[Jasper's POV}

"The girls say you should stop for a hunt. Just you." Sam glanced at me with a knowing look.

"What did they talk her into?" I sighed.

"Not a clue, but I don't trust it. Make sure you hunt on the way home. I know you hunted on the way here but." He ended with a shrug.

Sighing I lean against the wall. What could they be planning? Why would I need to hunt? I wanted to let Bella know she was safe from this threat at least.

"They aren't answering my messages anymore."

"Of course they're not." I watched the warehouse the others were in. My mind was racing with so many thoughts I felt overwhelmed. Worry for Bella. The conversation with Sam I was hoping to never bring up again. Slight fear for what the girls may have talked Bella into.

My phone buzzed. Pulling it from my pocket I saw a message from Peter.

Breathe brother. We're on our way.

I felt a weight leave my shoulders. Peter was coming. Of course that could be because he just knew someone wanted to help me with my emotions, so of course he wanted to jump on that. It could also mean things were about to go to hell in a handbasket. Was Bella in more danger? Was the family?

"Jasper?" Sam's voice was soft but easily cut though my thoughts. I glanced his way. "You aren't breathing. I know you don't need to, but I've never seen one of you stop so suddenly. Seemed bad. You alright?"

"Yeah." I took a deep breath to ease his mind. "My coven is on the way here. Their human drinkers. Feed on rapists and the like."

He nodded.

"I'll let the others know. I don't see a problem with that, but I do ask they stay off our land and hunt in the larger cities while here."

"Of course thank you." The others finally walked over.

"Now I feel it would be a good idea to give you all a heads up. I want to speak to Carlisle when we get back." Sam looked at his pack as he spoke.

"Why?" Paul asked.

"It's personal. Now let go Jasper needs to stop and hunt on the way, so we'll be splitting up."

"He's going to hunt?" I could hear the smile in Alice's voice, and turned to glare at her.

"Yes, why?"

"No reason," she laughed, "have fun." With that she raced off, no longer staying with the group.

"I don't know what that was about, but it doesn't sound good. I think I'm going to join you on that hunt bro." I nodded before running off for the woods Em on my heels.

We hunted quickly. When Em finished I turned toward the house, but he grabbed my arm. I glanced back, sending him a questioning look.

"Are you okay?" He let go of my arm and sat next to a tree. Sighing, I sat next to him.

"What do you mean?"

His emotions lapped at my ankles but nowhere near as harshly as normal. It was as if he was holding the waves back from me. Something he had never done before, but I could clearly feel his worry.

"Well, this can't have been easy on you. If you need to talk I'm here okay."

"I'm fine Em." He wasn't convinced. Why did everyone want to talk about how I was feeling? Maybe I could flip this around. After all this was his first big fight. Perhaps that's why he was worried. He knows how he feels about it and needs reassurance that everything is alright.

"How are you?"

"No way man," he shook his head, "you always do this. You can't keep helping everyone with their own emotions, and then pushing us away when we try to help you. However I know conversations like this can be overwhelming, so for now I'll drop it, but if you need to talk my door is always open. We can talk about Alice, or your feelings for Bella. This Killer X fucker, or Edward. The shitty way dad handled finding out, or how you still feel like an outsider in the family. Whatever you need Jazz."

He locked eyes with me as he spoke, and I saw his shand twitch. He wanted to reach out and hug me. I could feel his need to reassure me the way he did the whole family. However other than the twitch he made no move to truly touch me. His knowledge that I wouldn't want him to held him at bay. Taking a deep breath I smiled at him.

"Thanks Em. I just don't feel comfortable talking about it all right now. I just want to fix everything. Maybe after everyone is safe I'll take you up on your offer."

"Alright, but you know Sam is going to yell at dad right?"

"What?" I thought about how Sam looked before we split up. He was angry, however he hadn't truly calmed down since his outburst before.

"Yeah. Honestly dad has it coming. He's gone out of his way to make things easier for Edward and Alice because of their gifts, yet it seems like unless he needs your gift he forgets about it. Rose and I have been talking about it. She thinks he needs a reminder that your his son, and not a fighter for hire." He shrugged as if he didn't care, yet he was feeling nervous looking anyway but at me.

"You overheard our talk." He nodded. "You texted Rose."

"Yeah. She told me to keep you away. You don't need to be in the house when emotions are going to be so high."

I stood turning again to leave. There was no need for Sam or Rose to fight with Carlisle on my behalf. I'm a grown ass vampire, and a coven leader to boot. I don't need anyone to fight my battles.

"Don't try Jazz. I'll hold you down, and even if you're stronger than me you won't risk hurting me. Besides, Rose only asked I keep you away for about an hour. We have five more minutes."

I growled at him but there was no real heat to it, and he knew it. While I wasn't happy with what was happening it was nice to know they cared. Sighing, I sat back down. No point in fighting. Might as well stay, and there was something I thought Em could help me with.

"Do you know why a group of girls might be looking for trashy romance books while talking about feelings?" I asked hoping for a hint of what the girls might have talked Bella into.

"My best guess would be advice on how to seduce a guy, but man I don't know anything about women of any species." Laying down he crossed his arms under his head.

"Seduce a guy?" I short circuited. They won't try to convince Bella to jump in bed with me right? She could barely talk about her feelings surely they wouldn't have her jump off the deep end like that. Groaning, I flopped down next to Em.

"You good bro?"

"No. Sam and I think the imprints are going to talk Bella into acting on her feelings for me."

"Okay?"

"Alice said they were looking in her room for a book to help." He bolted up eye's wide.

"You're kidding!"

"Nope. That must be why Alice was laughing when she left."

"No way. Shy Bella try to be seductive?"

"You make it sound like you don't think she could be." I growled.

