Chapter 4
Bayonetta was looking at the two people who just appeared at her house. One she completely recognized and the other, she didn't know at all.
"Sorry for the inconvenience but this is the only place I knew that wasn't gonna be full of Laguna." Isabella said while carrying Naruto on her shoulder.
"Before I do anything, who are you and why are you with him?" Bayonetta said, staring at both of them, prepared to fight if need be.
"I will explain as much as I can but do you have somewhere I can put him?" Isabella said. Bayonetta stared at her scrutinisingly for a few moments before letting them in her house.
Isabella lays Naruto on the living room couch before she turns to see Bayonetta staring at her impatiently. As if suddenly remembering something, she clicked her fingers suddenly.
"Oh right, I'm Isabella Valentine. I'm also your younger cousin." Isabella said, sitting on a random chair and ignoring Bayonetta's narrowed eyes.
"You claim to be my cousin but I'm sure my entire family is gone." Bayonetta said in clear skepticism.
"No your father's still alive, unfortunately. My mother, your aunt, got killed a long time ago." Isabella said, remembering what her goal was.
"Okay, but why is he here?" Bayonetta asked, tilting her head at Naruto's supine form.
"Naruto wasn't killed as you can see. Rather, he was sealed away like you were by the lumen council. If I remember correctly from what Balder told me, they planned to kill off the rest of the hero faction and place the blame on you and the rest of the umbra witches but the rest of the lumen sages died off before they could start their plan." Isabella explained.
"So why show up now?" Bayonetta asked.
"Well I'm hunting down someone. Your father didn't like that so he attacked me because he thought I was gonna ruin his plan. Naruto here got involved and joined the fight. As you can see, he lost." Isabella said
"I gain some of my memories back, my not so dead lover returns, I have a cousin and my father's alive. Any other surprises you feel like throwing my way?" Bayonetta asked, slightly frustrated at her ignorance of the whole situation.
"There's more but I think it'll be best to wait for Naruto to wake up. He should be able to explain some things." Isabella said, looking over at Naruto's sleeping body.
October 10th,1400
Nathaniel, a blonde haired man of European descent and standing at a height of 7'8 was a lumen scientist and also a candidate to hold the Right Eye of Light. A lumen scientist was a sage who not only practiced magic but also dedicated their lives to the advancement of their sciences which were already more advanced than that of normal humans.
He had slept with a random japanese woman and found out she had a child. Normally he would just ignore both the woman and the child's existence but the woman died giving birth and he was forced to take care of the child.
Nathaniel didn't care about all much about the child. All he cared about was his research and the upcoming war that could very well bring about the end of all known life.
Nathaniel had just been called before the council to speak about his upcoming project. Upon reaching the chamber, he got on a knee before the elevated figures that made up the council.
The Lumen Council was made up of 46 of the lumen sages' oldest and wisest members, the majority of which had been alive for at least two millennia.
"Rise Nathaniel." A random member of the council said. As he got up, he looked at the group, noting the absence of a prominent member.
"Forgive me for speaking out of line, but where is his holiness?" Nathaniel asked as he noticed the elder was missing.
"The lumen elder has other matters to attend to but he has written down all of his decrees" Another member responded to his question. "And in any case, this is not important enough to cause him to postpone the Moe consequential affairs. However, he has passed his judgement."
"Against our suggestion, it has been decided that you may proceed with your project, Nathaniel. Should you succeed, the reward shall be generous." The same member spoke.
"However, should you fail," The member leaned forward and their voice took on a threatening tone. "The consequences shall be quite dire."
Nathaniel bowed in acceptance and at the dismissing wave, walked out. Leaving the chamber, he grinned to himself. Finally, it had been approved! But that left only a mild issue in finding who to use as test subjects.
Entering his laboratory, he glanced at the sleeping infant still lying where he had placed it. As he looked at it, ideas began to flow in his head.
"It appears that you may be of some use to me after all, my son." Nathaniel said, staring at his infant son. He already knew what to do.
What most didn't know was that certain weapons and lore from the fallen pantheons were stored in the deepest parts of Sunrise Valley. And it was good for Nathaniel. The lack of knowledge would mean questions would not be raised when things began to disappear.
Over the years, he had multiple theories and devised multiple methods of creating demigods from the fallen religions using the ancient weapons and items from heroes long fallen. And as much as he hated to admit it, he was not making as much progress as he had hoped.
The demigod project was full of complications. He had tried this process on many children, both clones and regular humans and had made very little headway. He could almost feel the deadline drawing nearer and nearer. The council was growing persistent on seeing the fruits of his work and he had lost count of how many offenses he had committed by denying them their request.
