AUTHOR'S NOTE: What's up darling readers?
I know it's been forever since I updated this book and I'm sorry. I have writer's block with a pinch of laziness :( but I will try my best so do so more often. As usual before we start, I'd love to thank everyone who's been supporting my story so far. You guys are amazing and I hope you enjoy this chapter.
(I'd also love to do a little extra advertising for my new story "Here Comes The Monnie". Try it out!)
WARNING: This story may contain triggering scenes and strong language not meant for all audiences. Viewer discretion is advised. (I love to get that outta the way)
DISCLAIMER: I do not own any of these characters except my OC Kendra and other OC's I might have forgotten to mention. This story is a pure work of fiction (hence its written on) and most of the events and facts are completely made up so... I guess that's it.
Chapter 18 - You'd Never Expect
"Can we talk?" Kendra asked rubbing her hands together nervously as she stared at the man in front of her.
"Sure. That is if your brother doesn't come here and threaten to report me to my dad" Shane said with a little laugh.
"Shane that's not fair." She said not willing to waste another moment knowing Russo could be up to no good anytime soon. Shane stared blankly at her for a few seconds. "C'mon Shane, whatever we need to thrash out we will do it later but I really need your help. Please?" She pleaded. Shane looked into her eyes and saw that she was disturbed. He quickly became serious.
"Okay fine. You're right. I'm sorry" He said. Kendra was surprised that went as smoothly as it did but nonetheless she was pleased.
"Thank you"
"Alright. So what's up? What's gotten you all shaken up?" He said taking a note of the fact that she looked a bit petrified even though she tried to remain calm. "Are you alright?" He asked filled with concern.
"Well it's..."
"Shane!" A tiny female voice called out from far away interrupting Kendra midsentence.
Seriously? She figure this kind of timely yet comical interruption only happened in movies or books or something. What did she do to the universe?
"Shane! Where have you been?! Daddy's been looking for you everywhere" A curly haired brunette yelled making Shane cringe at the intensity of her voice. Wait did she say Daddy?
"Yeah, I was making my way there. I was just preoccupied as you can see" Shane said gesturing over to Kendra. "By the way Steph, meet my friend... Kendra Hart. Kendra, this is my darling, beautiful..."
"Yeah yeah I'm Stephanie, Shane's sister. Now get going Shane! Daddy's waiting and you know what happens when he gets mad. Time is money Shane!" Stephanie yelled. Shane rolled his eyes but nodded.
"We'll meet up after the show Kendra. I'll call you this time" Shane said referencing the last time they were supposed to meet up.
"Oh God no" Kendra cursed under he breath as she watched him walk away. She hoped she had enough time to discuss with Shane after the show. Her career was practically a ticking time bomb ready to blow at any moment.
"So..." Stephanie asked scrutinizing Kendra critically.
Oh what now?
"So... Hart? You related to any of the Hart's here?" Stephanie asked narrowing her eyes at Kendra.
"Uh... yeah. I am."
"Interesting. So you know my brother's married right?" What the hell?! Oh so that explains the sudden attitude from her. It was almost funny. Kendra had to stifle a giggle. "I'm sorry, I didn't know I was so amusing"
"No you aren't. I mean you are. Cause what you said was funny. But either way trust me, I'm not hanging out with your brother because I wanna date him or anything, eww. Hell we are barely friends. I just needed to... explain something to him" She said taking a notable pause between 'to' and 'explain'
Stephanie searched Kendra's face for any form of deceit. She found nada. So she was convinced Kendra was telling the truth. Her attitude did a complete 180 and she beamed up with a smile.
"Good! By the way, I'm Stephanie Marie McMahon. Born and raised in Hartford, Connecticut. I'm currently in college, studying communication but daddy's making me work in customer care for the rest of the summer. Also I'm nineteen but I'll be twenty in September. My favorite color is fiery red. Nice to meet you" She blabbed on excitedly stretching out her hand for a handshake.
Yikes.
Kendra didn't know which was scarier, angry Stephanie or happy Stephanie. And she didn't understand why the hell she felt so intimidated by a teenager. But nonetheless, she decided to reciprocate the sudden warmness.
