Chapter 7 - Here She Comes Now
2 Weeks Later
"Quit it Shawn, you're staring" Triple H said.
"I just can't help it" Shawn said with a dazed expression on his face.
"Well help it, I'm pretty sure she'll notice soon and it's gonna be an awkward situation"
"But, how awkward can it be. I mean just look..." Shawn said motioning over to the makeup stand where Sunny was getting hers done and Kendra sat on a crate close to the makeup stand working on some scripts as the two girls engaged in a conversation.
Quite frankly Shawn thought he fell asleep and woke up in hell.
"Uh, Kendra looks good a little sick though... Or is it Sunny you're looking at? I'm kinda lost" Triple H said.
"No look at them together. Talking. Socializing. They look like fucking besties and you don't think that's weird" Shawn said looking back at them as Kendra laughed softy at something Sunny said.
"So what, the girl you sexually assaulted and the girl you're banging are talking, big deal, I don't see anything there" Triple H said as Shawn gave him a glare. "What did I do?"
"Uh, everything. First off I didn't sexually assault Kendra..."
"Sure, and I'm fucking Randy Travis"
"Wait, you're fucking who?"
"I meant like I'm fucking like when you say fucking like... nevermind Shawn you're too old anyways" Triple H said taking a sip of water. "Good water"
"I will just ignore all that. So back to what I was saying. Secondly and most importantly? When did they get so chummy? Did I miss something?" Shawn asked with a seriously confused expression. He couldn't think of one reason why Sunny would go make friends with Kendra of all people. It was just weird no hate to Kendra but they just weren't supposed to get along.
"Relax Shawn, they're girls. It's only natural. If you're really curious how about we go over and say hi" Triple H said standing up as Shawn's eyes widened.
"Are you nuts Hunter? We can't just go over there!"
"Sure we can, it's actually really easy. You see it involves walking..."
"I know what walking is! And you go on your own. I'll just, go. Soon" Shawn said still keeping his eye on his two women. Wait no, Sunny is his only woman. Maybe he needed coffee of some sorts. Yeah coffee.
By the time he'd already gone through his coffee needs he noticed Triple H was already at the makeup stand engaging in a conversation with the girls. And at that very moment as if on cue, Kendra turned over to him and they locked eyes and he gave her a small smile. Almost immediately she looked back at Sunny not acknowledging him at all.
Yep that had been their song and dance routine for the past two weeks and Shawn had the courage to confront her. She'd either just blank him or walk away if she was at a twenty mile radius from her and he couldn't figure out why.
"Do you think it has anything to do with you kissing her outta nowhere?" A little voice in his head told him.
"Psshhh, no. I apologized and she was cool"
"And I suppose her being cool involves her avoiding you like the plague? Yeah she's really cool with it" The voice in his head with a lot of sarcasm. Was that really a reflection of him? "And besides you won't be bothered if you didn't like her, or do you?"
"That's preposterous. I only known for like what? Three weeks? Two of which she spent ignoring me if I might add but hey who's counting?"
"Shawn likes a girl, Shawn likes a girl..." The voice sang pissing him off.
"I do not!" He screamed out loud to the utter shock of Curt Hennig who had been trying to get his attention for a while now. "Oh hey man, I was just..."
"Oh yeah, I understand. I think..." Curt said subtly taking a few steps backwards. "...Vince asked for you by the way, that's what I've been trying to tell you for the past three minutes"
"Uh...okay. Sorry I was just thinking about something" Shawn said shaking his head a bit as if to shake off the thought. "I'll be right there"
"Okay cool" Curt said taking a look at Shawn who seemed to be out of it "Uh, is everything all right man, you seem off?"
"Uh yeah, I just... I..." Shawn said as he took a glance to the makeup stand and noticed Kendra had walked away. He cursed inaudibly. "...listen man I gotta go. I must find a way" He said walking away from Curt.
"Okay, sure." Curt said not knowing what else to say. "That's why I like being perfect, no crazy weirdness, yeesh." He said to himself. "Kends will definitely get a kick outta this, I wonder where that idiot is anyways?"

"...and you know what else, Vince has been on my neck about Austin. What are we gonna do with Austin? What's new with Austin? Why is Austin not even on the card two weeks after he won the King of the Ring? And what do I have to tell him huh?! HUH?!" Kendra cringed at the loud tone of Vince Russo who paced back and forth in his office looking distraught. "Well, aren't you gonna say anything?!"
