Hey fellas. Ren's back on his bullshit lol. Don't worry, though - if you read Fate: Atlas, that's still my priority. I'm doing this for self-indulgent fun and to just enjoy writing BNHA again.

SO the gimmick I'm trying to reel you all in with is that this SYOC has characters submitted from the future that is basically a crapsack apocalypse not unlike "The Road". The time travel Quirk-possessing person taking care of most of those survivors knows that human extinction is coming no matter what, and he decides to do one final leap through time to give the kids not only a better chance at survival and living a proper life, but also to try prevent what may have led to such a bleak future.

You can find links to google docs at the end of my profile for everything important for this, but the short, VERY abridged version is that this is taking place at the same time as canon and I will be using every submission, but there's a catch for that and you guys can make the decision on how that catch applies to your OC. All I ask, like in one of my rules, is compromise when I ask you for it.

Also lmao yeah I see the irony in the title too. But hope you guys enjoy this very, uh... procedural opening chapter. Actual proper chapters will come next, but I liked the idea of showing snapshots of the premise and our resident dad Youdou.

I.

The following recording was filmed on 31/12/20XX on Channel 6 at 11:52PM. The program "New Year's with Japan's Finest" featured four Pro Hero guests: Chatora Yawara AKA Tiger, Kan Sekijiro AKA Vlad King, Sakamata Kugo AKA Gang Orca, Jijiwa Youdou AKA One Giant Leap. The annual program is the first televised appearance of One Giant Leap.

In a set with a live audience behind the cameras, four separate couches are lined up alongside a large window overseeing the New Year's celebrations below. A small desk is a short distance away from the couches, one seat tucked in behind it, and the four guests in the chairs chat among themselves as they wait for the host to return.

In the farthest seat sits Jijiwa Youdou, the topic of the moment now that the other Pro Heroes had had their time to shine, and all eyes are on the middle-aged man as finally, the host returns to the stage. Pro Hero Uwabami was selected to host this year's annual New Year's live show, and the ratings were at an all time high thanks to not only her presence, but the presence of Gang Orca—the at-the-time No. 16 Pro Hero in Japan.

Uwabami sits behind her desk and apologises with practised ease to the audience, who applaud her return happily. Her attention is quick to return to her guests, and the snakes on her head direct their gazes to One Giant Leap.

"Before we took a short break we promised an interview with our mysterious newcomer!" Uwabami announces. "Now, you may notice we have less than five minutes to actually do this interview before we start with the countdown for real. But I think that just adds to One Giant Leap's charm."

One Giant Leap, a man dressed in a clean cut suit like Gang Orca and with peculiar eyes—irises just a simple black outline with small symbols inside, and pupils the differing hands of a clock with the left being the minute hand and the right being the hour hand—chuckles and waves dismissively at Uwabami's comment.

"Please," are the first words he says on live television to Japan's eager audience, "just Leap is fine."

A few members of the audience audibly swoon.

"And I do hope I'm not disappointing anyone. I'm on a bit of a tight schedule," he goes on. "Right after this, I have to race home and watch the New Year's countdown with my family."

Uwabami leans forward in her seat, intrigued. "Oh? And how are you going to get there? Is this the much-awaited Quirk reveal? Many of my colleagues have been speculating about what your's may be, Leap."

An award-winning smile.

Vlad King, seated closest to One Giant Leap, also lets out a laugh. "I know I've placed a few bets. I can forgive a short appearance if we're getting this much out of you."

"I'm grateful!" One Giant Leap laughs heartily and the two men lean over their couches to shake hands. When Leap is back in his seat comfortably, he sniffs and gestures to Uwabami. "Uwabami-san, if you'll humour me, can you open the drawers in your desk and just look at what's inside? Don't tell me what you see."

Uwabami makes a show of being intrigued and does so, even going so far as to invite a nearby cameraman over to film what is inside each drawer. She shuts them tightly, shaking her head, and folds her arms over the desk.

"Now I know your Quirk isn't telepathy, Leap," she says. "What you've been rumoured to do goes way beyond telepathy."

"And you're correct. Ah, this is the tricky part. Can I get some people to watch me carefully right now? Not everyone. Oh—" Leap stands up and hurries over to Gang Orca, gesturing to the desk. "Gang Orca-san, if you'll humour me, can you keep a close eye on Uwabami-san and the desk? Vlad-san, Tiger-san, you two can watch me for this part. Pay close attention to me and the desk."

Leap sits back down on the couch, his right leg crossing over his left, and his hands are on his lap folded neatly. For a brief second the studio is silent, the audience holding their breaths as the Pro Heroes stay stock still onstage.

