Fate Whispered to the warrior 'You cannot withstand the storm' and the warrior whispers back 'I am the storm'

The sun blasted down on the crew of the straw-hats. Each doing their things, Usopp, chopper and luffy sat on the rails fishing, thanks to the hole-in-stomach rubber man they had ran out of food and where attempting to catch for more. Zoro sleeping with his swords at his side leaning against the wooden rail, while sanji cooked in the kitchen, making food out of whatever was left in the sparse kitchen. Nami and vivi relaxing on sun chairs, the pair peering over sea charts as they slowly made their way over to their destination, the kingdom of Alabasta.

Usopp squinted, spotting something floating in the distance. Pulling his goggles down for a better view of the strange sight, he stared intently before brown eyes widening in shock as finger tips uncurl from the fishing rode in surprised, the clattering sound for the rode hitting the deck snapping him into action. "Guys!" he yelled in panic gaining the crews attention, even Zoro cracked a lid. "There's someone floating on the water!"

Everyone rushed over to the side, looking out in the vase sea. The figure was unconscious, half draped over a semi burnt plank of wood, long black hair spilled down her backside indicating that she was, in fact a woman. Sanji eyes turned to hearts, "A damsel in distress! I will save her!" he yelled before taking off his shoes and diving directly into the sea.

"Idiot" mumbled zoro choosing to return to his nap.

"Baka! What if she's an enemy" yelled nami her eyes darting to vivi and back. They were close, who knows who would attack them next.

"ShiShi, if she is we will beat her!" Luffy chuckled, before Nami snapped at him.

"That's not the point!"

Soon enough sanji came back aboard with the unconscious female. He lay her on the deck, allowing the crew to take a good look at the figure. Her hair was black tied in a messy high pony tail that reached her lower back, a few straids had fallen lose in whatever had cause the female to be floating in the sea. While her fringe cut straight along at her eyebrows and two long pieces at either side of her head, to frame her pale face.

She was dressed all in black. A black crop top with a turtle neck, skin tight that covered her chest and shoulder blades leaving her toned stomach bare. Her bottom half consisted of baggy - gispy like - pants with four armoured mental plates, two on either side. Layered in the fashion like a samurai. But most didn't notice that, some were draw to the black sheathed sword with pale blue marking tided to her waist that seemed longer than she was tall while others looked towards the gas mask covering the bottom half of her face. The mask values fluttered as air traveling in and out of the girl's lungs intaking that she was breathing. All in all the girls appeared was strange for normal standards – but wasn't that strange compared to some of the individuals currently aboard the ship.

Chopper came over to run his checks, "she's unconscious. Nothing major. But I don't want to remove the breathing mask just in case she needs it to breathe…. I never seem a mask like that before"

Everyone nodded before sanji came over to help room her into the infirmity. "Not you Sanji!" nami scowled at the perverted male. "Zoro you move her and look after her sword will you" she ordered.

Zoro growled something incoherent.

"What was that? You want me to increase your debt?" nami smirked, as the green haired male paled and did as told.

Kneeling down, he untied the sword from her waist and tried to pick up the sword only be met with resistance, "what the?" he grumbled, still trying to pick the sword which seemed to weight a ton.

"Hurry up what are you waiting for?" questioned nami giving him a confused look.

"I can't pick up her sword"

"Shitty moss head, I picked her up along with the sword she doesn't weight that much" countered sanji with a smirk growing on his face, "here let me show you how it's done"

The blonde moved over, attempting to pick on the sword that didn't want to move. "Huh, strange…" he grumbled the blade not bugging.

"Move aside! Let me, I once won the world strongest man competition against the giants!" usopp pushed the blonde aside, with a grunt he….

Face-palmed the wooden deck the sword having pulled him down instead of the correct way.

"I want a try!" Luffy yelled, wrapping a rubber arm around the sheath and handle. They watched in surprised as the blade lifted from the decking, "what the hell!" everyone exclaimed dropping to the deck.

Luffy laughed swinging the sword still sheath about, "shishi! It's not that heavy!"

