Chapter 5 - Midnight Ecstasy

Kendra glanced at the clock positioned at the corner of her hotel room. It boldly read 1:11am. She sighed. Sleep had forsaken her on this particular night. Who could blame it? Her head was filled with all kinds of thoughts which made virtually impossible for her to welcome sleep. The agony.

She picked up her phone, got into her text messages and clicked on the contact she knew she really needed at that time. She only hoped the person hadn't fallen asleep already.

Hey, are you awake? - Kendra.

To be honest she wasn't really expecting any reply as she was convinced he'd had a busy day and needed some rest. Though she was proven wrong when he replied just a few seconds after.

Yeah sweetheart, I'm just in the bar with the rest of the guys, are you alright? - Curt.

She hated bothering him when he was out with other people. To her it seemed a bit clingy and she never wanted to be that kind of person.

Yeah, I'm alright. I just wanted to say goodnight. ;) - Kendra.

She was crestfallen but figured that she could manage it. 'I'll just try counting sheep, that works' She thought. But before she could put her phone all the way down she heard a buzzing sound and checked her inbox.

I'll be there in 20 minutes tops. - Curt.

Kendra smiled at the text. Can your best friend ever?

And true to his word, at the nineteen minute mark she heard a knock on her door and sprung out of bed to open it. There stood Mr. Perfect with a book and s bag in his hand wearing a wife beater and baseball shorts looking at his watch.

"And that was twenty minutes. Once again Mr. Perfect everyone" He said spreading out his arms gloriously as he did in the ring. Kendra giggled and gave a little clap.

"I'll only say this once. But that was perfect timing" She said as he greeted her with a kiss to the cheek.

"Sure, you know I'd do anything for my favorite girl. You weren't fooling anyone with that text. I know you better than you know yourself. It's the perfect knowledge"

"I'll ignore the perfect thing for now, thanks for coming though"

"Don't mention it." He said ruffling her hair as he made his way to her bed. "Now, you may have noticed some items in my possession"

"Yeah, I just figured out you'll tell me what they are." Kendra said propping down next to him. "You will tell me right?"

"Correctimondo. Now, lookie here. This is a phone book I swiped from Vince's office a while back. Nice huh? And these..." He said passing her the white bag. "...are for you. I figured that maybe you couldn't sleep because..." He scratched the back of his neck nervously as he was uncomfortable with these kinda topics. "...you know the ladies..." She smiled at his nervousness as she opened it to find a box of chocolates.

"That's really considerate of you Curt but I'm not on my period and probably won't be due for another two weeks. But I will keep the chocolates" She said putting them on her nightstand. "So, what's up with the phone book?"

"Oh come on, you really shouldn't be asking that question. Hello? Prank calls. This phone book has everyone's number in the company and I..." He pulled out a phone from his boot. "Have my trusty prank phone right here."

"Did you keep that there just to make a cool reveal?"

"Yes I did but you're missing the big picture babe, I'm talking prank calls here, I have over a thousand minutes here and I'm ready to make some magic happen. So what do you say?" Kendra gave it a thought for a few seconds and gave him an evil smirk.

"I say I like that. And I vote we start with Bob Holly" Curt laughed.

"He'll kill us both if he ever found out, you know that right?"

"No" Kendra said grabbing the phone book. "He'll kill you. He doesn't know who the hell I am so I'm safe. So start dialing"

"Whatever you say sweetheart" Curt said dialing up the number. "Shh, it's ringing"

"Hello" A very tired sounding Bob Holly said. Kendra almost felt guilty waking him up from sleep... almost.

"Am I speaking with Bob Holly from the World Wrestling Federation" Curt said giving a... well perfect impersonation of one of those annoying telemarketer voices.

"Yeah, and who the hell is this?" Bob asked in his usual pissed off voice. Kendra rolled her eyes. Sleep or no sleep Bob still remains pissed off at everything and anything.

"Language sir, I'd expect a man who just won fifty million dollars to have a more positive attitude" Kendra and Curt held in their laughter as they heard a thud sound from the other end which sounded like someone falling off a bed.

"Excuse me? Did you just say I won fifty million dollars?" Bob said his voice spiked with excitement. A bit out of character for him.

"Oh yes Mr. Holly. Fifty million dollars. We did a random search and it landed on you so congrats. You're now a millionaire!"

"Oh yes, finally! I always knew this would happen some day. Yeah that's right. Bob Holly, a millionaire, uh huh. Boom shiki boom shicka wooo!" Bob sand to himself. Kendra and Curt couldn't help it and erupted into fits out laughter with Bob still on the line. "Wait a minute. Hennig it's you isn't it? i swear when I get my..." Curt hung up on him as they continued laughing. Kendra hadn't expected it to get to the point that all so mighty Bob Holly would actually start singing out of joy. It was both frightening and humorous at the same time.

"That was hilarious. I think I'm up for another one. And I know exactly who to call" Curt said with an evil gleam in his eyes. Kendra raised an eyebrow as she checked out the number he was calling.

