Chapter One.
Mowgli, Baloo, and Bagheera were woken from their hour long slumber by the sound of humming. The voice doing the humming was female. The wolves, Bear, and panther sniffed the air and exclaimed, "Man!". They ran to the caves. Mowgli, on the other hand stayed where he was on the tree he'd previously been sleeping in. Three minutes later, two pick axes appeared over the edge of the cliff behind Council Rock.
A dark-chocolate skinned women hauled herself up over said cliff. She stood on top of the leader's position on the rock, then gasped as she noticed the man-cub and gasped. What was such a young child doing in the jungle? Putting all questions on hold for now, she jumped down and motioned with her hands for the boy to come to her(not speaking so as not to scare him). Slowly, but steadily, Mowgli climbed down from the tree and made his way to the woman. As he got closer, she noticed old wolf bite and claw marks on him, and she smelt the scent of wolves on him. 'He must be a Feral child, raised by wolves,' she silently and correctly deduced. Mowgli stopped in front of her and looked at her hands. After thirty seconds of hesitation, the boy cautiously grabbed them an gently squeezed. Next, he stroked her arms, then did the same with her face. Then he pulled on the woman's purple sari and with pink elephants threaded into it. But when he tried to pull the gold thread which held her hair in a bun, she blocked his hands with her own hands.
"Now Now, I don't want my clean hair to get dirty. Speaking of which, you could definitely use a hair wash and a bath."
She reached for his hair and he recoiled quickly, which didn't surprise her at all. 'He's been raised to fear humans, no doubt,' she thought.
Pointing to herself, she said " Me, Mahlia Prabbudha."
The woman pointed at Mowgli, hoping he'd get the message and he did.
"Me," the man-cub said pointing at himself, "Mowgli." Mahlia smiled happily and started to walk away from the rock and towards the path that led into the Jungle.
"Well , are you coming?"
Mahlia looked back at the jungle-boy with raised eyebrows. Mowgli wasn't sure of what he should do. Yes this woman was a mystery he had to solve, but he didn't want to leave his animal friends/family. He looked toward the caves and saw Grey, Raksha, Baloo, and Bagheera sticking their heads out.
"The choice is your's Mowgli, no one can decide for you," Bagheera stated.
"No one would dare to after you beat Shere Khan and put out that fire using the elephants," the bear interjected.
"You must find and follow your own path my son. I was wrong to try and stop you from leaving before," Raksha said, her voice sad yet understanding.
Mowgli stared at them for a few seconds, then back at the woman who was still beaming at him. Soon, he smiled at her on return, then ran up to her and grabbed her hand. As they walked away, Mowgli waved goodbye to the pack, panther, and bear. After the two were a good distance away from Council Rock, the animals left their hiding spots, and watched Mowgli and Mahlia walk off into the Jungle.
"Do you think we'll see him again mother?"
"I know we will Grey."
"Bagheera, I really hope he can make it man's world."
"He'll weather through it, Baloo. Like you said, he killed that Tiger and put out that fire."
