Mana POV…

There was a strange beeping. It sounded like it was beside me, and voices murmuring. I knew the voice… My friends… but why was I asleep with them all here? And what was that infuriating bleeping?

As the pain and exhaustion washed over me, I remembered Mai's duel with Marik and how I had blocked my friends from Ra. With myself.

I tried to open my eyes. Was Mai and Joey ok? What had happened?

Using as much energy as I could muster if focused on opening my eyes. I felt them twitch.

Come on. Open!

They snapped open, faced were turned two different ways, some towards me and the others towards the bed beside me. I looked and saw the long blonde hair, feeling an ice-cube drop into my stomach. Oh Mai.

"Mana," Yami said in relief, coming closer to me, the rest of them all turned.

"Thank God you're ok," Téa pushed Duke out of the way to get closer to my bed.

"You scared us for a minute there," Tristan said, putting his hands in his pockets.

"What happened? Mai? How long was I out?"

"Shh rest," Yami soothed, touching my hair.

"Half an hour," Joey answered my last question.

I saw the door open behind Serenity. A doctor and the Kaiba brothers walked in taking in the scene.

"You're up," Mokuba said rushing to my side and taking my hand. Why did it hurt – by the Gods they had given me a drip!

"Argh," I said. As if Yami knew what I was about to do, he took my other hand and held it down. I scowled at him.

"I have the results from the test,"

Test?... Oh, shit yeah – wow. I felt everyone close in, I could barely see the white lab coat. I had known why they had done it, it was to keep me protected. I smiled as I felt a warmth flood me.

"Sir, the test has been confirmed," the Doctor said holding out the sheet. The Pharaoh was by my side hidden from those who didn't know the truth he began to maneuverer my captured hand into a gentle interlocked finger. He then gave my hand a squeeze; I smiled up at him nervously. I hated that I had to stay where I was, but I knew even if I tried to stand my legs would buckle.

"Well?" Kaiba snapped.

"She is your sister," He said weary of Kaiba's reaction. Kaiba snatched the sheet of him and read it carefully. Then he looked up at me, despite all the people between us our eyes still connected. There was an expression in his eyes I had seen rarely when he looked at Mokuba.

"Move out of my way geeks," he said pushing them all away before, yanking me from the bed and wrapping me tightly in his arms, causing multiple gasps around the room. I was in too much shock to respond, he had all of my weight, I didn't think my legs would work due to shock never mind Ra!

"How did you survive that? Your side… It was completely destroyed." Kaiba asked me, now holding me at arm's length as though he was scanning for the injuries I would have had in the crash, as he did so he allowed me to take my own weight. That failed miserably as my legs buckled, he and Yami helped me back onto the bed. I scowled at the thought of needing help; Yami saw this, and he was going to pay later for the way his lips twitched.

"All the magic stuff is real Kaiba," I said. "I – like you – have been reincarnated, I was a magician in my past life and I am a magician in this one. The pharaoh lives inside Yugi, well the puzzle around Yugi's neck. It is all true your soul has been locked in the shadow realm for a time for goodness sake yet you still don't believe."

"Wait so you really are Kaiba's sister. In both times!" Joey said loudly.

"It seems so," said Yugi, my head snapped back at him. Why had they changed? Then I saw his expression. I tried to get up again forcing Yugi to catch me, Joey quickly pushed Kaiba back to help him support me.

"You're still my brother Yugi." I said in his ear. "I'm still a Muto." He hugged me back tightly.

/Get back in that bed, before I chain you to it/ Yami's spirit form growled. I chuckled at him.

\Isn't that a little dark for you, my Pharaoh\ I teased, but even that drained me, it must be shadow magic in general, I forced my eyes to remain open.

"So are you going to accept your past or do I have to spell it out for you." I said looking straight up at Kaiba.

"Give me some proof them I will," he retorted.

"The hieroglyphics at school you could read them like English right."

"My step father forced me to study multiple things," he said. "Hieroglyphics may have been one of them."

I sighed, and then looked back at Yugi. "Yugi can you help me give him some proof."

"How?"

"Observe Kaiba," I said. "Look at Yugi's height compared to Joey's, look at his eyes and listen to his voice." Kaiba did as I instructed. "Yugi talk, say anything,"

"Er, looks like were kind of family now," Yugi said shyly.

"Ok Pharaoh," I said eyeing Yugi meaningfully. The pharaoh appeared by my side.

"Now Kaiba, notice the change in height, eyes and slight hair style. Pharaoh say something."

"I hope we once had a strong friendship as cousins,"

Kaiba's eyes went wide.

"You seriously never noticed the difference before?" I said laughing. "Then again this lot didn't," I said nodding at Téa, Tristan and Joey.

"Neither did you," Joey said. I scoffed.

