Chapter 10 - Phenom-enal Assistance
"...I'm gonna fucking kill Gunn and slice Russo's neck open too!. What gives them the effrontery to treat you like that? What kinda sick bastards do that?!" Curt yelled his voice filled with anger making Kendra sigh. She had just finished telling him about what transpired yesterday and just like she expected he hadn't taken it well, at all. "Kendra we need to teach them a lesson sweetheart, you know I won't take this"
"And we will! Just not now, please. The last thing I need is to be reminded of..." She shivered as the memory of Billy against her body etched itself in her mind. "...that. And most importantly, I don't want you to lose your job so please let's just drop this for now. Please Curt" She asked looking at him with puppy dog eyes. He sighed.
"Kendra..." He warned. She ignored him and continued making those puppy dog eyes. "...ugh, fine. God why do those get me every time?"
"Because I'm a master at it. It's plain science" She said smirking at him. "Now hush, I gotta go dress up." She said attempting to get out of his bed only for him to pull her back down, "What the hell Curt?" She asked with a laugh.
"Oh come on, aren't you up for another perfect round with none other than the perfect one himself?" He asked with a teasing smirk making her giggle once again.
"Says the guy who didn't wanna 'take advantage' of me" She said making air quotes with her hands making him chuckle. "Now I really need to get dressed" She asked still trying to get outta bed but he was having none of it as he still kept a firm grasp around her stomach. "Curt, I need to go!" She whined.
"No" He replied.
"I'll cut your precious golden locks if you keep me here" She threatened. That seemed to do the job as he let out a playful groan before letting her go. "Thank you. Now close your eyes." She commanded as he gave her a 'are you kidding me?' look. "I'm not kidding close your eyes" She said once again as he finally obliged. "Good Curt"
"You're funny. What have you got to hide that I haven't seen before?" He asked as she rolled her eyes even if he couldn't see her. "Don't roll your eyes at me hun. Before you ask and probably beat me up but fail miserably because I always win, my eyes are still closed."
"Good to know Curt" She said as she searched for her clothes around the room.
"You know, we could make this a regular thing again Kends. I'm just saying" Curt said as she finally retrieved all her particles of clothing.
"Are you serious?" She asked with a laugh but stopped when she noticed he wasn't laughing. "Oh you're being serious. You know I love you Curt, but we called quits on this a long time ago. This was just a one time thing."
He sighed. "Fine. But let me know when you wanna make it a two or three time thing. I'm always available for you baby" He teased with his eyes still closed. She shook her head laughing.
"Never call me that again please." She said as she continued laughing while making her way to his bathroom. "You can open your eyes now," She told him before shutting the bathroom door. She locked it too just in case he tried any funny business.
"Hey what gives? Why'd you lock the door?" He asked from the outside barely ten seconds later. She shook her head at him chuckling. What a guy.
(History lesson time, get your notes!)
Curt and Kendra met briefly in 1989 when the latter was still a teenager who was attending one of the wrestling shows they held in Canada with her boyfriend at that time during her spring break. At that time, Bret hadn't developed his stupidly over protective nature and proudly introduced his sister to everyone in the locker room at that time bragging about how he was the one who taught her how to wrestle and how she could kick any of their asses in a second.
The guys all laughed it off as a joke but nonetheless Kendra was warmly received. Anyways, he hadn't really paid that much attention to her mostly due to the fact that that she was a teenager and also due to the fact that he was new and not really close to anyone backstage yet with the exception of Rick Rude who he'd known since childhood. She came to two or three more shows and that was the last Curt heard of her for a while.
Their 'relationship' actually started roughly four years after that in the year 1993. A twenty year old college sophomore Kendra joined her brothers on the road during her summer break. Well technically, she joined Owen as Bret wanted none of it. Bret grew incredibly paranoid that some of his colleagues would take interest in his sister and by colleagues he mostly meant Razor, Diesel and Shawn but a few others as well. The only person Bret really trusted was Undertaker and unbeknownst to Kendra, Bret made him her 'unofficial but actually totally serious bodyguard' whose job was to keep those said men away from Kendra. Somehow it all worked.
Almost.
