Disclaimer: I don't own Pokemon, I only own Violet Hawke as my OC.
Summary: Violet Hawke wanted nothing more than to be a Bug Pokemon Trainer, but with how people viewed those types all she got was ridicule until the day she bumped into the local Professor. Now on a journey, she tries to make her goal a reality, but with an Organization coming out of the shadows she has to decide just how much she's willing to risk to realize her goal.
Chapter 28: Storming the Game Corner
"You have to be kidding me." Green muttered in annoyance as both he and Violet stood outside of the Rocket Game Corner, one of Celadon City's biggest attractions.
It was also the main casino in the Kanto Region where many trainers could get rare Pokemon that were said to be hard to find.
This was where Alakazam sensed Eevee and the two were in a state of disbelief.
"Rocket… Game Corner, they were hiding in plain sight this whole time?" Violet asked, trying to figure out how no one suspected this.
It was a pretty bold use of a name, she'll give them that.
That's probably why no one suspected it.
"In other words, they found a way to be funded legally." Green shook his head, not knowing if he wanted to be angry or impressed by that.
For a criminal group, that was quite the achievement.
But he chose the former due to why they were here.
"Come on." Green opened the door with Violet right behind him. "And stay close, the last thing we need is to be separated here."
Due to the Game Corner being a Casino, it was one of the many places that was open twenty-four seven in Celadon with countless trainers inside of it, attempting to get enough coins for a rare Pokemon or a powerful TM.
While it was normal, Violet felt a surge of dread.
"Green," She whispered, making him glance towards her. "What are the chances that Team Rocket kept some of the rare Pokemon they use for prizes here?"
That made Green tense, not even thinking about that.
He knew for a fact that the Game Corner had access to Dratini's that were bred for it, so the thought of Team Rocket with an army of Dragonites was a terrifying one.
And that's not even going into the fact that the newly created Porygons were here as well with no one knowing how strong those ones were.
"The minute we find the hideout, send your Butterfree out." Green suggested as he already planned to have his Alakazam disable any grunts they see. "You put the Rockets to sleep while I disable them. If we're lucky, we can take a large number of them out before they know we're here."
"What about the cameras?" Violet brought up, already seeing a few.
If this place was a hideout, then Team Rocket already knew they were there.
Or they knew she was there given how many times she ran into them and she was starting to have flashbacks to the number of times they attempted to ambush her.
Green kept quiet at that before hearing a shout as someone blew their money. "We can actually plan around that, they don't know that we know this might be a hideout." He whispered, not wanting to be overheard by anyone they were passing. "For now we need to blend in, act like we're here to gamble."
That made Violet nod.
What he said was true, after all one of the prizes here was a Pinsir, so if Team Rocket was aware of her being here due to the cameras, they probably think it's because of that.
Side stepping someone who was clearly drunk, Violet swallowed nervously as an idea came to mind.
"I think I might have a way to find the entrance." Violet whispered as the two began to wait in line to buy some coins.
Green didn't look at her, but he grunted to show he was listening.
"You know how Team Rocket had ambushed me in the past right?" Violet asked, being as quiet as possible while Green gave a barely noticeable nod, remembering that whole SS. Anne mess quite vividly. "What if we use that?"
Hearing that made Green turn towards her with an unreadable expression. "You can't be serious."
Violet just shrugged.
Chances are, if Team Rocket were still after her to get revenge, they can use this place to their advantage to get her alone.
"It's one of our best chances."
"You really do have no sense of self-preservation." Green muttered in annoyance, not liking the idea.
It was far too risky.
"Do you have a better idea?" Violet asked in a harsh whisper, feeling insulted by what he said.
She does have self preservation… Though given what she's doing right now she supposed that could be argued.
Green couldn't answer as they made it to the counter where the worker smiled, but both kids saw the worker stiffen up the moment she saw Violet.
It seemed that they were right about the fact that she was well known in the ranks of Team Rocket.
But the worker quickly acted as if that didn't happen. "Hello, are you here for coins?"
If they didn't know there was a hideout here, they would've missed that completely.
"We are." Green took over. "Five Hundred Coins."
He placed the money on the counter.
"S-Same, how much for Pinsir?" Violet asked, using that to push the idea that they were here for the Pokemon, placing her money on the counter alongside Green's.
It seemed to work as the worker's shoulders relaxed for a split second.
"Five Hundred coins each and the Pinsir will take 6500 coins."
Green narrowed his eyes, knowing for a fact that it should be 2500 coins.
So it seemed that they were using this as a chance to be as petty as legally possible.
Violet seemed to know this as well, but she held her irritation in and nodded.
The minute they left, the worker had someone else take her place and pulled out a pokegear as she entered the backroom.
Giovanni frowned as he was going over some old reports that he's been putting off for the sake of keeping up appearances at the Viridian Gym.
While he was a suspect by the League due to Surge and Koga being revealed, he's been playing his role well to keep from being outed until he was ready.
Both Surge and Koga were in Saffron City alongside Sabrina, the two former Leaders working on their control of Zapdos and Articuno, though there were some slight complications as with Zapdos, Surge had some trouble due to how the Legendary makes any nearby electric Pokemon feral.
