Prologue: A Confession
"You may think I see very little, but I really do see a lot. With just a tiny wink I see much more than anyone. I see buildings and what goes on within. I see a person as well as his heart. I see the present as well as the past and future. I see our world as well as the next. I can see the truth from amongst the lies, the pale cracking masonry that lies under a magnificent facade. And when I close my eyes, I can still see, at least I'll only see what others see.
"But I can't fully open my eyes, for my gaze will cut deep into matter or someone's soul.
"I can see that Chiharu longs to be able to see me eye to eye, but as much as I long to oblige, I can only let out that my eyes are more horrifying than a Medusa's. She thinks that I do not trust her enough, and I'm afraid that she'll hate me. So I lie and joke, drawing on my massive otherworldly experiences, hoping to keep her attention on me while leading her away from the painful truth. No one must see the truth hiding behind my eyelids for I see disaster in the futures of those who've managed to catch a glimpse of my pupils.
"I can't see how long I can keep this from Chiharu.
"I can't see what the gods have in mind for me.
"And I can't see if this is a gift, or a curse."

Author's Note
Well this was a weird idea that came to me as I was pondering about how Sakura's power was affecting the people around her, which you would see take place as my other story Enchanted Runes (3011899) unfolds in future. I decided to make it a complete standalone to better focus on the little developed relationship between these 2 supporting casts. Progress on WHB will be slow as I'm concentrating on ER. But if I get another brilliant idea I'll be back. Please R&R!.