What looks to be a skip in video occurs. Leap's left leg is crossed over his right and his arms are crossed over his chest instead of over his lap.

Vlad King and Tiger jump from their chairs in stunned silence. Tiger's chair goes flying backstage.

Gang Orca looks away from the desk as Uwabami's snakes suddenly begin to hiss, perturbed by something that the audience has missed.

Leap uncrosses his arms and shrugs. He pulls a fountain pen from his vest pocket, and it twirls in his hand as he lazily drawls, "I only meant to borrow it."

Uwabami yanks open the drawer. The cameraman who inspected it with her is just as frantic. They're both looking for a trick flap the pen that had once been inside of it could've fallen into.

Keen-eyed viewers will notice the hour and minute hands in Leap's eyes have changed position.

Leap sets the pen down on the small coffee table between himself and Vlad King, and he stands up with a very pleased expression.

"And that was my demonstration of my Quirk. I hope you're all satisfied and, just maybe, a little more enchanted by it," Leap announces. Uwabami and Gang Orca are trying to stop him and get him to explain, and Tiger is warily looking at the middle-aged man as though he isn't sure what to do. The only one not entirely frazzled from the situation is Vlad King, who looks giddy. "Now, if you'll all excuse me, I'm going to enjoy the rest of my New Year's at home. See you all next year, folks."

Leap seems to clip out of the stage entirely as Gang Orca hurries to where he had been standing. This is the last televised appearance of One Great Leap until February 9th of the following year.

The segment welcomes the New Year with Vlad King guffawing on set, announcing to all of Japan that his sidekicks owe him an undisclosed amount of yen.

Following this broadcast, the Pro Hero known as One Giant Leap was not seen by the public until 09/02/20XX while intercepting a rogue villain in Hosu.

The following interview was conducted at Musutafu Police Department, Quirk Crimes Division, on 22/03/20XX at 7:01AM. The interviewing detective was Tsukauchi Naomasa of the Quirk Crimes Division, accompanied by Mera Yokumiru of the Heroic Public Safety Commission. The following is the custodial interrogation of One Giant Leap AKA Jijiwa Youdou.

The camera is focused on Jijiwa Youdou fully. Tsukauchi Naomasa and Mera Yokumiru are not visible in the footage, but their voices are clear in the recording. Jijiwa Youdou is no longer presenting himself as a Pro Hero, but looks dishevelled and weak. He is slumped in his chair and hardly fighting against the cuffs that keep him chained to the spot. In the corners of the room's ceiling, small holes are open and the anti-Quirk system similar to that of Tartarus is activated. Any detection of Quirk use about to occur will trigger sedatives to be fired at Jijiwa Youdou's person.

Paper is shuffled around out of view. Jijiwa Youdou doesn't move.

"It is now seven-oh-one," Naomasa announces. "The date is… twenty-second of March. Can you please state your name for us?"

Jijiwa Youdou twitches a little. A very gloomy voice replies, "Youdou. Jijiwa Youdou."

"Alright. Thank you, Jijiwa-san. Your occupation?"

A sniff. "Was… Am…? Pro Hero. One Giant Leap. Like what Neil Armstrong said."

Yokumiru's voice is deadpanned as he mumbles, "Yes, yes, same reasoning as your application. Thank you very much."

"Jijiwa-san, are you aware of where you are right now?" Naomasa asks. The sound of a pen scratching against paper can be heard.

"Where…? Ah…" Jijiwa Youdou lolls his head back, and his eyes stare up at the ceiling blankly. "Right… I picked the… moment when the strongest… That's when I am…"

"Jijiwa-san, have you been given any medical treatment yet?" Yokumiru is gruff. Naomasa audibly stands and walks to a door, speaking to someone else out of view. He sits back down in his chair after a minute passes.

Jijiwa Youdou shakes his head lazily.

Yokumiru sighs and mumbles, "Have to suspend the interview for now."

Naomasa doesn't motion to end the interview.

"Jijiwa-san," Naomasa tries. Jijiwa Youdou drags his head back down, trying to look Naomasa in the eye as he listens. "Where did you find the child?"

Jijiwa Youdou thinks for a moment. He scrunches up his face and lets out a pained groan.

"Which one?" he finally asks back. "I was… taking care of so many…"

Naomasa lets out an alarmed sound. "There's more children, Jijiwa-san!? Where? Wait— No— How many? Are they all in Japan?"

Mumbles from Jijiwa Youdou. Too quiet for Naomasa and Yokumiru to hear and understand, but the microphone is able to pick up bits and pieces.

"Population around then… Minus anything past Nagoya… Local average… So few? No… If it's only… children…"

"Jijiwa-san."