"No messing about! put it by the rail!" nami yelled snacking the male across the man.

-Time skip-

The women drifted back into consciousness, panic ran though her as she realised that she was no longer drifting in the sea, had she been caught? Was she still trapped? Slowly she felt the bed below her, the sheets on top. She breathes out slowly, the values on her mask fluttering in the wind she caused.

She opened her eyes, only for light to blind her. Once her sight fully returned the women sat up; surveying the room she had woken up in, dark hair falling over her shoulder as she took in the details. It seems she was in some form of infirmly. She didn't recognise the room which she was hoping was a good sign. Maybe some strangers had picked her up instead of the things she feared. "Ah you're awake!" a childlike voice called.

Her eyes turned towards the door stood a... she blinked, a thing? she wasn't sure what it was – but it looked like a small creature wearing a pink hat in-between some horns? Antlers? The creature looked fluffy and animal like but walked on two legs. Devil fruit maybe? She had seen many strange things in her time on the grand line and the fact it spoke lead to it being caused by a devil fruit. "Ah, stay there! I need to make sure you're okay" the child like creature stated closing the door behind it.

The child sounded male, so she was going to presume that the strange creature was in fact male. She nodded as he came over serval items of medical equipment in his… hooves?

Definably a devil fruit.

"Hi, I'm tony tony chopper. The doctor of this ship, you can call me chopper!" the small creature commented. Looking closer she noticed that the creature had a small blue nose. Cute, she thought internally, "what's your name?"

She considered not answering for a moment, before deciding that he didn't seem to bad and now that the doctor had introduce himself, she could confirm that she was no longer trapped. She didn't know anyone of that name in the world government and he didn't look like a slave… thought she wouldn't let her guard down not just yet. "Dawnya, please call me dawnya"

"Hai! Dawnya, everything looks goo-"

"Where's my sword?" she cut him off her breathing increasing, finally noticing the lack of her blade by her slide.

"Ah, its outside with our swordsman, he's looking after it" chopper stated innocently, watching the girl rapid breathing increase.

She got up on shaky legs ignoring the small doctor protests against her moving around too much. The door swung open, giving her a clear view of the deck. The sun was high in the sky, sea spread out on all sides. The flags presented high above was a jolly roger. A grinning skull with a straw hat.

She was on a pirate ship.

Though she didn't recognise the roger; It wasn't the worse place she could have landed on, moreover she didn't know that pirate flag from any of the stories of her fellow comrades in chains. She felt a hand come towards as it shifted in the air. Dunking under it turning towards the culprit. It was a male with a long nose, his eyes widened in surprise at the sight of her. Dawnya ignored the male, her eyes darting about the deck for her sword. She needed her sword, the wind around them started to pick up as the doctor emerged out of the door behind her, her heart beating rapidly against her ribcage. She was in a foreign place without her toburtori, without her flying bird. The thought alone was sending her into a panic. "Wait! Dawnya, I know you may be scare-"

"I am not scared"

"But I need you to calm down" chopper spoke worryingly - earning the crew on deck attention.

She jumped over the railing, bare feet making no noise as landed lighty on the wooden deck. Eyes still scanning for her beautiful sword, her tobutori.

There! Her black and blue sword still in its scabbard, leant against the rail besides a sleeping swordsman, on his other side lay three shorter swords. She didn't question the three other blades instead going for her own Nodachi. Shaking fingers wrapped around the covered blade, she let out a sigh of relief. And only when she had hooked it back onto her hip, the long blade lying across her body like a cross; did she questioned why the swordsman had three swords and why did he have green hair?

She let out a deep breath to calm herself and her raging heartbeat, as the panic clouding her thoughts subsided.

She no longer felt bare, with the weapon by her side. Her tobutori, her flying bird.

"Dawnya!" the small creature yelled running up to her.

"I'm okay don't worry" she stated patting the small creatures' pink hat.

"Hey! A-are you-u an e-enemy?!" the long nose spluttered, dragging her attention from the worrying doctor.

