Jim in his troll-half form stumbles upon a strange door that takes him to another universe, where he encounters Hilda who has recently been turned into a troll and is trying to change back into a human. The two of them become friends as they try to return to being human and help both the trolls and the human citizens of Trolberg.

Trundle stomped through the smashed wall and looked at the startled and stunned citizens and Safety Patrol officers. For several seconds no one said anything, but then Ahlberg quickly recovered from his shock and ordered his troops to point the giant torch cannon at Trundle. Now Trundle could have stopped the cannon by ripping a chunk of the wall off and hurl it at the machine, but chose not to. Trundle wanted to get his fellow trolls angry at the humans and awaken Amma and the best to do that was to have himself be killed by the humans. This would cause a ripple of rage to go through the trolls and attack the humans. The humans would defend themselves and many trolls would fall to their hands. The deaths of the trolls would awaken Amma and force her act to save the trolls and destroy the humans and their city in the process.

"Victory requires sacrifice." Said Trundle to himself.

"Fire!" Yelled Ahlberg.

"NOOOO!" Cried Hilda.

The beam struck Trundle and instantly petrified him. The petrified statue of Trundle just stood there where both humans and trolls could see him. Then there was a loud cracking sound as cracks began to spread over Trundle's body. Trundle's petrified body couldn't handle it's own weight and he began to crumble to pieces! The Mountain King was dead! Shattered to bits!

The only part of him left was his big eye.

The trolls were shocked and angered by the death of their leader. They roared in anger and looked like they were about to charge. The Safety Patrol officers pointed the cannon at the trolls ready to fire agin.

"We have to put a stop to this!" Said Claire.

"I have an idea!" Said Hilda as she ran over to Trundle's eye and picked it up.

Hilda ran towards Ahlberg who wasn't paying attention and slammed the eye onto him and engulfed his head in the big orb. Ahlberg was taken to his mind and given a similar vision like the one Hilda experienced when her head was engulfed by the orb. He saw a giant stone version of his mother rise out of Trolberg and destroy the city in his vision. Ahlberg removed the eye from his head and looked horrified. He knew what he had to do.

"Stand down everyone! Let the trolls pass and head into the city!" Ordered Ahlberg.

The Safety Patrol officers blinked their eyes in confusion, but did as their leader commanded and step aside to let the trolls through. The trolls calmed down and looked at each other not sure what to make of this. Hilda approached the trolls and spoke.

"It's alright, we know what you want. Come reconnect with Amma."

This calmed the trolls and they began to enter the city, but then there was a terrible roar as the Void of No Return charged onto the scene and began to attack the trolls!
