Chapter 16 - All Apologies

"I think you should slow down with the drinks man, you've had a lot" Curt said as he watched as Chris slurped another glass of beer. "Or I dunno, how about you just stop altogether." Chris ignored him and poured himself another glass. "You'll have a hell of a hangover tomorrow and... you know what, that is not my problem. Drink away"

"A hangover wouldn't hurt me as much she did man. My heart aches so bad" Chris said, his voice cracking along the way as he took sips of his drink already feling quite buzzed. Curt sighed.

"Well that's bad enough and all, but you're a grown ass man for crying out loud! You should forget all about this and move on" Curt said already frustrated with this. He really didn't need all this drama. And Chris definitely didn't it either.

"Easier said than done man. I mean I had suspicions and well, she has done this before in ECW, I... I don't know" Chris said sounding dejected. Curt shook his head filled with pity. He always knew something wasn't right with Sunny, at least now he had a good reason for hating her.

"Well then, why didn't you just break up with her? No one deserves that."

Chris chuckled. "Sunny and I have been dating since high school and eve then she was really outta my league man. I mean look at her, she's hot and..."

"I'm sorry what?" Curt asked holding back a laugh. "That's a load of bull and you know it. Yeah she's hot, so what? She's a fucking cheater! And cheaters shouldn't even be in a league. And you're a wrestler for crying out loud, if you play your cards right you could end up with tons of better ladies than that Sunny character"

"Easier said than done man. I don't even know how to move on"

"No it shouldn't be. Are you really serious?" Curt asking bursting into full on laughter though he was quite stunned when Chris didn't laugh as well. "Oh you are. Wow."

"Yeah, I don't really have that much experience picking up women, I mean... I wouldn't even know what to say. Plus I'm still pretty hung up on Sunny and... God what am I gonna do next?" Chris said running his hands down his face. Curt raised an eyebrow.

"How much experience?" He asked a bit curious.

"Sunny was my first girlfriend... in high school" Chris said plainly. Curt gave him a straight face. "What?"

"You cannot be serious. Well do you remember how you got her to fall for you in the first place? I mean she had to have loved you at some point right?" He joked though it was obvious Curt didn't find it funny with the way he stared blankly at him. "Okay, chill."

"Whatever" Chris said rolling his eyes as he poured himself another glass. Curt sighed.

Kendra so owed him for this God awful night. He could've been something much more worthwhile with his time right now but no, he was stuck babysitting and giving dating advice... or whatever this was. Nonetheless, he still had to help out a fellow guy in need.

"Okay look. I get your all heartbroken and all that sappy stuff yeah, whatever. But I'll be willing to help you find someone else, I mean it can't be that hard. I know stranger things have happened and I mean I am Mr. Perfect. I'll show you, getting chicks is a piece of cake"

Chris scoffed. "Sure. Reality check not everyone is Mr. Perfect. No one probably rejects you but I don't wanna take that chance. Just leave me be" Chris said as he finished another glass of beer. Curt rolled his eyes.

"Whatever you say pansy ass. Drink, drink and continue drinking your sorrows away. I hope that hangover hurts like a bitch" Curt said bluntly. Chris shrugged and began drinking directly from the bottle. "And for the record I have been rejected before" Curt said only to be once again stared at blankly by Chris. "Well, I might as tomorrow. well not let this night go to waste, I will see you when I see you Chris" Curt said standing up leaving Chris at the table. He made sure to tip one of the bouncers nearby in order fir him to keep an eye on Chris and call him if or should he say when he starts doing something stupid.

"I hope Kendra's having better luck with Sunny than I am here." Curt said to himself as he made his way towards an attractive redhead who was ordering a drink.

Meanwhile...

"...again I ask, what the fuck is she doing here?" Shawn asked still glaring at Kendra. If looks could kill... well she won't be dead but probably really hurt.

"Shawn this isn't about her. Chris dumped me. He found out about us" Sunny said bursting into tears once more. Shawn looked back and forth from Sunny to Kendra noticing Kendra's slight uneasiness. He narrowed his eyes at her before ultimately turning over to Sunny who ran into his arms.

