I was walking beside the Pharaoh, we were dressed in our formal attire. The Prince took a deep breathe.
"You ok?" I asked him concerned.
"He smiled at me," he must have been 12 or something.
"I will be fine, father wants me to be a bigger part of the festival this year." He said.
"Is that all! You'll do great!" I grinned at him, he chuckled.
"With you by my side I am sure you are right." he ruffled my hair, and we turned the corner. I moved closer to him, as the Pharaoh appeared. My eyes dropped to my sandals.
"Are you ready," he said gently.
"Yes father,"
I nodded still not looking at him. I heard him sigh, he's robe clad knee coming into my line of sight. Warm rough hand gently took my chin and lifted my eyes to dark slightly wrinkled eyes.
"Come on little one, head up. It's all right." He said smiling, he touched my shoulder before righting himself. He turned around and walked through the gold doors.
"Let the feast begin!" he called.
I jumped up, instantly wrapping my blankets around me. I kept my hands close to my centre. I checked the time.
4.53am
I sighed, and made my way out of bed putting on some warm fluffy trousers and my dressing gown.
As I mixed the batter together, I heard footsteps getting closer.
"What are you doing up?"
I turned to see Grandpa looking at me in concern.
"I just had another dream, woke up a bit cold." I said, picking up the coffee beside me.
"Was it a good memory?"
"Mostly, we were just walking into a festival, for a God of some kind I imagine. I was scared of the Pharaoh, but I reassured the Prince, or who we know as Pharaoh." I smiled, taking another sip, before I put the batter into the pan.
Within half an hour everyone was down and enjoying their breakfast. Grandpa turned the radio on, and then sat back down to finish his food.
"We plead for citizens to be careful,"
We all stopped eating and looked at the black box on the bench.
"a dangerous prisoner has escaped. Do not approach this man, a hotline has been set up for anyone who sees him. We urge for people to travel in groups, particular and night."
Dad got up from his chair and turned it off.
"Dad we don't want to hear about the grime, just everyone be careful." He said looking at us. Yugi and I nodded.
"We will," Yugi said.
"And good luck on your exams today," Grandpa smiled.
"Thanks Grandpa, these are the last ones, so it should be ok."
"Come on lets go meet Téa and get these two over with."
We walked towards the school ready to finish our final exams of Junior year!
"Finally," Joey cheered, stretching his arms above his head, as the pink sun sank behind the school.
"Exams are finally over," Tristan put his hands in his pockets, a smile on his face.
"Now we can relax,"
"Hardly Joey," I said. He looked at me confused.
"Now, we have to focus more on our past, and how we can complete the prophecy, it said that evil will rise again, remember? We have to have a plan."
"Yeah, that's a good point," Yugi said, looking at the puzzle. The Pharaoh appeared by his side, he smiled at me before looking serious again.
"The fate of the world rests on our shoulders, we have to do everything we can to prepare for this threat." He said.
"Pharaoh says, that we should probably have a plan to save the world." I informed every one of the silent conversation.
I could tell he and Yugi were talking in their minds.
"All right, why don't we go to Burger World. Eat then start the war talk." Joey said. Téa scowled at him.
"This isn't a joke, Joey!" she put her hands on her hips.
"I know!" he said raising his hands. "But who can think on an empty stomach?"
I laughed.
"Hasn't there just been a big break out?" Téa said anxiously.
"Like the criminal is going to go to Burger World," Tristan said.
"You just want to fill your stomach," I laughed.
"Come on we got Mana's magic if we need it and between me and Tristan we can take um."
"This guys is one of the most dangerous prisoners, in the US, I doubt you two can take him. Have you heard what he's done." Téa said shuddering.
"I doubt we'll bump into him here Téa." I put my hand on her shoulder
"We'll be fine." Yugi smiled as we made our way to Burger World.
We got our food and found a booth away from everyone else so we couldn't be overheard. For a long time Joey and Tristan didn't speak. They were too busy inhaling food.
