AN: Hello and welcome back my fellow readers and what's followers I may still possess due to my extended absence. It's been a long while. Not much has changed, still busy with work and being trying to be the best husband and father that I can be while trying to get my stories typed up. Sleep deprivation and work making it hard to do so plus I am planning to be moving soon, so let's add that to my issues. Plus, not going to lie, got scammed by my friends hacked account so lost a lot of money that has hurt me so I am trying to fix that. Still hard to do that as the main working person but I'm doing my best. Thank you all for your patience and understanding and I hope to rectify your long wait with this new chapter! Enjoy!
Chapter 4
Naruto has just walked into the duelist waiting area with a grin on his face. "Man that was a fun duel. Plus, he got to be the first to face ace of my deck."
As Naruto entered the room, he took note of Yusei arming his duel disk with his deck.
"Hello Naruto," Yusei greeted with a smile that got a nod in return from Naruto. "I must say, that was an amazing duel you had out there."
"Thank you," Naruto replied as he got some water from the dispenser on the wall. "I felt it was time for me to really play to my deck's strengths. But don't worry, I got some tricks waiting just for you."
Yusei chuckled as he looked to the smirking young duelist. "I bet that you do, Naruto."
"The next up to duel will Akiza Izinski and Wolfe Altair!" the announcer cried out as both beautiful women walked out. Both locked each other with a serious gaze.
Both Yusei and Naruto looked towards the screen wordlessly. While Yusei looked concerned and interested, Naruto had a look of contempt and intrigue.
'The wielder of Black Rose Dragon and that Arcadia Movement girl Wolfe,' Naruto thought as he watched. 'Both enemies for different reasons altogether. One with a Signer Dragon and the other is a powerful duelist trying to get me in that damn movement.'
Naruto paid close attention when both beautiful women entered the duel field, both having a focused look on their face.
"You ready for this Akiza," Wolfe said with a smirk as she activated her duel disk. "I'm about to take you for a high speed ride."
Akiza just returned the smirk with her own and activated her duel disk. "I'm going to actually enjoy this match Wolfe. Bring it on!"
"Duel/Duel!" They both said.
"I'll go first if you don't mind!" Wolfe began as she drew her card. "I'll start revving the engines with F.A. Sonic Meister in Attack mode!" The monster appeared while staring Akiza down. "And don't forget that he will gain 300 Attack points for each of his levels."
F.A. Sonic Meister LV 4 Machine, ATK: 0 DEF: 1800
F.A. Sonic Meister LV 4 ATK: 01200= 1200
"And I'll end my turn by laying down two facedowns. Your move Akiza."
"Let's see, what shall I do?" The red head replied as she drew her card. "I'll start my turn by playing my Wall of Ivy in Defense mode!"
Wall of Ivy LV 2 Plant, ATK: 300 DEF: 1200
"And now I'll play the Spell card Seed of Deception, allowing me to Special Summon Phoenixian Seed from my hand to the field in Defense mode."
Phoenixian Seed LV 2 Plant, ATK: 800 DEF: 0
"Also by releasing my Phoenixian Seed, I can summon a new monster to the field in its place. My Phoenixian Cluster Amaryllis!" The monster appeared as it screeched.
Phoenixian Cluster Amaryllis LV 8 Plant, ATK: 2200 DEF: 0
' Akiza isn't playing around here,' Wolfe thought with slight worry. ' She's aiming to take me out quick.'
"In an almost seemless play, the Black Rose has summoned a powerful monster and a wall," the announcer yelled into his mic. "But will Wolfe find a way to counter and run over that field of flowers?!"
" Phoenixian Cluster Amaryllis, attack her F.A. Sonic Meister!"
"I'm going to activate my facedown Spell card, F.A. Downforce," Wolfe countered as the Spell card flipped over. "This card will now add two levels to my Sonic Meister, which will give him an extra 600 ATK due to my monster's special ability."
F.A. Sonic Meister LV 42=6 ATK: 1200 600= 1800
"Let's also not forget that his other effect will activate since I activated an F.A. Spell, which will give my monster another which will in turn make him stronger."
F.A. Sonic Meister LV 61= 7 ATK: 1800 300= 2100
"That still won't be enough to stop my attack," Akiza said as her monster destroyed Wolfe's. "And now that she has destroyed your monster, her ability will activate. When she destroys one of your monsters, my flower will self-destruct and hit you for 800 points of damage.