From the day Curt laid eyes on her again, she took his heart by storm. He didn't believe she was the teenager he spotted once or twice backstage as she had grown into a gorgeous bombshell. Owen re-introduced them to each other and almost immediately a friendship blossomed, and soon enough he asked her out but she rejected him. Twice. The third time he asked her out she told him how she wasn't ready to date anyone but offered that they could be friends with benefits which Curt accepted straight away only on the condition that their relationship would remain a secret,
Curt remembered Bret strictly warning him not to try any funny business with his sister as Bret was a very perceptive man and could easily tell something was up. But of course Curt was the perfect actor and Bret was forced to accept the fact that they were just really close friends though he still had his doubts from time to time but never really acted on them as he respected and trusted Curt a little more than the others.
Curt and Kendra kept their relationship going for almost two months before they decided amicably to call it off. They still remained close after that with no one suspecting anything had happened between them and no relapses back to their previous 'acts' as Curt had even gone on to date other women. With time their little feelings of attraction toward each other died and they just solely remained best friends.
(End of history lesson! Hope you took notes, they will be important later on in the story)
That being said, Kendra had to plans to sleep with Curt the night before or ever again for that matter but after what had happened with those two assholes, she just needed to get a little bit distracted and also feel safe even if it was just for that night. Did it work? She guessed it did but that didn't erase the experience completely. But it did spark something inside her.
She yearned for revenge.
"Okay, I'm done now. Curt" She said unlocking the bathroom door once she'd finished dressing up. "Thanks Curt, but I'm on my way out now" She said but got no answer. Curiously she wondered back into the room and noticed that Curt lay fast asleep on his bed. She giggled kissing him lightly on the cheek. "Thanks for everything" She whispered as she exited his room. Luckily they were on the same floor so all she had to do was to make it back to her room without anyone suspecting or even figuring out...
"Hey!" A voice called out making her jump. She turned around to see none other than Stone Cold Steve Austin who looked like he was on his way to the gym. "I know you. Right?"
"Uh... yeah. I'm an intern" She said inwardly thanking God that she'd straightened out her sex hair and worn her hair down covering the hickeys on her neck. Anyways Steve looked confused a bit. "Oh and I ran into you a while ago when I was being chased by Curt. Thanks for the water again" She said as she saw a look of recognition on Steve's face.
"Right. The weird girl" He said with a chuckle confirming that he'd truly remembered her. Though she didn't really laugh too not finding anything funny.
"It's Kendra" She said introducing herself.
"Oh Kendra as in the Bret and Owen's sister?" She nodded though trying her best not to roll her eyes. She was a little tired of everyone always associating her with her family. It was good to be recognized but it also meant she had to work twice as hard for anyone to take her seriously. Most would just assume she got this job because of her last name when in actuality, when she applied for the internship she never revealed that she was a 'Hart' Hart.
"Yeah, I am" She replied feeling a bit awkward. Steve also had a somewhat suspicious look on his face. Her heart pumped faster as she noticed his eyes flicker from her to the door she was standing in front of.
"That your hotel room?" He asked. She shook her head no as she didn't see the need to lie. "Okay then. It was nice meeting you"
"Same." She said walking away before stopping. "Oh and please, can you not mention seeing me here to anyone? Not like it's that important or..."
"Whatever, not my business" He said as she breathed a sigh of relief. "Just be careful cause next time you might not be so lucky to see someone like me." He said walking off.
She had no words to describe her meeting with Steve Austin as he didn't seem to like her very much or even at all. But she could tell that he was an alright person due to the fact that he didn't give her the judging look or didn't try to blackmail her like some other people might have done. He minded his business.
That everyone, is going to be the future face of the company. She could feel it in her gut.

"Have any of you guys seen Taker? He said he was gonna be here soon!" Shawn asked already getting impatient.
"Here we go again" X-Pac said rolling his eyes. "For the eleventh time, he is coming. Now can I work out in peace? Thank you very much!" X-Pac yelled sounding very pissed. He wasn't a morning person and Shawn was really getting on his nerves asking about Taker every two minutes. Did he look like an Undertaker keeper?
"Chill X, and for the love of God Shawn calm down" Triple H said trying to calm his friends down. "What's so important that you need Taker so badly? Is there something we should know about?" He asked with a laugh X-Pac joining him as well before they were silenced with a glare from Shawn. Hunter cleared his throat. "Just a joke man. Lighten up"
"Whatever" Shawn said his eyes darting over to the door hoping to see The Undertaker walk in any moment. Alas, that was not meant to be.