At the moment, Nathaniel was having a fit of rage over another failed attempt.
"Damnit, why isn't this working? Why can Imagine harness the power of those demigods. Even if the children can somewhat use their abilities due to magic, if they go any further they just straight up die due to their power going out of control." He raged, angrily scribbling the results into his journal, his writing messy due to his trembling hands.
"I need to find a way to focus their power. I could try coming up with power limiters. Yes, that could work but I need to make each one different for each demigod depending on their powers and abilities." Nathaniel muttered, feeling another wave of inspiration hit him.
Flipping to the previous pages of his journal, he began to jot down the recorded observations he'd taken on the previous projects. If each unique limiter was to succeed, he couldn't afford to leave out any details when crafting them.
With any luck, this would be just what he needed to do and the council would stop breathing down his neck.
March 29th, 1408
Nathaniel struggled against holy chains binding him as he was dragged back into the chamber to face the council. Grunting in pain as he was forced on his knees in front of the Lumen Council, he looked up to glare at them.
"What is the meaning of this?" Nathaniel enraged at the fact he was chained.
"Nathaniel, it has come to our attention that you have been performing experiments that go against our code. How do you plead?" The entire council spoke in unison, their voices synchronised in a manner that could only be described as divine.
"This is ridiculous. I made those clones to prepare them for the inevitable war with the umbra witches. We may have the Laguna on our side but what if that isn't enough? What then?" Nathaniel asked frantically, feeling his temper boil.
"Be that as it may you have not only tampered with the graves of the long dead, but you have duplicated the demigods from the lesser gods, using children no less."
"You are hereby sentenced to death by the Last Age." The head council member said with authority. ( Sanctus from dmc4)
(Last age: a chemical created to boost the effects of time magic. Instead, it slowly ages and kills off the body of the person who uses it. The worst punishment for the lumen sages.)
"No! This can't be, I just wanted our clan to survive. You fools have single handedly doomed us all. What about the children? You won't be able to survive without them." Nathaniel said only to be ignored.
"Guards please escort the prisoner to his cell until his execution begins." The head council member said ending the trial. The lights dimmed as they turned their backs on Nathaniel.
"You fools! Without my genius, you won't survive! Release me at once! You don't know what I see! You don't see what I see! I see the end! I see doom! Your ways will damn you all!" Nathaniel screamed out at them, struggling against the guards dragging him to his end.
The council members stayed silent as the scientist's voice faded in the distance. When all was silent again, they turned back and the lights brightened again.
"What will we do with the children, your holiness?" A random member asked.
"We train them. Nathaniel was right about one thing. War is always around the corner and this is one war in which our victory is not guaranteed, but our defeat is not permitted. We have to win at all costs." The elder said as he and the other council members left the room.
Memories
Right now, Naruto is remembering from his Point of view what happened the day he got sealed.
Naruto and Alcides were standing right across from each other staring the other down.
"Brother, please stand aside. Our mission was to wipe out the witch clan and those who practice the dark arts." Alcides said looking at Naruto grimly. He still couldn't understand why his brother was so adamant on defending these witches. Did he not see what they could and would do if they won?
"I can't do that. Someone I care for is a witch after all." Naruto said getting into a fighting position. Alcides gave him a disbelieving look.
"Are you really going to fight me on behalf of a witch? Our own enemies? The people we have been training all our lives to fight?"
"She's not just a witch to me, Alcides." Naruto said. "You wouldn't understand and I can't be bothered to explain it to you now. All that matters is that so long as I'm alive, you won't be getting to her and by extension, the rest."
Alcides shook his head sadly at his words. His brother was bewitched. That was the only way he could speak such nonsense.
"You are not yourself, this witch has clouded your mind brother. I will free you from this witch's tricks." Alcides said as his body started to throb and pulse while also gaining height and muscle mass.
Alcides let out a loud roar, signaling his complete transformation into Heracles the demigod of strength. Naruto looked over to his former comrade before channeling fire around his body.
Heracles rushed at Naruto and swung his fistto deliver a blow that Naruto blocked with the shaft of his spear. Due to Heracles overwhelming strength, Naruto was pushed back several feet until he slammed his spear on the ground to force himself to stop.
Naruto yanked out his spear and faced his opponent again only for his eyes to widen as he saw Heracles appear right in front of him. Heracles' spartan kicked Naruto, causing him to hit himself with his own spear and sending him backwards.
Naruto recovered and jabbed his spear at Heracles who in turn grabbed the blade right at the edge and swung his club directly at Naruto's stomach causing him to double over in pain and drop his spear.