"Okay. I'm Kendra Charlene Hart. Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. I studied creative writing in college and I work as an intern for the creative team. For now" She mumbled the part inaudibly. "And I'm twenty three, birthday's in June and... yeah. My favorite color's midnight blue. The pleasure is mine" She said shaking the hand of Stephanie.
"You seem awesome. So we're friends now. Sorry for being rude earlier on, I just like looking out for my family especially my brother. You understand right?" Stephanie asked.
"Do I? You're talking to a girl with twelve siblings, tons of nieces, nephews and in-laws and not to mention all those people I can't even explain how I am related to them but I still am. Family comes first sister" Kendra said making Stephanie giggle.
"You're funny"
"I know. And of course there's all those wrestlers who come for Thanksgiving and Christmas every year..."
"I know right" Stephanie jumped in cutting Kendra off. "Story of my life. The thing is some of them were cute but Daddy never allowed me to date any of them. I mean the younger ones. And most of them were scared to anyway. Cowards" Kendra burst into laughter.
"I agree. Hell, when I was a teenager some of them were around my age and I actually almost dated one of them but..." Kendra stopped midsentence when noticed Stephanie looking at her with eager eyes waiting for what juicy detail she would reveal. "...I'm leaving it there. Sorry but I'm not gonna tell"
"What? No fair" Stephanie said with a little disappointment but she got over it quickly.
"Sorry. Maybe some other time."
"Maybe." Stephanie said quickly beaming up again. "Anyways, I've gotta run. I really shouldn't be away from the customer care line for too long. Who knows what teenage Shawn Michaels fan would like to jump at his bones this time?"
"What the hell?" Kendra asked, holding back laughter.
"Oh really. It's an interesting world. Anyways, it was nice meeting you Kendra."
"Same with you. We should hang out sometime" Kendra said. She grew fond of the girl within a short time. Stephanie nodded.
"Duh. But would you at least give me the name of the guy you almost hooked up with? Pretty please?" Stephanie asked trying out her puppy dog eyes. And failing.
"Nice try. But I don't give it up that soon. Like I said, later." Kendra said. Stephanie let out a tired groan which made Kendra giggle.
"Fine. Just this once. Anyways see ya!" Stephanie said before walking away. Kendra smiled. The McMahon's were something alright.
However, at this point in time she had bigger fish to fry. She had to save her job. Or you know get one... An internship wasn't really a job but whatever you all get the gist. And while Shane wasn't available at the moment, she knew another person who could possibly be of help.
But she wasn't crazy about asking the person.

"...is the coast clear?" Shawn whispered to X-Pac as he hid behind a wall. The dark haired man looked left and right before affirming that Shawn was safe. "Oh thank goodness" He said coming out of his hiding place breathing heavily.
"Wow man" X-Pac commented roaring with laughter at Shawn's antics.
"You think this is funny?"
"It's amusing. The way you're going through extreme measures to make sure Sunny doesn't talk to you. She's gonna know what's up. Break up with her already!"
"I know. I know, I'm working on it!" Shawn groaned.
Truth is, ever since Sunny and Chris broke up the girl had been a mess. Her emotions and hormones were all over the place (moreso than usual) and she wanted to be with Shawn twenty four seven. If he didn't know better he'd say she wanted to date him.
And he wanted nothing to do with her anymore. His focus was on Kendra but he had no idea if he'd ever get together with her. She was nice to him and all but she didn't seem to reciprocate his feelings and it frustrated him to no end.
Plus, Undertaker basically left him to dry because he didn't think Shawn was serious. Shawn didn't blame him though, he did give off that impression unknowingly.
"She just wants to date me and I don't like her like that. Or at all. Plus I really feel bad about doing that to Chris. It wasn't worth it" Shawn said with a pang of guilt.
"Regret, shmegret..."
"That's a great rhyme" Shawn complimented.
"I know right. Anyways, don't be so hard on yourself at least you're not the cheater or... the only one she's cheating on him with" Shawn almost choked. He began to cough repeatedly.
"Excuse me what now?"
"Oh yeah, I heard from a secret source..."
"You and you're gossip sources X-Pac. Never fail to amuse me" Shawn said with a slight chuckle.
"It's what happens when you're friends with almost everyone in the company" X-Pac said proudly.
"Oh you must be so proud" Shawn commented sarcastically. "Anyways, what's the scoop?"