Not to mention they had to do it deep underground to avoid their presence causing it to hail or a thunderstorm.
That would be a dead giveaway to their location.
It was only a matter of time before the League realized that Team Rocket already took the city over, having used the Ace Trainers his organization infiltrated to send false messages to them.
If they could get the project they needed Silph Co for completed and capture Moltres along with Mew, they would be nigh unstoppable.
The nearby phone rang, pulling Giovanni out of his thoughts as he took a deep breath and answered it. "I believe I said that I didn't want to be bothered." He said in a stern tone, knowing he had too much work to be done.
"Sorry boss, but the Hawke girl is here."
That one sentence made Giovanni pause before he turned towards the computer screens on the wall behind him and brought up the camera footage, easily finding her in the establishment.
It helped that she was the only one wearing a straw hat in the casino.
Alongside Green Oak, another child that was starting to become an annoyance.
"Is she here for us?" Giovanni asked in a dark tone.
He gave her too many chances as it was.
Out of everything they've done, the Game Corner was their best source of income that he ensured remained off of any record that Team Rocket held, not wanting it to be compromised with the hideout being built by professionals that had their memories wiped by Sabrina's Alakazam using Dream Eater.
If anything threatens it, then he will take care of it personally.
"Not that I know of, I think she's here for the Pinsir prize." The worker said, making Giovanni frown in contemplation.
That would make sense.
Considering she was a Bug Catcher, he should've expected this.
But as he watched the screen, he saw how tense she was, looking over her shoulder as if ready to be attacked.
That nearly made Giovanni snarl in frustration.
She knew.
And that meant they were compromised.
"Boss?" The worker's voice spoke up with uncertainty.
"I want every bit of information wiped from our servers." Giovanni spoke up, knowing they had back ups in their true base. "Move as many of the rare Pokemon as you can and set up the Electrodes to detonate."
"S-Sir?" The worker sounded worried.
"You have your orders." Giovanni didn't even bother to hide his anger at being questioned.
It was already known among the ranks how angry he got with so many of his organization going against his orders in the first place.
"Y-Yes sir."
The line went dead as Giovanni placed it down and clasped his fingers together.
Given the funds this base provided, he would rather avoid destroying it, however at this point it was inevitable.
But he stood up and walked to a nearby painting, pushing it to the side to show a safe.
Taking a deep breath, Giovanni opened the safe to show a metal helmet that he grabbed to hide his features and placed it on before he got to work on placing the rest of the evidence that could be used against them in his suitcase where one could see a dark black Pokedex that was created from the studies of the one they took from Oak's Grandson.
Once that was done, he sat down to wait for Hawke to come to him, knowing that she would find the hideout, a pair of goggles on the table in front of him.
It was about time for them to meet face to face.
"Stop looking over your shoulder." Green said as they were looking at the different machines. "You're being suspicious."
"Excuse me for being worried," Violet quietly snapped, giving him a glare. "We're in the Arcanine Den here."
She couldn't help but be paranoid right now.
Green frowned, looking out of the corner of his eyes, past the machines. "We just need to find the entrance to their base."
It's too bad that Alakazam couldn't locate the exact location of the entrance, but at least they knew it was somewhere here.
"It's probably in the back where only the employees go." Violet muttered in thought, cupping her chin. "They do have to keep customers from finding it after all."
Green grunted in agreement.
It's not like they would put the entrance behind a poster or something.
Eventually the two made it to the far back of the Game Corner where there was rarely anyone around, the two still trying to act as if they were looking for a machine to play.
It wouldn't work for long and Green really didn't want to pretend to play a game while searching.
Looking around, Violet paused as in the far corner the wall looked a little weird.
So she approached it, catching Green's attention as he looked over to see her inspecting it. "Find something?"
"I think so." Violet placed a hand on it before pushing as a hidden door opened up.
There was a pair of stairs behind the hidden door, going down.
"Finally." Green muttered looking behind them to see that no one noticed. "Come on."
With that said, he moved in with Violet following after, closing the door behind her.
Last thing they needed was someone innocent being caught up in this mess.
Immediately she sent Silk, Stinger and Parasite out while Green sent Sandslash, Alakazam and Vulpix out.
Due to how narrow the staircase was, there was no room for Pidgeot or Gyarados and he doubted they would fare well due to how this base was underground.
Raising a finger to his lips, Green opened the door at the bottom of the stairs showing a pure white hallway with potted plants nearby, black lines going across the wall.
The R emblem on the floor however was a dead giveaway showing they really did find it.
So far there didn't seem to be anyone around, but given the nearby cameras, they knew that would change.
"You ready?" Green asked with Violet giving a nod. "Sandslash, Dig and scout ahead."
"Parasite help him out."
Both Pokemon gave a low cry and dug into the ground while Alakazam's eyes glowed before shaking his head.
There was a psychic block in the area that kept him from detecting anyone and he no longer had the burst of energy from the evolution to help him out.
So they needed to tread carefully.
"Vulpix, do you smell anyone?" Green asked, looking down at the Fox Pokemon watching as her tails were twitching from side to side before she gave a nod.
He didn't like this.
Still they moved as slowly as possible, the two peeking around corners as they went to avoid being ambushed.
It went on for ten minutes and nothing happened.