"Uh, I'm done editing the scripts. I just came to drop them here" She said her voice lower than usual as she had been nursing a fever for the past couple of days.
"How the fuck does that help me?! I need ideas dammit!" He yelled once again.
"Oh really?" She asked with an amused tone as Vince gave her a glare. "What?"
"You think this is funny?!"
"Yeah pretty much" She said letting out a chuckle as he stopped his pacing and stood in front of her. "You expect me to come up with an idea and take all the credit once again?"
"Kendra..."
"Save it boss. And don't even threaten to fire me again because you know once I'm gone your ass is screwed so if I were you, I'd get my head outta my own ass and do my fucking job."
"Why, you little bi..."
"I'm sorry what was that? Is that the sound of someone who wants ideas?" Silence "I thought so, either you give me the recognition I deserve or you can go fuck yourself boss" She said with a smirk as she could literally feel the anger boiling inside him. "Now if you excuse me, all your yapping gave me a killer headache and I'd like to rest my head"
"You're gonna regret this Hart, mark my word" He told her as she rolled her eyes and opened the door.
"Oh I'm so scared, what ever shall I do?" She said sarcastically with a sinister laugh as she finally exited his office. "Bastard"
"I'm guessing that went well" The calm voice of Curt called out with a smile on his face as he sat down on a crate outside Russo's office.
"You were here this whole time? Wow. You're a rascal but I never counted you as an eavesdropper" Kendra said sitting down next to him.
"Okay, thanks. I'll take that as a compliment" He said making her chuckle a bit. "By the way you look like shit"
"Thanks, it's the new Curt style look. I did a pretty good job didn't I?" She joked but surprisingly he didn't laugh. "What? AM I losing my touch as well?"
"You're burning up Kends. Why are you still working?" Curt said with his eyes filled with concern. Kendra smiled sweetly at him. He was sometimes too caring. But of course that was one of the many reasons as to why she loved him so much.
"Curt trust me, I'm fine."
"Isn't that what most girls say and they mean the exact opposite?"
"True, but I mean it just this once. I'm fine" She said.
"Or do you need me to brush up on the whole culinary skills and make one of my world famous chicken noodle soups?" Curt asked as Kendra snorted. "What was that for?"
"You're good at a lot of things but I wouldn't count cooking, I mean really?"
"Well, first of all I'm not just good I am perfect. You see that's why they call me..."
"Yeah, I kinda get that and..." Kendra's breath hitched as she spotted Bret talking to a stagehand not so far away from them. Curt noticed and tapped her a bit.
"Hey what's wrong?" He asked as she shook her head no taking in a deep breath.
"Nothing. I...I just slipped into a... I mean a..."
"Hey guys" Kendra flinched on hearing Bret's voice.
"Oh hey man. Are you alright Kends?" Curt asked putting his arm around her shoulder. She nodded once again taking in a deep breath.
"I'm fine. Just s...star...startled. Hey B...Bret" She stammered. Bret kept an unreadable expression as his eyes fell on his sister.
"Yeah hi, I wanna talk to you" Bret said motioning to his sister.
"Okay, go ahead" Curt said not failing to notice that the girl in his arms was slightly shaking. What was going on?
"Alone." Bret said sending a slight glare to Curt whose arm he really didn't appreciate being over his sisters shoulder.
"Are you kidding, can't you see she's fucking shaking?" Curt said in a calm tone not wanting to startle Kendra.
"Curt..." Kendra started.
"No, I dunno what's going on but I don't have a good vibe"
"Curt..."
"I'm not gonna leave her with..."
"Curt!" Kendra called out louder finally shushing him. "It's okay. You can go, he is my brother after all" Kendra said with a sigh.
"You heard the lady, beat it" Bret said as Curt gave a loud sigh.
"I'm not gonna be too far away." Curt said exchanging glares with Bret before ultimately walking away.
"That guy is too close to you" Bret said after Curt had left the premises. "It irks me"
"So what, he's like a brother to me. So I should stay away from him as well?" She asked in her usual sarcastic voice. Though she cowered back in fear when Bret gave her one of his all so famous glares. "Sorry"
"Better. And no, as long as you see him as a brother I don't have any problems" Bret said.
"So why did you wanna talk?"
"Right. So, we're going to Calgary next month" Kendra raised an eyebrow.