"Davey"
"Boy Smith?" Shawn asked with a tiny bit of confusion.
"Know any other one?" X-Pac asked. Before Shawn could speak up, from a distance he noticed a frantic looking Kendra walk past them and turning left heading into another corridor. He was suddenly on alert, was she in trouble? He desperately wanted to follow her but it would make X-Pac suspicious especially when he claimed to be 'over' her. "Hello, earth to Shawn?"
"Huh? Yeah. Right. So, Davey how... random"
"You didn't hear it from me but trust me it'll blow up soon. It's only a matter of time" X-Pac said.
"Hmm, that would be too bad but meh, I don't really care much for anyone related to Bret" Shawn said with a lazy yawn. X-Pac coughed.
"Right, you don't" He said with a knowing smirk.
"Hey, I don't. I got over that likes forever ago" Shawn said.
"Hey, hey. I didn't say anything. Really I didn't. Hell, I even wanted to ask her out myself" X-Pac teased. Shawn raised an eyebrow knowing X-Pac was joking but the man was every bit of a ladies man as he was. "I'm kidding geez"
"I knew that. But like I said, I don't care."
"If you say so. But honestly, you should talk to Sunny soon and stop avoiding her. Do so or she might snap and it would be disastrous for everyone of us, starting with you. Capiche?"
"Definitely. I will try my best to. The last thing I need is a crazy person with a target on my back" Shawn said as the two guys shared a laugh.
In time he was gonna be right about that but not in the way anyone would expect.

Kendra looked around frantically for the person she knew could help her. She wasn't too crazy about it but she knew it was her only choice. She really didn't wanna leave the WWF especially on account of a self entitled asshole like Vince Russo.
After a few minutes of searching and asking questions, she finally found him outside in the parking lot. So she took a deep breath and made her way towards him but unfortunately for her, he wasn't alone. He was talking to a certain... man. Soon enough, the both of them were made aware of her presence.
"Well, well, well, who do we have here" Billy Gunn mocked. She took a deep breath in and tried to calm down her discomfort and fear. After all she wasn't here to talk to Billy.
"Bret please, I need to talk to you" She said in a quiet voice completely ignoring Billy. Bret who was glaring at her previously, softened his glare when he noticed she didn't seem too alright.
"What is..."
"Hey, are you purposely ignoring me now?" Billy asked with a smirk cutting Bret off. Kendra kept on acting like he wasn't there and focused all her attention on Bret but Bret focused his on Billy.
"What's going on?" Bret asked with a raised eyebrow as he eyed Billy confusedly.
"Bret I really need to talk to you, can I borrow like five minutes please?" Kendra pleaded completely ignoring Billy once again. Seriously could he just leave there already?
"Ooh, so its Bret now? Had no idea you'd move on so fast. Shame really. I really miss the taste of those lips" Billy said licking his lips mockingly.
Oh no.
"WHAT?!" Bret yelled out anger glaringly present in his voice. Kendra couldn't even make any comment because she was frozen with her mouth agape. Why in the hell would he say that?
"Oh yeah, hell I got to second base who knows where I could have gotten with that..." Bret didn't wait to hear any more as he violently grabbed Billy by the collar and slammed in into the side of his own rental shattering some windows in the process. Kendra gasped but was still frozen as all these things were happening so fast.
"What the hell man? I get it she's your bitch now, sorry if I..." Billy was silenced with a hard hitting bone crushing punch straight to the jaw. It made a crunching sound and Kendra could have sworn she saw a tooth fly out. After all he'd almost done it before.
"You motherfucking bastard! How dare you talk about my sister that way?! And how dare you do all of that to her? Huh?!" The look of pure horror on Billy's face was priceless.
"Shit! I had no idea she was your sister man! It was all because of V..." Billy could barely get another word in when Bret wrapped his two arms around the blond man's throat ad began to strangle him as he laced his arms around Billy's throat and began to strangle him. The reality of this situation finally snapped Kendra out of her daze as she suddenly became fully aware of what was going on and it was not good. There was a high chance that Bret would kill Billy.
After all he almost did something like this once...
"Bret please stop! Think about your job! Think about our family! You could fucking go to jail!" She screamed pulling at Bret trying to get him to release Billy whose face was turning a nice shade of purple.