Seeing that his opponent dropped his weapon, Heracles kicked it over to the lumen sages behind him. Naruto steadied himself only to notice his spear was gone. Undeterred, he coated and infused his fists with fire and got into another combat stance.
Naruto rushed at Heracles and started punching at him only for Heracles to block the hits using his club. After one last hit, Naruto sent Heracles flying a few feet back before Heracles lunged at Naruto and swung his club at him.
A quick use of time magic allowed to dodge Heracles' swing before punching Heracles in the stomach. Grabbing Naruto's arm, Heracles swung him around, smacking him against the ground until he tossed Naruto in the air and kicked him as he descended, causing him to fly back multiple feet.
Shaking his head to clear his vision, Naruto launched several small javelins made of fire at Heracles and while the demigod was distracted with dodging and blocking, rushed at him and ran him through the stomach with his fists, causing him to roar in pain.
Before Heracles could retaliate, Naruto extracted his hands and sent a burst of fire at the demigod's face before kicking him in the knee. Naruto leaned back slightly to dodge a glancing blow from the disbalanced demigod and kicked the same leg, this time, forcing the demigod on his knee. Now that they were at the same height, Naruto swung his fist for the demigod's face, hoping to end the battle quickly.
Barely seeing anything through his injured eyes, Heracles instinctively raised his hand to grab Naruto's fist, hissing in pain as the fire burnt his palm and fingers. He tried to move his hand back only for Naruto to grip it tight and force it to the side, leaving him wide open for Naruto to ram his second fist through his chest.
Heracles' eyes widened in agony as fire burnt his insides. He slowly and painfully turned to look at the man he considered a brother. Naruto gave him a regretful smile.
"You won't die, that we both know. At least not for long. I made sure to avoid your heart and lungs so you can recover quickly. I'm not going to apologize for doing this to you. An apology is of no use for an intentional offense." Naruto said.
"The witch is more to me than I can possibly tell you and I can't make you understand just why I'm doing this. Just know that when you find something or someone you're willing to live and die for, then you'll understand." Naruto said as Heracles leaned into him, clearly about to fall over.
Naruto then pulled his hand out of Heracles'
chest and turned to focus on the lumen sages who were surrounding him.
Naruto called back his spear in order to get ready and fight again. But just as the spear gets close to him Heracles roared in rage before surprising him with a punch to the stomach and an uppercut that jerked his head back.
Naruto, not expecting him to get back up so quickly didn't have time to dodge the punch that sent him flying until he crashed into the seal protecting the last umbra witches. Feeling his back scream in pain at the harmful magic from the seal, Naruto tried to stand up only to see the lumen sages summoning a large amount of magic. The result of said magic being a bunch of whips and chains that bound him.
"Demigod Karna you are to be detained and sentenced to trial by the lumen council. Please do not resist." A random lumen sage said while they were all struggling to hold Naruto back.
Naruto noticed that the chains were draining his strength and leaving him barely able to stand. He used everything in his power to even move with the chains on to avail and was forced to watch as Heracles shrunk back into the form of Alcides who walked towards him.
"I'm sorry brother, but it seems you lost this time." Alcides said before punching him in the face.
Feeling the last of his strength being sapped away and his vision fade, Naruto's last thought was 'I'm sorry Cereza.'
Right before he lost consciousness, he saw the outline of a red light shine from inside the sanctuary.
Few hours later
Naruto woke up and noticed he was restrained by more holy chains. He looks around and saw that he was in a courtroom surrounded by whatever was left of the lumen sages holding up either a weapon or preparing to cast a spell. A bright light appears and fades showing half of the Lumen Council due to the other half dying in the war.
"Demigod Karna you are brought here today for your reason against the Lumen Sages by allying yourself with an Umbra Witch. The very same abomination that caused this war from what I have heard." Sanctus said
"Cereza is no abomination. This war didn't have to start at all, but you and the Umbran elder just couldn't get the clans under control. Cereza has nothing to do with causing this war or my actions." Naruto said, looking at Sanctus.
"Her very existence is the cause of this war. I'm afraid this witch has not only deceived you but has forsaken you as well. For it is your fate you and the rest of your kind are fated to be ashes in the wind." Sanctus said, staring down at Naruto who stared back defiantly.
"You are more like Nathaniel than I thought. What do the rest of the lumen council think?" Sanctus said as he thought of a punishment.
"Your holiness, several members in the council have decided to banish the boy. He has not only been caught protecting Umbra witches but he also took one of Heracles' lives. If any member of the council has a more suitable punishment, then the rest of us will hear you out." Another random council member said before the leftover member start talking to each other.
