Chapter 32 - All's Fair In Love And War

"Kevin, my man!" Hunter exclaimed as the two men share a manly hug. "How's it been? My, my have you become shorter or is it just me?"

"You really wanna talk Hunter?" X-Pac said.

"Do you really wanna talk Waltman?" Hunter asked as all the guys laughed.

"It sure feels good to have the Kliq back together again" Kevin said. "And hey, the show's almost over. What do you say we head over to a bar, grab some drinks. Who's down with that?" Kevin suggested.

"Add some chicks and I'm game" X-Pac joked. "Am I right Shawn?" Shawn gave no response as he was busy packing up his bags. "Shawn?" Shawn gave no response once again as he got his phone out and sent a text.

Meet me in the parking lot in 10. I have a Kliq situation I need to avert - Shawn.

Alright Shawn, I'll be waiting - Kendra.

"Earth to Shawn freaking Michaels!" Hunter yelled snapping Shawn out of his daze.

"Yeah. What's up guys?" Shawn asked calmly making it quite obvious that he hadn't been paying attention to anything they had said all this time. Scott, Hunter and X-Pac all face palmed while Kevin laughed.

"Is he always like this?" Scott asked.

"That and worse my friend. He has these episodes of blanking out. It's so anno... he's doing it again, isn't he?" X-Pac asked as he looked over at Shawn. "What is so important about that phone anyways?"

This caught Shawn's attention as he quickly turned off his phone and shoved it in his pocket. He knew these guys better than anyone and wouldn't put it past them to try to steal his phone and snoop through it.

"Hey no fair, I wanted to steal your phone and snoop through it" X-Pac whined. See. He knew his friends.

"Anyways, at least say you're coming to get drinks with us this night" Kevin said.

"And chicks. It can't just be me and Scott picking up chicks. You have to be part. C'mon" X-Pac egged.

"Actually..." Scott started but was cut off by Shawn.

"Actually, I have plans" Shawn said.

"What?" Hunter and X-Pac exclaimed.

"Oh come on man" X-Pac groaned. "Don't bail on us. This is the Kliq. This is us. Don't leave us hanging"

"Yeah, what's so important anyways?" Kevin asked. Shawn shook his head.

"It's personal and not that important anyways. You guys have fun. We can do this another night. Maybe tomorrow" Shawn said. Giving the others no time to object he quickly dashed out of Hunter's locker room as the rest of them tried to process what had just occurred.

"Well, it won't be just as fun with four guys but we can make it work. The glorious foursome!" Triple H egged trying to cheer both himself and his friends up.

"Can you not call it that idiot?" Scott said with a smile. "And I'm with Shawn. Plus, I wanna see if I can score with a girl this night" Scott said.

"Oh come on" X-Pac groaned. "Which girl? Is banging a girl that important to... okay, yes it is. But there'll be tonnes of them at the club" X-Pac said. Scott laughed but shook his head.

"Oh definitely but this one... she's a real case. Also, she fucking slapped me and I didn't go after her. If anything I deserve to fuck her at least a couple of times don't you think?" Scott asked. The other guys nodded their heads in agreement.

"Who are we even talking about?" Kevin asked.

"A girl on the writing team here. I can tell she's into me and she already said she knows I'd wanna get into her pants so if she obliges, it'll be a smooth ride with no strings attached." Scott said feeling fly. Meanwhile, Hunter and X-Pac shared questioning looks hearing the word 'writing team'.

"Don't tell me it's Kendra" X-Pac said as he and Triple H laughed. Hunter stopped laughing though once he saw Scott's straight face/

"Hold on, is it Kendra?" Hunter asked.

"Yep" Scott said. Immediately, Hunter and X-Pac burst into laughter once again. "What's so funny?"

"Shawn had a mild crush on her a while ago but it faded away. It'll just be weird. Does she have a Kliq charm or something?" Hunter asked as the rest laughed.

"Wait, Shawn couldn't get her in bed? Oh this is too priceless" Scott said with a laugh.

"I think he actually genuinely liked her but she never returned it. So Shawn just let it fizzle out" X-Pac said.

"Oh this is too good. I can so rub it in Shawn's face once I bang her." Scott said. Truth be told, he saw Kendra as a smart girl and he could tell she had a few personal issues, but she was hot and he didn't do dating. Once he'd slept with her, he could become friends with her subsequently.

