I felt my eyes begin to flutter, and a scowl forming on my face. I wished I could have stayed in the puzzle a little longer, stayed with Yami a little longer…
"I take it you are not a morning person," a familiar voice said. I opened my eyes to see Kaiba looking down at me.
"Hey, uh, not today no." I said, starting to sit up, stretching. I felt so much better than I had over the last few days even if I knew that it would most likely be short lived. "So, er, what brings you to my bedside this morning," I tried to joke.
"I wanted to talk to you about some things. Preparations for after the tournament. When Battle City is over. I'd like to get to know you better. Just you, myself and Mokuba."
"Er sure, where would you want to go," I said nervously.
"Shopping, you should have some of what Mokuba and I have had, and –"
"Money isn't love, you can't buy back that time… or the trust."
"I know, but we would like to spoil you a little, and I wold like to give you a gift along with my apology for the way I treated you."
"Your money," I shrugged. "I'm going to bankrupt your company," I grinned. He snorted.
"I doubt it, Kaiba Corp is –"
"I was joking Kaiba,"
"Seto, Mana, Seto."
"I will when I am comfortable with it," I promised.
"You did earlier,"
"Yeah, but I thought I was in 2948BC." I said, he laughed at me. "What no magic nonsense, illusion, deluded make believe," I queried.
"I saw Yugi change with my own eyes, no trickery did that, I was fooling myself to try and block out the Shadow Realm."
"Our final destination is in sight stand by for decent on KaibaCorp Island for the conclusion of the Battle City finals."
A loud rumbling echoed through the blimp as it jolted in a new direction. Well this couldn't be good.
"What in the –" Kaiba went to leave.
"I'm coming with you," I said sitting up and turning so my legs were over the bed.
"Absolutely –"
"I am fine, and I'd rather know what is going on." I said, ignoring his tone and standing up. I felt a little wobblily, but my head was clear.
"Fine, but hold on to me," he said, holding his arm out to support me. I accepted and we rushed to the cockpit.
"What's going on?" he growled to the employees who were franticly pushing buttons and checking screens.
"Seto, we've lose control," Mokuba said from his station. "The blimp is changing direction on it's own."
"Impossible. How can this be?" Kaiba said to his staff.
"I don't know it's as if the autopilot was repromagramed," one of the pilots said.
"Then shut it down. Right now!" Kaiba barked.
"Hey, what's with the turbulence?" I heard Joey's voice, I turned to see the rest of the group behind him.
"Yeah some of us sleep past 5," Duke said. "Of course, some of us don't need beauty sleep," he said winking at me. I ignored him. The ship swerved again, we all stumbled, Kaiba grabbed me as it jolted.
"Are you ok? Shouldn't you still be in bed," Yugi said.
"I'm fine,"
"The autopilot isn't responding," the same guy called back to the rest of us.
"Make it respond," Kaiba snapped.
"But it's rejecting every one of my commands. What shall we do?"
"I pay you good money, now do whatever it takes to get us back on course for Kaiba Corp Island."
"That pile of junk," Tristan said looking at the admittedly junk filled island.
"Hey, watch what your calling junk that's where our company started." Mokuba snapped at him.
"Is that the final duelling site?" Yugi asked.
"Hey guys maybe this isn't the priority right now." I said gesturing to the frantic crew.
"I got it!" the pilot burst out. "Our navigation computers are taking commands from outside the ship. Someone's hacked into the mainframe and changed our destination coordinates."
"There is no way that's true!" Mokuaba said looking at his own screens confused. "The system on this ship is state of the art."
"Our situation is worsening. Losing altitude rapidly."
We all yelled or screamed as the ship nosedived, I felt Kaiba grab my locking me to his body to keep me upright, whole his other arm clutched Mokuba's panel. We jolted away from the tower on KaibaCorp Island and flashing red symbol appeared on the monitor.
"I can see that you buffoon!" Kaiba snarled.
"Everybody hold on," the pilot yelled as we dropped closer to the earth. We crashed into the water, I felt the jolt forward, Kaiba's arm keeping me from falling. I glanced anxiously at my friends who were all supporting each other or themselves as we crashed. We lifted up from the water again.
"Is everyone all right?" the pilot said.
"Ergh you mean other than the whiplash and the sprained ankle." Tristan groaned.
"Can you say law suit,"
"Shut up Joey," I said.
"Try the emergency override system," Mokuba said, as I was still nestled in Kaiba's lean frame, he arm still gripped tightly around me. "It's no use I've been completely locked out."
Those who had fallen began to stand up again as the screen fuzzed blocking the island from view.
"Greetings duellists. There is nothing wrong with your television set." Said a voice, then a green haired 10-year-old appeared on the screen. "I'm in control now." He said.
"Identify yourself?" Kaiba barked.
"Always barking orders, aren't you? Hmm? I've been observing you, and it's time to put you in your place, Seto. So, from now on I'll be calling the shots around here and my first order of business is to put an end to your little card game."
"You'll never get away with this you creep." Mokuba yelled at the screen.
"Too late for that I already have." He said.
"Look kid, I demand to know your name," Kaiba said, I sighed he really wasn't helping things.
"There you go again."
"Can you tell us your name, please?" I said, ignoring Kaiba's glare. "I think given that you've just caused us to crash land into the middle of nowhere you can give us that right?"
"Noah," he said. "And Seto and I go back quite a long way."
"All right enough of your foolish games," Kaiba said, I could feel his inpatients growing and his urge to be back in control of the situation.
"I'm afraid my games have only just begun you fools." The screen turned into a window to see we were right in the middle of the ocean, nothing in front of us but the horizon.
"What do you think he meant by that, Seto?" Mokuba said.
"Unfortunately, I think we're about to find out," Joey said, looking ahead as something began to emerge from the water.
"What is that?" Téa cried.
"It's huge," Duke gasped.
"And it's still growing," Joey said, looking anxiously at Serenity.
"Great, cause we didn't have enough going on at the moment," I grumbled, Kaiba heard me, looking down at me in concern. I waved him off.
"I have some bad news, Mr Kaiba,"
"What is it?" he said, turning away from me to scowl back at the growing mass.
"Well sir, it appears that floating fortress is using a tracker beam to pull our craft towards it."
"What is this Star Trek," I grumbled.
"Look you little brat, enough is enough," Tristan yelled at the monitor.
"It's no use guys that kid has us right where he wants us." Joey said. The top of the thing dropped lowering us into the middle and right into the centre of this floating trap.
"He's activating our landing motion sir. There's nothing I can do."
"As soon as we land, I am going to make that little brat pay." Kaiba snarled.
"I want first crack at him," Tristan said.
"Easy he's just a kid," Duke said.
"Are we safe?" Serenity asked, looking up at her brother. I realised Joey was holding Serenity in a very similar way to Kaiba was with me. I didn't quite know how to feel about that. Or rather, I have too many feeling about that.
"Of course, we are sis, as long as I'm on –"
"That's enough," Kaiba turned on Joey. "This is my aircraft and I'll handle this on my own."
"Whatever," Joey scowled at him. No one was surprised at Kaiba's outburst.
"Stop it you two, there are safety in numbers, as long as we are all together that should keep us a lot safer."
Once we were fully stationary Noah appeared again.
"Thanks for dropping in Seto," he said, wow could you get less original. "Time for you and your friends to exit the ship."