"Will you two slow down!" Téa scowled at them. "One of these days you are going to choke,"
"I can't help it," Joey said with a half of his fries in his mouth. I rolled my eyes and looked at Yugi who smiled back at me, looking at our friends fondly.
"Right, I am going to the bathroom, then we are talking about the fate of the world." I rose to my feet, they all looked at me for a moment, all serious.
"It's crazy that you're not exerting." Tristan said.
"I know right," Joey said.
"I'll be back in a second," I moved away from the table, I checked my pocket for my phone, when arms grabbed me, I could feel cold metal by my temple.
"Everyone down!" he yelled. "Or we'll see if her brains are as pretty as her body." I tried to scream against his hand.
"Easy princess," he sneered. Oh the irony, I thought. Still holding the gun to my head he slipped a cloth around my eyes leaving me slightly, and spun me around.
"Do exactly as I say." He said, pulling me into his torso his arm wrapped around my stomach. He took a step forward forcing me to do the same.
He continued until we were sat and a booth he kept the gun to my temple and his arm around my shoulders. "Now none of your little friends move or they'll get," he moved the gun away from my face to shot, I gasped.
"Is everyone ok!" I cried terrified he shot someone.
"Be quiet!" he demanded.
"Not till you tell me if you hurt anyone." I said, he pressed the gun to my temple.
"Say that again." He threatened.
"We're all ok, do as he says." Yugi cried.
"Listen to spiky. Actually, Spiky go get me a burger."
"YUGI! DON'T GO NEAR HIM! STAY THERE!"
"Shut up!" he roared, there was a loud slap, and my face began to burn on my right cheek.
"Mana!" Yugi cried. I heard everyone gasp, and a small child cry.
"Release her," I heard a familiar commanding voice. Uh oh. The guy laughed grabbing my arm tightly, I felt the cold metal at my temple again.
"Come here, or I'll shot." He said, I could hear the Pharaoh stepping closer and closer, I couldn't lose them, either of them.
"Mana, that's your name right, well straddle my waist." He said.
"And how am I supposed to do that blindfolded," I snapped. I felt him yank me onto his lap, the metal pushed closer, it made me see stars. I heard the Pharaoh growl.
"She your girlfriend or something," he sneered. I closed my eyes behind the blindfold, and took a deep breath. If the gun was still pressed against my temple, that meant that the others were safe. If I lifted that hand up while I ripped off the blindfold. But what if he had a second gun? A gun he pulled out after I was blindfolded. Wait, his hand was on my hip! He didn't have another gun! I took an internal deep breath before I pushed my hand up. I collided with the side of the gun, and his hand I pushed it higher forcing the gun to face the ceiling, I heard a bang then something metal drop. I ripped of the blindfold to see in the shock of me fighting back, he had let go of the gun. I moved away from him, the police were already here pointing their guns at him forcing him to come quietly. I dropped to the floor in exhaustion as the adrenaline left me system the Pharaoh came closer putting and arm around my shoulder. I wrapped my arms around him. Calming myself with his a Yugi's hybrid scent. I could feel my heart against his chest. He held me tighter.
"Are you alright?" he murmured into my ear.
"Few bruises, but other than that I'm fine." I said, pressing my face into the crook of his neck.
"Mana!" I heard Joey, Téa and Tristan cry. I looked up to see them rushing towards us.
"I'm ok guys," I promised, as they dropped to the floor, each one of them had a hand on a part of me. The blood left my face as I looked behind them. Glass circles and flashing lights, people in smart clothes… the media was here. I hid my face back into The Pharaoh's shoulder.
"How are they here so quickly!" I hissed.
"I called the hotline, under the table." Tristan said. They must have seen the siren's heading towards this place and followed." He was scowling.
I glanced over again, and groaned as I could see paramedics rushing towards me.
"You are getting checked over," the Pharaoh said sternly, I sighed but nodded as the two middle-aged men got close enough to hear us.