Wolfe- 4000- 100= 3900
Phoenixian Cluster Amaryllis screeched loudly before it exploded as debris rushed at a calm Wolfe.
Wolfe- 3900- 800= 3100
"Now I'll end my turn by laying down two facedowns," Akiza said. "And at the end of my turn, Phoenixian Cluster Amaryllis returns to the field in Defense mode to keep my Wall of Ivy company."
(Akiza- 2 facedowns, 1 card in hand, 2 monsters)
Alright then, I'm up," Wolfe exclaimed as she drew her card. "And I'll get us revved up by summoning F.A. Hang on Mach in Attack mode. And like the others, he gains 300 Attack for each of his levels."
F.A. Hang on Mach LV 4, Machine ATK: 0 DEF: 1800
F.A. Hang on Mach LV 4 ATK: 0 1200= 1200
"Now I play my Spell card, Terraforming! This will allow me to add a Field Spell from my Deck, straight to my hand and I am going to use it right away. F.A. City Grand Prix!"
A race track formed around them with all kinds of twists and turns appeared around buildings.
"This Field Spell will give my F.A. Hang on Mach an extra two levels along with a power boost. This will also activate his ability to give himself an extra level because I activated my Field Spell, making for a total of three extra levels."
F.A. Hang on Mach LV 43= 7 ATK: 1200900= 2100
"Now my monster is going to run over yours. F.A. Hang on Mach, go on and attack Phoenixian Cluster Amaryllis." The monster moved at blurring speeds before ramming into the plant, destroying it. "I will also end my turn by laying down a facedown card."
(Wolfe- 1 monster, 1 Field Spell, 2 facedowns, 1 card in hand)
"The duel has been pretty routine so far," the announcer said as everyone watched on the edge of their seats. "Makes you wonder which one will go off and take complete control of this duel!"
Akiza wordlessly drew her card, staring down the field as she thought over her strategy. 'Due to F.A. Hang on Mach being a level 7, it's other effect that banishes any card that goes to my graveyard is now in play. Plus this field spell protects it from being targeted and she has two unknown facedowns.' Looking at the card she drew made her smile at the card. 'Perfect!'
"While being at the races is nice and all, but I prefer a more organic setting so I'll have to tear it down and play my own field spell. A Field Spell like my Black Garden!"
The racetrack began to break down and fall apart as different vines and black flowers surrounded the duelists and took over the field.
"Now with that out of the way, I can now activate my Spell card Fragrance Storm, of course after activating my facedown Trap card, Ivy Shackles to turn every one of your monsters into a Plant type monster!"
"Damn, not this strategy again!" Wolfe grumbled as she watched wines wrap around her monster."
"That's right! Now with the power of Ivy Shackles out of the way and active, I will use the strength of Fragrance Storm. I'll destroy my Wall of Ivy to reap the benefit of Spell!"
A storm of petals raced around her monster before it was destroyed, but not before a light landed on Wolfe's field.
"Also since my Wall of Ivy was destroyed, it leaves an Ivy Token on your side of the field. While I get to draw a free card from my Deck. "
Ivy Tolen LV 1 Plant ATK: 0 DEF: 0
When Akiza drew her card, she couldn't help but smile as she drew a Plant type monster; meaning she was able to draw again. "Now I activate my other facedown card, Cursed Ivy to allow my Wall of Ivy to bloom back to the field in Defense mode."
Vines shot from the Trap card before landing on the field as Wall of Ivy rose back onto the field. "Also since a monster was summoned to my field, you get a Rose Token blossoming onto your field."
Rose Token LV 2 ATK: 800 DEF: 800
"Now I activate my spell, Mark of the Rose to gain control of your F.A. Hang On Mach." A rose tattoo appeared on the monster's bike before it appeared and drove onto Akiza's field. "Now I'll sacrifice F.A. Hang on Mach to summon Rose Tentacle in Attack mode!"
Rose Tentacle LV6 ATK: 2200 DEF: 1200
"And without another monster summoned onto MY field, another Rose Token will bloom onto YOUR field. Next I will switch my Wall of Ivy to Attack mode. Now I attack one of the Rose Tokens with my Wall of Ivy."