But the sex had to come first. Oh yes it did.

"That'll be too priceless but nothing's gonna happen, i'm telling you" Hunter said with a laugh.

"Don't worry. I've got this." Scott said as he exited the room.

"It might be a good idea to tell Shawn about this. Just in case, you know" Kevin said. "Even if he is completely over her, he might not be a fan of one of his best friends chasing after her. Don't you think?" Kevin asked.

"I hear ya" Hunter replied.

Meanwhile...

"You're late" Kendra commented with a smirk as she saw Shawn walking up to where she was standing. He smirked right back at her and gave her a hug and a kiss on her cheek. "Or was I early?"

"The latter. How are you? How's the hand and how are you feeling generally?" Shawn asked. Kendra shrugged.

"I've been better, my hand hurts and this cast is extremely discomforting then generally... Shawn, generally I'm in a lot of pain. Both physically and mentally" She said. Shawn looked at her pitifully and pulled her into a longer hug this time rubbing up and down her back soothingly in an effort to make her feel better.

"Sorry about that. You can tell me all about it if you really want to" Shawn suggested. Kendra nodded as he pulled away from her.

"In time. Let's get going first." She said tossing him the keys to her rental.

"Where do you wanna go?" Shawn asked.

"That diner close to the mall" She said. Shawn nodded as they both got into the car. "How are you doing Shawn? It seems like I never ask that." She was right she didn't. Most of the time he was the one concerned about her well-being for obvious reasons. That question sure did take him off guard.

"Oh gee. Well, I've been good. Still champ, uhh... my friends are here and well... you know" Shawn said. It was then he realized that he actually didn't have much going on his life. Huh. He decided to change the topic. "So, how do you and Scott know each other?"

"This morning actually, I needed to clear my head so I went to the hotel pool and we met. It didn't go so well but we've made amends" Kendra said. Shawn raised an eyebrow. "I slapped him because he was prying too much into my biz" She said. Shawn chuckled.

"Sure sounds like Hall" Shawn said. "He seems to like you though"

"Nah, he most likely just wants to sleep with me" She said. Shawn was taken aback by that blunt statement that he swerved a little off the course of the road. "Hey, Shawn! Watch out!"

"Sorry, it's just..."

"Don't worry I know. I could see it in his eyes this morning and even in the arena. He was about to ask me out when we saw you guys but I pretended not to pay attention" She said. Shawn was baffled. He didn't know if it was because of how casual so could be being so blunt, or how she could say all that without sounding a least bit conceited. Wow.

"Wow. But ladies love Scott though, you sure you don't wanna..."

"Should I?" She asked. That question caught Shawn off guard but he didn't show it. "I'll have no problem with it actually. He's hot"

"Hmm" Shawn said trying to hide his disgust. "Alrighty then" It was quiet for a little while before Kendra decided to break the silence.

"But then again I most likely won't, I have my eye on someone else" She said with a giggle. Shawn looked over at her but before he could ask her what she meant or better yet, who she was talking about... they arrived at the diner. "Ooh Shawn, wait here." She said as she got into the diner leaving behind a confused Shawn.

Who the hell did she have her eyes on?

While Shawn was busy contemplating in the car, Kendra was at the diner getting some food, snacks and other stuff as take out. She was still waiting in line when she got a call from an unfamiliar number.

"Heyo" Oh really?

"Hi Razor" She said with a slight laugh. "So how did you get my number, snooped through my phone?" She asked. Scott laughed.

"I like when you call me Razor. Keep on doing that"

"Yes Scott" Both of them shared a laugh. "So, Razor... what can I do for you?"

"Alot actually. But for tonight, I'm asking you out on a date. Don't let the bad guy down" Razor said. Kendra laughed.

"If this was a few months ago, probably. But I'm kinda not into seeing other guys right now. Especially guys who just wanna fuck me." She said simply without sounding rude.

"You know what you're gonna be missing out on, don't you?" Razor asked making her giggle.

"I know but I'm good. Plus I have my eyes on someone else. I don't wanna fuck that up" Kendra said.

"Lucky man... but are you two dating?" Scott asked.

"Nope"

"Then you're not cheating. C'mon. Just one time. Don't make me beg chica. It's not a good look on me" Scott joked making her laugh once again. He was a funny guy.