"Hello, my name is Dan," the guy with fuller hair said, "and this is Rick." He pointed to the man with the tuffty island. "What's your name?" they asked me. "Can we just get in there? You've done great," he said the Pharaoh.
"I am fine,"
"Well fine, can I get your full name and your date of birth,"
I saw the stretcher coming in behind them.
"Oh no, no way in hell are you getting me on there."
"Mana," The Pharaoh said sternly.
After negotiations to get the press to back off, I ungracefully agreed to the blanket and oxygen, but refused the stretcher. The Pharaoh called Grandpa and Dad and told them to meet us at the hospital. The rest of the gang rushed round to Tristan's to get a lift to the hospital to get a lift of his Dad. The Pharaoh held my hand in the ambulance, Yugi had his transparent hand on my thigh.
Paramedic Dan rode in the back with us.
I was not looking forward to seeing Grandpa.
"Can you knock me out so I don't have to calm my Grandpa down.
"I'll give you a small sedative,"
"Thanks Dan," I grinned at him. The Pharaoh chuckled.
"Yeah, you can deal with Grandpa, make sure he doesn't freak out too much."
"I will," he promised. I nodded to Dan who took out the needle. After the sharp scratch, I let my eyes close.
Feeling fuzzy I forced my eyes open, a horrid beeping was by my side.
"Mana, it's ok honey your safe." I heard Dad's voice.
I opened my eyes to see everyone by my bed. I looked for the Pharaoh, and saw Yugi, as if I had called him, his transparent figure sat beside me on the bed.
"I'm fine, I feel normal." I promised, looking at each person in turn.
"You should be more than fine," Tristan growled, I frowned at him. I noticed that Joey looked just as miserable.
"Er guys can I have a minute with Tristan and Joey." I said to the group, the two seemed surprised that I had picked them out, but didn't protest.
"Grandpa, can you find out when I can leave, please."
He smiled and kissed my forehead.
"I can see what I can do." He promised, everyone cleared out till it was just the three of us.
"You guys aren't our personal body guards alright," I said as the door closed behind Yugi. "You shouldn't feel responsible for us getting into trouble."
"It's you that gets in the most trouble." Tristan grumbled.
"Oh shut up," she muttered. "But I mean it ok, don't beat yourselves up because I'm a danger magnet and we get into a lot of tough situations."
Joey smiled.
"Thanks for letting us off the hook, Mana –"
"There is no hook to let you off of. Listen to me. You. Are. Not. To. Blame."
"You don't have to talk like we're idiots." Tristan muttered, but I could see a smile creep onto his face.
"Then stop acting like one then," I smiled, taking both their hands.
The police came in not long after that and took my statement, it wasn't long after that they let me go.
As soon as I got home with everyone hovering around me. As soon as we walked through the door I could hear the phones ringing. I sighed, and picked up the phone.
"Hello,"
"Mana! Thank Goodness you ok Hun?"
"Mai!" I gasped.
"I saw the news, have they let you out of hospital already."
"Mai, I am fine really. I barely have a scratch, don't worry."
"I'll come visit soon alright," she said.
"I'd love that, but don't come because of this. Just let me know when you're free ok. I am going to go to bed. We'll talk soon."
"Ok Hun goodnight,"
I hung up, as soon as I did the phone began again.
"I am going to bed, can someone else deal with all the well-wishers."
"Of course, Honey, we will let everyone know that you are alright." Dad said. I handed my phone to Yugi.
"Can the Pharaoh come upstairs," I whispered as I handed it to him. He was beside me instantly.
"Of course, Mana," he said, I smiled. I made my way upstairs, and curled up on my bed, patting for him to lie beside me.
"Can you just stay while I sleep."
"I will do anything you need," he promised, touching my face. I could almost feel his touch. I closed my eyes and let the darkness take me.
I hoped you guys enjoyed this chapter! I will see you guys on the next update