"What could she be thinking," the announcer and Naruto questioned as Wall of Ivy rushed at the Rose Token. " Wall of Ivy's Attack points are lower than the tokens, meaning it's going to be clipped down!"
Just as the announcer said, Wall of Ivy was destroyed by the tokens, doing Akiza some damage.
Akiza 4000-500= 3500
But as before, a light appeared from the Cursed Ivy trap before it flew to Wolfe's field, creating two more Ivy Tokens.
With Naruto
Naruto watched closely as he watched Akiza filling the field, taking control of the duel. He watched as Akiza destroyed each Ivy Token doing battle damage and a double dose of burn damage.
"So she not only has control," he said softly watching each attack. "She has destructive attacks and more annoying for me is all the burn damage that she can dish out. I'll need to figure out a way around that so we can crush her and her Black Rose Dragon."
As he said that, he heard a growl of hatred coming from his Extra Deck. Hearing the slight feminine tone to the growl made Naruto looked towards his cards with concern.
It wasn't like the specific monster was a threat to him or anything, it was more like she was usually more caring than the rest of his other monsters to the point she rarely ever angry. He could practically taste the rage of his beast at the mere thought of the Black Rose Dragon.
" Just you wait Black Rose Dragon," the voice said in anger as it felt its rival hit the field from its powerful roar. " I am going to enjoy watching as your petals fall and die like a wilting flower."
Naruto nodded as he watched Akiza revive her dragon after Wolfe destroyed it with a Spell card. He hummed before he left, having pretty much figured out how the Black Rose dueled.
And from what he has seen do far, it will a very difficult duel for him.
'I would stay for the rest of the duel,' Naruto thought as he turned and walked down the hall. 'But it seems to be coming to an end and I honestly need to get something to eat.'
As Naruto made his way to the vendors, most of which were open even during the duel matches.
Catching the scent of the delicious food and treats, he smiles as he made his way, taking note of how empty the area was.
Except for the girl, Luna, who was digging around in her pockets in front of a waiting vendor.
'I can't find my wallet," Luna said in distraught as she emptied out her pockets. "Unless…oh right! I lent it to Leo and he didn't give it back to me yet!"
"Well I'm sorry missy but no money, no food," the vendor, a pudgy man wearing a brown beat and blue fedora apologized
Luna put her food down in disappointment as her stomach growled from hunger. "I understand, I will just have to run back to my brother to get my wallet." 'I just hope the line won't form too long before I can get back.'
"How much was it?" Naruto asked the vendor, getting both his and Luna's attention.
"It was $13.97," the vendor replied as Naruto walked up to the counter.
Pulling out his wallet as he nodded and looked at what he said, Naruto grinned happily. "Can you add two corndogs and a large coke to that order please? I'm going to pay for both her's and mine order."
The man nodded as he swiftly added to Luna's order, glad to see such a nice young man willing to help the troubled girl.
"No wait, you don't have do that!" Luna said, trying to discourage the blonde haired boy from wasting his money on her.
Naruto gave Luna a small smile that made Luna blush and find her shuffling feet very interesting. "I know that I don't have to, but I want to." He paid the vendor who told them that their order will be ready in a few minutes.
Thanking the man, Naruto grabbed his drink along with passing Luna's hers, who thanked him quickly. Nodding, Naruto took a sip before looking back towards Naruto. He found the fact that she was nervous, kind of cute.
"How have you been doing since you duel?" Naruto asked in a bit of concern. Hoping there wasn't any lasting damage from what that professor guy tried to do to her.
"Oh I am alright," Luna replied, blushing again at his concern. "Nothing happened because of it or anything. Thank you for asking."
"Its fine, no reason to thank me," Naruto waved it off with a smile. "I am glad to hear that you are doing better and there was no last side effects to whatever that wack-job did to you."
"I also want to thank you for being there and helping me," Luna said with a smile, but her blush fading just slightly. "You barely know me, but you were there to help me. Not only that, but you even paid for my lunch today too."
"Again, it was my pleasure and I'm glad to be of some help," Naruto replied. "I have to say, your deck is interesting. You don't see too many decks utilizing Sunlight Unicorn due to how difficult it is to synergize with her ability. You did pretty well and I would have loved to see your full strength without manipulation."