"I already know that. After Summerslam" She said not seeing why he was telling her this. "And what happens next?" She asked.
"Uh..." Bret started. "...well you see..." Bret cut himself off noticing a figure standing at a distance resting on a wall, who was staring at them with the WWF championship placed firmly on his shoulder. "Why is he staring at us?"
"Who?" Kendra asked spinning around and almost immediately Shawn disappeared. "Who was staring at us?"
"Kendra don't play dumb. You saw Shawn staring at us. In fact I think he was staring at you" Bret said with anger boiling inside him. He had completely forgotten why he came to talk to Kendra and had his mind set on why that idiot wouldn't leave his sister alone.
"Bret, I'm serious. I didn't see Shawn" She said silently praying for him not to have an outburst of anger.
"Oh really, but you know he was staring at you"
"How would I know that? My eyes have been on you the entire time"
"Then why the fuck was he staring at you?" Bret said clenching and unclenching his fists as Kendra hopped down from the crate.
"Bret, I don't know wh..."
"You're lying!" He yelled making her flinch. "Something is going on between you two, isn't it? Answer me!"
"I..."
"Okay, talk's over." Curt said walking over to them as Kendra heaved a sigh of relief. "Kendra, leave" You didn't have to tell her twice as she quickly dashed off. Bret quickly snapped out of his anger and ran a hand through his hair. Curt stood cross armed, glaring at him.
"Listen..."
"Save it. Better get your shit together before you actually end up hurting her someday." Curt said walking away leaving Bret there with an emotion he felt on a daily basis stemming down to his sister.
Guilt.
"Curt wouldn't understand" Bret said to himself as he made his way back to his locker room finding his dear old little brother there applying tape on his fingers.
"Hey man, why do you look so down?" Owen asked with a puzzled expression on his face. "And did you talk to Kendra?"
"I screwed it up. I got angry for some other reason and I... it slipped my mind." Bret said pacing back and forth. "I told you it would be better for you to tell her instead of me."
"No, we both know it's your place to tell her. And we should fast. The sooner we do the better. For all of us." Owen said standing up.
"It's not that simple Owen. I just..."
"And try to control your anger around her. The poor girl thinks you hate her" Owen said as Bret stopped his pacing suddenly and looked up at Owen as if to tell him to repeat what he'd just said. "I said it. She thinks you hate her. Can you blame her?"
"I know I have a tendency to act out. But I don't hate her. She's my sister for God sake. I can never hate her. God. But today she seemed so scared and..." Bret stopped as a sudden look of realization crossed across his face.
"And..."
"Oh my God, she thinks I hate her. Dammit" He said running his hand through his hair. "Everything I do is for her own safety"
"Is it?" Owen asked not convinced.
"Yes it is. Damn right it is. I'll just have to kick things up a notch."
"Wait that's not what I meant..."
"You're a great brother. Now get out I need to get ready for my match" Bret said shooing his brother out of his locker room. A very confused Owen left with a feeling that something bad was gonna happen soon. And somehow Bret was gonna be involved.
Bret on the other hand picked up his phone and found the contact he was looking for.
My room. 1am. We have some matters to address - Bret.
Less than a minute later he got a reply.
This better be good - Sunny
It was gonna be good. He would do what needed to be done to keep his little sister safe at all costs. What's the worst that could happen?

Tensions ran thick in Vince McMahon's office as he paced back an forth waiting for his head of creative Vince Russo to appear as his son Shane tried to calm him down. To no avail as the man kept on ranting.
"The board of directors are on my neck right now about Austin. He's red hot now. What are we gonna do with him? This could make me a millionaire dammit, we can't screw this up" Vince barked as he continued his pacing. It seemed to be an incredibly popular thing to be doing today.
"Dad, you're already a millionaire. Remember Hogan. Hulkamania. That made you a millionaire" Shane said even though that added nothing to the topic.
"I know that already dammit. And I need Steve Austin mania or whatever to make me a billionaire. And where is Russo? No where to be found. So inconsistent. How can someone have an idea for me, full blown and money generating. Yet he doesn't know how to take the first step" Vince said continuing his pacing.
"Creative work takes time though"
"Screw that. Time is money. And the more time we spend yapping, the more money I'm NOT making! And where the hell is my coffee!"
"Calm down dad, all that will be settled soon. I'll go get the coffee just calm the hell down" Shane said stepping out of his office. Sometimes being Vince's son was a chore itself. The yelling alone. But his dad was a creative genius after all. And he still loved him all the same.