"It's alright uhh... babe..." Shawn shivered inwardly as he said that word. It felt odd addressing Sunny like that. "...c'mon let's get you back to the hotel." He said motioning for her to stand up. "Your car's here right?" Sunny nodded wiping the tears away from her eyes before standing up and handing Shawn the keys.

Kendra stood there awkwardly shifting from foot to foot unsure of what to say or do next. "Uhh... is it okay if uh... if you could give me a ride?"

"Get a cab" Shawn snapped glaring at her. Kendra was stunned but going back to how she had treated him, she was not surprised. "C'mon Sunny" He said wrapping his arms around Sunny and guiding her out of the building.

"Oh Shawn give her a... oh God I think I'm gonna be sick" Sunny said suddenly feeling nauseous and rushing to the nearest exit possibly to hurl her guts out. Shawn face palmed shaking his head. Tonight was definitely not his night.

"Oh God, why me?" He mumbled to himself not really pleased with having to deal with a drunk and heartbroken Sunny. He momentarily glanced at Kendra who was was dialing on her phone looking frustrated. Not to mention tired and kinda stressed out. "But still as beautiful as ever" Shawn mumbled to himself.

He quickly shook off that thought and sighed. He was getting too soft for his own good nowadays. It couldn't be good for him but oh well.

"Actually Kendy uh... I mean... Kendra..." Shawn started as she looked up at him with tired brown eyes. "You can ride with us. I'll drop both you girls off"

Kendra smiled utterly relieved. "Thanks Shawn" She said shyly. He pressed his lips into a thin line in response. "Now I think we have to check up on Sunny." Kendra said walking ahead of him. Shawn rolled his eyes.

"Of course, let's go check up on Sunny. Yay." Shawn sighed walking relatively slower than Kendra as he made his way out of the building. He went outside to see Kendra holding Sunny's hair up while the blonde puked her guts out. "Jeez, how drunk was she?" Shawn asked disgust with a dash of pity written on his face.

"I have no idea, but I guess it's the pain of heartbreak" Kendra asked with a shrug as she helped Sunny up only for her to pass out midway almost falling to the floor. But thankfully she didn't as she was held up by Kendra. "Great, she passed out! Care to help?"

"Uh... sure" Shawn said swooping Sunny up bridal style. "Where's her car?"

"Over there" Kendra said pointing to the left side of the parking lot as they made their way there. "Where're the keys Shawn?"

"In my back pocket, hold up let me put her down or if you could just..."

"Put her down, I'll keep her steady" Kendra said trying to fight the embarrassing smile and possibly a blush that was coming up to her face. Luckily for her, Shawn didn't realize as he opened the car door in order for them to put Sunny inside. "So should we lie her down or sit her up straight?"

"Sit her up straight and fasten the seat belt you know so that she won't fall or something" Shawn decided. "Back seat" He said almost subconsciously. Kendra looked at him weirdly.

"Weren't we already doing that?" She asked. He ignored her question as they set Sunny in a sitting position and fastened a seat belt on her. "Done"

"Yep, well after you" Shawn said opening the passengers seat for her with a smile. His smile suddenly dropped when a tiny familiar voice rang in his head 'she has a boyfriend you idiot. Go back to hating her' Right. "Uh... I mean, get in before I leave you here" He said. 'better' that voice said once again.

He must be really tired.

Kendra on the other hand got into the front seat quickly as she didn't feel like spending the night in a parking lot. She also noticed the way Shawn's emotions seemed to be flipping like a switch from hot to cold, nice to mean and she knew she couldn't blame anyone else but herself. If only she wasn't so mean to him. And she still hadn't apologized cause he hadn't given her the chance. But...

She was cut off from her thoughts as she heard the door on Shawn's side swing open and shut. Then he turned on the ignition and soon they were in motion on their way to the hotel.