Bret grunted not really ready to let his now former friend go. "This fucker needs to be dealt with so I suggest you stay outta my way" He said tightening his grip around Billy's neck.
"Bret please stop!" Kendra screamed but it fell on deaf ears once more. She knew she had to do something that would snap Bret out of his crazy mood and she had just the idea. "Stop Bret!" She screamed out as she pulled at Bret's hair forcefully making her brother scream out in pain letting Billy go with the Blond man dropping to the concrete hard ground surviving within an inch of his life.
"Why the hell did you do that to me?" He asked quietly placing his hair back in order and trying to overcome the pain that accompanied it.
"Because you were gonna kill him" She said. Coincidentally enough that was exactly when Billy regained back his somewhat strength and stood up from the ground losing balance.
"I will now if he doesn't GET OUT!" Bret said making Billy scurry out of there not willing to take the risk. An angry Bret Hart who had just tried to kill him was not one to falter his words. "And stay away from my sister!" He called out.
"Listen Bret..." Kendra started.
"No you listen to me. What was the one rule I set as you got this internship. WHAT WAS IT?!" He spat out trying to control his anger which he failed at doing. Kendra was paralyzed with fear and couldn't respond. Bret laughed sarcastically. "Oh I see cat got your tongue and it's fine. Probably from all the lip locking with Gunn! How could you?!"
"Bret please let me explain. He was the one that..."
"Save all that. To refresh your memory, the one rule I set was never to get involved with any of the guys in this company. Do you remember?"
"I have a lot to explain please just hear me out" She cried on. Bret chuckled.
"The sad thing is that I'm just trying to protect you but you take it for granted and comfortably whore yourself out. Even after everything you have dealt with. You never learn do you?" He asked. She didn't reply as her eyes brimmed with tears at him bringing that up. Why would he?
"I... you know what I'll show you instead" She said as she reached into her pockets for the recorder. Her eyes widened in shock when she noticed it was longer present. It must have fallen out on her way. Oh no what if it fell into the wrong hands?!
"Well...? Are you done?" Bret asked letting out a frustrated sigh when she didn't respond. "You know what, I think I need to get all what I'm trying to tell you through your thick skull one way or another. And I know the perfect way to"
"Bret...?"
Meanwhile...
"...and he still won't talk to me. I've really don it this time. I don't know what else to do to make him forgive me" Sunny cried on burying her head into Shawn's chest.
This was his life now he guessed.
"Listen Sunny, maybe you guys are not just meant to be. I mean you did cheat on him" Shawn said being he was hit with a pang of guilt as he uttered those words out.
"Yeah but... I still love him! I've always done!" She cried on and on. Shawn groaned. It's not like he wasn't in the mood to have this 'chat' with Sunny but he needed to be somewhere else. He had something important to do. "And I have no idea how he even found out about us"
You know that was actually a good question. But Shawn didn't really care. He just needed to leave already. Nonetheless, he decided to give her a little piece of advice knowing that this was also his fault.
"Listen Tammy..." She looked up at him surprised at him using her real name. "...you love Chris then just go ahead ad tell him that and explain whatever you need to. He loves you so much and even if he doesn't take you back at least you'll have closure"
"It's not that easy. I mean there's still us and..."
"Let me stop you right there missy. There is no us. If you're really serious about getting back together with Chris you'll agree that you need to call this off!" Sunny's eyes widened.
"What? No! What are you saying?!"
"You know exactly what I'm saying. I'm sorry but it's over! We had fun but I can't keep on living like this. Your relationship matters more"
"You weren't saying that when you made the first move on me" Sunny spat her sadness slowly becoming anger.
"Yeah, I'll admit that. But this time I'm making things right. It's over Tammy" Shawn said coolly. Sunny honestly looked like she was about to blow any second but then she just burst into laughter. Scary and disturbing laughter. "What?"
"If there's one person I know very well Shawn, it's you. This has nothing to do with us or me or even Chris. You've been planning this for a long time haven't you? You've been looking for the perfect excuse you... you coward!" She yelled shoving him slightly.
"Listen I have no idea what you're talking about. I know this breakup has been hard on you but..."
"No! I'm perfectly sane don't worry about me. This is all about her isn't it?" Sunny asked literally spitting out fire. Shawn raised an eyebrow as his heart began to pound for reasons he didn't know.