Since he couldn't find the intern he sent twenty minutes earlier to get the coffee he unfortunately had to do it himself. God help him because he couldn't even remember how his dad liked his coffee.
"Need some help Mr. McMahon?" Kendra who had been making her way to catering to get some food for a writer spotted him looking distraught.
"Do I? Please. All I've been hearing for the past hour has been yelling. I think I've lost my ability" He said making her giggle. "Do you mind helping?"
"Not at all Mr. McMahon. What do you need?"
"Well first off, have you seen Vince Russo anywhere? You're his intern right?" Shane asked. Kendra gave a sly smirk and shook her head as Shane raised a brow. "Okay. You know something spill"
"He's trying to come up with ideas for Austin. He's in his office losing his mind" She said calmly.
"Okay" Shane said not knowing what else to say. "And two, do you know how my dad likes his coffee?" Kendra couldn't help but laugh. "Yeah I know it's pretty funny" He said sarcastically making her laugh eve more.
"Yeah very. Everyone knows he likes his coffee black. No sugar, cream just black." She said taking the cup and making the coffee herself.
"Oh right. I used to know that" Shane said with a nervous laugh.
"It happens. I totally understand" She said stirring the cup. "You look like you need some rest"
"Haha, my night hasn't even begun. We'll probably have to spend more and more hours on this Austin thing. No one can come up with any real ideas. Not even Russo. The so called mastermind. I have always told my dad we need a new creative head but no." Shane said shaking his head. Kendra looked amused while handing him the cup of coffee. "Thanks, um..."
"Kendra" She finished with a smile. "Glad to help Mr. McMahon" She said.
"Please just call me Shane. And you're the Hart right?" He asked suddenly seeing her resemblance to them. Though she happened to be much prettier. She nodded "Good, I heard you have a degree an all"
"Guilty as charged" She joked. "It was nice talking to you Mr. Mc... Shane. But I best be going" She said about to walk away before Shane called her back.
"Wait, we're kinda desperate and I can't stay there another moment. We need an idea of some sorts please, I just want to sleep" Shane begged. Kendra was shocked. She had the entire Austin push detailed in her head and she was just waiting for a time to expose the fact that Russo was a lying stealing bastard.
But would Shane believe her? He would think she was an attention whore looking for a way to jump higher in the company. No she had to think smart.
"Well..." She dragged on biting her lip.
"You've got an idea. I can feel it. Spill it"
"Maybe just a little something. You said you want to push Austin right? How about putting him in a program with Bret who is a former champion. It will give him a bit of exposure to the fans and help him build a name for himself, you know show his face more on TV, allow him to have more promos because believe me the man can talk very well. And that Austin 3:16 thing, maybe drag it on a bit, let him finish with Roberts first. Just for the purpose of t-shirts. You know like the nWo. I would buy it. And don't turn him face. Just keep him as a heel for the time being. Heel is gold again like the nWo" She blurted out to a stunned looking Shane. "Just a thought"
"Kendra..." Shane started but words couldn't come out.
"I gotta go give Mrs. Reed this. I hope to see you soon Shane" Kendra said leaving a very stunned Shane McMahon standing there. He didn't understand what went on but God knew that it was a damn good idea and something told him she'd have many more like that. He quickly rushed back to his father's office to meet the man standing in front of a drawing board with Austin written boldly on it. Yeesh.
"Oh good, you're here with my coffee" Vince said snatching the coffee out of his son's hands. "I love me some coffee"
"Yes, and I also brought an idea. It involves money" Shane said as Vince looked up at him with pure excitement written on his face.
"I like it already. So what's this bright idea my son Shane?"
"Trust me, it's gold. Well actually silver. But something tells me we'll find gold soon enough" Shane said with a smile.
"What is this classic Literature? I want ideas not strange unfunny unsexual metaphors" Shane sighed.
"Of course you do dad. Now for the idea..."
And that wraps up another chapter sorry for the long delay. I noticed I hadn't focused on her work life more and I know I have a lot of plans with that. Also, Shane, Austin and Undertaker will become bigger parts of the story in a near future. Get ready for some Shawn too. Ohh, Bret and Sunny? And was so important to tell Kendra? Wait and see.
Thanks again for supporting my story. Please continue to do so with follow, favouites and of course reviews! Mama needs some reviews people!