That already told them that something was wrong.
A pained cry however made them jump, not expecting it, but Green's face contorted in fury as he recognized the cry.
"Eevee!" He rushed on ahead, attempting to get to his starter, his Pokemon behind him while Violet's eyes widened as she moved to follow only for a metal door to burst out of the floor, separating the two.
That made Green stop and turn in surprise but he couldn't say anything as suddenly nearby doors burst open and countless Grunts came out.
The same thing happened on Violet's end as she spun around seeing the Grunts sending their Pokemon out.
And while they did have Grimers, Ekans, Arboks, Koffings, Golbats, Hypnos, Machokes, Glooms, Haunters and Raticates, some of them did have some Pokemon that were the prizes at the Game Corners such as Dragonairs, Kadabras, Nidorinas and Nidorinos.
"Give it up, you're completely outnumbered." One of them called out as Violet had her back pressed against the metal door, Green doing the same on his side. "Can't believe you kids just waltzed right into our base like that."
"Alakazam, can you teleport Violet to us?" Green asked, seeing his Psychic type shake his head. "Of course, that would be too easy."
And this meant they couldn't teleport out unless they took down whatever was causing the disruption.
"Hopefully Sandslash and Parasite can get back to us, so we can dig under the door." Violet whispered, eyeing the threats.
She couldn't pull the Pokedex out without setting them off, so she had no idea how strong they were.
Green gave a low nod despite how Violet couldn't see it. "We'll try to regroup, think you can handle yourself?" He asked, not knowing how much opposition she had on her side.
Despite the nervousness she was feeling, Violet gave a shaky grin. "Worry about yourself." She said before calling out. "Stinger! Agility and String Shot! Silk alternate Esper Spore and Psybeam!"
Immediately Green called out his orders. "Alakazam, use Thunder Wave and Psychic! Vulpix, Confuse Ray and Flamethrower!"
Their Pokemon sprang into action as Team Rocket quickly called out their attacks and it was complete chaos with how much Pokemon were involved.
Violet had to move as some of the attacks were shot at her, having to dodge a Dragonbreath, Sludge and Psybeam from some of their Pokemon, stumbling as some of them were very close calls, Silk and Stinger keeping as close as possible as they went on the offensive with the former firing String Shot with precision, hitting the eyes of some of the Pokemon as well as covering the ground to slow them down allowing for Esper Spore to fly through the air, causing massive problems for the Pokemon they affected.
Though the Glooms weren't bothered by the spores one bit due to being part Grass.
As the Spores took effect, Silk fired Psybeams at the Pokemon weak to psychic attacks, taking down countless poison types while Stinger had to use his increased agility to dodge the psychic attacks thrown at him, using Pin Missile to counter some of the psychic types.
On Green's end it was complete chaos Alakazam managing to disorientate the Grunts by pulling parts of the ceiling down, bits of it over the Grunts to take them down and make the Pokemon easier to take down, using Thunder Wave to paralyze them while Vulpix was keeping anything at bay with the flames she was firing, switching to using Confuse Ray to disorientate anything nearby.
"Green, keep going if you can." Violet called out, watching as more grunts were starting to appear. "If we stay in place, they'll overwhelm us. Find your Eevee!"
After all that was their objective here.
Knowing she was right, Green looked at Alakazam. "Make a path." He ordered before calling out to Violet. "Meet up as soon as you can!"
Once he gets Eevee, they'll need to fight their way out.
He didn't hear an answer, but from the noise, he knew she was still fighting so he booked it right as Alakazam blasted a path with Psybeam, moving after him while Vulpix used Quick Attack to get ahead and keep it clear with Flamethrower.
"Meet up as soon as you can!"
Violet barely had time to process that, nearly getting hit by a poison gas from a Koffing that got close, but Silk easily caught the attack with Confusion making it hit the other Grunts as they coughed and fell to their knees.
She then used Psybeam to blast chunks out of the floor and used Confusion to slam the chunks into some of the other Pokemon, doing a makeshift rock slide.
Not wanting to be outdone, Stinger used String Shot on a Koffing and used it as a wrecking ball, making it slam into a group of Pokemon, the action causing the Koffing to erupt as a massive explosion sounded due to there being quite a few Koffings in said group.
An explosion that was no doubt heard by the people in the Game Corner which would cause the Police to be called.
Seeing a path made from the explosion due to it being in the wall, Violet moved through it, her Pokemon behind her as they string shot the hole to slow the Rockets down.
Now she was running through the hideout, hearing the shouts behind her as they were trying to destroy the String Shot barricade before Silk pulled bits of the ceiling down to block it off even further.
That will definitely buy them some more time.
Making it around another corner, an Arbok burst out of the ground, attempting to bite her but it was intercepted as Parasite came out of nowhere, using Body Slam right out of the ground.
Stunned, Arbok went to bite the Parasect only for Silk to muzzle it with String Short and Stinger used Twineedle to take it down.
"Nice job!" Violet praised her team, panting from how much was going on at once. "And welcome back Parasite!"
She was happy that Parasite finally returned from scouting ahead.
They kept moving, Stinger taking the time to set up Sword Dance and Double Team while he could.