The middle-aged man blinks and scrunches up his face again. The door in the background opens, and a voice off screen whispers that a paramedic has arrived.

"Less than… hundred," Jijiwa Youdou finally whimpers. The dazed man begins to fall apart. He cries as easily as a child waking from a nightmare, and he spirals into a panic. "Should've done it sooner. Oh, God, why didn't I do it sooner? I almost let us die."

The interview is cut off without warning.

The interview resumed at 12:15PM after Jijiwa Youdou was given sufficient medical treatment and deemed fit to give a statement. Detective Tsukauchi Naomasa concluded the interview at 9:57PM. Jijiwa Youdou was kept in custody for further observation.

The following interview was conducted at Musutafu Police Department, Quirk Crimes Division, on 22/03/20XX at 7:58AM. The interviewing officer was Tamakawa Sansa. The following is the custodial interrogation of Takose Sumito.

A bowl of food is served up in front of a teenager in the camera's focus. The teenager, who is reluctant to touch the food, looks around the room anxiously. The meal served is steamed rice and bonito flakes.

Officer Tamakawa Sansa speaks from out of the camera's view.

"You must've worked up quite an appetite. Please, eat up."

The teenager is staring at Sansa when he speaks. There are currently no available records of who this teenager is or the capabilities of their Quirk, and even finding out basic things such as gender and age are out of the question.

The teenager shifts in their seat. From under their baggy clothes, two small tentacles, no longer than their forearm, wriggle anxiously at their waist.

"Where's the knife?" they ask.

Sansa hums. "The what?"

"The knife," the teen repeats, louder this time. "To—y'know."

They grab one of the tentacles and gesture slicing at it. Sansa is quiet for a few seconds.

"Do you like to eat your own tentacles?" he asks. The teen shakes their head quickly.

"No! No…" They shrink in on themselves as they speak. "I just— When someone is hungry, usually I need to— They'll grow back! Or do… Fingers, maybe?"

A pen on paper can be heard.

"If not for yourself," Sansa asks, "then why are you cutting them?"

The teen looks lost. "I…"

The silence is tense for the next few minutes. Sansa doesn't push the teenager. The teenager stares hopelessly at the bowl of rice.

Finally, seeming to muster up courage, the teen mumbles, "It's all we have to eat…"

Sansa lets out a small huff, not quite a sigh. He writes more, letting the teen sit quietly for a moment now that they've spoken up.

Once it's apparent the teen won't say more, Sansa asks, "What's your name? I'm Tamakawa Sansa. You can call me Sansa-san."

"Sansa-san," the teen tests. With a faint blush, they nod gratefully. "Nice to meet you, Sansa-san. I'm Takose Sumito."

Sansa is humming as he writes. "I see, I see. Nice to meet you Sumito… chan?"

Sumito is nonchalant. "If you want to."

"...kun?" Sansa tries again.

Sumito repeats, "If you want to."

Sansa clears his throat.

"Ah, forgive me, Sumito-san. What I'm getting at is… are you male or female?"

Sumito's expression changes from its usual timid form. They frown, displeased, and seem confused.

"I just said I'm Sumito, though."

"Ah… We'll come back to this question. It's okay, Sumito-san."

"You can call me either," Sumito reminds him.

Sansa hesitates. "Alright, Sumito-kun," he finally decides. "What did you usually have to eat, Sumito-kun? Where you come from?"

The teen purses their lips for a moment and sucks in a deep breath. The tentacles at their hip rub together almost like hands, the same kind of thoughtful habit people showed when trying to recall something.

"Jiji used to say I had to eat a lot of amino acids," Sumito recalls. "But nothing ever grew, no matter what we tried. Some of the really, really old food helped, but not a lot."

"What kind of old food?"

"Hm? There were a lot of spots on it—Sen told me it was mould, once. I just know it wasn't the worst tasting thing we'd eaten."

"You ate rotten food?"

Sumito shrugs once, sheepish. "All food is good food if it hasn't been eaten yet."

Officer Sansa is quiet for a moment. He isn't writing on the paper, almost silent enough to believe he's left the room. But he lets out a slow, tired sigh soon enough. One of his gloved hands can be seen in the very bottom of the video, pen loosely held in his hand and motivation draining from his posture.

"Sumito-kun, be honest with me. Did you feed parts of your body to anyone?"

Sumito, still sheepish, nods once.

"Why?"

They swallow audibly.

"Because the corpses we'd find were too diseased to survive eating," they mumble.