"I don't know about that," Luna replied as she looked down in embarrassment. "I'm not really all that good at dueling to be honest. The duelist who is better would he my brother as he is the duelist between us."
"That's the one I dueled the other day, right? Mr. Crossdresser definitely had some skill, he just needs to be more careful with his plays. But I can tell that you are selling yourself short, Luna as I can tell you are just as talented. The love you have for your cards was blinding and easy to tell. Honestly, I hope to one day get a chance to have a match with you."
"I don't think so," Lu a replied nervously as she looked at the table. "Your cards would take mine apart with no effort. Plus your skill far out-does my own, no problem."
"Again, I wouldn't be so sure as I can tell that you have a lot of skills and untapped potential to go far. The only thing stopping is your own self-confidence as that will damper your skills as a duelist. I could just tell that you're an exceptional duelist Luna, I mean you did get an invite to participate in this Fortune Cup."
Luna blushed a glowing red, while not wanting to look at Naruto's bright grin or his shining eyes. 'That was so sweet of him to say,' she thought to herself.
"Young man," the vendor called out getting the two duelists attention. "Your order is ready."
Naruto nodded as he got up and collected their food from the counter. Naruto was confused though by the teasing smirk on the pudgy man's face.
Handing Naruto the food, the vendor leaned in and whispered to where only he could hear. "Smooth kid, you have her eating out of the palm of your hands over there. Good job." He then gave the blonde youth a thumbs up.
Naruto tilted his head to the side in confusion, not getting what the vendor was implying. "I'm sorry, but I don't get what your trying to say. I am only being nice to her."
"I am sure you will understand someday young man," he chuckled at the young man. "Now go on and eat your food with her before it gets cold. Good luck and go get her kid!" He chuckled and grinned before going back and cleaning his work station for the next customers.
Shrugging his shoulders, Naruto picked up the tray of food and made his way to Luna, handing the young girl her meal. She murmured a 'thank you' shyly that made the blonde chuckle lightly at how cute she seemed.
The two ate in relative silence, Naruto because he was enjoying the peace while Luna was nervous and blushing when looking at Naruto.
'Come on Luna!' she yelled to herself mentally. 'Just talk to him; ignore how cute he is when he grins like that!' Realizing what she just thought, her eyes went wide as her entire face imitated a ripe tomatoe
Luckily for her, Naruto did not notice as he was lost in conversation with his deck.
"Young Master, we should be getting ourselves ready to face against the Signer Dragons," Naruto heard the feminine voice of Dark Star Pheonix. "Who knows when the next dragon will be our opponent. As much as I loathe to admit it, they are all very powerful and will cause us all some major problems."
'I understand Pheonix, but no point in rushing things,' Naruto replied mentally. 'Considering the tournament, I am bound to duel against one of the Signer Dragons eventually. And I have a feeling that it will be sooner rather than later.'
Naruto felt the monsters in his deck agree with him, but he could still feel their need and want to just hunt down the Signers along with their pet dragons. Their hatred for the servers of the Crimson Dragon was almost tangible. Out of all of them, one aura came from the deck box on his waist that dwarfed all of the auras of rage released so far. Even the powerful aura of Dark Star Dragon could not compare to this one as Naruto actually became light headed from the power.
In fact, all of the decks monster's auras died down in an instant as this one grew stronger. Naruto began to gain a massive headache as he heard a loud roar in his mind, a roar so powerful that his mind felt like it rattled. He felt his head heat up as the power flowed through his body at a fast rate causing him to mentally yell at it to calm down.
Luna looked towards her lunch mate as she felt the pulse of power that flowed through Naruto. She felt a bit sick as she could practically taste the malice from his deck. Like before, she knew his was filled with hate, but for what reason she didn't know. As she looked to the deck, a powerful pulse of emotional hate that was stronger than it was before and it felt like it was coming for her. It felt like the hatred was directed at her and it was suffocating. She felt like she had trouble just getting a small puff of air through her lungs. She was so focused on breathing, she didn't notice the tingle or glow from her right arm as her Mark of the Crimson Dragon appeared.
A slight veil of light covered her body, blocking out the dark feelings that attacked her, even hearing a light yet powerful roar echo in her mind. But as quickly as all this took place, it all quickly vanished like it never happened.