Given how unfamiliar he was with the attacks, he needed the time to set them up, Silk doing the same with her own Double Team.
So the next pair of grunts they ran into practically screamed as it looked like she came in with a horde of Beedrills and Butterfrees, not knowing they were illusions, easily taken down in the process.
Parasite dove into the ground once more, going on ahead to use Quicksand on any opposition that would be ahead, but keeping close to prevent any more ambushes.
Knocking a nearby door down, Violet was surprised to find herself in a room full of caged Pokemon who shrunk down at seeing her.
Seeing something like this just made Violet angrier.
Sure she knew that Team Rocket illegally trafficked Pokemon but seeing it in person was just infuriating.
So she got to work, ordering her Pokemon to destroy the locks, catching the Pokemon by surprise.
"Hey, what do you think you're doing?!" Some of the grunts from earlier caught up with her and the sight of them infuriated the caged Pokemon that were just freed as they attacked the Grunts, not even bothering to go for their Pokemon, leaving them free for Violet's team to take them down without too much trouble.
Violet felt pale at seeing some of the Grunts literally getting torn apart by the freed Pokemon, nearly throwing up but she looked away, trying to ignore the sounds.
Great, more material for her nightmares.
She supposed she should be lucky that none of them attacked her.
Following the pained cries of his Eevee, Green didn't stop for anything.
Not even when a Nidorino attempted to run him through, his Sandslash coming out to save him in time.
He did give a quick nod to the Sandslash as he ran, showing his appreciation.
There were multiple sounds of explosions behind him and he was actually curious in how much damage Violet was actually doing to cause that sort of noise?
Or maybe the Grunts were stupid enough to keep using Self Destruct.
Either one was possible.
Still he needed to focus.
One Grunt attempted to grab him as he rounded the corner, but Green just ducked the arm, kicked him in between the legs and elbowed his face, making the grunt fall down in pain with a broken nose and a bruised groin.
He then got assaulted by Alakazam, sending him flying with a small confusion with enough force to knock him out.
Enough to keep him down for good hour or two.
After checking a few rooms, Green felt his blood go cold when he found a lab where he saw Eevee inside of a machine being electrocuted as various empty syringes were nearby.
It looked as if they were trying to pack up, but Green didn't care for that, the sight of Eevee made his mind fill with rage, Green didn't even comprehend the scientists seeing him as Alakazam blasted them with Thunder Wave, taking them down before they could send a Pokemon out.
Rushing to the machine, Green had Sandslash use Slash on it, breaking the glass open before he grabbed Eevee, grimacing from the shocks as he pulled him out.
Eevee cried out, not opening his eyes as he bit on Green's arms, trying to defend himself.
Green gritted his teeth but held on.
"It's okay." He whispered, trying to calm Eevee down. "You're alright."
Eevee didn't seem to recognize his voice as he bit down harder, drawing blood.
Seeing that, Alakazam, Vulpix and Sandslash went to intervene, but Green spoke through the pain. "Eevee, it's me!" He exclaimed, giving his team looks, not wanting them to hurt Eevee.
After everything he's been through, that was the last thing he needed.
At first Eevee kept biting but after a few seconds, he finally opened his eyes and looked at Green, a pained expression on his face, not recognizing him but after a few seconds, his eyes widened as Eevee gave a low cry.
He then looked down and realized what he did before gently licking the wound, showing concern for Green.
"I'm fine." Green whispered, nearly crying as he had his Pokemon back. "You're going to be okay."
Standing up, he looked around before finding Eevee's Pokeball along with his Pokedex that was nearly torn apart showing that Team Rocket has been studying it.
So he grabbed both, returning Eevee and putting him in stasis before glancing towards the door.
He needed to regroup with Violet.
But with how big this place was, it would take forever to find her.
Unknown to him however, the screen of the Pokedex flashed as if something was inside of it.
Violet knew they couldn't keep this up forever as she got further into the base, her Pokemon were starting to get exhausted from how many Pokemon they were taking down.
They could still fight and it seemed that the adrenaline was keeping them going, but it seemed that for every member of Team Rocket they did take down, another three took their place.
Makes sense considering this was their base, but it didn't make it any less annoying.
Still, she couldn't help but be proud.
They were actually taking down a small army by themselves, a lot more then the amount they faced on Seafoam Islands.
And by doing this, Team Rocket's activities should be severely limited due to how much money they will lose with this place closing down.
Eventually however she made it to a small office, seeing a single person sitting on a couch, a metal helmet covering his features, fingers locked together as he leaned forward.
Right behind him, countless screens showing the base as well as the Game Corner played, the latter had people running in fear due to the sounds of explosions that happened with the Police just now showing up.
Though she did see a nearby lamp near the door which she found an odd place to put one, she ignored it and kept her focus on the man.
"Violet Hawke." He spoke, a voice changer disguising his voice. "We meet at last."
Violet tensed as the man stood up, not having a single Pokemon out while her three Pokemon got ready despite their exhaustion.
"Let me guess, another executive?" Violet asked, watching him carefully.
If he was, she couldn't afford to let him send out a Pokemon.
The man chuckled in amusement.
Instead he turned away from her as he walked towards the screens with Violet wondering why he just turned his back on her.
Was he really that confident?