The interview was concluded by Officer Tamakawa Sansa at 1:00PM. Due to the nature of the incident involving Takose Sumito and Jijiwa Youdou's ongoing interview, Takose Sumito remained in custody for observation. Officer Tamakawa Sansa requested the presence of a Pro Hero by the name of Looker AKA Sekinoyama Sakuji to investigate any relatives through Takose Sumito's Quirk.

The following clip of audio was recorded at the Hero Public Safety Commission headquarters on 29/03/20XX at 1:59PM. Due to conflicting schedules, Madam President was unable to attend the briefing. The briefing was instead hosted by Mera Yokumiru in her stead.

The relevant parties involved in this briefing are MERA Yokumiru, TSUKAUCHI Naomasa, SEKINOYAMA Sakuji (Pro Hero alias Looker), SAKAMATA Kugo (Pro Hero alias Gang Orca), KAN Sekijiro (Pro Hero alias Vlad King), TOYOMITSU Taishiro (Pro Hero alias Fat Gum), AIZAWA SHOUTA (Pro Hero alias Eraser Head), NEZU (Pro Hero alias Mr. Principal), and ALL MIGHT (civilian name unknown).

MERA: Right. On to our next topic. [MERA motions to the screen behind him.] The steps we'll be taking regarding one Jijiwa Youdou, Pro Hero title One Giant Leap, and the B-rank incident caused by his apparent charge, one Takose Sumito.

[The screen behind MERA shows photos of Jijiwa Youdou and Takose Sumito. Both are in hospital clothing and appear healthy.]

MERA: Both have been given a thorough health check and had the exact nature of their Quirks documented for Hero Public Safety Commission access. We've also found that despite having worked as a fairly popular Pro Hero for the past year and a half, Jijiwa Youdou is not a registered citizen of Japan and neither is his ward. In fact, aside from the forged documents Jijiwa provided in his licence application, there is no evidence of either of them existing prior to this week.

KAN: Unbelievable…

AIZAWA: Not entirely. How many villains have had little to no government documentation to their names? The only anomaly is that a Pro was the one lacking them.

MERA: Yes, well. [MERA types on the tablet in front of him.] Jijiwa Youdou doesn't deny that he's been deceiving the public and his peers the entire time. In fact he's even welcomed our questions about the villains he's apprehended.

[The image of Jijiwa Youdou enlarges, while the image of Takose Sumito shrinks into the bottom corner. A list of villain names and ranks appear beside Jijiwa Youdou, all of them declaring the villains are incarcerated in Tartarus.]

MERA: Jijiwa Youdou has confirmed that he has in part orchestrated these villains appearing when and where they did before he apprehended them.

TOYOMITSU: Are you serious!? That crook!

SAKAMATA: To think he was nothing more than a charlatan.

ALL MIGHT: Mera-san, did he elaborate as to why and how he did this? I can't wrap my head around what motive or methods he may have used. As far as any of us know, his Quirk was… not suited for manhandling and the like.

MERA: Ah, right. I should go into that first. My apologies for getting ahead of myself.

[MERA does not sound apologetic.]

MERA: With regards to the Quirk of Jijiwa Youdou, I'll have you all open your files in front of you regarding him now. His Quirk and its details are on page nine, beginning from line fourteen.

[Paper rustling can be heard. Three minutes of silence follows.]

AIZAWA: [Slamming his hands on the table] There's no possible way that's not a lie!

MERA: Eraser Head, please mind our furniture. And we confirmed it as truthful.

TSUKAUCHI: Police cooperated with three Pro Heroes with regards to determining every facet of Jijiwa Youdou's story due to the… outlandish nature of it on the surface. Two very helpful interrogators in my department with Quirks suited to separating lies from truth also participated in these interviews. [TSUKAUCHI holds up paperwork from his file.] Page twenty-one has their professional and personal opinions regarding his testimony and the results of their Quirks.

SEKINOYAMA: I'd also like to go on the record with a professional opinion regarding Jijiwa-san and his ward. As most of you already are aware, my Quirk allows me to look into another person's own Quirk and follow its history, so to speak. How it was used, what its limitations were at a period in time, how often it was used. However, the public has not been made aware of one other facet of my Quirk. I am able to track the genealogy of a person's Quirk.

NEZU: So you can track from whom the Quirk was inherited from?

SEKINOYAMA: Yes. And which parts, if it is a wholly new Quirk from the parents' own, were inherited from the parent. However, it's better fitted as a glorified DNA test of sorts, if we're going by the literal use for it. And that's how I used it on Jijiwa-san and his ward.

[MERA types on his tablet again. The image of Jijiwa Youdou shrinks and the list of villains disappears. The image of Takose Sumito enlarges.]