"You're right it's not. Why are you so desperate anyways? Did you bet on me or something?" She asked. It was weird. She'd had one night stands in the past and of course her friends with benefits relationship with Curt a few years ago but she'd never seen a guy... well a guy as attractive as Scott so desperate. Something else had to be up.

"Hell no. God no. You're really attractive, yeah. And you fucking slapped me..." Ahh, there it was. "...that anger and the emotions. Everything. I wanna get you out of my system. Dunno why I'm being this honest though. And why and how you're comfortable with me being this honest"

"Hey, honesty is key. Especially when it comes to matters of the heart. I definitely respect you for being transparent with your desires but you've gotta understand that I'm just not interested" Kendra said. Scott sighed.

"You're making things difficult for me girl"

"Such is life... Razor. Such is life" She said. "Take care and goodnight" She said as she paid for the food and went back outside to the car. Shawn was sleeping which was a pretty sight but it gave her more time to put all the food in the backseats before getting back into the passenger's seat and waking him up.

"I'm awake!" Shawn said. "Wow, that smells good. You wanna go back to the hotel?" He asked. She shook her head no.

"Just follow my directions" She said with a mischievous smile. Shawn looked puzzled.

"You're not planning to kill me are you?" He half joked. She laughed.

"Never in a million years"

Meanwhile...

To say Scott was pissed was an understatement.

"Dammit!" Scott swore. No woman, well... at least no woman who had ever gotten his attention like Kendra had ever rejected him like this. No woman who had ever gotten physical with him had ever rejected him. He always made sure he went back to get his money's worth.

And the fact that she did it so casually. What the hell?

He stormed back into Hunter's locker room to find out that Hunter and X-Pac were gone and only Kevin was present, watching TV. Kevin noticed the pissed off expression on his best friend's face and decided to inquire.

"What crawled up your ass and died?" Kevin asked his friend with a slight laugh but stopped when he noticed Scott was in a bad mood.

"Where are the guys?" Scott asked, deciding to completely dodge the question.

"They took Shawn's word for it and just decided to go out tomorrow." Kevin stated. "But you haven't answered my question."

"It's nothing"

"She didn't put out did she?" Kevin asked. Scott groaned.

"She said under normal circumstances she would have but she has her eye on someone so she won't" Scott said slumping down on a chair. "Did I do something wrong?"

"You did everything wrong" Kevin said with a laugh. "Now, she probably sees you as some guy who just wants to get into her pants. But hey don't sweat it. On the bright side, Shawn couldn't get through to her either from what Waltman and Hunter said"

"That's true. Man, fuck that chick. I don't care anymore" Scott said. There was silence between them for a while until Kevin spoke up.

"You're gonna try again aren't you?"

"Am I Scott Hall or Am I not Scott Hall? That bitch is ending up in my bed" Scott said as the two men laughed.

"This can only end badly" Kevin said to himself.

Meanwhile...

Shawn couldn't help but burst out into laughter.

"It's not funny Shawn!" Kendra said slapping him on the chest.

"Hey watch it Kendy, I'm driving!" Shawn warned.

"Oops. Sorry. But anyways, what's so funny?" She asked.

"Because it's Scott. He's a bigger ladies man than I am... I know, can you believe it? He's not used to getting rejected. It's just... wow. You rejected two Kliq members Kendy. What a badass" Shawn commended with a laugh.

"But it was kinda weird... why was he so desperate to sleep with me? I mean, I know you had a crush but Scott just wants to get in my pants. Why?" She asked.

"Well, he did tell you it's cause you slapped him" Shawn reasoned. Kendra shook her head no.

"That can't be it."

"Actually it could be. It's a guy thing. Well, it''s a Kliq thing... okay, it's a Scott Hall thing. Nonetheless, it's a very simple thing. You slapped him and he didn't retaliate... for some reason..."

"Hey!" Kendra protested.

"Sorry. Scott just doesn't like to be hit by women but that's besides the point. My point is, you bruised his ego so to him, sleeping with you is a fair compensation. Does it make sense now?"

"Guys are weird" Kendra said. Shawn laughed.

"And girls are what?" Shawn asked. Kendra laughed along with him.