"What crawled his ass and died lately?" X-Pac joked though genuinely concerned for his friend's well being. Shawn was a lot of things but he wasn't a mopey bastard. Something was definitely wrong with him.
"Oh that. Yeah he's pretty bummed out cause..."
"Hunter" Shawn warned.
"Oh boohoo. Anyways, he's pretty bummed out cause the chick he's been obsessing over rejected him" Hunter said.
"Really? Seriously?" X-Pac asked in disbelief. He'd never really heard of anyone rejecting Shawn before. That was a first.
"Yeah seriously. Even before he got the balls to ask her out" Hunter said shaking his head feigning sorrow. "So sad"
"Hunter" Shawn warned once again.
"Oh cheer up man. So you got rejected, big deal. You could get like twenty the next minute. And you're still fucking Sunny too. I don't really see why you're all grumpy. Hunter this is weird" X-Pac said.
"Big time. She's hot and all but he can always get someone equally as hot or even hotter. But he's just so hung up on her. Maybe cause she's Bret's sister and he wants to fuck Bret up and..."
"Hunter for the love of God, shut up!" Shawn yelled making everyone in the gym turn to him. "Nothing to see here people"
"Shit, Bret's sister are you alright?" X-Pac said laughing. "I see why, you just wanna mess with Bret and what better way than banging his sister. I totally get that now. But still Shawn, that's nothing to mope about. Just turn up the charm a little more and she'll fall at you're feet. Know what I'm saying Hunter?" X-Pac asked Hunter who nodded. Shawn groaned.
"God, why am I friends with you guys?" Shawn asked as X-Pac and Hunter laughed.
"You love us deep down" Hunter said.
"And also you know you don't have any other choice." X-Pac said.
"That's true" Shawn said as they all changed the topic whilst continuing their workout. Though his mind wondered back to Undertaker and why he wasn't there yet. He knew he'd indeed become desperate but who could blame him?
Flashback (Chapter 6)
There was a thick air of silence as Shawn and Kendra engaged in a very uncomfortable stare down with the person at the door of the elevator who so happened to be the one and only, Undertaker who eventually broke the silence with a soft laugh.
"Well, there's something you don't see everyday. I'm sorry, was I interrupting something?" He teased which sounded a bit odd for his deep voice. Kendra quickly got over the awkwardness and crossed her arms over chest chest giving him a 'really' look. "What?"
"That was like the most cliche question to ask. And no" She said not looking quite as amused as him. Or amused at all. Shawn remained silent in distant thought as his mind went back and forth to the kiss and what would have happened if the elevator didn't start working again.
"Excuse me for that, that's the normal reaction anyone would have don't you think so darling?" He said flashing a grin at her which scared her a bit because she wasn't used t seeing him smile. Grins and The Undertaker don't belong in the same sentence.
"Okay..." She paused glancing at Shawn who seemed to be in a world of his own. "...well, I'll just be on my way. Gonna take the stairs this time" She said as Undertaker raised an eyebrow. "We got stuck the uh... last time"
"I can see that" He said with a smile. "Well you run off now, I need to have a little chat with Michaels here" Undertaker said as Shawn snapped out of his little daze at the mention of his name. Kendra gave him a worried expression to which he just brushed her off.
"Goodnight Shawn" She said quietly before walking away. Shawn stepped out of the elevator rubbing his head as he pondered on the events that occurred during the past fifteen minutes. And more so he tried to remember where the hell he was actually going as he'd long forgotten why he even got on the elevator to begin with.
"Not so fast Michaels, you and I have to have a little chit chat, there are some things we need to talk about" Undertaker said as Shawn's head snapped towards his direction. Shawn gulped. If there was anyone who intimidated his backstage, it was The Undertaker. The only man who could actually kick his ass unlike that jackass Bret Hart. 'Kendra's brother' He thought as he followed Undertaker to the bar.
He could be in for a major problem.
"Sit down, order any drink you want. I'll do so too. And just so you know you're paying" Undertaker said to him.
"Haha, says who?" Shawn asked only to receive a cold stare from Taker. He sighed. "Fine but just because I want to"
"That'a Shawn" Taker praised as they ordered their drinks.
"So, any reason for calling me down here? Asides from getting a free drink?" Shawn asked making him laugh.
