathing hard.
"I went for a walk." He then said.
"You did what?!" Harvey found that he almost yelled. "You went for a walk?"
"Yeah." Mike said shortly. "A walk."
"Why the hell would you do something like that? Mike, have you lost your damn mind?"
"No. I just…I felt like it."
"You felt like…" Harvey had to remove his phone from his ear. He took a deep breath. "Where are you now?" He asked next and did his best to remain calm as Mike told him.
"You stay right there. Don't you move."
Harvey hang up without giving Mike time to answer. He knew that Mike would do as he said. He called Ray on his way towards the elevator. The driver hadn't gotten that far and promised to return. It might have taken Harvey less time if he had walked to where Mike was, but he had a feeling that they would need a car. He contemplated on calling Mike again but didn't. Right now, he felt too angry, and he might say something that he would regret later. But what the hell had the kid been thinking? He cursed to himself as he looked for Ray's car.
Mike was sitting on a couple of stairs to a building entrance. Ray saw him first and pointed him out and then did a U-turn and stopped the car next to Mike. Harvey took a deep breathe before he stepped out. Mike hadn't looked up and sat with his head bent down low. He was breathing hard but looked otherwise unharmed.
"What the hell were you thinking?" Harvey stopped in front of Mike, who looked up at his voice. He was a bit flushed and his eyes were a bit red. Harvey didn't care at all.
"I was just going to go for a walk."
"And what made you think that was a good idea?" Harvey clenched his teeth hard together as he fought to remain calm. His whole body felt tense. Mike didn't answer.
"You can't do stupid shit like this! You know you can't!" Harvey yelled now and Mike stared down at the ground.
"You refused to take me! I asked you, but you refused. So, I went myself."
"You went by yourself…" Harvey huffed. "You're an idiot, you know that."
Mike glared at him, so Harvey continued. He couldn't let it go.
"I told you this is too early! I told you, you couldn't do it!"
"Alright! Fine. You were right, Harvey. You were right, is that what you want me to say."
"I don't want you to say anything. I've heard enough from you. I want you to get into the damn car!"
"Screw you and screw your stupid car!" Mike sat up straighter now, apparently, he had changed his mind about Harvey being right. "I was doing fine."
"Yeah, is that way you are sitting here then?"
"You told me to stay where I was." Mike muttered.
"Oh, so that time you listened to me. But not the times when I told you that going out wasn't a good idea, not when I told you it was too early, and that you are not strong enough. You could have gotten yourself killed. You could have suffered a damn heart attack. You are too sick for this!"
"I could have, but I didn't! I'm fine Harvey." Mike yelled back now. "I'm fine."
"Yeah, you know what? If you are that fine, then you can walk back home by yourself then. And I'll take my stupid car and go."
Harvey marched over to the car opened the door and got in without looking back at Mike.
"Let's go Ray." The driver looked hesitantly at him in the rear-view mirror. "Now!" They left.
Harvey felt himself almost shake from anger. Damn Mike. Damn him. He felt so angry at the kid. They stopped at a red light and Harvey couldn't help but turn in his seat to look back at Mike. They younger man had his head buried against his knees now. Harvey could see his how his back was heaving. Maybe he was crying.
He couldn't leave him there. What was he doing? He knew that most of the rage he had just felt came from fear. He had let himself imagine the worst. Mike falling down on the sidewalk with heart failure from the effort of the walk. No one would react in time to save his life, because Mike would look like a homeless person, with his hat and hoodie and dark circles below his eyes in his emaciated face. And by the time someone approached him it would be too late, and Harvey would get the call he feared the most in life.
"Ray. Can you go back, please?" He said quietly.
"Sure. Mr. Specter." Came Ray's soft voice from the front and a coupe of minutes later they yet again stopped next to Mike, who was in the same position as before. Harvey got out of the car again.
"Mike. Let's go." He said. He was still angry at the kid, but he could yell some more at him when he was sure that Mike was fine. Mike slowly straightened up now. He swayed a little and a smile played on his lips, but it went away when he met Harvey's eyes.
Harvey opened the car door and then walked over to the other side of the car to get in himself, but when he looked over towards Mike he hadn't moved. Anger once again flared up inside him, was the kid seriously going to refuse to go with him? He once again walked around the car preparing to give Mike an earful, but he stopped himself.
"You can't get up. Can you?" He asked instead.
Mike swallowed and looked down on the ground as he shook his head.
Harvey sighed and walked over to where Mike was sitting and bent down. He got Mike's arm over his shoulder and managed to drag him over to the car and get him into it. Mike stumbled and Harvey could feel how he was shaking as he lowered him to sit down. But Harvey closed the door hard next to him and walked over to the other side of the car to get in. Mike stared down at his feet.
