Tiffany must be dreaming. It was the only explanation for why Cesar Faison was on her video monitor. His menacing voice saying that he couldn't wait to meet the child. That 'Uncle Faison' would provide a better upbringing than her or Sean. After all, an orphan would need a loving home and a loving father. His words replayed in her mind, an orphan, an orphan, as Robert tries to get her attention. She vaguely registers him telling Anna that he knew in his heart that Caesar Faison would never be out of their lives. This time, he has chosen Tiffany and Sean as his target.
"My baby can't be an orphan, Robert." she whimpers as the threat finally registers in her brain. She knows Faison wasn't lying and that he would act upon it if they didn't agree to play his little game.
"Tiff-Luv," she feels his hands on her trembling ones. She looks into his eyes, clouded with fury and concern.
"This baby is not going to lose its parents. I promise. Let's get you out of here. Come on, Anna can get you some water and I know Keith called Sean. He'll be here soon." Robert helps her to her feet and out of her office. They stop at the anchor desk and she sits back down. Her mind is blank till she hears.
"Here, Tiff. Have some water. Everything is going to be ok." Anna hands her a paper cup of water. She stares at it for a second before she senses Robert leaving her side with Sean. She wants to shout at them to come back and tell her what the hell is going on but catches Anna looking at her with concern.
"How long has Sean suspected Faison was sending the gifts? Be honest Anna." she flatly asks after taking a sip of the water.
"Tiff," Anna says in that knowing voice of hers. "I know this is hard for you. But he didn't. He knew they weren't from Cheryl but I figured out it was Faison today. And I went to Robert because I didn't want to cause any stress to you or Sean till I was absolutely positive Faison was behind this. I thought Robert was going to break something when I told him, he was that angry. He wanted us to come over here and question you both. I wasn't expecting to walk into your office and see him on the screen and you as white as a ghost."
"But-" she stops herself before asking more questions as Robert and Sean return.
"Honey, are you ok, do you need me to call the doctor?" Sean asks, reaching her and pulling her up into a hug.
"I'm fine. The baby is fine. But we need to talk about that video Sean."
"I know, but not now. I promise to explain everything later. It would make me feel better if you went home and got some rest. Can you do that for me?" Sean asks. He gently strokes her baby bump before she catches his hand in hers. She brings it up to her lips and gives it a kiss, overcome by how he can set aside his anger and solely focus on her well-being.
"I can. I will do that for you and for the baby. But I expect all my questions to be answered when you get home." she brings her hand to his cheek and strokes it lovingly. She stares into his eyes silently, conveying that she trusts him, loves him, and can handle this together no matter what.
"Tiff, I'll stay with you while Sean and Robert finish up here. " Anna says, breaking them out of their trance. She bids Robert farewell even though she feels he will show up with Sean when he comes home.
Sean can sense that Robert is carefully watching him as they replay the tape in the privacy of the sound room. He clears his throat when it ends.
"So, how do we want to handle this one? Do you play his little game or do we try to track him down? And before you ask he's not in town. I've been getting updates. The last he was seen was in the Maldives three months ago." Robert says, Whatever he's going to say next, Sean knew Robert wasn't going to like it.
"I say I go and track down the little weasel myself. Put a bullet right between his eyes and finally end this game of old grudges. No one and I mean no one, threatens my wife or my child and gets away with it." he finally says.
"That's right Sean, you have not only Tiffany to think about now but also that baby she is carrying. And while I would say go for it in the past. You can't just up and leave her now. I hate to say it buddy but we're going to have to play the long con with this one. Gather as much information as we can. Get all of our ducks in a row. Then give our devious friend a visit and eliminate him before your baby arrives." He claps his hand on Sean's shoulder.
"I know you're right Robert. The baby is due in April. We have a little less than six months to figure this one out. And we can't leave Tiffany out. This directly affects both of us. The three of us. This…"
"This could change everything," Robert replies back.
Sean watches Tiffany pace the length of their living room, muttering under her breath, lacing her words with a few choice words about Faison before she stops in front of him.
"As much as I would like to agree to this plan to track down Faison, I can't promise not to think about the shooting. That's exactly what he's looking for, right? He'll try to catch you at your most vulnerable moment and harm you; He'll kill you... he'll kill us. If all goes well, we'll have five months to stop him. If it backfires, I don't want to think about what happens. I'd rather not put our baby in his arms.."
The last thing Sean wants is their baby to end up with Faison. He had told her about his suspicions surrounding the gifts. Thinking at first that they were from someone other than Faison. Someone local, or a fan of her films but the more gifts they received the more anxious he got that it just might be Faison. Anna had made the connection fully due to the lullabies, an old school WSB way of sending code and the tape made it official. Tiffany remained mostly silent when Anna was explaining their meanings and why she thought Faison wanted their child. It would be the ultimate revenge against Sean and his supposed betrayals. And the only thing they could do was use their resources to track him down and stop him before the baby was born.
"You have no idea how much I wish this wasn't happening." he says softly, placing a whisper of a kiss to her forehead. "But I promise you that in five months we will be sitting here holding our beautiful baby surrounded by all of our family and friends and Faison will be gone."
"I want to believe you," Tiffany begins before being pulled into a hug. It is always Sean's arms that she feels safest in, that their love can protect them from the harsh realities of the world, yet she knew-she just knew-that Sean's promise might not come true.