"Can't two coworkers just hang out in a bar?" Undertaker asked. Shawn shrugged. "Well, you're right. I do have a reason for calling you down here. It's because of Bret's sister" Shawn groaned as he saw were this was going.
"Listen if you want me to stay away from her or all that bullshit, you're talking to the hand because I'm not gonna..."
"Actually I wanna help" Undertaker said cutting Shawn off.
"That's what I expected you to say, you just wanna dictate..." Shawn stopped mid sentence as what Undertaker said finally processed in his brain. "...you wanna help me? Why?"
"Simple. I have never seen you stand up for anyone like you did for her during that coffee incident. I like Bret and all but he has some annoying tendencies especially regarding his sister. I was pleasantly surprised when you all people came to her defense even if it was just to mess with Bret. Also, I wanna see where it will go. Think of it as a little pet project of mine" Undertaker said. Shawn laughed and shook his head vigorously trying to figure out if he was dreaming or not.
"You're full of surprises deadman. So what we're like pawns in your little game or what?"
"Whatever you wanna call it Michaels, but the fact remains if you ever wanna get the girl you need my help" Undertaker said calmly taking a sip outta his drink.
"First off, what makes you think you know more about how to get girls than I do? I'm the heartbreak kid for your information"
"Trust me you'd need my help. I know her better than probably anyone else in this company. Trust me on that." Undertaker said. And it was true. For God sake Bret made him monitor the kid for a solid three months. For good reason. But of course he'd never tell Shawn that.
"Sure. Even if I believe that for a second, I'm pretty sure I don't need your help. Like I said I'm the heartbreak kid. Certified ladies man."
"Trust me on this Shawn, she's gonna reject you. You need my help. But you can decide not to anyways. You'll eventually come crawling back. And I will definitely laugh" Undertaker said.
"Sure, thanks for the help Mark but I'm not desperate."
"Alrighty then. And it's Undertaker to you. Call me Mark again and it will be the last thing you will ever say"
End of Flashback
True to his word, the Undertaker couldn't stop laughing when Shawn came up to him asking for help.
"Okay Taker, I get it. But it's been a whole fifteen minutes. Are you gonna help me or not?" Shawn asked unamused which made Taker laugh more.
"Well look who finally ate a slice of humble pie. She finally rejected you didn't she?" Undertaker asked still laughing.
"Alright fine yes she did. And you were right. I should've taken your help when you offered. Can you tell me how to get the girl now? Please. No one has ever rejected me before"
"Well isn't this a nice twist of events. But nonetheless I will help you Shawn. I love seeing your ego being knocked down by a peg or two. This should happen more often." Shawn rolled his eyes. "Relax heartbroken kid. That suits you. I will call you that from now on"
"Taker!"
"Yes Heartbroken kid" Undertaker said bursting into laughter once again. They and a few other non-WWF employees were the only ones left in the gym. Apparently all their coworkers fled when Undertaker started laughing. They thought the end times were at hand.
"Okay, I've tolerated your laughter long enough Taker. Please, can we get to business now?" Shawn asked with a sigh. Undertaker immediately put on his serious face.
"You really like this girl huh? Or do you like the chase?" Undertaker asked.
"Both. But I just can't get her outta my head. Hell I even see her face when Sunny and I are..."
"Too much information Michaels. Don't make me change my mind about helping you" Undertaker ordered. Shawn nodded. "And speaking of Sunny, you know what you have to do with her" Shawn's demeanor turned to one of confusion. "Break up with her obviously"
"What? I dunno if..."
"Well, you better know. I'm not gonna help you if you don't break up with Sunny. I give you three days Shawn. Call it off with Sunny or no help from me"
"But..."
"Okay, I can see your heart isn't really into this. Begone now. Let me work out in peace" Undertaker shooing Shawn away.
"Alright fine. I'll dump her." He said with a sigh. "All the running around was getting a bit to... wait, how did you know about us?" Shawn asked. Undertaker laughed.
"There are many things I know Shawn. Don't forget that" Undertaker said and Shawn could've sworn the room became a little chilly after that. "Now get out I wanna continue my workout"
Shawn's mind wondered back to what the Undertaker had said as he exited from the hotel gym. He had to break up with Sunny a girl who was definitely into him and worshiped the very ground he walked on within the next three days or risk losing his chance with Kendra a girl he barely knew anything about who had zero feelings for him.