"Seatbelt." Harvey said.
Mike reached for it and started to pull it over his chest. Somehow it got tangled up and he pulled at it. Harvey sighed and then reached over him, grabbed the belt, and buckled it. Mike had closed his eyes. They started to drive again and neither of them said anything.
Harvey refused to look at the kid. He couldn't allow himself to do so. Mike had deceived him; he must have planned all of this. He thought about the text Mike had sent him during the meeting. Had he even been home then. This meant that Harvey couldn't trust him. He couldn't leave him alone. That meant more work for him. He would either have to stay at home more again, or he would have to arrange someone to come and stay with Mike. Not even two hours he had been able to leave him. Damn it. Harvey didn't want to be dealing with this, why couldn't Mike just do what he was told?
"Thank you."
Mike suddenly said out into the silence that had been pressing over them. Harvey choose to just nod when he met Mike's eyes briefly. They didn't say anything else after that during the rest of the short car ride. Harvey got out of the car and opened the door for Mike. The kid slowly started to get out, moving stiffly. However, he stopped when he had gotten his legs on the ground and ended up just sitting there. Harvey sighed and grabbed him and heaved Mike up and out of the car. He felt how tense Mike was and the movement he had him in after pulling him out didn't end, instead Mike was continuing forward and down. Harvey grunted as he pulled Mike's arm to stop him from going down. He didn't really manage, and Mike ended up on his knees hanging by the arm Harvey was holding.
"Mike!"
He hadn't known it was this bad. But he was still mad at Mike and he couldn't stop the irritation from coming through his voice.
"Damn it!"
He hoisted Mike back up and managed to get him to stand. Mike didn't say a word. Harvey started to drag him along with him forward towards his building. They didn't get all the way over there though because Mike's legs yet again failed him, and he stumbled and went down before Harvey could stop it entirely.
"Mike! What the hell!" Harvey exclaimed, still holding on to the man's arm.
Mike grunted and managed to yank his arm free. "Stop it." He mumbled. He managed to get up on his feet again and started to make his way towards the door. Harvey shook his head and clenched his teeth and followed him. However, Mike didn't make it. He stumbled again and ended up on his knees. Harvey swore again as he went over to drag the kid up, but Mike pushed him away.
"Don't touch me!" He exclaimed and then had to brace himself with his hands to not crash to the ground. Harvey found himself standing there looking down on him as he was on all fours on the ground. Mike was panting loud enough for Harvey to hear it.
"Mike, come on. Let's just get inside."
"No, leave me alone!"
"And what? Leave you the ground? You won't be able to get up by yourself."
"Yes, I will."
"No, you won't. Stop being so fucking stupid."
Maybe it was a bit harsh, but Harvey was done with him at the moment. He grabbed Mike rather hard and pulled him upright. He ignored Mike's attempt at trying to pull himself lose. He suspected that Mike actually put all he had into the effort, but it was no match at all for Harvey. He had a hard grip around Mike's arm and dragged him with him inside.
They walked past the door man who stood up at the sight of them. He didn't say anything though and Harvey ignored him. He had told that man to keep an eye on Mike, so much for that. He hadn't even seen him when he had gotten home earlier.
He kept his grip on Mike all the way up in the elevator, he was pretty sure he was holding the kid upright with his grip. Mike didn't say anything and neither did Harvey. He didn't need to.
He pulled Mike with him to the couch when they got inside the condo and pushed him down on to it.
"You stay there." He said. Then he went to his bedroom. Both to change out of his suit and to be by himself for a few minutes. He still felt angry at Mike, but at least he had gotten him home now. And if he was honest, he didn't feel like yelling at the kid anymore. Mike knew what he had done had been stupid.
He didn't feel like joining Mike in the living room, but he needed to check that Mike hadn't caused himself too much damage. He walked out of the bedroom and found Mike exactly where he had left him. He sat there leaned back on the couch with his hand wrapped around his other arm.
"Are you good?" Harvey asked him.
"Yes." Mike said.
"How is your breathing? Any chest pains?"
"I'm fine."
"Okay. I'll be in the office." He left Mike where he was and closed the door behind him. For a moment he sat down on Mike's bed and rubbed his face a bit. Today had been a shitty day so far, and he still felt so angry at Mike. They should probably have a talk, but Harvey didn't feel like giving a lecture right now. He ended up staying in the office for a few hours. He could hear how Mike had turned on the TV. He heard when Mike went to the bathroom and took a shower. When he was sure Mike was in the bathroom he went out and headed to the door to the bathroom and listened. He didn't hear anything out of the ordinary, so he headed back. Mike seemed fine.