Luna looked around, confused about what she has just experienced. None of it made any sense to her. 'What happened?' Luna thought to herself as she tried to figure out where that protective layer came from. She instantly looked at Naruto's deck, taking note of how the malice from his deck vanished and seemed to be calm again.
Naruto, having not noticed the glow due to being preoccupied in his thoughts, looked towards Luna in worry. "Are you alright, Luna?" he asked the female twin.
The green haired girl snapped out of her thoughts and looked at the concerned Naruto, a light blush of embarrassment on her cheeks. "I'm so sorry for getting lost in thought like that!" she replied hastily. "Just a bit overwhelmed with the whole tournament and all. I mean, I'm ok and everything but a lot has happened in the last few days alone."
Naruto looked at Luna with a gentle smile as he could understand how she was feeling at the moment. "Yeah, I get you," he replied gaining the girl's attention. "Honestly, my life has been one big event after another. Sometimes I feel like I'm just going to be swallowed completely while trying to sort through it all. Constantly being on the move, I get the opportunity to learn so much whole seeing new things, but at the same time I miss out on connections and more."
Luna gazed into Naruto's blue eyes, feeling concern for her lunch companion. 'His eyes, they look so sad,' she thought to herself. 'What could have happened to you Naruto to give you such sad eyes.' The few times they have talked, he seemed to be such an upbeat guy.
"Well, I should be going now," Naruto said as he smiled at Luna, who looked disappointed at him leaving. "I need to see who I will be dueling tomorrow and get ready to take them down. Going to have some powerful opponents to duel against and I need to prepare for it."
"Do you mind if I walk with you?" Luna asked shyly. "I mean if you don't mind that is! I figured since we will be heading in the same general direction it wouldn't be too bad to have company." Her rambling was interrupted by Naruto's chuckling as he held his hand out to her.
"I would love the company if your ok with it," Naruto smiled as Luna took his hand and helped her stand. They proceeded to throw out their trash and made their way out.
The two talked to each other but whatever they could, their likes and dislikes. Favorite type of cards. Both even had a common route of not knowing what they wanted as a life goal other than Naruto wanting to be a well-known duelist.
Both had a big smile on their face as they conversed before an announcement went out calling all duelist to the duel field to find out about their opponents for the Quarter-Finals.
Naruto felt disappointed and having to end his conversation with Luna since he was having a lot of fun. He gave his new friend a sad smile that she took notice of. "Sorry Luna, Mr. Pomperdeme calls," Naruto said as Luna smiled say at Naruto, knowing he had to go. "We will hopefully talk soon, I got a duel to win. Cheer for me Luna!" He waved and ran off down a different hallway path, with Luna waving back saying "she will".
Naruto quickly made his way outside in time to see that everyone was waiting for him. They all looked his direction, but he ignored them and walked up to the group.
"Now that young Naruto has arrived," the announcer said. "The first duel of the Quarter-Finals is Yusei Fudo vs Commander Koda! Meaning the final duel of the day will be Akiza Izinski vs Naruto Uzumaki!"
The final duel announcement got everyone's attention, causing many to be concerned for Naruto. A child no older than thirteen years old was about to duel against The Black Rose, a dangerous opponent that can make her monsters come to life!
Naruto on the other hand felt excitement as this was the whole reason he joined the tournament in the first place. He knew Akiza possessed Black Rose Dragon which meant he had a chance to finally go against one of the Legendary Signer Dragons. He wasn't the only one as Naruto could feel his Deck's malice at finally getting some payback.
Naruto and Akiza left the field as Yusei and Koda took to their sides of the field, into the duelist waiting area. Both watched as the duel commenced, with the first two turns being used as set up.
The blonde haired boy turned his gaze towards Akiza who looked from the screen towards Naruto who was leaning on a wall. A look of indifference in her eyes, but Naruto could make out hints of sadness and concern. He could even see the loneliness in her, a pit of loneliness that he recognized clearly as he sees it everyday in the mirror. It was crystal clear to him, even if she tried to hide it away.
'She is definitely going to be a tough opponent,' Naruto thought to himself as he returned his focus to the duel. 'We are going to have to come out swinging right out the gate to gain a foothold. Can't let Akiza gain that hold first or she will turn me into fertilizer for her cards.'
Naruto once again looked back to the duel to see Koda had put Yusei into a bind as he summoned a monster known as the Mad Profiler. The monster was strange to the blonde, but the effect was definitely dangerous.
