Waiting on Luna
(^^)
Both Harry and Luna had managed to slip away to the secret space that Luna had showed Harry shortly after they had run into each other back in Harry's second year (Luna's first). The solarium was tucked away on the opposite side of the castle from the greenhouses and Hagrid's hut. Therefore, even though it was not actually hidden, not many people knew it even existed. Even less people knew how to access the corridor that held the door to it. All of that meant that when the pair had decided to keep their friendship a secret from the school at large, they had a place to meet for just the two of them.
That evening they had met up for just a bit of quiet in the same space. Ravenclaw might not have been as boisterous as Gryffindor on average, but sometimes the way that Luna was excluded from every group was just too much to bear. For Harry, escaping Gryffindor had become a priority, even if it was just for a few hours at a time.
"Hermione just doesn't seem to understand," Harry murmured, trying not to move overly much. He was reclining back on an old fainting couch that had been in the solarium along with a variety of empty plant pots and dry fountain with decorative fish that would be spouting water if the fountain wasn't, you know, dry. He was wearing nothing but a royal purple jumper and a pair of knee socks that were striped in Ravenclaw cobalt and bronze, both borrowed from Luna who was seated on the rim of the fountain as she carefully sketched him with her pastels. The only other thing he had on was the bandages around his right hand which covered the words that Umbridge had him writing during detention. The crisp white of it shown against his dark tan skin.
"She thinks I'm somehow more knowledgeable about the Dark Arts, enough to tutor the study group she wants to put together, but it feels like it's only because I'm the Boy-Who-Lived. I thought she was better than that. I couldn't even fight off the acromantulas—acromantulae? Whichever it is—when Ron and I went into the Forest like Hagrid had suggested. I had to rely on a feral Ford Anglia to save me from a bunch of spiders!"
"Spiders are actually sort of cute," Luna said in a distant-sounding tone. Harry sighed and forced himself to relax. Luna was too distracted by her drawing to fully process what he had been saying. He would just have to wait until later to get any kind of advice from her. He was willing to wait. Luna was worth it.
