Chapter 5: Ingrid Catches a Pokemon
From what Ash told her, Ingrid had to create a profile for the pokedex and also take a picture of her face and use it as a profile pic. So far, much to Ingrid's knowledge, the pokedex functioned similarly to an ipad albeit without apps such as YouTube and Netflix.
So they were all just walking through Lumiose City as the group was heading over to the Pokemon Center so that Ash could register for the Kalos League. At the head of the group was Bonnie who was happily playing around with Ash's pikachu and Ingrid's bulbasaur. "Come on! Hurry it up, you three! Ash, you can register for the Kalos League over this way!" Bonnie excitedly said as Ingrid could not help but chuckle. Suddenly a memory from her time back on Earth hit her like a meteor.

Flashback*
Ingrid was just babysitting her five year old cousin as her parents were away on a business trip. The parents gave her money that she could use to take their daughter to her favorite pizzeria, Chuck E. Cheese. "Hey come on Ingrid! Chuck E. Cheese is over this way!" Her cousin shouted, running through the shopping plaza and to Chuck E. Cheese. "Yeah! I know Jamie! Just please stay with me" Ingrid said as she tried to keep up with her younger cousin.

Man those were good times.
"Ingrid… Ingrid… hey Ingrid!" Ash's voice snapped Ingrid out of her thoughts. Ingrid then turned her attention to face Ash. "Oh sorry Ash, I was just reminiscing about something" Ingrid said with a hint of melancholy to her voice. "Okay" Ash just bluntly replied furrowing his brow as the group continued to make their way to the Pokemon Center.
Eventually, the group arrived at the Pokemon Center as soon as they went through the building's sliding glass doors. They were greeted by Nurse Joy's happy unwavering facial expression as she was standing behind a desk. "Good morning" Nurse Joy greeted as she bowed to Ash and the others. "Good morning to you, Nurse Joy" Ash returned the greeting. "At this Pokemon Center helping pokemon in need is our number one goal. We're here for trainers and pokemon alike" Nurse Joy said. "I was hoping you could help me register for the Kalos League," Ash said. "I sure can. If you please touch this panel with your pokedex" Nurse Joy replied. "Okay" Ash replied as he pulled out his pokedex then put it down on one of the desk's screens.
Ash from Pallet Town is now registered to enter the Kalos League. Number of badges currently in your possession, zero. We wish you the best of luck.
"You're all set now, Ash," Clemont said. "Awesome, and I'm gonna win. My next step to becoming a pokemon master!" Ash happily said. "And every registered trainer is eligible to receive a Kalos Region badge case, here" Nurse Joy Added as the group looked over to see a wigglytuff in a nurse uniform walking towards the group, carrying a badge case. Out of curiosity, Ingrud pulled out her pokedex to scan the wigglytuff as she thought that this would be the perfect way to test out her new pokedex.
Wigglytuff, the balloon pokemon, the evolved form of Jigglypuff and the final evolved form of Igglybuff:
-A Normal/Fairy type.
-The body is soft and rubbery. When angered, it will suck in air and inflate itself to an enormous size.
"You're all registered. Good luck! Train hard and always do your best" Nurse Joy happily said to Ash as at this moment, Ingrid was wondering if she should register for the Kalos League as well.
If I register for the Kalos League then I will have a good shot at becoming the Kalos Region's next champion.
"Hey Nurse Joy!" Ingrid said as the nurse turned to face her. "I have just decided that I two want to register for the Kalos League" Ingrid confidently said. "Why yes. Just place your pokedex on this panel here and you should be all set" Nurse Joy replied as Ingrid did exactly that.
Ingrid from Pallet Town is now registered to enter the Kalos League. Number of badges currently in your possession, zero. We wish you the best of luck.
"Here is your badge case," Nurse Joy said, handing Ingrid a badge case. "Thanks" Ingrid thanked the good nurse as she put the badge case in her bag. "Alright Bulbasaur! We are all registered for the Kalos League now" Ingrid said to her pokemon as it just let out a happy sound in response. Ash told Ingrid to go wait with Clemont and Bonnie outside the Pokemon Center as he had to go make a quick phone call with Professor Oak.