"Banishment seems too weak on this child. He must remember his place as not only a tool of war but as an abomination himself. I say we seal him away until this war is over and recondition him. What do you say, my fellow council members?" Sanctus said as the other council members started to argee on Sanctus's idea.
"Well then it is settled. Demigod Karna you are to be sealed away untiltl the war is over and then reconditioned. If that is all the verdict is cast. Guards prepare him for sealing." Sanctus said while Naruto tried to do everything in his power to break the chains but to no success.
The last thing Naruto saw before he passed out was an evil smile on Sanctus's face
Naruto's mind
"Fan-freaking-tastic back here again. Wait, this place looks different." Naruto said noticing his inner mind looked different this time. He saw a Red Sun and Blue Moon shining brightly while surrounded by an empty space.(The Void from Devil may cry 5)
"I must have overworked my body by using the spears full power like that. But how did I use it's full power? I thought it was locked away due to my limiter." he said looking down at his body, noticing that certain parts of his body were covered in golden armor. He also noticed that certain parts of his skin were turning white.
"Wait, when did I get the armor? I must not have gained full access to it yet." Naruto said as started to fully examine the area he was in. He noticed that his body felt different, stronger even.
"It is because we are becoming one." Naruto heard as he turned and saw Karna but noticed something different he then noticed that Karna was missing certain pieces of his armor. Pieces that were on Naruto's body.
"What do you mean? I thought we had already became one last time." Naruto said as he stared at his counterpart.
"No, you just started the process of us fusing. Normally we would've become one person a long time ago but due to the fact you were born as a regular human and not made as a clone caused us to remain separate until the process is finshed. I have been here ever since the spear chose you. I should fade away sooner or later. Probably." Karna said
"Ok so how long will that take?" Naruto asked
"No clue I'm not an expert on this stuff." Karna said, shrugging his shoulders.
"Oh"
"But there is one thing I noticed whenever you use our power the process dramatically increases. So I guess the best call would be to use as much power as possible. That is the only advice I can give you, but don't using the spears full power again like that until the process is complete." Karna said
"So what happens now?" Naruto asks
"Simple. you wake up, when the process is done the armor will become yours and you may experience some changes to your physical body."
Karna said as Naruto started to wake up.
"May this be the last time we meet and may you overcome your trials my successor." Karna said with a small smirk on his face as Naruto disappeared.
Real world
Naruto wakes up and the first thing he notices is that he's laying on a couch, but who couch is this?
"Oh I see your awake bout time really." Naruto turned to his left and saw Isabelle walking into the room.
"Where are we? Whose house is this?" Naruto asked as he stood up confused.
"This is Cereza's house. She wanted to see you when you woke up." Isabella said simply.
"Should've known this was gonna happen. Where is she?" Naruto asked as he looked around.
"She's outside. You've been out for a few hours so it's gotten dark." Isabella said pointing to the door that lead outside.
"I guess it's time we talked after all this time. What are you gonna do?" Naruto asked as he walked to the door about to touch the doorknob.
"As soon as you two are done I'm calling in my favor. Seems like I got the information I needed." Isabella says as she sat down in her chair before watching Naruto twist the doorknob and walk outside.
Outside
Bayonetta was sitting on the roof of her house staring at the cloudy sky until she noticed Naruto walking out.
She jumped down from the roof and as he turned around and faced her.
"So you are supposed to be my loving husband. You do look pretty handsome." Bayonetta said, looking Naruto up and down before staring directly into his eyes.
"You're still as beautiful as the day I lost you, Cereza." Naruto said, staring at Bayonetta as the wind started to blow.
"You know normally in this case one of us would run towards the other and initiate a loving hug or a kiss , but the only thing I want from you is answer's." Bayonetta said as she gained an angry look in her eyes with her left one glowing red.
"Fine, then ask me anything and I will answer to the best of my ability." Naruto said sighing.
"What are you? Why are you now appearing? Why were you fighting my father? And why were you sealed away?" Bayonetta asked as she tried to think of more questions.
" I am Naruto, born as a regular human but transformed into a demigod. I and others like me were created to help the lumen sages win the war against the umbra witches. I would have appeared sooner but I never found out you were here. Balder broke a taboo amongst the clan rules he interfered with the flow of time." Naruto said getting Bayonetta curious before continuing.
"There is a forbidden spell were if used correctly a person can travel into the future the clan made it forbidden due to the fact that they would be dishonoring their roles as overseer's, and I was sealed away because the leftover councilors at the time thought I was too valuable alive." Naruto finished
"So who did he bring back? Let me guess my mother , my aunt, who could he possibly have to bring back from the past to move along whatever plan he has?" Bayonetta said as she started to give to her anger.