When it was time for dinner Harvey went out to the kitchen, intended to cook them something. Mike was asleep on the couch. Harvey woke him when dinner was ready. Mike watched him for a while before slowly joining him at the table. He reached for the small cup of meds that Harvey had placed next to his plate as usual. Harvey started to eat in silence.
When Mike had finished his dose of medication he looked up at Harvey.
"Ehm… Look, Harvey. I know you're pissed, but…"
"Damn right I am. You persuaded me to go to that meeting and leave you here alone. You had planned this."
Mike didn't deny it, instead he shrugged. "I just wanted to go outside for a bit. I wanted to do something normal."
"And look how that went."
"I know it wasn't the ideal outcome, but nothing happened. I'm fine now, so I don't see why you are so…"
Harvey didn't let him continue. "The ideal outcome! You didn't die, you mean. That's great Mike, but I got home to an empty place. I didn't know where you were. And what if you had passed out? What if you had forgotten your phone. You know just as well as I do, that you wouldn't have been able to get home by yourself. What was your plan for that?"
"I thought I could make it." Mike muttered and stuffed his fork in his mouth.
"But you didn't!" Harvey all but yelled. "You didn't Mike. You could have been in serious trouble, for nothing. You are never doing something like this again. You hear me?!"
"Yeah, I hear you." Mike was staring down at his plate. He had the sense to not argue, but Harvey was still too angry to sit opposite of him. He got up from the table and headed back to the office, leaving Mike to finish the dinner alone.
-SUITS-
Mike sighed a little as he heard how Harvey closed the door behind him. He got why the older man was so angry with him. He had decided not to argue. It was a bit hard, but he had managed. He knew that he had been stupid, but at the same time he didn't regret it. But that was something he never would tell Harvey. But he had gotten what he had wanted out of his little adventure. For a while there he had been at peace, he had enjoyed himself and had forgotten about the cancer. He had remembered what it was like to be healthy, to be normal.
Harvey had reminded him now that he wasn't. He could get a heart-attack at any time. That was his reality. Nothing else. He was to just stay inside and wait until he got better. If he ever did.
He picked at the food and then decided that he was finished. He thought of clearing the table but dismissed that idea. It would mean multiple trips back and forth to the kitchen and he didn't think he had it in him at the moment. He knew that it wouldn't help his status with Harvey, but he was pretty much screwed there anyway.
He hated that Harvey was angry with him, but he only had himself to blame. He had been stupid. Harvey was right. For a while there he had been really scared. Especially when Harvey had left in the car that first time. He had thought that Harvey actually was leaving him, and he had been scared because he knew that he wouldn't been able to make it back to the condo. Then he had been so relieved when Harvey came back and got him. He had been angry though and hadn't wanted Harvey's help. He realized that he needed it though and had let Harvey drag him inside. He hadn't said anything about how much it had hurt, Harvey's grip on his arm. It would be bruising there.
Harvey seemed to avoid him now and Mike felt sort of relieved with that. He didn't want to listen to any of Harvey's lectures again, he knew he had been stupid already. He also knew that Harvey probably had more to say. But what else could Mike say, he had done what he had done, and it was no way of changing that.
Harvey stepped out of Mike's room a few hours later and went to his bedroom without a word to Mike. So, that night Mike went to bed without speaking anymore to Harvey. However, when he got into his room, he noticed that Harvey had turned on the baby monitor. It felt touching that even now when Harvey was pissed at him, the older man still cared, he still worried.
"Good night, Harvey." Mike said out into the room as he laid down below the cover. He knew that the other man had heard him, and he was able to fall asleep with that knowledge.
Harvey stayed at home with him the next day. Mike asked him at breakfast whether Adam was coming or not.
"I'm working from home today since I apparently I can't trust you to do what you have been told."
Mike rolled his eyes but didn't say anything. If Harvey wanted to be mad at him, so be it. He went back to his room to lay down again and also to not have to be in the same room as Harvey. Do what you are told, Harvey had said. Like he was some child.
He laid on his stomach, today his chest was hurting quite a lot. He hadn't told Harvey that. It felt kind of hard to draw deep breaths, and it was almost like the air didn't reach as far down as it was supposed to. He should probably tell Harvey about that, but he didn't want to. Harvey would just blame him. He didn't want that either.
He tried to fall asleep again and was successful. When he woke up again his breathing wasn't better, and he was staring to feel scared. Damn it.
"Harvey?" He said. The baby monitor was still on. He got no reaction though. Maybe it would pass. He waited a couple of minutes, but he was starting to feel a bit lightheaded. Screw it, he thought.
"It's hard to breathe."
Harvey was there the next minute. He was nice again then.
"Mike, can you turn around for me? Hey, calm down."