Unless he had a Pokemon already out and it was hidden.
Eyes scanning the room, Violet didn't see anything out of the ordinary when the man spoke. "You've caused us quite a few problems." The man said, pressing a button as various images of Violet fighting Team Rocket at different points of her journey were shown with Violet wondering how he got the footage for some of them. "When I first heard of you, I thought you were nothing but a child that wasn't worth killing, that's why I ordered my men to leave you alone at first."
Hearing him say his men made Violet tense as a horrifying realization washed over her.
This wasn't just an Executive.
This was the Boss of Team Rocket.
Their Leader.
Oh this was much worse then she thought.
"However, you kept interfering with my organization." The man turned and gave Violet a look from behind his helmet. "And now here you are at the heart of one of our bases, I'm afraid that I can no longer abide by your actions."
Immediately the ground erupted as a Golem shot out with a roar, using Rock Slide, nearly killing Violet immediately if it wasn't for Stinger using String Shot to pull her out of the way.
Her Pokemon were barely able to dodge the attack as the Boss clasped his hands behind his back.
"Still, I will commend your strength." The Boss commented as if she didn't just dodge the attack. "You're certainly a cut above some of the other nuisances that we've faced in the past. It's not often that one would be so brazen as you."
He then nodded.
"Golem, kill her."
Golem roared and attempted another Rock Slide that Silk blasted back with Psybeam.
Seeing that, Violet couldn't afford to wait as she ran to the side. "Parasite, Solarbeam!" She called out as the Mushroom Pokemon began to charge. "Silk, Esper Spore! Stinger, Poison String!"
The Boss waited until the spores got close. "Fire Blast."
A massive explosion erupted, with Parasite abandoning using Solar Beam to dig underground to dodge while Silk had no choice but to use Confusion around herself to try and lessen the damage, grimacing in pain as Stinger barely got out of the blast, looking very concerned at how powerful that move was.
Violet bit back a curse at seeing that.
"It's too bad you didn't take Koga's offer in Mt. Moon, I daresay you might've lived long enough to be an adult." The Boss commented with a smirk.
Violet said nothing, glancing towards Silk as the flames died down, seeing her burnt and weary but still conscious as she was still ready to fight.
Parasite burst out of the ground but the Golem saw it coming a mile away and grabbed the mushroom Pokemon by her big claw and slammed her into the ground, raising a foot to use Stomp to crush her.
Buzzing angrily, Stinger shot in, using String Shot on the foot before flying past, still holding onto the string to make it miss, giving Parasite a chance to back away but Golem then grabbed the string and used his strength to slam the Beedrill into the wall, cracking it.
Even with it being three on one, this Golem was doing a lot of damage.
Violet finally pulled the Pokedex out to scan it.
"Golem, the Megaton Pokemon. Said to live in Volcanic Craters on a mountain, its boulder-like body is extremely hard. It sheds its rock hard skin once a year and can withstand dynamite blasts without damage. Current Level is 63."
Seeing the level, Violet felt fear.
This was the highest level Pokemon she's ever encountered.
"Quite the interesting device you have, to think it gives you so much information." The Boss commented, seeing the fear on her face. "I assume you got it from Professor Oak given how you're registered as one of his assistants."
Violet put the Pokedex away and tried to think of a strategy as she ordered for her team to encase the Golem in a String Shot.
While she knew it wouldn't hold, it would at least slow it down and give her some breathing room.
While Stinger and Silk did that, Parasite began to use Stun Spore to slow it down even further, watching as the spores made contact with the Golem who snarled in annoyance before his eyes were covered and before long Golem could barely be seen.
The Boss huffed before closing his eyes. "Explosion."
Eyes widening, Violet had no time to react as a massive explosion detonated with the silk from the String Shot erupting everywhere, sticking to the walls, ceiling and floor.
It even knocked quite a few items off the nearby desk, one of them being the pair of goggles that landed near Violet who glanced at them curiously.
Thankfully the cocoon of silk actually lessened the damage to her team but they were now on their last legs while the Boss was hidden from view due to the dust that was kicked up.
Suddenly a Rhydon shot through the dust, slamming a tail into Silk, taking her out of commission before hitting Stinger with a Mega Punch knocking him out and slamming into Parasite with a Stomp, the Mushroom Pokemon barely conscious.
The Boss just walked forward enjoying the look of fear showing on Violet. "As impressive as your achievements were, the fact that you came here shows you to be nothing more than an arrogant child."
A scratching noise made him look down to see Parasite trying to use Scratch to get Rhydon off of her despite looking ready to pass out.
"And you've raised arrogant bugs as well." The Boss continued as if that wasn't happening.
"Say what you want about me, don't you ever insult my team." Violet snapped, trying to hide her fear.
"Oh is that so?" The Boss smirked, wanting to have her suffer before he actually kills her.
And he found the perfect way to do so.
"Rhydon, rip the mushroom off of the Parasect and do it slowly."
That order made Violet's eyes widened as she remembered the Pokedex entry that she read before making it to Vermillion.
Should the mushroom be removed, this Pokemon will die.
"No." She whispered, seeing Rhydon grasp the Mushroom as he began to pull.
Parasite began to scream in agony as she was feeling the Mushroom being removed.