Pretty soon, Ash left the Pokemon Center and approached his fellow traveling companions. "Guys! Thanks for waiting!" Ash happily said. "Hi, Ash, didn't you tell us you were going to challenge the Santalune Gym first?" Clemont asked. "Yeah. I'm pretty sure the gym leader should be back by now" Ash replied. "I think the best way to get to Santalune City is by traveling Route 4 all the way there," Clemont said. "Then Route 4 it is! Aren't you psyched, Pikachu?" Ash asked. "Pika!" Pikachu happily replied. "Froakie, you're gonna be great" Ash said to his froakie. "Froakie!" Froakie replied. "So, why don't we hit the road?" Clemont asked. "Let's go!" Bonnie cheerfully said as Ash now had a confused look on his face. "The sooner we leave, the sooner we're there," Clemont said as he began walking. "You don't have to show us around anymore," Ash said. "Silly Ash. We're all really, really good friends now, right? So we're going with you and Ingrid" Bonnie replied. "No joke?" Ash asked. "We're serious. Remember what you and Ingrid did back there? You both showed me what it's like to have real courage! I know I can get stronger. We both can get stronger traveling with you and Ingrid!" Clemont replied. "You're right, Clemont," Bonnie happily replied. "So? That's okay?" Clemont asked. "Of course it's okay! Traveling with friends is way more fun" Ash happily replied as Ingrid nodded in response to Clemont's question. "Alright, it's a deal! We'll have a great time!" Ash said, extending his hand out for Clemont to grab it. "Yes it's a deal!" Ingrid chimed in, extending her own hand. "Yeah, we sure will!" Clemont replied, extending his hand. "Hey, no fair. I can't reach!" Bonnie pouted. The three then bent down to be at height level with Bonnie. Bonnie, Bulbasaur, Pikachu and Froakie all joined in. "Let's go meet lots and lots of pokemon!" Bonnie happily exclaimed. "Right! Good friends! Together! Kalos, here we come!" Ash happily said before everyone put up their hands in the air. "Yeah!" Ash, Bonnie, Clemont and Ingrid all exclaimed at the same time.

Ingrid always liked walking through nature areas as she would take in her sights around her and enjoy the beautiful scenery around her. She most especially loved going on hikes through the woods with her family whenever they would go to her uncle's ranch in Upstate New York. Luckily, Route 4 was no different as it was just like another nature hike.
Ingrid was walking by herself through Route 4 as she told Ash and the others that she would meet up with them in Santalune City. She was really hoping to catch her very first pokemon as she was wondering which pokemon she would catch. Ingrid did see a few wild pokemon around her such as Caterpie, Spewpa and Kakuna but none of those pokemon really caught her attention. She then caught motion from a nearby yellow flower bed as there, she saw a small pokemon walking out of the flower bed. She suddenly recognized the pokemon as a ralts as she then pulled out her pokedex to scan it.
Ralts, the feeling pokemon:
-A psychic/fairy type.
-It is highly attuned to the emotions of people and Pokémon. It hides if it senses hostility.
-This ralts is male, it is about one foot and four inches. And it weighs about 14.6 pounds.
-Finally, it's known moves are double team, growl, disarming voice and confusion.
"Bingo. Alright Ralts you are mine!" Ingrid said, pulling out her pokeball as she prepared to catch Ralts. Ralts then turned to face Ingrid with a blank expression on its face. "Pokeball go!" Ingrid shouted but much to her disappointment, the ball missed, landing on the ground only a few inches away from Ralts.
The psychic type pokemon then used disarming voice on Ingrid which the twenty year old dodged pretty quickly. "Oh so you want a battle eh? Alrighty then, Bulbasaur tackle let's go" Ingrid ordered as her pokemon then used tackle on Ralts, knocking the smaller pokemon to the ground. Right when Ralts could try and get up,
Ingrid used this as her opportunity to throw another pokeball and this time the ball actually hit her intended target.
The pokeball began to shake before eventually stopping as a sign that Ralts was caught. An enormous grin lit up on Ingrid's face as she grabbed her pokeball and then held it up in the air. "Yes! I caught my very first pokemon! A ralts!" Ingrid cheered as her bulbasaur cheered with her. Ingrid then sent her ralts out. "Welcome to the team Ralts!" Ingrid happily said as her newly caught pokemon smiled in response.

This place is like the Lost Woods from Zelda.