"You." He said as the wind around them started to die down.
"What?" She said in disbelief.
"He brought back the child version of you." Naruto said as he watched her started to question everything she just heard.
"You may not believe me but I would never lie to you Cerez-don't call me by that name. Cereza died along with everyone she cherished. I am Bayonetta got it?" She said, interrupting him angrily.
"Fine then Bayonetta I could never lie to you. I don't know what balder is planning but it can't be good seeing as he interfered with the flow of time. Until I know what his goal is and put a l stop to it I won't be going anywhere." Naruto said as he stared directly into her eyes seeing her hidden anger.
"After balder's plan is foiled I will leave this place and you will never have to see me again if you so wish." Naruto said as he ended the staring contest and looked at the sky.
A part of Bayonetta felt sad when she heard him say that but unfortunately it was overshadowed by all of her unyielding rage. Just as she was about to say anything she heard Naruto ask " Is that what you want?" Causing her to reply " The only thing I want right now is to kick your ass." She said pulling out her guns.( I know I forgot to mention this but Bayonetta and Jeanne are using Umbran sisters, the classic guns given to them when they complete their training.)
"Very well then " He says as a whirlwind of fire surrounds Naruto before spreading out and surrounding them, sending them to the void Naruto was in earlier.
Fight
Bayonetta shot 13 rapid bullets at Naruto who in turn twirled his spear and blocked all 13 of them. Naruto then summoned a small spark of fire into his hand and blew at it unleashing multiple balls of fire at her. Bayonetta uses witch time to dodge the fireballs until she is within arms reach of Naruto she then points her gun at his head and was about to pull the trigger until she felt a heavy blow against her stomach.
She recovers just fast enough to block a jab aimed at her chest using her guns sending her back a few feet. She looks up and sees Naruto staring down at her before he dashes towards her with an incoming jab she ducks under it before sending a kick directly into Naruto's stomach causing him the wince in pain before sending a punch at the spot she was in. Not seeing this coming, Bayonetta took the punch to the face. Naruto then backtracked to gain some room before he saw Bayonetta jump up and land on her feet before saying " You really are a strong man. Seems like this may be fun."
Naruto then dashes towards her and stops time just before she could react before slashing her multiple times cutting through her clothes and into her skin before appearing right back in the same spot and ending the light speed technique.
Bayonetta felt cuts all throughout her body before she noticed that she had been hit."Damn time magic." She thought as she used her wicked weaves to repair her outfit.
Naruto channels all of his strength into his right arm then covers his spear in fire before throwing it at Bayonetta who could barely see the spear coming at her trusted her instincts and used witch time.
What Bayonetta saw next caused her eyes to widened. She looked upon the golden spear the naruto threw at her. She expected the spear to still be a few feet away with enough time to dodge it, but no it was a moment away from piercing her glasses and right eye. Getting over her shock of this she moved away from the spear. Perfect timing to because as soon as the spear went passed her time resumed. She looked over and Naruto's spot to not find him there she then felt a heavy blow to her stomach causing her to spit out a glob of saliva before falling to the ground on one knee.
"It's over Cereza you can barely keep up with me like this. I don't know why you are so triggered but this battle won't last long if you keep fighting like this." He said calmly as his spear returned to his hand before stabbing it into the ground.
"You don't understand because of course you don't. I lost my memories and as soon as I get a good portion of them back I'm suddenly thrusted into a bunch of random bullshit. I don't remember everything but I remember enough. I remember my mother's death and her last words. I remember breaking down and just as soon as you got captured and that seal broke I broke with it. I thought you died and I thought it was my fault. I was prepared to live the rest of my life with that.
Just when I finally made peace with that, you come back into my life after fighting with my father and my best friend . Whose are also still alive and possibly evil. Why did all this have to happen TO ME." She yelled as she finally gave in to her emotions.
Bayonetta then dashes at Naruto before hitting him in the face causing him to slightly turn his head due to the strength of the punch. Before trying to punch him again. Naruto caught the punch before pulling her into a hug.
"I understand enough Cereza you aren't the only one this was force upon. You have to understand something I never wanted this for anyone especially you. You may not care for me but you are still the someone I cherish me getting sealed away is one of my biggest regrets. I understand your angry at the fact that these things are happening to you ,but your not alone. I'll be by your side until this is over that I promise." He said sincerely slightly tightening the hug to truly show he cares.
Bayonetta thinks about everything he said until this very moment. She hesitatingly wraps her arms around him and accepts his hug with her own before saying "Thank you." She said as they held each other for 30 minutes until Bayonetta was felt better.