Well if there was a perfect time to tell him she was sorry, it was now wasn't it? Not minding the circumstances. She took a deep breath.

"Shawn...?" She called out.

"What?" He spat.

"I just wanted to tell you that I'm so..." She was just on that word when she felt a buzzing in her pocket followed by Curt's theme song.

Don't you just love coincidences?

Shawn gave her a weird look making her smile nervously. "I swear, he was the one who changed the ringtone. You know how crazy Curt is"

"I don't care" Shawn said simply keeping his eyes back on the road. Kendra sighed.

"Of course you don't" She replied as she pressed the answer button on the call she assumed was Curt as she didn't even check caller ID beforehand.

"Hey, how are you doing? Were you able to handle the Sunny situation without my help?" Curt asked.

"Uh yeah, I'm fine" Kendra said glancing over at Shawn who seemed to be in deep thought. "Yeah. I'm just fine. I've got it all under control... Alone. All by myself" She said purposely leaving Shawn's name out of it. And by the look on his face when he glanced at her, she could tell he was a little bothered by it but nonetheless he stayed quiet.

"Well, that is good to hear. I on the other hand had a terrible time babysitting Chris. He's piss drunk and he's just been spouting out nonsense nonstop so naturally I perfect plexed him. He's unconscious now by the way. So how did you manage with Sunny?" Kendra's mouth was wide open in shock. Why would Curt say he gave someone a perfect plex so... naturally?

"Curt are you fucking alright? Why would you give the guy you were supposed to be taking care of a perfect plex?" She could hear Shawn snickering. It was funny, NOT.

"Like I said he's been so annoying throughout this night and I was chatting up a cute girl and he just came and started saying only God knows what. I got the girl's number though but just think about how he could've ruined it for me. You can say hi if you want though, she's right here."

"Oh my God" Kendra said rubbing her head in a frustrated manner. "Yeah say hi to her for me, whatever. Just make sure you get Chris back to his room safely. Whatever you do afterwards is none of my business." She knew Curt was rolling his eyes on the other end while Shawn on the flip side looked like he was quite amused. "Also remind me never to put you in charge of anything this serious again, 'tu comprends?'"

"Hey, you're not French Canadian"

"Oh my God!" She took a deep breath in attempt to calm herself down. "Bye Curt!" She was about to hang up the phone when she heard him talking on the other line.

"Wait..."

"Oh what now?"

I love you" He said amidst chuckles. She rolled her eyes for what could have been the twentieth time that night. Stupid Curt. Always pissing her off.

"I love you too Curt." She said before finally ending the call.

"You're an interesting pair alright" Shawn said with a small smile. "And we're here." Shawn said pulling into the parking lot. Kendra let out a breath of relief.

"Finally this night is coming to an end" She mumbled.

"Technically true. It's almost morning anyways." Shawn said as he took a look at his digital watch. 11:36, it boldly read. Kendra gave a little smirk but said nothing as she went over to the back seat and opened the door. Shawn was right behind her as he unbuckled Sunny's seat belt and carried her up bridal style.

"Any idea where her room is, or her card?" Shawn asked. Kendra shook her head no. "Of course you don't. So where were you planning on keeping her all smart and wise Kendra" Shawn said. He couldn't tell if he was being sarcastic, teasing her, both or possibly neither.

"I was planning on keeping her in my room"

"You have two beds?" Shawn asked. She shook her head no.

"I have a couch though, I was thinking I'll just stay there" Kendra reasoned. Shawn shook his head.

"No, that won't work, I'm taking her to my room then, 3008, the key should be in my pocket. Get it and let's start going" Kendra nodded as she did exactly what he said and soon enough, slowly and steadily, they got to Shawn's room. And then another problem arose. "Kendra she smells like puke, I can't stay there!" Shawn exclaimed letting out a choked out breath. Kendra giggled.