"I always knew but I didn't want to say anything because I didn't know anything about the Spirit of the Puzzle as I called him back then."

"Mr Kaiba," one of the suits came in through the door.

"What?" he said.

"Sir, would you like to postpone the final duel for another hour, tomorrow morning or proceed now."

"Why did you –?"

"For the results of the DNA," Mokuba said. "Imagine trying to concentrate when half of you is thinking about the results,"

"You mean I got Seto Kaiba to think of something over than the tournament," I pretended to faint putting my hand dramatically on my forehead.

"Haha," Kaiba grumbled as the others laughed. He then turned to the suit. "Make the announcement that the duel will start in ten minutes."

"Serenity, you sure you'll be ok on your own?" Joey said anxiously.

"Of course," she said.

"If Marik or anyone else comes in I'll keep them safe." I promised.

"You are not allowed to move an inch," Yami said. I rolled my eyes. "I mean it Mana,"

"Yeah, yeah," I muttered, my eyes closing. To be honest I figured I would probably sleep till morning now. My body got heavier and I drifted off into a much-needed sleep…

My shoulders were moving. Someone was shaking them; they were gentle but they achieved their purpose. I begrudgingly opened my eyes to see Yugi above me.

"Yugi?"

"Ishizu is telling us about Marik," he said softly. His eyes widened slightly, his face more serious. "Ishizu can she hurt herself from not using the staff?"

"Yugi!" I hissed.

"No," she assured him. "Though the body may get weaker as she uses magic without a tool, it will not cause any long-term harm to the body."

She then began to tell us about the keepers of the tomb, her rough family dynamic. Odeon's role in the family. She told us how Marik was never meant to leave the tomb, but they did anyway. This is how the dark resentment began to fester within his magic, causing the darker version we saw being released today. She then spoke of how it was Shadi that revealed to them that their families wait was over and that we had returned to this world. Their father caught them returning and punished Odeon, causing the darker side of Marik to be born and end his father to the shadow realm. We all sat in silence waiting for her story to finish before Joey spoke up.

"I'm supposed to feel sorry for this spoilt –"

"Joey, he was the opposite of spoilt. The Ishtars have sacrificed their lives for 5000 years, I'm so sorry. When did it become forbidden to leave the tombs?"

"I believe it was during a time when the tombs of the Pharaoh's were being raided. From then we have remained buried to protect the Pharaoh and Queen."

"That is awful, I am so sorry that happened to your family," I said, I could feel my eyes burn all of those generations, all of those people trapped waiting just for us. Knowing that they may never even meet us.

"It is possible to destroy the evil in my brother, without destroying the good. I realise now destiny can be changed."

"But how?" Yugi asked.

"As the Pharaoh's vessel you have the power to do it,"

"Attention Duellists and guest," I jumped as the voice blared through the speakers. "Lights out in two minutes."

"All right, time to crash in Joey's suit." Tristan said.

"What you talking about Tristan," Joey scowled.

"Come on your rooms like a palace you'll never even know that I'm there."

"Oh I'll know by the smell, Serenity sweet dreams let's get some shut eye." Joey said. Then he turned to me. "You rest up all right, just do what the doctors says."

They all left and Ishizu turned back to us.

"Yugi there is one more thing I must give to you. It is a powerful object that I no longer have any use for."

"Thanks what is it?" Yugi asked, Ishizu began to unclasp her necklace offering it to him.

"Fate choose me to wear the millennium necklace, but it is time I passed it's magic on to the one who is destined to save the world from despair. You see it no longer shows me the future Yugi. I have completed my mission, and now it is your turn."

Yugi held his hand out for the necklace.

"Thank you," he said, she smiled and stood up.

"I will leave you know, my Pharaoh, my Queen, Yugi." She smiled and left the room.

"You best head out too Yug, before the lights go off."

"You sure you'll be ok here –" he turned as the door opened, Mokuba smiled sheepishly.

"Hey guys, I was wondering if I could chat with Mana a little bit?" he said.

"Sure Mokuba," Yugi smiled. "I'll see you both tomorrow." He said, he squeezed my hand before leaving me and my other younger brother together.

Mokuba sat beside me.

"How are you feeling?" he said.

"Much better," I smiled.

"So, are you ok with finding out we're related?" he said looking at his lap.

"Don't be so silly of course, I am." I said gesturing for him to come and sit on the bed with me. He didn't look at me as he climbed up beside me.

"It's just a bit of a shock for everyone, that's all. We will all get used to the new dynamics. Especially Kaiba being nice – I guess I'll have to stop calling him Kaiba." I said shaking my head slightly.

"I'm sorry he was so mean to you," he said curling into my side.