"Why Triple H?" She asked confused.

"You'll see. Now zip it, it's ringing" Curt said to her as they listened to the phone ring. Soon after Triple H picked up.

"Hello" He said in a weird voice. "Who's this? I'm kinda... yeah baby that's the spot" Kendra giggled as Curt motioned for her to quiet down. It was obvious Trips had a lady friend with him.

"It's Gary. And what the hell are you doing?" Curt said in a deep voice. 'How many voices did this guy have anyways?'

"Well Gary or whoever you are, I'm a bit busy so state your purpose quickly"

"I'm surprised you have forgotten me so soon" Curt said biting back a laugh. "Did our time together mean nothing to you?"

"What? Who is this?!" Kendra had to clamp her mouth shut to prevent her laughter from escaping.

"Holy shit Hunter, I never knew you were bisexual" A female voice said from the other end.

"Darling he's not bisexual, he's gay" Curt said compressing his own laughter.

"What the hell?" The lady said.

"Relax Casey, I'm straight. Damn straight. Straighter than the pole that went up that jackasses ass and obviously went to his brain because he is crazy" At this moment Kendra couldn't hold in her laughter anymore and let out a loud one nearly falling off the bed. Curt soon followed suit. "Wait a minute I know those laughs. Kendra! Curt Hennig! You guys are so..."Once again Curt hung up asthe laughter rolled right out of them.

"God that was funny" Kendra said in between laughs. "Though I completely respect the LGBTQ community"

"Amen to that. So you feeling inspired to do one of yours?" Curt asked as she nodded quickly grabbing the phone. "Who are you calling?"

"Mr McMahon." She said quickly dialing the number. Curt shook his head at her. "What?!"

"You like looking for trouble don't you?" She giggled.

"Who me? No. I'm as innocent as a... well I dunno but you should come up with... oh shit it's ringing"

"Yes, you're talking to a freaking billionaire, how may I help you?" Said Vince in his usual egocentric voice.

"It's time" Kendra said in a dark and gloomy voice.

"Time for what? What the hell are you talking about? It's not time for anything. Who the hell is this anyway?" That was Vince alright.

"It's time" Kendra repeated.

"I'll tell you what it's time for, it's time for you to go to hell because I will find you, track you and haunt you down asshole. No one dares call me and say that bullshit because I am Vincent Kennedy McMahon, a genetic jackhammer." At that point Curt and Kendra couldn't help but laugh out as Vince continued his rambling. "Oh it's a prank call huh? Well, make yourself known or I will unleash the Undertaker on you. Yeah he works for me alright."

"Alright fine. It's Curt Hennig" Kendra said as Curt's eyes widened which made her giggle.

"Curt Hennig you say? Come Monday night you're going one on one against the Undertaker in a no disqualification match. Goodnight" Vince said hanging up as Kendra let out an uncontrollable laugh falling off the bed.

"What the fuck was that Kendra?" Curt asked.

"Sorry Curt but he would've found out it was you anyways. I just sped up the time, you know" Kendra said with a laugh.

"I'm giving you till the count of five to run away as fast as you can cause if I catch you, I'll speed up your time!"

"You can't be serious Curt"

"One..." With that she dashed out of the room. "I'll get you Kendra. Eventually. But the thought of you wasting all that time running serves as revenge" He said to himself. "I think I'll take one of her bras too, that'll teach her" He said grabbing one from her box as he exited her room to start the chase.

Meanwhile Kendra kept running and running through the hallways but eventually came to a stop when she'd realized she'd gone far enough and stopped to catch her breath. What a run! She was still trying to catch her breath when she stumbled into someone.

"Whoa there, are you alright girl?" Steve Austin said in his familiar southern drawl.

"Oh yeah, I'm fine just fine" She said still panting.

"You don't look so good, here I have a bottle of water in case you..." She didn't wait for him to finish his statement before gulping the water. "...want any. Wow" He said as she let out a little giggle.

"Thanks. Sorry I..."

"No it's fine. So what's a pretty little thing like you doing running out in the hallways at this time of night?" Steve asked.

"Well, I was actually being chased by... oh shit, gotta run" She said spotting Curt a few meters away and took to her heels. "So, it was nice meeting you. Whoever you are! Weird" Austin said watching Curt dash past him as well. "I need a beer"

Curt was on her tail and she had no where to run to. Damn jackass was about to catch her. That is until she noticed a couple of elevators nearby. Jackpot. Without looking or thinking it through she pressed the button repeatedly and didn't even wait for it to open all the way before getting inside.

"Sayonara sucker!" She yelled out to him as the doors closed when he was inches away. She immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

"Going somewhere?" A voice said which almost made her heart jump out of her chest. She turned around to see none other than Shawn Michaels standing there. "Nice PJ's by the way" He said looking down at her tank top and sweat pants. She blushed slightly. "Hunter was right that is a nice color on you"

"Uh thanks" She said not really having anything in mind to say to him. The whole Sunny incident still felt fresh in her mind and she felt awkward talking to him after catching him in the act.