"Don't worry, you just wait right there. I have spare clothes you can help her change into and we are almost the same size, I'll bring them over"

"Nah, you've overworked yourself today, I'll follow you to your room and you just give me there" Kendra gave him a puzzled look. "I'm trying to help you here"

"Yeah... thanks. Well right this way, my room is at the end of the corridor" She said. He nodded and they walked over there in awkward silence until they finally got there. "Um... it might take a while, you're free to come inside" Shawn nodded stepping in as Kendra shut the door behind them. "I'll get straight to searching" She told him but noticed his eyes were not on her. Instead they were scanning the whole room and she had a pretty good idea why he was.

"So, how do you manage to afford hotel rooms all the time instead of like, I dunno rooming with someone? You're only an intern after all" Shawn said but once the words came out of his mouth he realized how rude he came off. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to sound..."

"It's fine. And actually you're kinda right but Bret is the one who pays for my rooms. I'm not complaining anyways" She said with a shrug.

Shawn felt awkward wondering if he'd indirectly insulted her or anything so he just decided to remain silent for the time being with the only sound in the room being Kendra's rummaging through her luggage in an attempt to find something comfortable yet appropriate for Sunny to wear. Shawn didn't even realize he was staring at her until he heard her clear her throat.

"Yes?" He asked snapping himself out of his mini daze.

"I found something for her to wear." Kendra said handing Shawn a white t-shirt and pink sweatpants. Shawn nodded standing up from her couch. He rubbed the back of his head.

"Thanks, I should be taking my leave now, gotta let you have your beauty sleep" He said chuckling. Kendra laughed nervously too and bit her lip. It was obvious to Shawn that she had something she wanted to say and he wasn't wrong.

"Listen Shawn, before you go, I just want to tell you how sorry I am for snapping at you that time. It's really been eating me up inside and I can tell you were pissed at me and honestly I feel I deserved it but for now, I just wanted to say I'm sorry" She said. To say Shawn was confused was a huge understatement.

Why would she think he was mad at her for that? He was though but for completely different reasons.

"I wasn't mad at you for that Kendra, hell I wasn't mad at all, I was just..." Shawn started but mumbled the rest under his breath incoherently.

"What? I didn't even hear a thing you..."

"I was jealous okay?!" He blurted out. "There I said it!"

"Say what now? Jealous? Of what exactly? Am I missing something?" Kendra asked chuckling slightly. Though thoroughly confused, she found it amusing. Shawn groaned.

"God, stop toying with me Kendra" Shawn said plopping down on the couch holding his head in somewhat embarrassment and a bit frustration. "I know all about you and your boyfriend"

It was then Kendra's smile dropped and she seriously began to question Shawn's mental state. Again, was she missing something?

"Shawn I literally have no idea what you're talking about. I don't have a boyfriend"

"No, it's alright. I get it you didn't wanna go out with me cause you already have someone and it's fine. But you should have at least told me or something"

"Are you even listening to me Shawn? I don't have a... you know what I wanna know where you heard this from let me know whose ass to kick" She said crossing her hands over her chest.

"Well you can go ahead and kick your own ass cause I heard it straight outta the horse's mouth. In this case you. You see it's a metaphor and you are the..."

"I know what it means yeah yeah, it's more of an idiom not a metaphor. But anyways, you Shawn Michaels, are crazy! There I said it. What do you mean straight outta the horse's mouth? I don't have a fucking boyfriend. Hell I haven't even dated anyone since I was sixteen. Not that it concerns you anyways" She said with a slight glare.

"But I heard you on the phone with your mom talking about some guy what was his name...? Ethan? No, Elias... no, Elijah yes. I just figured out he was..." Shawn stopped mid sentence when he noticed the color drain from Kendra's face. "...are you alright?" She didn't answer and just kept on staring at him... well, not at him more like into space. She seemed to be in a some sorts. "Kendra!" Shawn called out standing up and snapping his fingers in front of her face.

"Huh, yeah" That did it. "Umm, right... Elijah"

"Are you alright?" He asked subconsciously reaching out to touch her shoulder out of concern when she flinched. "Sorry, I just wanted to..."