Ingrid was lost as she could not remember where the route was in which she traveled on. Calling out for help was pointless as evident by how there was no one else in the forest.
Suddenly Ingrid was filled with a lot of relief once she heard another voice cheering from another part of the forest. So Ingrid decided to walk in the direction of the voice.
Sure enough she encountered a brown haired trainer who looked like she was in her teenage years. She was holding a pokeball and she had a beedrill by her side. She appeared to be wearing a cap with a master ball logo on it and she also was wearing a caterpie shirt and a pair of short shorts as well. "Excuse me," Ingrid said, causing both the girl and her beedrill to look in Ingrid's direction. "I was just wondering if you knew a way out of this forest" Ingrid said once more. "I will only show you the way out of this forest if you show me proof that you have earned the bug badge from the Santalune Gym" the trainer replied.
Ah crap, what am I going to say? I mean hell I haven't even won a battle.
"Um see… I was actually on my way to Santalune City and um… I have yet to earn my gym badge there" Ingrid replied. "Well then… if you haven't beaten my cousin's gym then in order to get directions, you must defeat me in a battle first" the trainer replied. "Wait! Did you just say your cousin's gym?" Ingrid asked. "Yeah! My cousin, Viola, is the Santalune City gym leader. See, I come from a long line of bug type trainers as my grandfather was even the first ever Santalune City Gym Leader. Why do you ask?" The trainer replied. "Well see… I think I may have met your cousin, Alexa" Ingrid replied. "Ah yes, Alexa. Yeah, unlike us bug type trainers, she wanted to become a journalist instead" the trainer replied.
"But questions aside before we begin our battle, allow me to introduce myself. I am Bug Master Bella and I vow to become the next Santalune Gym Leader after my older cousin retires. I am preparing by catching as many powerful bug type pokemon as I can" the bug master introduces herself. "And I am pokemon trainer, Ingrid" Ingrid introduces herself.
The two both backup to give each other space. "Alright send out your first pokemon" Bella said. "Ralts go!" Ingrid shouted as she sent her newly caught pokemon out. "Alright I am going to go easy on you with this pokemon that I just recently caught." Bella said as she then threw a poke ball up into the air. A ledyba came out.
"Ledyba use swift!" Bella ordered as Ledyba shot many stars at Ralts. "Dodge it Ralts!" Ingrid ordered but the move ended up hitting her pokemon anyway. "Ralts!" Ingrid exclaimed as her pokemon slowly got up off the ground. "Use growl now!" Ingrid ordered as her pokemon let out a loud growl.
"Now use confu-" Bella cut Ingrid off. "Tackle let's go!" Bella ordered as Ledyba came charging down at Ralts catching both the psychic type and its trainer off guard. "Ralts are you alright?" Ingrid asked as her pokemon slowly got up off the ground and let out a sound of approval. "Now use double team!" Ingrid ordered as multiple copies of Ralts appeared around it.
"Ledyba, use swift on all the copies!" Bella ordered as her pokemon began to fire many stars at the copies. "Ralts now confusion let's go!" Ingrid ordered as her pokemon's eyes began to glow blue. Suddenly, Ledyba's attack stopped as Ralts, with telekinetic force, thrusted the bug-type pokemon into a nearby tree. Pretty soon, the effect of confusion wore off as now Ledyba seemed to have control over its body again.
"Ledyba use supersonic!" Bella ordered as right before her ledyba could act, Ingrid ordered her ralts to use disarming voice. Suddenly, Ledyba was very weak as the disarming voice definitely took a toll on its body. "Ledyba use swift!" Bella ordered as unfortunately Ralts didn't have enough time to react to the sudden attack. The pokemon looked badly beaten but it was still in fighting condition. "Alright Ralts, now use confusion once more!" Ingrid ordered as Ralts once again used confusion on its opponent this time knocking the opposing pokemon into the ground. "Oh no Ledyba!" Bella exclaimed as she then returned her pokemon. "Yeah we did it Ralts!" Ingrid happily exclaimed as she along with her ralts both cheered.
"Don't be too confident that you won yet" Bella said. "Alright Beedrill I choose you!" Bella exclaimed as her beedrill flew onto the battlefield.