As Naruto focused on the duel, he felt a pair of eyes locked to his back and turned to find that it was Akiza. "May I help you?" he asked the beauty.
"Look, I'm going to be frank with you," she replied after a moment. "You really need to surrender before our match begins. I have nothing against you, but this duel will put your back on the floor as I won't hold anything back against you. Child or not."
"Thanks for the concern," Naruto replied with a smirk. "But I think I am going to stuck around and be sure to give you one hell of a duel."
"I think that is a poor decision," she replied but Naruto merely crossed his arms.
"Yeah, well it's mine to make."
"You don't understand!" she yelled out. "I have psychic powers and can make my cards real. You could, no will, get hurt. Seriously hurt."
"Well, then it will definitely get my blood pumping," he said. "Especially since now that I know you're a Psychic Duelist, it just makes me want to duel you more." Akiza was about to reply, but was stopped by Naruto continuing.
"Keep in mind Akiza, I have traveled all around; despite my young age. I have had to duel a number of people, some of them being Psychic Duelists too. So I am used to dealing with people and their unsavory antics. And I promise to prove it to you in our duel."
Akiza looked at Naruto in shock, unsure of what to say. He's like thirteen and he's been traveling the world? What about his parents? And he's also dueled Psychic Duelist before? Where at? Maybe they can join the movement!
Before she could say something, Naruto already left as Yusei was announced the winner of his duel.
Looking away from the duel as the remaining monsters faded away, Naruto looked towards Akiza and smirked at the red-haired woman. "Well, are you coming or not? If your late, you may be disqualified."
This snapped Akiza from any thoughts and made her way to the field in the other direction, this way she would end up on the other side of the field.
As Naruto made it to the entrance, he ran into Yusei who stopped him. He looked closely at Naruto, who looked back at him.
"Are you sure about this Naruto?" Yusei asked him. "Akiza is not only a strong duelist, but a very dangerous one too. If you go out there, then you can get seriously injured."
"There are always risks," Naruto replied, slightly touched that Yusei was concerned for his safety but refused to lose this chance. "Look I am not the type of person to back down from a challenge despite the dangers, but I do appreciate your warning." Yusei nodded knowing that nothing he said will change the young duelists mind.
"Just be careful out there," the Satalite said. Naruto nodded knowing that nothing he said would stop him.
'This is it,' he thought to himself. 'My first duel against a holder of a Signer Dragon and she's a Psychic Duelist. Not sure if she is a Signer or not, but that doesn't matter.'
"The last match of the Quarter-Finals!" The announcer yelled into his mic with enthusiasm. "The Black Rose- Akiza Izinski vs The Tiny Darkness- Naruto Uzumaki!"
The crowd was a mix between boos and cheers, the boos for Akiza while they cheered for Naruto.
'I swear I am going to kill that damn announcer when I get my hands on him!' Naruto growled mentally as he activated his duel disk.
Akiza followed by silently activating her red one with a focused expression.
"Duel/Duel!"
"I will start us off if you don't mind," Akiza said as she drew a card. "I will begin this duel by playing the monster known as Evil Thorn on Attack mode!"
A plant of vines and a sharp bulb that dangled at the top rose onto the field.
Evil Thorn LV 1 Plant, ATK: 100 DEF: 300
"Now with this beautiful plant on the field, I can utilize its effect to tribute itself and deal you with 300 points of damage. I can't attack on the first turn, so I feel this would be a good trade-off. Go Evil Thorn!"
The sharp bulb of the vine grew and bulged before the entire monster self-destructed. Hundreds of little thorns rushed at Naruto who raised his arms to protect himself from the onslaught. He felt the thorns stab or cut him, causing him to groan in pain.
Naruto- 4000- 300= 3700
"Also, due to its tribute, two more Evil Thorns will now take the place of the one I just got rid of!"
Evil Thorn LV 1 Plant, ATK: 100 DEF: 300
Evil Thorn LV 1 Plant, ATK: 100 DEF: 300
"Next, I'll play the Spell Card, Closed Plant Gate! Now because I have two Plant type monsters with the same name on my field, you cannot conduct your Battle Phase on your turn." As she spoke, vines grew around her two monsters, protecting them and her from all sides. "I lay two more cards facedown and end my turn."