"No, unless you make me an enemy" she deadpanned, face blank from most emotion.

"That's what an emery Would say!" he yelled, pointing at her accusingly. "she's an emery!"

She sighed, a hand resting on the tilt on her sword. She sat down, bum resting on her heels as she waited for the male to calm down. The long nose male yelling and panic that she was as an enemy, to those who cared to listen. Behind her she heard a scoff coming from the green haired male. "Usopp shut up, she's not an enemy yet. Use your eyes. If she is, we will throw her overboard"

"Much rather you didn't, I can't swim" she stated calmly, head slightly turned towards the swordsman, her eyes narrowed before closing them.

"You can't swim?"

Usopp looked towards the female, properly looked. She sat their silent – eyes closed as if waiting for him to stop panicking. Chopper darting about her nervously, while nami, vivi and luffy watched. Two had an interested but cautious expression while the other was thinking about food. "She doesn't seem like an enemy" mutter vivi.

Nami narrowed her eyes before walking forward, hitting usopp on the head, said male face-planting the wooden deck. "Baka! dawnya right? Why were you floating in the sea?"

"The boat I was on exploded, I been drifting for a while" she answered, before bowing down, hands on the wooden deck before her. "Thanks for bringing me aboard, I own you my life"

"Right," nami started in a tone of disbelief the navigator eyes narrowing. "I'm nami, that's vivi. The green haired man behind you is zoro. The one with a straw hat is luffy, the one shaking in fear is usopp and finally there's sanji he's in the kitchen. I see you been introduced to our doctor chopper."

She nodded, eyes opening as the ginger, nami, pointed to different people. Her eyes were a pale blue a colour of the sky on a sunny day. Though these held little light, they were quite dull as if the light been put out a long time ago. "If you don't mind, can we continue from before?" she responded with a nod her attention turning towards the small doctor.

"Do you have any breathing problem?" the fluffy creature, called chopper asked standing in front of her.

She shook her head, "then what with the breathing mask?" nami interrupted whatever chopper was going to say.

She cocked her head, "I breathe more easily with it on so to speak, I can take it off if it unnerves you but I rather not"

"Breath more easily? Like keeps you calm?" questioned vivi the blue haired lass, she nodded again.

"But what about water? You been in the sea, if the water got in you could have drowned?" usopp shuttered adding his input to the conversation.

"As soon as a large body of water comes into contact the filters automatically shuts, so I will not drown instead I would suffocate" she replied softly, despite the mask covering her face, her voice wasn't muffled at all. Usopp, nami and vivi shuttered in shock at her comment, and how easily it came out of mouth. To comment about one's death without even batting an eye lid at it.

"Guys will you stop interrupting my questioning!" moaned the doctor who wanted to make sure his new patient was okay!

"Agreed" a voice growled from behind her, "go take it somewhere else, trying to sleep here!"

"Shut up moss head! You can sleep thought anything, I don't see how a little talking going to keep you awake! Nami-chan!~ vivi-chan~!" another voice called as he came into view. It was a blonde this must be sanji, dawnya concluded. "I got your drinks, and some soup for our visitor!"

Sure, enough there was a ball of soup placed in front of the girl. She raised an eyebrow, "you didn't have to-" She started before she was cut off by the blonde, starling the raven-haired girl.

"Ah! Your voice is like silk~ and your eyes! I could fly though the sky if I fall into your eyes. Their beauty can't be questioned! May I know your name my queen? ~"

"Dawnya" she stated in monotone, slightly crept out by the man's behaviours. Yes, her eyes were a sky blue but the blonde didn't need to go overdramatic about it.

"Oi! shitty Cook stop it, your freaking her out! And eat you are to light" the swordsman growled.

"Moss head you shouldn't comment a woman on her weight!" growled the cooked, bring a leg up to kick the green haired male.

She shrugged uncaring about the comment, it was natural for her. "it's okay, I am natural a light. Hallow bones I believe…"

This caused nami and vivi to turn to her, as the swordsman and cook fought in the background ignoring her comment. "tell us your secret!" they whined, causing a small chuckled to escaped her lips a small spark of light reappearing in her eyes before they dulled again.

