Movie Night
(^^)

Luna shook the frying pan carefully over the flames. Inside the bulge of the expanding aluminum cover, the popcorn kernels are merrily popping away. This is the third batch that she's made in the last ten minutes. Thankfully, it should be the last one that would be necessary until the break after the first movie. She shut off the heat as the popping noises began to slow down, going an increasing amount of time between each explosion.

She pulled out her wand and silently cast a spell that had another large bowl floating down from the top of their fridge. This bowl was royal purple. She placed it beside the indigo bowl and the chocolate brown one. Both of those bowls were filled with mounds of popcorn and covered with a light preservation spell to keep the snacky treat fresh and warm. The spell was the best modification that she had ever decided to do to their dishes. All of their friends had asked for similar modifications to some of their more commonly used containers.

Just then the twins ran in the backdoor, already arguing at the top of their lungs about which of the movies selected for the night they were going to watch first. Luna smiled indulgently at their antics, mostly because this behavior was both not unusual for their family's designated movie nights and never seen outside of them. She could afford to let them get away with such misbehavior.

"Did you see our hoodlums come through?" Rolf asked as he carried two reusable shopping bags of groceries in through the door that the twins had left open in their rush to get to the living room. He placed them on the kitchen island. Even after all these years together, just the sight of him made her heart throb. "They seemed in a hurry to wrestle around like crups. I sent them ahead to set up the mattress and erect the pillow nest."

"Oh," Luna said as she used her wand to direct the newest batch to empty itself into the purple bowl. "I didn't realize that you would want them to do that, love. I did that before starting on the popcorn."

"Well, then," Rolf said agreeably, "I guess I should see what they're doing instead that has them being so suddenly and suspiciously quiet." He dropped a quick peck on her cheek before hurrying off to do just that. About thirty seconds later, she heard a loud crash followed by Rolf calling out, "we're all okay!"

Luna shook her head in dismay and finished the popcorn.
