FanFiction had another one if it's "bright ideas"… they turned off email notifications for everybody, now you have to manually turn it on every six months. If you've seen this chapter, please comment "Sage" in the comments.

Chapter ?: A New Frontier

Sonic was shown laying face-down on the ground, in the rain, and in front of the same throne-like device that previously absorbed Knuckles and Eggman. He was very still, but then his closed eyes begin to slowly flutter, and they slowly opened… ugh, he felt so achy. He couldn't remember the last time he felt this way.

"… T-Tails…?" Sonic called out in a weak voice, still trying to recover his strength from… whatever the heck that was. It was so bizarre. How the heck did he go from Green Hill, to the sky via plane, then BACK to Green Hill, only to end up… wherever he was right now. "Issei?…" Sonic tried again, now looking around but still saw none from his group. "Rias?… Amy?… uugghhhh…" He tried once more, only for the aches to return. Looks like he was all alone…

"… Uh! Wait!" Sonic remember something important. He held a hand to his ear… Eureka! A magic circle! Looks like the communication trick they would try during Rating Games still worked. "Hello?… Come on, someone pick up!"

…

"… Sonic?"

"Issei!" Sonic said, happy to hear a familiar voice. "Real quick, is anyone else with you and Rias?" He asked as he last thing he recalled before being sucked into a wormhole, he saw Rias and Issei fighting against the current.

"No, and no ones with me either." Rias jumped in, hearing the conversation between both boys. The camera then clips to where she is at, also in front of a similar structure to Sonic. "Where the hell are you guys at anyway? I woke up in Kuoh Academy somehow, now I'm front of a large waterfall and I'm soaked!" She added, also zooming out showing she was in fact all wet all over her body giving a very fanservicey vibe due to a giant waterfall behind her. Seeing as how close the waterfall was, this was probably why.

Chipping over to Issei was, also by a weird throne-structure, but towers a cliffside. "Wet?" His eyes widened a bit, then he had a thought cloud of how the water was probably sticking to every curve on Rias' body.

"Cool it Issei…" Sonic dryly said, feeling a disturbance in the force.

"What!" Issei denied.

"Well, we're all out here… looks like we are the only ones who made it out of that…whatever that was…" Sonic said, getting back to their current situation.

[Mortals…] Said a female voice suddenly, making each Devil and the Blue Blur jump, all making a 'gah' sound. The end if its sentence echoing.

"Ugh, Ddraig, we talked about this…" said Sonic.

[That wasn't me.] Ddraig said.

[How interesting…] The female voice said again, making all 3 friends look to the sky as that appeared to be where the voice was coming from. [You've all done the impossible, escaping Cyber Space via your own individual powers…]

"Uuuh… hi?" Issei said.

[Don't fret… I mean no harm… I'm just as surprised as all of you, escaping Cyber Space should be impossible, yet there you are…] said the Voice.

"Cyber Space?" Rias asked… so that's what that freaky world was that they were in a few minutes ago? Of course normally she would have questioned the voice out of nowhere, but after all the crazy stuff she has experienced while in Sonic's world, she saw no point. This was quiet common. "So your saying going through that big red hole somehow took me home, then back here, is Cyber Space?" She asked, as it took the power of all 7 Emeralds just to arrive in Mobius, so how they were going back-and-forth so easily didn't make much sense.

Also… there was a glitchy small human-shaped figure behind the structure Rias found herself by…

[Correct, though also incorrect.] Said the Sky Voice. [Cyber Space is a realm between dimensions. A realm of loss and confusion. It is designed to be inescapable… but you 3 managed to escape… you… are the Keys… Keys to unlock the Door…]

"Keys, huh?… Beats being called a Rodent, Breast Emperor or a Ruined Princess." Sonic said. "So, 'unlocking the Door' you said… is that a way to rescue our friends?"

"As much as I'd love to get the others out Sonic, we have no idea where the hell we are!" Rias said. "Now we are stranded… probably close together thankfully as this magic wouldn't work otherwise," Rias continued, also bringing up how the communication match works. "Now we have a voice in our heads telling us about doors and keys."