SEKINOYAMA: I was doubtful of Jijiwa-san's claim that he was the caretaker of Sumito-chan. Officer Sansa from Detective Tsukauchi's department felt the same based on what Sumito-chan told him during the interview. When I held Sumito-chan's hand and looked into the Quirk's history, it was… It should not have been as long as it was. Not for how long Quirks have been around as of today's date. Whatever familial connection I could make from Sumito-chan was so weak and diluted that even I was doubting my own Quirk at the time.

MERA: This leads us to Jijiwa Youdou's Quirk. And the validity of his testimony.

KAN: But time travel to such a large degree is absurd!

AIZAWA: It might explain how his actions in the past were possible if it were small-scale. But Vlad King is right, the length is absurd.

MERA: Absurd or not, the specifics of Jijiwa Youdou's Quirk are very much real.

[The room is silent for two minutes.]

ALL MIGHT: I believe One Giant Leap.

KAN: What!?

SAKAMATA: All Might, you can't possibly—

NEZU: I also believe him.

[The room is silent for thirty seconds.]

NEZU: We're all aware that the theory of the Quirk Singularity is becoming more and more possible by the year. If One Giant Leap truly can travel through time, and if he truly came from a… Forgive me, he stated it was "a year so far into the future that [his] grandparents had even lost count". Well. That's quite the Singularity on our hands. More to the point, not once was he caught as having told a lie about his Quirk's capabilities. Part of the professional assessment even mentioned testing the Quirk of the interrogator to make sure it was functioning properly, and saying his name was no Jijiwa Youdou triggered a lie result. One Giant Leap has been honest and open with us.

ALL MIGHT: One Giant Leap… He was also far more concerned about his ward. And when he mentioned other wards, the Pro Hero monitoring his emotional state reported he was "blue"—a colour they've assigned to the emotion melancholy with their Quirk. He was never observed to be hostile or avoidant. I don't believe this is a man who means the public harm. But he has certainly acted rashly once you take everything into account.

MERA: Yes, yes, all very sentimental alongside the facts. You may all read about Jijiwa Youdou and Takose Sumito as we talk and raise questions as you see fit, but I'd like to close this meeting quickly. So we're going to address the main point of this meeting.

[MERA taps on his tablet. The screen shows the estimate of 70~100 above Jijiwa Youdou and Takose Sumito. Above that the ranks A~C are displayed.]

MERA: According to Jijiwa Youdou, we have somewhere between seventy to a hundred extremely dangerous and confused people, most children, roaming Japan at this very moment. This coincides with the rise in massive villain attacks over the week that have left many scared and demanding action. If they are like Takose Sumito and release their Quirk as a habit of their previous lifestyle and panic, everyone's hands will be too full to handle all of them. In fact, one that Jijiwa Youdou himself has confirmed to be named Chikara Sen has even been filmed fighting another villain that was arrested yesterday.

[A video appears on the screen. In the shaky footage filmed on a mobile phone, the A-rank villain Muscular can be seen tossing people and several Pro Heroes around as he laughs. At his feet, the Pro Hero duo Water Hose's corpses are mangled and crushed. A hushed voice near the phone can be heard whispering, "Someone get that chick! She's fucking insane!" before a short figure enters the frame. The footage goes on to show Muscular throwing one of the corpses at the teenager, and she's thrown back a small distance before she sets the corpse aside. The footage lags for half a second, and then the teenager is tackling Muscular violently enough to send the two of them flying. Many people scream before the footage cuts off.]

[A second video appears over the top of the first. It is also a recording from a mobile phone, this time from within a school classroom within range of Muscular's rampage. A Pro Hero can be seen hushing the students as she waits for her chance to intervene. Muscular is being dragged out of a building that's just been destroyed, the teenager tossing him easily with one hand. His Quirk is active, and he lunges at her with a shout, but when his blow lands on the girl, the force of it appears to absorb into her small frame. The girl says something the camera cannot pick up fully. She kicks at him, and Muscular coughs up blood as he flies towards more rubble. The girl practically speeds after him without hesitation. The Pro Hero comes into frame and urges the filmer to hurry to the evacuation site. The footage ends.]

MERA: With the knowledge of how many of these unstable Quirk users are stranded in Japan in mind alongside the footage I've just shown you, I'd like you all to discuss what our best next step should be in finding, detaining, and monitoring these individuals until we can determine if they're a threat to the public.

The audio clip ends on Mera Yokumiru's request. The meeting is documented to have concluded at 10:12PM. The Public Hero Safety Commission and police force agree with and begin Operation Zero proposed by Mr. Principal AKA Nezu.
