"I di-didn't do it M-mama," yelped Heather, clearly shaken. Bandit's reaction was a little different…
"AWESOME SAUCE!" he yelped happily, "What did I just do!? Ooooh can I do it again?!"
"No!" I yelped, panicked and he shrunk back, "I mean… no,"
"W-why not mommy, didn't Daddy get to use his powers?" asked Bandit and I pondered what to say next, he couldn't use his powers… ever… there was an entire war being fought, including assassins to kill anyone they suspected had powers, we had to live in a cave out of town because of this. They feared everyone who had control of elements, fear, fear seemed to always cause Erythians to do horrible things.
"Mom?" asked Bandit and Heather, shaking me from my thoughts.
"We need to talk… come," I said swooshing my tail towards the entrance to the cave covered in ivy, it was dark inside, but it did well enough as a home. My children glanced nervously at each other yet followed.
"Children… you can't ever use your powers," I said.
"Why?" asked Bandit, twitching his tail slightly sending off some more electric charges in the air causing Heather to leap away.
"Stop doing that… I hate when my fur gets electricity…. It feels so… weird," hissed Heather.
"Look… I was going to tell you this when you were older but… its getting more important now, your father is a brave Erythian and is fighting a war to give elementalists the free will to be able to use their powers," I said leaving out the part where if they lost… they would not only be able to their powers but probably would be rounded up and executed. "So until they win the war we have to hide your powers so you aren't... some bad monsters fear others with powers, and want to eliminate them, so to avoid anything bad happening, we need to hide them,"
They stared at me with wide eyes, I hoped I didn't scare them too much… I wanted them to understand that this is serious but I didn't want to mentally scar them.
"Ok Mommy," peeped Bandit.
"Well I don't have powers so i'm fine," said Heather gleefully, "So I won't be hunted down!"
