Chapter 38: Brother
Maddie's POV
"HEINZ! WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU, YOU BLASPHEMOUS PIECE OF TOENAIL?" I yelled throughout the house, stomping around in the house towards the main hall. And there, sitting like a whale on drugs was Karlheinz, looking like he was expecting me there.
"Ah, yes, Madison. I would choose my words wisely if I were you," he spoke, calm and composed.
"Shut the fuck up!" I shouted at him, "You told me you knew my mom!"
"Of course, I did."
Yui and Laito gasped in the background.
"Sir?" Ruki muttered, "You knew her?"
"I did," Karl remembered her fondly, "She was a beautiful woman. Her hair were as long as Madison's, and her smile was exactly like yours, Ruki Mukami."
Ruki and I stopped right in our tracks. Perhaps a memory of hers slid into Ruki's mind, because a tear slipped past his eyes. And just as I was about to try to comfort him, Karl continued, "However, she didn't have a character as fair as her face."
"W-What do you mean?" I stammered. And I certainly didn't want to hear from the Ketchup Lord, out of all people, about my mother's character.
"Ruki here was her first son, from her very first marriage with a man I was alliances with. He truly loved her, he really did," Karl then sighed dramatically, "Alas! She never really loved him, but only his wealth."
"Fuck you!" I cursed at him, "My mom would never-"
"She did," Ruki interrupted, and I shut up.
"What?" I asked incredulously.
"She left my dad, and soon after, he hung himself," Ruki spoke, his voice breaking multiple times in between.
"No way…" I mumbled.
"What the actual fuck?" Ayato spat, "This isn't the drama I signed up for."
"Shut up. It's getting sad," Shuu whispered to him.
"It wasn't her fault that she fell for Madison's father, either. He was much, much wealthier than her husband, I must say," Karl spoke like a fucking idiot who didn't know when to stop.
"Stop…" Ruki's fists balled up.
"She met Madison's father at a dinner I had arranged, and of course, his wealth definitely made her drool."
"Please stop…"
"Madison's father was a vampire too, wasn't he? That's the reason she is a half-blood, because your mother wasn't. What a pity!"
"Please…"
"And-" before the sauce bottle could say more, I stepped up and punched him in the face. He fell back on the ground, and everyone (except Ruki) gasped and whimpered.
"Did she just…?" Kanato muttered.
"No way!" Subaru was surprisingly amused.
"Fuck!" Yui chirped.
"What did you just do…?" Reiji questioned me.
"In the very polite manner of conversation, kindly shut the fuck up, asshole!" I screamed at Heinz on the floor, whose nose was beginning to bleed.
"The audacity…! You half-blooded swine!" he cried on the floor, and within seconds, he was standing up and pulling me along with him harshly, having grabbed my wrist tightly. If it was Subaru who was doing this to me, I'd be a total simp.
But it was his fucking excuse of a father, so I felt the very urge to puke on his fake Gucci outfit.
"Where the fuck are you taking me?!" I yelled, and I saw the brothers and Yui looking at me, concerned.
"You need a lesson for insubordination!" the rotten tomato ketchup grunted.
And sparing one last glance at the people I was walking away from, I glimpsed Ruki crying.
It hadn't completely sunk in, but for a fact, I knew that my heart hurt for him.
He was my brother, after all.
