Chapter twelve:
Kaoru blinks awake not sure if he's been asleep for that long. He shifts to check for Akio who he sees is still asleep. He tries to not move too much as he looks over to Mai. He doesn't see her giving any signs of being awake. He frowns in worry at this. He glances to Akio again after feeling him shift.
Akio blinks his eyes open as he shifts his head to where Kaoru can see. "Morning." He yawns.
"Morning." Kaoru greets and once Akio shifts to sit up then he gets up going to Mai. He can feel Akio watching him as he does so. He crouches beside Mai. He presses his pointer and middle finger against Mai's neck. He is looking for any pulse as he is worried about her condition. He finds a slightly weak pulse then he looks to her face when he hears her gagging. He quickly moves her to the toilet just in time for her to throw up with noticeable blood mixed in it. He frowns in deep concern and hears Akio sob in worry. He doesn't know what to do. He isn't a doctor.
Maybe if Kyouya was here then he'd know how to help her…
Kaoru isn't sure what he can do as Mai doesn't seem conscious even after having thrown up. He glances to Akio. "Is there any chance he'd get her looked at?" He inquires to which Akio shakes his head.
"I-I highly doubt it." Akio sniffles looking away upset.
Kaoru turns back to Mai feeling so worried about her. He isn't sure that she will survive and she's likely suffering right now. He really doesn't know what to do.
The two that are conscious turn as the door slams open.
The man comes over holding a large knife in one hand.
Kaoru and Akio tense up.
"Move away from her." The man demands to which Kaoru hesitates with wide eyes. He snarls storming over rather quickly slashing Kaoru's shoulder.
Kaoru cries out and falls back to the floor. He notices Akio almost starts to run over but he gives the other a look to tell him to stay there. He glances to see what will happen as his body is still in shock from the attack.
Mai is grabbed and the man drags her away from Kaoru.
The man glares at Akio then at Kaoru. "If either of you try anything I won't hesitate to take you out. You all are replaceable!" He warns with deep aggression in his snarl. He drags Mai towards out of the room.
Kaoru watches in terror at what he plans to do with her. He however can't help but remember that Akio needs him. He without a doubt will be killed if he tries to save Mai. He tries to push down the guilt by telling himself that she wasn't likely to survive anyways.
"Hello!?" A voice calls from the area in the actual place with it drifting into the area. This voice makes all of them freeze to which the man drops Mai turning to look to the way out.
The man snarls then hurries out quickly locking the door.
Akio hurries over to Mai with a worried cry and he holds her unconscious body.
Kaoru gets up managing to push through the pain and he heads over as well. He sits next to Akio. He doesn't see any knife injuries on her. He flinches at a touch to his wound only to turn to see a tearful Akio pulling his hand back. "Sorry. It's just a bit sensitive." He tries to assure the other offering him a smile.
Akio hurries away tearing out some fabric from the bottom of the mattress. He comes back tying it like a makeshift bandage.
Kaoru lets him do so while trying to not flinch away as the wound is indeed sensitive.
"I know its not much first aid but it should help… I think?" Akio pulls his hands away once done.
Kaoru nods his head. "Yes. I think that it should be fine." He agrees glad to have at least something in place. "I really appreciate you doing what you can for it." He is glad to see some happiness come to Akio at hearing this. He looks to Mai hoping that she'll be okay though he has his doubts. He hates that he has no way to help the state that she is in. He feels his heart is heavy with the very idea of possibly losing Mai for good.
Akio leans himself into Kaoru's side to which he puts an arm around the other. He turns his face away from Mai and into Kaoru's torso. He tries to push down his tears of worried fear for the only female of the three of them.
The female that has become their sister during their time down here.
Kaoru turns his focus to Akio as he can't look at Mai for much longer. He doesn't want to lose family as it stings a lot worse than his wound does. He guesses that Akio must be feeling it even worse than he is since Akio and Mai have been together longer than Kaoru has been here. He will do everything he can for Akio through this difficult time. It's the least that he can do for his new brother, as well as the least he can do after Mai laid her life down to say no to killing them even if it meant she would have freedom.
The two boys glance up as they hear some sort of commotion going on above them. They could swear that it sounds like some kind of fight is going on. They look to each other wondering what in the world is going on up there. They both jump at the loud sounds of some gunshots firing from the floor above them.
Akio's trembling form presses closer to Kaoru who keeps an arm around the other male. His eyes closed tightly in fear of what could be happening and what might happen to them afterwards.
Kaoru keeps his gaze upwards to the floor above them. He can't help but get his hopes up that maybe this is it.
Maybe this nightmare will finally be over and they will be rescued.
Kaoru does try to supress it as there is no way that it could be true… Right?
Perhaps the man is just taking out whoever entered the home or whatever this building is then he will kill them because the place has been found.
Kaoru lowers his gaze to Akio deciding to not say anything about his thoughts of what might happen to them. He instead puts his focus into trying to comfort Akio in what could be their last moments together if the man does come back to kill them.
Things above them quiet down leaving an eerie silence.
The two males jump when there is the sounds of someone trying to open the door before seemingly giving up.
Kaoru almost wants to cry out that they are there only for his mind to remind himself that it could have been the man checking that the door is locked. He tenses, as does Akio, when just a little later the door is unlocked. He keeps his gaze on the direction of the entry way waiting knowing that there is nothing that they can do if it is the man who has come back to kill them.