"Uh thanks? What happened to the Kendra I know who would have given me a sassy comment by now?" Shawn said a bit confused and amused.

"I just don't feel like it right now"

"Really, then at least have the courtesy to look me in the eye" Shawn said to her as she had not once looked him in the eye throughout their conversation. "Oh, I know what's going on" He said with a laugh. She looked up at him with a puzzled look.

"And what is that?"

"You still feel weird about the whole Sunny situation. You really shouldn't" Shawn said laughing. She rolled her eyes.

"Well it's not everyday you find out that your coworkers are having an affair. What do you expect me to do, sing and clap my hands in ecstasy?" She asked sarcastically.

"There's the Kendra I know. And I don't expect you to sing and dance but I do expect you to hear me out."

"Thanks but no thanks. After all it's not my business" She said. Shawn let out a chuckle. "Problem?"

"You're jealous" He said. Her heart began to race after she heard those two words. There's no way she could be jealous, hell it was practically impossible "Stunned you, didn't I?"

"Yeah right. In your dreams. Why would I be jealous? And why can't this elevator move any faster" She said rushing through her words. Shawn chuckled at her cuteness.

"Trying to change topics on me huh?" He said stepping closer to her. "I don't think so"

"No I'm actually serious, I don't think this thing is moving" She said taking some steps further backwards.

"Yeah right, what a good way to... oh shit you're right" Shawn said taking a look at the elevator buttons which didn't show any light as they were supposed to.

"This can't be happening. There must be something we can do" Kendra said quickly pressing some buttons as Shawn tried to use the emergency phone. "Shit why isn't this fucking thing working!" Kendra screamed as she gripped her hair.

"Calm down Kends" Shawn said as he failed to contact the hotel manager. "Dammit"

"Don't tell me to calm down Michaels, we're stuck here. Aren't we? Oh shit" She said as her breaths became faster. "This can't be happening. Kendra breathe" She said to herself trying to take deep breaths.

"Oh my God, you're claustrophobic aren't you?" He said coming to a sudden realization.

"No, you're even dumber than you look Michaels" Damn that hurt. "I have cleithrophobia. I hate being trapped." She said in an attempt to calm herself down by taking steady breaths. It wasn't working. "God you have to get us out of here Michaels, I can't breath I..." She suddenly started hitting the buttons trying to do something at the brink of having a full on panic attack.

Shawn watched her carefully. He remembered what Triple H told him about these kind of situations. You have to take the victim's mind off being trapped and there were two ways to go about it. Either he had to slap her or...

"God we are going to die! I'm too young to die!" She said about to break into tears. Fuck it. He knew what he had to do. While she was still trying to catch her breath, he suddenly grabbed her and pinned her to the wall. That sudden shock seemed to paralyze her for a few seconds as he did the most unexpected thing.

He kissed her.

And even though it kinda made him a dick to say this, but he enjoyed it. Kendra on the other hand, well...

"What the fuck? What the fuck? WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS JACKASS DOING?" She mentally screamed as she snapped out her paralyzed state and shoved him off her,

"Oh Kendra, I think it wor..." He stopped mid sentence as her fist brutally connected with his face. A close fisted punch. And boy it stung like hell. Silence filled the elevator except for the slow breaths coming from Kendra who was still caught up in a moment of confusion, shock but most of all rage. Shawn held his face still in astonishment that a woman as small as her could deliver such a blow. But she wasn't done there.

"You bastard! Why the hell would you do that to me?!" She screamed still filled with red hot anger. That anger was quickly replaced with fear as Shawn snapped his head at her not looking too pleased. "Oh shit! What did I do?! Shawn I... I didn't mean to I, I just..." She burst into tears as he made steps towards her. "Please don't" She pleaded as she closed her eyes and crouched down in fear.

Now Shawn was confused. Was she still having a panic attack? He didn't think so as she didn't mention anything about being trapped and her breath was somewhat stabilized. Then why was she acting like that? And wasn't he the one who should be doing the apologizing. So many unanswered questions.

"Hey, hey" He said helping her up as she looked at him with tear filled eyes. He also noticed she was shaking. She was definitely scared. But why? "It's okay" He said bringing her head to his chest as he wrapped his arms around her in a warm embrace and stroked her back gently in circular motions. "Don't apologize okay, I'm sorry for kissing you. I just wanted to... I thought it would calm you down" Shawn said.

"It did though. Turns out you're a genius after all. Who knew?" She said with a laugh. "Shawn"

"Yes sweetheart"

"Don't let go" She said a little bit above a whisper.

"Never" He said as he kept on rubbing her back. It was a nice ecstatic moment for them until they heard the elevator made a 'ding' and the doors opened. They quickly broke apart when they heard that sound. For good reason too as they were greeted by someone standing at the door.

Okay, I cringed a bit while writing parts of this chapter but there we have it. Chapter 5. Shawn and Kendra seem to be going through whatever the hell they are going through and someone saw them. Who was it? I don't even know yet.