"Stop it!" Violet shouted running towards them, not wanting Parasite to die.
It was stupid because she knew that she was running to her own death, but she had to do something.
She couldn't just stand by.
Especially when blood began to drip from Parasite as the Mushroom was getting looser.
She tried to return her to the Pokeball, but the Rhydon turned, preventing that from working as the beam hit its back.
In her desperation, Violet almost resorted to sending Sapphire out despite knowing that it wouldn't work, but suddenly the ground beneath Rhydon caved in as Sandslash shot out, slashing Rhydon across the face, leaving deep scratches.
That made Rhydon roar in pain as he spun around, flinging Parasite into the wall where she fell unconscious, leaving Violet free to return her with a look of relief.
That was way too close.
Ensuring that she put Parasite on stasis, Violet found that she couldn't breathe right as the wall imploded with Gyarados making his entrance, Green right behind it with Vulpix and Alakazam surrounding the Rhydon.
Seeing Stinger and Silk unconscious, Green knew what that meant as he kept an eye on Rhydon, seeing the fresh blood on its hands and the ground.
That made him tense up as he knew he had to be very careful here.
"Ah, the second annoyance to my organization." The Boss didn't seem bothered by the sudden appearance of Green.
While it was annoying that he intervened right when Rhydon was about to kill the Parasect, he supposed it didn't matter.
After all, from how the Hawke Girl was shaking, he made his point.
"Rhydon, to me." The Boss ordered with the Drill Pokemon listening with no hesitation.
While that was going on, Green took a moment to glance back at Violet to see how she was still shaking. "Get it together and grab your revives!" He snapped, knowing they didn't have too much time.
At first it seemed as if Violet didn't hear him before she blinked and realization dawned. "G-Got it."
She turned towards Stinger and Silk with a look of dread on her face.
She was surprised the Boss didn't order Rhydon to kill them while she was out of it.
Seeing that, Green was uncertain of why she was acting like this, but turned his attention back to the Boss whose stance showed amusement at how they were acting.
The man even waited for Violet to revive Stinger and Silk when he could've stopped it at any moment.
He wasn't taking the two seriously at all and that pissed him off.
Instead, he looked at the Pokemon that surrounded him and he chuckled.
While Violet only had bugs they were strong in their own way, but it was Green's team that impressed him.
A trainer with only two months of experience having a Gyarados and an Alakazam on his team?
If left alone he could be more of a threat then the Hawke girl has been.
"I suppose you only came here for your Eevee?" The boss asked, seeing him retrieve it on the screen.
The mention of Eevee set Green off with how he glared at the Boss who chuckled.
"You children seem to cherish your Pokemon with the utmost care." He commented, shaking his head. "Neither of you can ever hope to understand what I hope to accomplish-."
"Shut up." Green said in a low tone, cutting the Boss off. "You have no room to talk with everything your organization has done."
Of how many people they killed.
Of the Pokemon they tortured and sold off.
"And you never cared until your Pokemon was stolen," The Boss brought up, seeing Green tense. "Don't act all high and mighty."
Green wanted to shout at him, but deep down he knew the man was right in a way.
When he heard anything to do with Team Rocket, he ignored it.
Most of it was because he was too focused on his own goals and yes it could be argued that he was a child so he shouldn't have to care about all of this.
But it still stung.
"Stinger, ignore Rhydon, use Pin Missile on his trainer."
The order caught Green off guard as Stinger, who hesitated at first, actually fired the move right at the boss only for Rhydon to deflect it.
From the Boss's posture, Green could tell that even he was caught off guard.
While Violet has attacked Team Rocket grunts before, it was only with status moves using Silk or Parasite to take them down, ensuring that she never did anything that would cause serious damage.
Same with him, sure he used actual moves that can cause damage, but his Pokemon always held back to avoid that.
This time however, she actually tried to kill someone.
Turning, Green saw Violet who had her head down, the hat hiding her features, but she was shaking while Silk looked at her in visible concern.
It took a second to realize that Violet was shaking in rage, not fear.
Slowly, Violet raised her head to show nothing but hatred on her face.
"You're the last person to be lecturing anyone." Violet told the Boss, clenching a fist, her nails digging into her palms.
If the man said anything else, she didn't hear it, instead her mind flashing back to hearing Parasite screaming in agony and that just fueled her anger.
"Stinger, if you can, inject him with the most painful poison you have." Violet hissed out, wanting the man to suffer in the same way he inflicted on her Pokemon. "Silk, back him up."
Both bugs were unsure about this, but they listened while Green was actually feeling concerned for Violet.
This was-he didn't think she was capable of ordering something like that.
But they were in the middle of a fight for their lives, so he couldn't afford to say anything.
Rhydon responded to the threat against his trainer with a flamethrower, keeping the bugs at bay before quickly using Double Team to dodge a Psybeam from Alakazam, following up with an Earthquake to damage all of the ground based Pokemon, tanking a Dragon Rage from Gyarados in the process.
The Earthquake began to damage the room as cracks were appearing in the ceiling with bits of it falling down, the kids having to move while the Boss was actually intrigued by the change in the girl who has been a constant thorn in his side.