"That's not it," his hands rose, "I just can't see her agreeing is all."

"I hope this takes long enough she talks herself out of it. I would much rather talk things over with her before anything like that happens."

"You would sleep with her?"

"I mean I'm almost positive she is my mate, and even if she's not she's a very attractive woman, so yes."

"But she's so breakable!"

"Em I could hurt any woman if I'm not careful, so what if I have to be a little more careful with her? If she truly wants to, I would love to let her wildest dreams come true."

"Wow. Could you though? Her emotions wouldn't overwhelm you?"

"If they do, I'll just let her take over. Hands off you know." I smirked at him. I could feel the change when he switched to thinking of Rose.

"Yeah. Letting them take control is way better."

"Might be fun to take orders from her." Well this conversation has gone off the rails, but at least I get out of talking about my emotions.

"Oh it is, it really is." Were I human his emotions would have made me blush. "Okay that's it. I want my mate lets go Jazz." He jumped up waiting for me before racing off toward the house. Drawing closer to our home I slowed feeling the climate around.

The foundation was shaking. Hellfire raining down. I slowed to a halt hearing only two heartbeats. One racing the other steady. Emmett stopped just in front of me. Moving to block my path.

"We should turn back. They aren't done fighting yet." His concern almost drowned out the rage flooding the house.

I thought about taking him up on his offer, however before I could turn I felt the faintest hint of mind numbing terror. Muted as if trapped in a cage.

"I don't care. Bella is terrified." Nodding we moved as one to the window closest to where we could hear her racing heart. Slowly so I didn't send her into shock I replaced the fear with calm. We listened to her heart slow to a normal pace. Heard her stand and move toward the window. When she looked out we waved for her to join us.

"Glad to see you're alive." She smiled as she reached us. Though the false calm I wove around her I could feel her relief at seeing us safe.

"I thought they would be done by now. What happened?"

"I thought so too, but then some new vampire's showed up and added more fuel to the fire. Esme got worried about you and ran off to try to find you." She wrapped her arms around my chest, likely drinking in the calm I was still sending out.

"We'll have to call her, and let her know we're home. They didn't drag you into this did they?" Em asked, hand moving to her shoulder careful not to touch me.

Guilt almost overwhelmed my calm. I forced it down before it could grab us. I felt her arms tighten around me. Pulling her a little closer I glared at the house. Reaching out I tried to find out who all was there.

Sam's bonfire was higher than before, the fires blue. Next to him. Rose's, emotions no longer muted for me, burning ice hardened to a shape edge. Carlisle was close to them. His core was shaking. I searched for Alice's light emotions, but couldn't find them.

But I did find Peter and Char. Peter's strong stone walls kept the flood of rage at bay while also offering peace, love, and joy the moment I brushed against the rough surface. He knew better than anyone what it felt like when I reached out, and on instinct reacted to me. Always letting me know when help was welcomed or not. His walls didn't part for me nor did they push me away. Beside him was Char. A large forest always ready to offer shade. A welcoming place that seemed to drown out others' emotions. Each emotion is a different animal call that took months to master. They were my safe haven.

Moving back to Peter's walls I tapped Bella's fear against it followed by my own curiosity. He may not know her but he knew me and that would be enough for my message to be received. He paused confusion entering his walls.

"Human," we all heard him yell. "where are you?" The house took a breath.

"Shit Bella!" Then a scatter of footsteps as they raced to find her.

"Was that the blonde vampire?"

"Yeah his name is Peter, and the lady with him is Charlotte, his mate."

"Yes, but call me Char dear. I found her and the Major!" She called over her shoulder as she stopped in front of us.

"Is she alright?" Peter stopped just behind his mate.

"Seems to be. Are you alright dear?" The smile was kind and reassuring to me, however it put Bella on edge. She moved behind me before nodding.

"You're scaring her, Sweetheart."

"I can see that, Dear. Must be the eye's."

Glancing at Bella I saw she wasn't looking at my coven at all, instead just behind them at Rose. With my false emotions drowning her she didn't have the fire needed to face my twin. I pulled back on the calm slowly easing it away and letting everything but her fear come back.

"Sorry, my fault, I had her drugged out on a false calm. Give her a second to get back to herself." My coven nodded easily, understanding how strong my power could be.

"I see. Well I don't think she had a chance to eat yet, so I'll go warm up her food. Peter, come on."

"Not happening. I ain't leaving the Major with that asshole." He pointed toward Carlisle who growled.

"I would never hurt my son!"

"Funny way of shownin' it." Peter growled back.

Bella grabbed my shirt reaching for Em too. Carlisle turned to Peter, his core still shaking. While everyone had calmed down to find Bella it seemed that now they knew she was safe they were ready to fight again. Bella pulled us both back, and we let her drag us toward the woods. She was conflicted knowing she couldn't protect us but wanted to find a way to get us to safety.

Twisting quickly I grabbed Bella and ran inside Em hot on my heels. He locked the door after we got in. They could keep fighting out there.

"Are they at it again?" Char asked placing a plate on the table.

"Yeah. Want to tell me what all this is about?" I sat Bella in the chair Char pulled out for her.

"Sorry you had to be stuck here for that Bells. I thought Rose wouldv'e sent you home." Em sat next to her.

"It's fine. I'm sorry you all had to go fight. I didn't mean to put you in that position Jasper." Her voice was thick.

"What do you mean, Bell?" They wouldn't have thrown my past in Carlisle's face when Bella could overhear, right?

"You told me you had a different upbringing then your sibling, but I thought you didn't remember that much from before your change. I should have thought about how your time in the war could have affected you. Sorry." Ah they didn't didn't say which war, yet it was still bothering my sweet girl. I guess it was time to tell her everything.

"Bell it's time I told you about my start in this world."