"Who? I have no idea what you're talking about"
"I'm not blind Shawn. This is all about her. I've known for a long time. It's gonna bite you in the ass Shawn cause we both know she feels nothing for you!" Sunny yelled. Shawn never thought about it before but right now her voice was getting a little annoying.
"Sunny you're delusional and crazy. This conversation is over and so are we. Have a good night" Shawn said turning around and walking away from her trying not to let her words get to him. It was really hard.
"She will never feel anything for you Shawn! Never!" That was the last thing he heard from Sunny that night before he was finally out of hearing distance.
Right now he could care less about Sunny or whatever it is she said. He had a goal in mind and he was going to achieve it as quick as possible. Soon enough he spotted his target whom he had been after from the moment h saw her looking distressed while he was talking to X-Pac. He made his way towards her noticing that she was on the phone and had her back turned at him.
"...what more can I do? I've lost the voice recorder meaning I can't tell Shane. I have no more evidence" She said in a shaky voice to whoever she was talking to on the phone. "Yeah right, like I could go to Vince myself. He'd maul me" What was she talking about? "I guess WCW is the option now. But it's just the stories I've heard... especially when I'm a woman. Maybe I could apply for ECW?" Was she planning to leave the company?
Shawn knew she wouldn't appreciate him eavesdropping on her obviously very private conversation but he couldn't help it. Not at this time.
"Yeah I'll sleep on it. Love you too Curt. Goodnight" Curt? He knew they were close but... no. They were just close friends. Anyways now would probably be the best time to reveal himself.
"Hi Kendra" He spoke making the woman jump with fear nearly losing her balance. She also dropped her phone which luckily Shawn curt in the nick of time. "Sorry for starling you. Here's your phone back." He said handing it back to her.
"Uh... thanks. But please never do that again. My heart nearly jumped outta my chest" She said with a small laugh. Shawn was about to laugh along with her when he noticed something on her face. "What? What are you staring at?"
"Whoa it looks like you have a black eye forming. Are you alright? Where did you get from?" He asked in a caring manner.
"What?!" She exclaimed clearly in shock before regaining her composure. "Oh, I must have walked into a door or something. Nothing to it" She said barely convincing herself.
"You were perfectly fine when we talked earlier and I'm pretty sure that is from a pun..."
"So what's up?" She asked quickly changing the subject. Shawn didn't fail to notice what she did but he decided to humor her.
"Nothing much. I just spotted you earlier you looked disturbed so I came to check up on you."
"Wow. I appreciate that but I'm okay now." She said with a small smile. "Thanks for caring" She said sincerely.
"Kendra I know something is wrong. I heard what you said on the phone. Are you planning on leaving? What's wrong?" She groaned.
"Shawn, you know eavesdropping isn't cool" She said folding her arms over her chest and glaring at him. Shawn kept a straight expression and stared back at her. They locked eyes for a while before Kendra finally cracked the ice. "Okay fine. Something is wrong. Everything you heard was true and yes I might leave the WWF soon" She said dejectedly.
"Why?"
"You'd never understand, trust me" She said.
"Try me. It may surprise you" Shawn encouraged. Kendra gave a slight chuckle at his optimism.
"No it won't Shawn, just forget it okay?" She said looking at the ground.
"Kendra..."
"Shawn please" She said keeping her eyes fixed to the ground not wanting to look up to meet his fearing that she would spill everything. Shawn remained quiet for a while but then spoke up.
"What's your middle name Kendra?" Shawn asked. It was then she looked up at him with confusion. "What is it?"
"Charlene. Why are you asking?" She asked. He chuckled and brought out from his pocket a shiny silvery metal device with the initials 'K.C.H'. Kendra gasped when she realized it was her voice recorder!
"Now do you believe me when I tell you I understand?" He asked with a sad smile.
And that's a wrap up.
Writers' block is a disease you know. I literally started this chapter a month ago. But anyways, here we are now. What do you think will happen next? Only way to know is to keep an eye out for the next chapter.
Thanks for getting this book to over a hundred reviews. Honestly I never thought I could reach that amount and it gives me more zeal to read. You guys are the best and I really appreciate it. Please continue to show support. Thank you.
As always stay safe homies, lots of love 3.