"It's ok Mokuba," I soothed, stroking his hair. "At least it means I'll have him under my thumb for a while," I smirked, I could feel Mokuba grin into my shoulder.

"Yeah, I bet you could make him do a bunch of stuff." He said laughing.

"Wanna help me think of some crazy things?"

"Sure!" he grinned mischievously. I laughed and he began to fill me in on some of the things that he knew his brother didn't like. This was going to be fun…

A familiar extreme coat walked into the medical room. His eyes went straight to me, then to the way me and Mokuba were positioned. The younger Kaiba had fallen asleep amongst our plotting to get his brother – our brother – to do what we wanted. He walks in his eyes fixed on the two of us, I blushed slightly looking down on Mokuba 's face. I could feel Kaiba walking towards us.

"May I sit," he asked. I nodded still not looking at him. I felt the bed move as his weigh dipped the side. "I am so sorry for everything I have ever said to you. I would like to apologise for my actions." He said with such a sincerity, but like a coward my gaze never left Mokuba's sleeping face.

"You were an ass," I mumbled.

"I was… you looked so much like her – you. I couldn't deal with it same appearance to what I imagined, same name, and the same personality. You were what she should have had a, family and friends living as a normal teenager."

"Really," I said, looking up nervously, then I remembered something. "That is what Pegasus meant wasn't it. When he was tormenting you. When he had Mokuba…"

"Yes,"

"You were still a dick," I told him. "And you do know this officially makes you a dweeb, right?" I said grinning.

"Are you saying I am going to have to tolerate Wheeler."

"Better yet you have to actually be nice," I said.

"Nice," he repeated.

"Yeah that word mean that you have to be thoughtful and help, you know polite. You're always up for a challenge," I said grinning. "Oh and by the way I've done one thing you never could."

"And what is that?"

"Kicked both Yugi and the Pharaoh's butt in duel monsters. Well sometimes he beats me it varies."

"Maybe we should duel," he said.

"I don't want to wound your pride any more than it is,"

He raised his eyes at me making me giggle.

"I don't think I've ever seen you like this," I said.

"Because I don't show it to anyone I don't care about," Seto said wrapping an arm around my shoulders and pulling me towards him. "I just can't believe you're alive,"

"Ta dah," I muttered, not looking at him. Maybe when I got home I could try and use that memory, charm, see life before finding the Muto's…

"If it is all right with you there is something I would like to speak with you about." He said, his tone made me look up at him.

"Er sure," I said hesidently.

"I am new to this… this magic business." He said after a long moment, I tried not to smirk as he continued. "But something happened during the duel. Something powerful…"

"Tell me about it,"

He dove into to how the rod had began to act up and the vision he had. Then he spoke of how he could read the ancient text on Ra's card. A text that the computers had yet to complete analysing. He told her that he had had a flashback he had to a time in Egypt.

"It sounds like the rod has sparked a lot of this," I said, combing over the knowledge I had gained from returned memories or study of the books Shadi had given me over Easter. "It belonged to you, so it doesn't work very well against you. Or me. And maybe even Mokuba… being close to it's magic being around the shadow realm again, maybe it triggered some of your old power…"

We both thought about my words in silence for a moment.

"Could you tell me a little about the flashback?" I asked him.

"Flashes of various tablets, and faces. There was a girl with white hair in my arms, and a tablet with the blue eyes white dragon. It made me change my strategy and win the duel."

"I see… I mean yeah I think given you and the rod's connection it gave you flashes of the past." I paused for a moment. "I have a few questions of my own," I said to him, biting my lip nervously feeling embarrassed.

"Of course," he said immediately. I felt my cheeks burn.

"How old am I?" I laughed. "Never thought I would have to ask that? Is my birthday, even right?"

"You're 15," he said gently. I was…

"So, I shouldn't be heading into senior year of high school." I muttered.

"That fact you are doing so well in class is incredible." He said, could I hear pride.

"I skipped two grades without even realising it haha," I chuckled. "Wow, 15. And my birthday… I thought it was May 17th is that…"

"That's right," he said.

"Well, at least there is that," I rubbed my face. Wow 15… my eyes were beginning to hurt from wanting to sleep, but I still had questions.

"I can ask my lawyers to started editing your paperwork… and to convince the school to leave you where you are in school."

"Thanks, but uh, for now can I wrap my brain around that. Uh what else could I have completely wrong about my –"

"You were in a severe car accident, it's amazing you survived. Do not put yourself down for not being able to remember."

I nodded a little, feeling my eyes drop. What was my next question again? My brain was foggy.

"Here," he said, moving to pick up Mokuba. "You need rest, I will take him to his room and allow you to sleep." He scooped up his – our – little brother. With another look at me before he turned and walked from the room.

I allowed my heavy eyes to fall as sleep began to find me.