"What exactly did you hear Shawn?" Kendra asked.

"You were talking about how great he is and well that's just it. I felt kinda mad, well really and I just walked away" Shawn said with a nervous chuckle as he rubbed the back of his neck. "Actually sounds quite stupid when you say it out loud doesn't it?"

"Shawn..."

"I mean, I know I have no right to be I mean you're not my girlfriend or anything and you haven't been stringing me on"

"Shawn..."

"But dammit, you could've just said 'Okay Shawn, I can't date you because I have a boyfriend regardless of ow ridiculously sexy you are'." Kendra gave a small smile hinting she was amused. "So you see, easy as pie." Shawn said.

"Okay, are you done talking now? Can I say what I wanna say without getting interrupted?" She asked. He smirked and nodded. "Good. First of all, I think if you wanna eavesdrop on an extremely private conversation either don't, or at least do it right. I said a whole lot of things after that but no, you just hang on the one implicating thing I said and next thing I know you're angry"

"I said I realized how stupid I was acted but can you blame me?" Kendra gave him a 'really' look. "Okay I guess you can. It's just when you were acting all crabby and everything, I just suspected something was wrog with you and I only wanted to help and that's how I ended up listening in on your conversation. I And now I just made a fool outta myself which in itself is great" Shawn said. "Well, I guess I'll just get outta your hair now." He said as he made his way to the door. He was just about to open the door when he was stopped by Kendra who looked a bit unsure of what she wanted to do next, but... why not?

"Yeah we all act stupid sometimes, but at the end of the day all this is my fault for acting like a total bitch to you when you didn't even do anything wrong and I'm sorry. Also I feel I owe you for this so I'll just put this out there." Kendra said taking a deep breath. "Elijah is my ex and again this doesn't concern you but we ended our relationship on an incredibly bad note. My mom was just calling to check up on me regarding how I feel about him being released from jail. I was just out of it for a while which is why I acted the way I did so... there's that" Kendra said looking visibly calm possibly relieved that all that was off her chest.

"I really didn't know I mean that is such great..." Kendra looked at him like he'd suddenly grown two heads as he refrained from saying what he really wanted to say. "...I mean, terrible news. I hope you're okay though" She shrugged looking at the floor.

"I'm alright. I have and I always will be. Anyways, I felt I just owed you an explanation and once again I'm sorry" Her voice was full of remorse but her eyes were still focused on the floor. Shawn didn't mind though. It seemed to be a touchy subject for her and in a way, he was honored that she felt comfortable enough to share it with him.

"As I am, so friends?" He offered his arms outstretched for a hug. She slowly pulled her eyes up from the ground to meet his. "Don't leave me hanging"

"Friends" She said giving into his hug. It lasted for like three seconds but it felt nice.

Yeah, nice.

"Well, I'm having a bit o Deja Vu, we have done this whole friendship, fighting and making up thing before and here we are again" Shawn pointed out.

"Well, let's just hope this is the last time we do this." She said yawning all of a sudden. "That's right, I have to sleep"

"Gotcha, as do I" Shawn said getting the clothes for Sunny off the couch. "Goodnight'

"Ditto" Kendra said plopping right down on the bed as Shawn shook his head in amusement and exited the room.

This night was a bit of a emotional roller coaster for him and he definitely didn't expect it to end the way it did. Though one thing kept ringing in his head after all this;

He still had a chance.

What else could I be? All Apologies...

Well, that is a wrap once again for both Chapter 16 and the never ending day that cut across three chapters. Really I've never written a day in the story that lasted this long normally it's like on chapter per day and all that sorts. Anywho...

Kendra and Shawn made up. Yay for them. Only God knows what's next in store for those two and what's next with Elijah? Well, we'll find out as this book progresses. Please don't forget to follow and favorite if you haven't yet and please review. I'd also love to hear your thoughts on what irection I should take with the story. All ideas would be considered. See you guys in Chapter 17!

And always remember to stay safe and let's keep praying that our world will see better days. Amen.