Mike had thought that he was calm. Harvey helped him to turn around. He then decided that they were going to the hospital. He spoke calmly to Mike, and it was like yesterday hadn't happen, like Harvey's anger was gone. In the middle of the whole difficulty breathing thing, that felt nice. Things were normal again between them.
Harvey found the wheelchair from somewhere, and heaved Mike onto it. They went down and into a waiting cab. Mike tried to tell Harvey that things were fine now, but Harvey didn't listen.
"You will be fine. They'll take care of you." Harvey was saying. Mike leaned back and tried to breathe slower. It didn't work all that well.
At the hospital they were met with a few nurses and a Doctor Mike recognized. They brought him to a room, and he was given oxygen. He got to change into hospital clothes, they tested things. Mike let them. He got an IV. They pain lessened and it got easier to breathe. It felt like things was getting back to normal again.
"I'm fine now, Harvey." He said.
"Yeah…we'll see." Harvey said.
They waited for a while; Mike wasn't sure of what. He might have fallen asleep for a bit. He felt bored. He had nothing to do. Harvey had his phone in his hand, but Mike had forgotten to bring his. Or he hadn't had an opportunity to grab it before they left. He didn't know why they were still here. He felt fine. He had told that to the doctor that was here last. He didn't want to stay, it was so boring here, and he always felt a bit too cold at the hospital beds. He needed a distraction.
"What are you doing?" He asked Harvey.
"Reading." Harvey said without looking up.
"What?"
Harvey sighed then and looked at him. "It's none of your concern." He said and Mike thought that he could see something hard in Harvey's eyes.
"You know, I'm fine now. We can leave again." Mike said. Maybe that was the problem, Harvey was sick of being at the hospital.
"No, we can't leave. You still have that thing on your face."
"Yeah, but I don't really need it. I feel fine." Mike resisted the attempt at pulling the nasal cannula off him while Harvey looked at him like that.
"Clearly you are not. They are probably considering admitting you. Your blood pressure was too high, and your breathing is still off."
"No, it isn't." Mike couldn't help but say.
Harvey just shook his head and looked back down on his phone. Mike suddenly felt so angry.
"Screw you!" He exclaimed before he knew what he was saying. "I'm telling you I'm fine. I can leave!"
"The hell you can Mike! You are staying here! That little walk of yours yesterday screwed you over. You put yourself here!"
"No, it's not that! It's you who brought me here for nothing. I would have passed on its own, but you keep thinking I'm going to drop dead at every cough. It's your fault that we are here again."
Harvey let out a humorless laugh at that.
"My fault. You were the one that called for me because you couldn't breathe again. And guess what that came from, you deciding to go for a damn walk. This is what you get from making stupid decisions." Harvey mentioned towards his bed.
Again, with that walk, Mike started to get irritated.
"I wanted some fresh air. I wanted some normalcy. That's not a damn crime."
"You have fucking heart cancer. There is nothing normal about that. Just deal with it, Mike."
Harvey was getting angry as well. Mike clenched his teeth hard together.
"You know what, I think that you should just shut up. I don't need your opinion."
"You don't need my opinion, huh? No, all you need is for me to do absolutely everything for you, and you can't even do the one thing I ask of you, to stay inside on the couch. How hard is that? You are like a child!"
That last comment hit hard. Too hard. It was hard to not respond with anything but anger. He didn't want Harvey to say those things, because deep down he knew that they were true. He didn't want them to be though. He yelled.
"Screw you Harvey! I said I was sorry, and that you were right. What else do you want? Just shut up!"
Harvey didn't yell back. Instead he slowly pocketed his phone.
"You need to shut up Mike. I want you to know that what you did was seriously wrong. You lied to me and now I can't let you out of my sight for a minute without you making yourself worse. I thought I could trust you and go to a damn meeting, but here we are. You, keeping me from getting any work done, again."
Mike stared at him and felt how his eyes started to burn. No, he wasn't going to give in to that, absolutely not. It was just that he didn't want Harvey to say that. He knew that he was keeping Harvey away from work, but he had thought that the older man didn't mind that much. But clearly he did, more than he let on.
"I haven't asked you to stay home for me! I told you to go. Actually, I'm sick of having you hovering around me all the time." He said, ignoring how hot his face felt.
"Oh, really? You know what, that's it Mike! Damn it! I don't need this. Why don't you just stay here for a couple of days if I make such a bad company?"
"What do you mean? Are you throwing me out of your apartment now or what?"
"You know what! Yes, I am. You can stay here until you get civil again and stop yelling and talking bullshit."
Mike was staring at Harvey with something wild in his eyes. He felt like he was going to explode.
"Fine!" He yelled now. "Just get out then! Just leave me the hell alone then if you don't want to be here. I'm not forcing you to stay here!"
"Fine. I will." And at that Harvey grabbed his jacket and left the room without looking back.