The Gyarados then attempted to use Bubblebeam, but Rhydon stomped on the ground to kick bits of the floor up, slamming the debris with his tail to send it flying into the water serpent, distracting it long enough to take it down with a Thunderbolt.
Green cursed, seeing how versatile this Rhydon was as it kept everyone at bay, showing it to be capable of taking on an army by itself, keeping every threat in its sight.
From keeping his team at bay to protecting his trainer from Stinger and Silk who attempted to bypass at every turn.
Just how strong was this Rhydon?!
Sandslash kept making the ground unstable to try and knock the Rhydon off balance while Vulpix kept trying to burn and confuse it.
But Rhydon just shrugged it all off, firing a Toxic at his Pokemon to force them to back off before using another Fire Blast to ensure the bugs stay back, that move being the reason Silk never tried to use any spores.
Having enough of Sandslash, Rhydon waited until it dug again to use Earthquake once more, making more of the ceiling cave in with Vulpix going down to the attack as the Mouse Pokemon quickly came above ground only to take a point blank Ice Beam to the face, taking it out of commission.
Two String Shots blinded Rhydon who snarled before Alakazam fired a massive Psychic at the Drill Pokemon, causing some cracks to appear in its armor but it unleashed a Hyper Beam, forcing the Alakazam to dodge out of the way.
Given how it had to rest after that move, Silk finally managed to tag it with Esper Spore, weakening Rhydon leaving Stinger to fly past it, going straight for the Boss who didn't seem that bothered.
Both trainers were surprised when a flash of light erupted as the man had his own Beedrill that countered Stinger, leaving the Poison Bee to be surprised only to take a Hyper Beam to the face showing how outclassed he was.
For a split second, Violet's anger was gone in the shock that the leader had his own Beedrill but it was back after seeing the damage done to Stinger.
Alakazam did one more Psychic, damaging the Boss's Beedrill but it left him open to a Horn Drill from Rhydon that impaled him, forcing Green to return him immediately.
The only awake Pokemon on their side was Silk and Green couldn't let Pidgeot out in here.
About to give the finishing blow, the Boss was caught off guard when an arrow pierced his shoulder, making him grit his teeth as another arrow hit the wall behind him.
Turning, he saw that a Pokeball was attached to said arrow and moved right as a Vileplume appeared, firing a Solar Beam right at Rhydon who spun around, hitting it point blank.
When that happened a Pokeball landed between the kids and the severely weakened Rhydon, letting out a Venusaur that immediately shot a vine whip right at Rhydon, taking it down, sending it flying into the Beedrill to take it out of commission.
"I believe that's enough of that." Everyone turned to see Erika herself entering the room as she had a bow out with another arrow notched, ready to fire, this one aimed towards his heart.
If he so much as twitched, she will go for the kill.
Her normally serene face was twisted with anger at what was happening.
When she first got called due to the report of explosions being near the Game Corner, the last thing she and the Police expected to find was a Team Rocket Base beneath the place.
Once it was discovered, she used her Pokegear to report it to the League and went on ahead with a few officers, the latter having to stay behind to detain both the Rocket Grunts that were already down and the frenzy Pokemon that had escaped showing that someone else was here.
And after seeing bits of String Shot all over the place, Erika had a feeling on who it was, remembering hearing all of the reports the last two months of a bug catcher interfering with Team Rocket.
The fact that a Rocket Base was under her nose the whole time infuriated her, along with the fact that two children thought it would be a good idea to take matters into their own hands instead of calling the police, while she will be having words with them about this, right now she was more focused on the big threat in the room.
"Get on the ground." Erika ordered while the Boss just smirked.
She really thought she had the upper hand.
Behind the three of them, the lamp near the door twisted, changing colors as it became a light purple blob before lunging at Erika, quickly forcing the bow away from the Boss right as she fired, barely missing the man who moved as her Pokemon were distracted by the Ditto attacking their trainer.
"Silk, stop him!" Violet ordered, not wanting him to get away, but the man sent out a Nidoking that fried Silk with a Thunderbolt, allowing for him to press a button on his desk, causing a glass window to slam down, separating him from the others right as the Ditto was taken care of.
"I'm afraid this is where we part ways." The Boss said, watching as Erika ordered a Solar Beam to hit the glass, barely leaving a scratch showing how durable it was. "Rest assured, this isn't the last any of you have heard of Team Rocket."
He then turned his attention to Violet.
"As for you Hawke, you will pay for everything you've done to my organization, what you've experienced today was only the beginning of your suffering."
With that warning, he pressed another button as the building began to shake with multiple explosions going off from the Electrodes they had set up, causing the building to shake right as a Hypno appeared behind the Boss before teleporting them away showing that whatever was keeping psychics from teleporting in was now gone.
"Return your Pokemon now!" Erika ordered, sending out an Exeggutor showing that she intended to teleport them out.
She didn't worry about the Officers inside the base because each of their Partner Arcanines already knew Teleport.
As they did that, Violet took an extra moment to grab the goggles that landed near her earlier, thinking that they might be important if the Boss had them before the Exeggutor teleported them out of the hideout right as the room imploded.

I'll go ahead and say it. I feel like this chapter could be much better. I've been rewriting this one for the last five months because I haven't been satisfied with it, but after a few rewrites, I feel like this is probably the best it'll be.