"Okay fair point. And we're here. Just drive into that road there, there's a park" Kendra instructed.

"Hmm... now this is strange. Sure you're not here to kill me?" Shawn asked jokingly.

"Oh please, you did the same thing in Chicago" She said talking about that time he brought her to that deserted park to talk about Bret. (Chapter 19 - Comfort).

"Okay" He said as he pulled the car to a stop. He was about to get down when...

"Wait!" Kendra commanded making him jump slightly. "Just gimme a couple of minutes. And close your eyes." She said. Shawn was incredibly confused but his curiosity got the better of him so he decided to oblige.

"Get to it Kendy" Shawn said as he closed his eyes as instructed. He heart Kendra shuffle around as well as the car doors opening and closing several times. His heart started to race as he didn't know what to expect but after a few minutes he heard her open the door.

"Okay Shawn, you can come out now" She said. Shawn who had shockingly not opened his eyes for a second before that did so and stepped out of the car. He trailed behind Kendra as she led him further into the park until his eyes fell on the 'surprise' she had in store.

Wow.

A picnic blanket draped across the grassy part of the park with food, snacks and drinks of all kinds arranged ever so delicately on it. At the far ends there were four flameless candles placed on each side of the blanket which gave everything a really beautiful hue.

To say Shawn was stunned would have been an understatement.

"Surprise!" Kendra squealed. "What do you think?" She asked. Shawn was lost for words. "Shawn?"

"Wow. No one has ever done anything like this for me. Not even Theresa" Shawn said to no one in particular still lost for words. Kendra was a bit puzzled but amused, wondering who the hell Theresa was.

"Who's Theresa?" She asked but got no answer as Shawn's eyes continued to roam around the setting. "Shawn?!" She yelled. He turned over to her. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm good. I'm good. Sorry" Shawn said.

"Great. You were saying something about a Theresa" Kendra pointed out. Shit. Shawn didn't even know he was talking out loud and looked kinda embarrassed which Kendra took a note of. "Listen you don't have to tell me if you..."

"She's my ex-wife" Shawn said. Kendra nodded not wanting to push forward. "But Kendra, I can't believe this. Why did you... how did you...?" Shawn asked.

"Why? I did it because you've been such an amazing friend to me Shawn. You've been supportive and you got me to open up to you about things I never thought I would open up to anyone about. You are an asshole sometimes, and I've seen it first hand, there is a lot of good inside you" She said. Shawn looked at her for a few seconds in astonishment. That moment and maybe till the end of time, she was the most beautiful woman he had ever set his eyes on.

"Kendra, do you mind if I kiss you?" He blurted out not even aware of what he was saying. But once he did realize, his eyes widened as he realized what he had just said. "Oh no, Kendra I mean..."

"Go ahead" She said and in seconds his lips were on hers. Unlike their first kiss which was forced (Chapter 5 - Midnight Ecstasy) and the second kiss (Chapter 25 - The Trial Of The Decade) which was just meant to pacify her, this one was lengthy and passionate. They were both in sync and for while, time stopped around them as they were both interested in one thing; getting as much of the other as they could.

After a while, they let each other go, panting heavily.

"Let's eat" Shawn said with a smile as Kendra agreed and nodded. They didn't bring up the kiss during the dinner but instead talked about other things. "So, how did you plan all this?"

"It was easy really. Sable had a picnic blanket and some flameless candles she used for romantic sessions with Marc so I borrowed it" Kendra said.

"Wow. You have taught me the meaning of total and utter surprise. Means a lot" Shawn said. They continued talking for a while, delving into different topics. Shawn began to open up more to her and told her about his previous marriage which ended because she couldn't deal with him always being on the road, his series of one night stands and flings and his affair with Sunny.

"You made the first move on her?" Kendra asked a bit shocked. An embarrassed Shawn nodded.

"Not my finest hour. Now both she and Chris hate me." Shawn sighed. "I really hope we can all make it right some day" Shawn said. Kendra put a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "Thanks but I'll be fine as always. How was the whole car ride with Bret last night?" Shawn noticed her tense up at the mention of that and could easily guess something happened. He looked at her angrily. "What did that asshole do to you this time?" Shawn asked.

"He was strangely being nice. I think he's feeling guilty and all so he tried to talk to me the whole ride there and stir up conversations... honestly, it was sickening" She said expecting Shawn to laugh only to notice that he just stared at her.