[You don't trust me?] The Sky asked. [Understandable… a sense of caution… the sign of an intelligent life form…] The Sky said in understanding. [I can confirm you are where you were trying to land… you are on the Starfall Islands… Koronos Island to be exact…]

"So, this is the Starfall Islands?" Issei asked, then looked around him. "… could use a fixer-upper…" He added, though unbeknownst to him, an outline of what appeared to be a small child was behind the structure peeking out at Issei before it vanished.

[I assure you, you can trust me. In fact as a sign of good will, be empowered with this technique…] Said the Voice. Before any of them could ask what that was supposed to mean, they all felt some sort of pull on their bodies. Sonic at that point, glowed an a blue aura, but with a different hue than his Boost. The same applied to Rias and Issei, but theirs were red in color. They looked at their bodies in confusion, not getting what or even HOW that just happened… they definitely felt slightly stronger though.

[This new power, will help you solve the mysteries across the Starfall Islands. All I ask in return, is put your trust in me. Together, we will save all the poor souls trapped in Cyber Space… including your friends…] The Voice continued.

"Okay sooooo, if Cyber Space is apparently escape-proof, how are we supposed get our friends out?" Sonic asked, willing to cooperate for now as they had nothing else to go on.

[In order to unlock the Door, and save your friends, follow these three simple steps:] the voice answered. [Find the Chaos Emeralds… destroy the Titans… tear down the walls between dimensions…]

All 3 friends thought about this. "Find the Emeralds? Pfft. We're experts at this point." Issei said.

"Titans? You mean the ones from Olympus? Why would they be here?" Asked Rias.

[Tear down the dimension?] Ddraig piped in. [I mean, my power wraps dimensions, but I'm not too sure if that's a good idea. Dimensions are separate for a reason.]

While listening to his friend and this new 'ally', Sonic's arms were folded and one hand was tapping against his arm. "… yeah, okay, uuuuuh… Great Lady in the Sky, how about a little context here?" Sonic said. "Like, why were we pulled into Cyber Space? Maybe give us a map or something?" He asked.

This time however, there was no response.

"Hello!" Sonic called out to the Voice.

"Hey! We're talking to you!" Issei called out next.

Still no response, which made the trio deadpan. Above Sonic, that same human child 'glitch' phased into existence, appearing to spy on Sonic before it disappeared again.

"Great. Trapped on a remote island. Again. And with no direction to go in." Rias said.

"Aw well, some direction's better than none." Sonic said. "Keep in touch. We'll met up at some point. Here we go!"

As you can probably tell, this is nothing more than a teaser/concept and is not canon… yet. I've played the entirety of Frontiers twice and enjoyed it with only a few minor nitpicks. Cyber Space could have been better, the first 3 Titans should be replayable, and the final boss against The End should have been more engaging instead of just the hacking minigame.

But what this chapter shows is, that Sonic Frontiers content is definitely doable… just, not now.

The earliest I can get Frontiers in here is after or during season two. Without spoiling too much, Sonic and company what eventually get the chaos emerald from Riser (which we are at that point in the story now anyway) and find the other 6 soon after. Meaning if I just jumped the gun and put Frontiers storyline in here right now, it would seem like I'm rushing.

I've written this entire project with quality over quantity in mind, and its turned out to be a huge success. You deserve it for being such a loyal fanbase, all I'm asking is to just wait a little bit longer. We can forge a new frontier very soon, to new horizons. This also includes the Smash Bros mini arc, which I've seen all of your comments and all of them are pretty fire, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

Also as a bit of a bonus: Can you decipher where on the island Issei and Rias ended up? I'll make you a chili dog if you get it right!

Do send me your thoughts and even a few suggestions on the Frontiers arc. I'm going for a more Mephilis manipulation route with The End, seeing as it gave all 3 of our friends the Cycloop Ability from the get go, and even praised Rias for her initial skepticism.