"Beedrill use harden!" Bella ordered as her beedrill hardened itself. "Ralts use disarming voice!" Ingrid ordered as her pokemon used that exact move. But, Beedrill dodged the move by flying up into the air and then it dove down and slashed at Ralts with its right arm, knocking the psychic type pokemon to the side.
"Now Beedrill, fury attack lets go!" Bella ordered as her pokemon then jabbed at Ralts multiple times eventually resulting in the smaller pokemon fainting. "Oh no Ralts!" Ingrid exclaimed as she then returned her pokemon. "Well Ingrid, it looks like that I, the bug master, have already taken down one of your pokemon," Bella said with a grin on her face. Ingrid then turned to face her bulbasaur.
"Bulbasaur" Ingrid began. "I am going to need you to battle out there" Ingrid said as her pokemon then headed onto the battlefield.
"Bulbasaur! Growl let's go!" Ingrid ordered as her pokemon then let out a loud growl. But Beedrill dodged the move and began to lunge down from the sky and towards Bulbasaur. Luckily, Ingrid and her pokemon both saw this coming.
"Bulbasaur! Use vine whip!" Ingrid exclaimed as her pokemon then unleashed two vines. Each vine targeted a different arm. Ingrid then ordered her pokemon to tie the vines together into a knot so that they could act as handcuffs for Beedrill.
"Now Bulbasaur use tackle!" Ingrid exclaimed as her pokemon then began charging towards Beedrill. Pretty soon, Beedrill broke free of its restraints but right before it could act, Bulbasaur came ramming into its stomach causing it to fall to the ground. "Beedrill use bug bite!" Bella ordered as her pokemon bit Bulbasaur's forehead eliciting a yelp of pain from the smaller pokemon. "Oh no Bulbasaur!" Ingrid nervously exclaimed.
"Now Beedrill use fury attack!" Bella ordered as her pokemon began to viciously attack Bulbasaur by jabbing it multiple times. "Bulbasaur! Are you alright?" Ingrid asked her pokemon as it slowly got up off the ground.
"Now Beedrill use fury attack once more!" Bella once again ordered as her beedrill began to charge towards Bulbasaur. "Oh no Bulbasaur dodge!" Ingrid shouted but she was a tad bit too late as some of Beedrill's jabs ended up hitting Bulbasaur causing it to gain even more pain.
Right before Beedrill could finish off Bulbasaur with one more fury attack, a lot of energy began to gather in Bulbasaur's bulb. Beedrill immediately stopped what it was about to do as it stared at Bulbasaur in awe along with Ingrid and Bella. Then suddenly, a burst of white energy shot out of Bulbasaur's bulb and towards Beedrill, causing opposing pokemon to crash into a tree. "D-did your bulbasaur just learn solar beam?" Bella shockingly asked. "I guess," Ingrid replied.
"Now Bulbasaur! Use vine whip!" Ingrid ordered as her bulbasaur began to whip Beedrill repeatedly. Right before Beedrill could get up and act, Ingrid ordered her pokemon to use tackle on Beedrill once more causing the bug type pokemon to once again crash into a tree. Beedrill then fell on the floor, fainted.
"B-but how on earth could I have lost?! Especially to someone who looks like they are new to pokemon training?!" Bella asked before returning her beedrill. "Yes! We did it Bulbasaur!" Ingrid cheered with her pokemon. "I am going to have to admit, Ingrid. You have earned my respect through that battle we just had" Bella said. "Now come with me as I will bring you to Santalune City myself" Bella said once more as Ingrid began to follow her out of the forest.
After a long time of walking, the duo finally arrive in Santalune City in which Bella brings Ingrid to the Pokemon Center there so that her pokemon could be healed there.

Even though to Ingrid the hospitality at the Pokemon Center does not beat the hospitality at a five star hotel back on Earth. It is still nice nonetheless. Ingrid is now just sitting on her bed reminiscing about her day.
Yes! I have just won my first pokemon battle! But I know that my actual gym battle won't be too easy!

A/N: Well it looks like Ingrid has just caught her first pokemon and has also won her first battle. Well I hope that you all are looking forward to the next chapter as we will get to see Ingrid reunite with Ash and friends and also battle Viola. Also I made a slight change to this chapter as I had Ralts get hit by Ledyba's swift attack rather than dodging it. Thank you to SLappYNano for pointing that mistake out. Stay tuned.