"That's not all, right?" Kendra sighed.

"And I heard him on the phone with my ex-boyfriend. Or at least I think so. I dunno... I don't wanna talk about it" She said with her voice shaking a little bit. Shawn looked at her sadly and cupped her cheek.

"You don't have to okay? Just promise you'll tell me once you're ready okay?" He said giving her a quick kiss on the lips. "Okay?" She nodded and kissed him as well.

"Okay." She said.

"Great. Now pass me that booze" He said making her giggle as she handed over the bottle of alcohol to him.

"Don't drink too much. Remember, you're still gonna be driving" She said.

"I hear ya pretty lady" Shawn said as he downed some booze.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

An exhausted Bret said goodnight to his wife and kids and put his phone on the nightstand with a groan. That day hadn't been an easy day but somehow... he'd gotten through it. As usual.

He was about to fall asleep when he heard his phone buzzing. Now who the hell was that? Maybe it was Julie who forgot to tell him something. So, without as much as checking the caller ID he picked up the phone.

"Honey, you know I love you but I've gotta sleep" Bret said sleepily.

"Hello Bret" An unfamiliar male voice said making Bret's eyes shoot wide open. He didn't respond but turned his phone to check the caller ID. When he saw an unknown number he was confused as to who this was and how the hell the person knew his name.

"Hey. Who's this?" Bret asked.

"Elijah" The voice replied.

At the mention of the name 'Elijah' Bret's blood began to boil.

"You have a lot of nerve calling this number kid! Maybe you weren't satisfied with that ass kicking I gave you and your friends years ago or maybe prison didn't satisfy you enough"

"Bret. I'm so sorry for everything. It was never my intention to hurt Kendra. Honestly" Elijah said.

"Shut up! Just shut up! You had no idea what you caused. It goes deeper than hurting Kendra..." Bret said trying to control the intensity of his voice.

"Bret if I could take it back I would. The guilt eats me up every day"

"What the hell do you want?" Bret asked. "The sooner you talk, the sooner I can stop talking to you because honestly I just wanna strangle your stupid throat!" Elijah took a deep sigh.

"Kendra called me" He said. Bret stopped in his tracks.

Meanwhile...

"You're pretty... pretty lady" Shawn slurred as Kendra pulled him through the hallway.

"I know. It's my fault for bringing alcohol" She said. She was completely sober as she didn't drink alcohol normally, but Shawn despite promising he wouldn't get drunk went overboard and there they were now. Kendra managed to drag him over to his hotel room and used his key card to open the door.

"I love alcohol... almost as much as I love you" He said as she closed the door behind them. Kendra giggled at how much silly he was when he was drunk.

"That's good to know Shawn. Why don't you just kiss me if you claim to love me all that much?" She asked sarcastically but to her utter surprise Shawn drew her closer and placed his lips on hers. Though he tasted like alcohol, Kendra didn't mind and kissed him back but pulled away after a little while to which Shawn pouted at.

"C'mon. This would be the best way to end an amazing night. Plus, I know you want to as much as I do. C'mon" He said trying to pull her back to him.

"I know lover boy but you should probably get some rest. And besides, you're drunk"

"I'm not drunk Kendra. I know what I'm doing. Maybe I am a bit tipsy but I'm conscious" He said. Kendra guessed that was true and thought for a little while before reaching a conclusion.

"Good point. Okay, but promise you'll remember this in the morning" She said.

"Duh... I'm not that drunk. If you're worried, you're not taking advantage of me" Shawn said jokingly.

"Alrighty then" She said with a laugh as she kissed him once again. Not how she planned her first time with Shawn to be... that's if she planned to sleep with him at all but oh well. Her only prayer was that they both didn't regret this in the morning.

Poor Scott though.

Well that was a chapter. Kendra and Shawn finally did it! (While writing I tried to reverse the gender roles and I realized that contextually, Kendra was taking advantage of Shawn which is why I had to add that Shawn's drunken state had worn off a bit)

Either way. Scott and Kevin are here and are honestly the real stars of the chapter. Elijah and Bret's phone call isn't through. We'll see more of that in the next chapter.

Remember to follow, favorite and review. See you all in the next chapter, as always... stay safe.