As he walked over to the elevators he saw three familiar figures come out of one all with luggage in their hands laughing at something. Sunny, Sable and Kendra. Sunny and Sable had barely noticed him but Kendra glanced over to him and he smiled at her. He was relieved when he saw her flash a beautiful smile right back at him.
He knew what he had to do.
As far as he was concerned. Him and Sunny were history.

"New York at last. My favorite city in the world! The city of..." Sunny started as they exited from the plane.
"I thought Vegas was your favorite?" Sable asked interrupting her in the process.
"I thought Paris was your favorite?" Kendra asked as her phone buzzed from inside her pocket. She decided to ignore it. Sunny laughed.
"Okay, one of my favorite cities in the world. Excuse me for trying to do a little poetry" Sunny said with an eye roll as the other two girls laughed.
"You stink at poetry" Sable said with a laugh.
"Shut up, I'm good. Tell her Kends" Sunny commanded.
"I would but you know, Tampa to New York is no easy fit. I really need to get a little sleep and..."
"Hold on a sec. We have a day off and we are in New York city of all places. I say we take a little trip around the city" Sable suggested. Kendra heard her phone buzz again but ignored it once again.
"That's a terrific idea!" Sunny exclaimed excitedly. Kendra groaned. "Oh come on don't be a buzzkill Kendra"
"Yeah, you love sight seeing. Don't worry, we're not going shopping" Sable said trying to get Kendra to agree.
"Yeah the least will be minor shopping" Sunny added. Kendra and Sable looked at her. "No shopping, gotcha" She said as the three girls laughed.
"Honestly I wanna go sight seeing but I didn't really get much sleep last night. You guys can go but I have a date with a hotel bed" Kendra said with a yawn.
"Getting some last night?" Sunny teased as Sable laughed.
"I doubt it. She's not the casual sex type. Believe me I've tried setting her up with some blokes. She refused them all." Sable said as Kendra giggled. She remembered that vividly. It was her first week as an intern and Sable had a slight obsession with her getting laid. She tried and tried but ultimately gave up. Kendra was a tough nut to crack.
"Sable's right. I just had a rough night" She said once again hearing a buzz in her pocket. "You guys walk on, I need to check my phone. God help me it's probably my oh so caring brother Bret" She said.
"Okay, meet us up." Sable said as she and Sunny walked on. Kendra got out her phone and went straight to the messages. She had three from an unknown number.
Hey, I would've texted you sooner but someone stole the company phone book - Unknown
Kendra laughed. Curt still hadn't returned that. So this was definitely someone in management.
I'm free today so can we meet up and discuss some things? I have a lot of questions - Unknown
Hello! Are you there? - Unknown
Right. Like she'd reply. This was probably Curt or Owen pulling some elaborate prank on her. She was about to turn off her phone when it buzzed again.
Oh and by the way, it's Shane - Shane
Oh shit. She was screwed. Did he find out anything? Did Russo say something to him? Is gonna get fired? Or did he just wanna have a friendly talk with her? She sighed.
Only one way to find out.
Sure Shane, are you at the arena? - Kendra
She got a reply about a minute later.
Haha, my dad and the others are there but like I said I'm free. As in I gave myself a time off. Maybe meet me up for dinner somewhere - Shane
She paused. What was he gunning at?
And before you think anything, it's strictly professional. - Shane
She giggled. One could never be so sure in the WWF.
Alrighty boss. I'll be there - Kendra
Awesome. I'll text you the details later - Shane
Kendra sighed. So much for a day off.
Another chapter woo! In record time too. I wrote this within a day Lol. And it's probably error free. Probably. Anyways, Curt and Kendra's friendship hasn't always been so innocent. Desperation finally caught on to Shawn, Undertaker is so off character yet so in character at the same time and what is Shane's agenda? Will Vince McMahon (aka My favorite character in this boon) return next chapter? Stay tuned to get the answers to those questions.
Once again please don't forget to favorite, follow and leave those sweet reviews. I really wanna hear what you guys think lemme know if I'm worse than I think I am at writing for the support guys and catch you guys in Chapter 11.
Stay Safe. COVID-19 is a jabroni and a grade-A piece of monkey crap.
