Clover

I had just gotten back from hunting late though I got lucky today and found a mouse den giving us plenty of food, as I trotted back to my den with 6 dangling mouse tails in my mouth, 2 for each of us, I saw my daughter, Heather flicking her stubby tail nervously.

"Mom!" she cried out to me, "Bandit ran off!"

"He did what!?" I said in disbelief why would he run off? Did they have another argument?

"We had another argument," said Heather confirming my thoughts before checking the sky which was starting to turn a dark purple shade, "I didn't think he would just run off, I mean he usually goes to collect his thoughts but he has been gone since Sunhigh, do you think something might be wrong?"

I flicked my ear nervously as I bolted away ready to scour all the biomes for my missing child before realizing Heather was still behind me and I shouted over my shoulder "Stay here! Wait in the den! Only eat two mice!"

Only the gods know if she would listen to me as she stopped running after me not that she would get very far with her stubby legs though I was sure they would grow with time.

Worry edged my thoughts and caused my heart to nearly stop. Where could Bandit have gone? I paused sniffing the air leading me around the mountain we resided on and heading into the forest, an ancient memory came to me one of a happy family splashing around the lilypads and running around getting dirty. It was Bandit's favorite spot to go think and it was a while's away so it did make sense.

I sighed, time to drag Bandit home once more, even so Heather got into a fair bit of trouble as well... honestly those two would be the death of me.

I loved them to death though and would do anything for them... it was just getting hard and I wanted to make sure they both stayed safe. I couldn't handle another incident like their Father...

They could never know the real reason why he never came back.