Originally I was going to have Giovanni use a completed version of the Serum on his Rhydon, but then decided against it as having him easily hold his own and take down both Violet and Green at the same time without using the Serum would show him to be an incredibly dangerous threat along with the level of his Golem showing why he's the strongest Kanto Gym Leader as it was very close to the strength of the Elite Four in this story.
Also, it was the first official meeting between Giovanni and Violet that's been building up ever since the incident at Mt. Moon with the former knowing about her and even though she lost, she did show why she was dangerous as Giovanni didn't underestimate her one bit. Sure he allowed her to revive her bugs while Green was in the room, but that was more confidence in his Rhydon rather than looking down on them, contrary to what Green thought.
Which leads me to what happened to Parasite.
Originally she was supposed to die.
I actually went back and forth about killing Parasite off here as a turning point of the story due to how I've shown death in this story quite a few times, but never the protagonist losing one of her Pokemon, but after speaking about it to a friend, going over pros and cons, I decided in the end not to do that.
But Violet still snapped in the way I intended for her with her actually attempting to straight up kill Giovanni.
I mean if you think about it, this whole journey took place in two months.
In those two months she's nearly died multiple times, poisoned quite a few times, technically stabbed by the throwing needles in the Lavender Tower, electrocuted to the point of being unconscious, nearly froze to death, almost drowned, hunted by a criminal organization for having bad luck in running into them, almost strangled by the Arbok outside of Rock Tunnel, just about suffocated from the Grimer in Mt. Moon and now one of her Pokemon was practically tortured and nearly murdered.
I think anyone would snap after having to deal with that much crap in the span of two months.
Finally Erika had a moment to shine, coming in to save the kids, using a bow like her Manga counterpart did and like Koga she had specially made Pokeballs with the arrows to give her a bit more strategy along with three of her strongest Pokemon being shown with a Vileplume, Venusaur and an Exeggutor.
Alright, let's get the reviews out so I can publish this damn thing.
Pokemonking0924: Yes they were, after all Celadon is the best place to get TM's due to the Department Store and I wanted to show that off in this story as well as build up on what else the Department Store sold to help flesh the city out a bit, I'll continue to flesh out Celadon the longer Violet stays there because I have a few plans for the city. And to be fair to Green, I think anyone would be rash after learning where their Starter was, especially with it suffering, so it's not unbelievable that a ten year old would act immediately on the information.
RonaldM40196867: Thank you and sorry for the late chapter, as for your question, that's a tough one but I'd have to say… Iris. I get why people don't like her because of the Anime, I mean I had my own problems with the Anime but I still enjoyed it-might do my own take on it in the future, but I really liked Iris as a character and it was amazing to see her as the Champion in the Black2/White2 games.
Big Eater: I know, but I mean can you blame them? After everything that happened it would've been surprising for them to place some trust in Erika before they stormed the place. And yea, Violet really has had enough of Team Rocket at this point, especially since she's strong enough to mop the floor with a huge number of the grunts and can hold her own against an Executive. I may or may not have the two take part in the festival mostly so Eevee can begin to heal and I do have a plan for Pinsir in a future chapter.
Pyrojack25: It wasn't really grave robbing, they were catching the Ghost Pokemon inside of the Tower to add to their arsenal and then to have a base in Lavender Town, though they wouldn't have lasted long due to Agatha showing up eventually. And yea, Violet really has become quite the trouble magnet huh? No kidding on the fact that relying on Venonat the way she is would be asking for trouble, it was why I gave her such a personality in the first place to make her unique from the team, besides from the obvious with being a shiny, but due to how rare they can be a Shiny Pokemon can be worth quite a lot. And to be fair to Green and Violet, they do put the hurt on Team Rocket and they're children with one of the Pokemon being experimented on belonging to Green, it would've been surprising if they didn't do that.
Kunoichi69: Yes things have been messy, especially with everything that happened, as Violet mentioned earlier she has new material for her nightmares after this chapter. And yes asking for help from Oak would've been the smartest thing to do, but since when do kids actually do anything that would be considered smart? It'll come up in a future chapter now that it's done and over with.
LuxBeacon: Honestly, saving Eevee was the easy part of this chapter, if they didn't get separated, they would've been able to rush back to the entrance afterwards instead of running into Giovanni. And they didn't really use their new moves all that much due to a lack of training them, but in between some of the fights, Stinger and Silk were able to pull them off, using Double-Team to scare some of the Grunts.
Walkmanapprenticewordsmith: Haha yea it was way too early for Violet to get something like a Scyther and a Pinsir at that point, I wanted to use the other Bug types before then. And no, she'll only have the Kanto Bugs in this story because I do plan to have her visit other regions afterwards to build up her team.
Milos: Again, I don't watch Loud House and I'm not taking any ideas for stories as interesting as they sound.
Kiltlord: Thank you, I'm happy you find the story interesting so far.
Guest17: Yea, sorry I've been pretty busy with work, my youtube channel and life, so I haven't had as much time to write as I used to, but I'm working on my scheduling a bit more to make it better.
Guest18: I was actually almost done when you posted this, I just had to talk to a friend about if I wanted to do something in this chapter or not.