What a strange crew.

She felt a finger come towards her and she let it. No longer was she in her panic state and the finger belonged to someone curious she could feel it. The finger poked her masked. "It looks funny" a voice chuckled; it was the male with the straw hat. Luffy.

"Would you like to try it on while I eat?" she asked head tilted.

The boy nodded vigorously. There was a hissing sound as gas escaped from the mask, as she unhooked it from the base of her neck. Slowly and carefully she took the mask off before putting it over the hyperactive captain under the watchful eyes of the crew.

The captain laughed though the mask before jumping round the ship in a gleeful manner, with usopp casting him asking for a go. While she returned to the hot soup, she blew on it just as a gust of wind swept across the deck.

She froze momentarily before consuming the soup slowly, acting like nothing out of the ordinary had just occurred. As the crew watched their captain jumping about, one individual looked towards the sky, her brows furrowed in confusion. "That was strange…" muttered the ginger.

"What was?" questioned vivi.

"That gust of wind, it didn't seem normal"

"Seemed normal enough, and this is the grand-line" Vivi stated while looking at the sky. Nami shrugged turning her attention back to their newest companion. Who was still sat on the deck of the ship consuming the soup while chopper quizzed her.

"How you feeling? Headaches? Hungry? Thirsty?"

"I feel fine"

"Do you know how long you were at sea for?"

The female shook her head. Finishing the rest of the soup by drinking the condense and placing the bowl on the deck before her, hand instantly placing on either bent legs. The seiza position seemly natural to her "The soup was lovely, thank you"

Nami narrowed her eyes, something about the women seemed... off, she couldn't put her finger on it.

The blonde spun towards her, ending the fight with the swordsman. "It's a pleasure m'lady! Anything for an angle of the sky!"

"Angle of the sky?" the Raveonette questioned unsurely though her face was a blank canvas, honestly speaking she felt uncomfortable with the blue eye's blonde hair chef. What did he want? No one really ever talked to her like this before, she was a warrior. Someone to battle – not to give compliments – comments she didn't know how to respond to. It didn't help that she was no longer wearing her mask.

"Shitty cook, shut up" growled the swordsman.

"Moss head, say something?" glared the chef, she could feel the tension before the pair broke into another fight, legs and sword flying towards each other.

The ginger, nami rolled her eyes are they childish expressions. She watched dawnya, whose sky blue eyes followed luffy around the ship, with usopp and chopper following in pursuit. Nami's eyes narrowed, watched as the girl's fingers twitched and her breathing rate increase. The raven girl's words echoing in her ears, 'I breathe more easily with it on so to speak'

Dawnya watched as the male before her played wearing her mask. She wanted it back but didn't know how to ask, she bite her lip in an attempt to control herself. The thing is, the mask helped her in more than one way.

She didn't have the best time growing up, but during her time in hell she had been forced to eat a strange fruit, a devil fruit. She could feel the phantom pains of burning on her shoulder blades. The ripping sensations as something was painfully forced down her throat as her thoughts drifted to the past.

She hated the power forced apron her and hated those who forced it down her throat even more so. Her breath hitched as she felt the wind around them pick up. She was free, free she reminded herself as the winds began to died down again.

"Oi Luffy!"

A voice dragged her out of thoughts, "give dawnya her mask back you idiot!" the ginger yelled dragging the hyperactive captain back towards her sitting position.

Carefully she took the mask of the captain before returning it to its rightfully place on the lower half of her face. The captain sulked due to his play time being cut short while the ginger watched her carefully. "Hey chopper?" she called.

"yes?" the innocent creature responded.

"Come here for a moment?" the ginger left, vivi following along with chopper while the captain jumped about teasing his long nose companion. Dawnya watched amused at their childish antics, it was refreshing to watch as reality set it. That little spark of little lighting up in her eyes once more.

She was free.

Hopefully it would last.
