Making her way up the stairs, Jackie entered her room and closed the bedroom door behind her.

Then she proceeded to change out of her day clothes. Not into nighties, but into more secretive attire. A short sleeved black shirt, dark blue jeans, black combat boots, and a black jacket with an orange lining. Through the loops of her jeans, she strapped on a tactical belt and put some extra tools on it. One being a stun gun, pepper spray, and an expandable baton.

She was ready.

Now fully dressed in her stealth attire, Jackie stepped over to a certain wall in her room with a blanket nailed on for decoration...or so it seemed. Lifting the curtain up, she unveiled a bulletin board with a web of information. And in the middle was a picture of a man. A man she had heard much about from her mother.

"Hi, Dad." she murmured. Seeing the picture again made her smile.
The picture of Jason Bourne hung in the middle of the board, surrounded by newspaper clippings and a map of places Jason Bourne had been. The last sighting was supposedly in Las Vegas. At least that's what her source says. Speaking of which, Jackie's mind went back to the matter at hand and remembered her task.

'Focus, Jackie. Focus.'

Going to her bed, she knelt down and reached under to pull out a backpack. Returning to her desk, Jackie took her laptop, notepad, and a certain thin device black device with an extendable antenna and packed them all into her bag.

Zipping it up, Jackie looked to her window with a ready look. It was time.

In the back of the house, an upstairs window opened and an object was tossed out and a climbing rope made from bed sheets was lowered. Up top, the roped was tied to a C-clamp that was tightened onto the the lintel of the window. And from the window, Jackie put a leg out first and then the other before quietly sliding down the rope with her boot clad feet on the wall outside of the house. She soon made it to the ground with ease and picked up the object from the ground, her backpack, and she strapped it on.

Then she walked out from behind the house and onto the road in front of her house and began down it. She was on her way now.

As she walked into the night, Jackie's mind wandered to her father. He was actually the reason she was on this trek. She was investigating to try and find him, and she had been at it for quite a while now. She remembered when she first found out about him. It was so long ago, she was so young. Five years old, just passed toddlerhood. Yet, she was smarter than most her age. And it was because of this that she was able to learn who her father was.

She remembered it so clearly.

[2010]

Jackie peeked through the banister to see her mother downstairs, crying in her seat. From what she could tell, Marie was watching the TV. Looking to the screen, Jackie could make out a news report about a man. And he certainly looked familiar to her.

The five-year-old Jackie walked down the stairs and tiptoed over to her mom. She was in her seat with her head down in her hands. This gave Jackie a perfect chance to walk up to her stealthy-like.

"Mommy?"

Marie's head shot up at the sound of her daughter's voice and revealed her face which had obvious signs of of sadness.

"Oh, Jackie," she tried to smile, quickly wiping her tears away and attempting to recompose herself, "what's wrong?"

"I heard you cry, wanted to make sure you were all right."

"I'm fine, sweetie. I'm just..I'm fine."

But Jackie, even though she was young, wasn't easily fooled. Noticing her mother's tearstained cheeks and her eyes puffy from crying, she could tell that there was something hurting her. And something told her it had to do with that man she saw on the news report.

This moved her to ask, "Who was that man?"

A confused look came to Marie as she tiled her head, "Who, baby?"

Jackie turned and pointed to the television set before looking back to Marie. "The man on the TV. I've seen him before."

Marie's breath hitched in her throat and her face displayed surprise that mixed in with her confusion. What did Jackie mean? Where had she seen J-... him before? Heck, when had she seen him?

"What do you mean 'you've seen him before'?" She asked curiously.

Jackie looked up in thought before answering. "I saw a picture of you wit' him in your baf'room. And I saw another one on your computer...you stare at him a lot. But every time you do, you always get sad."

And just like that, Marie huffed a small laugh at that. She couldn't beat it that her little girl had figured out. She was so smart and observant, just like...just like...him...

"You're right, Jackie." She stated with a sad half smile while putting her arm around Jackie and holding her close. "I do get sad whenever I see him."

Jackie took in her mother's demeanor and could see tears starting to form in her eyes. It hurt her to see that, and it didn't help her confusion any either. "Why, who is he, Mommy?" She asked again, leaning into her mother's embrace.

Marie felt a lump in her throat grow as she gulped and took a deep breath. She looked down to her daughter and looked her right in the eyes.

"He's your father, Jackie. Your dad."

The words were quite a surprise to Jackie, more confusing than shocking though. She looked to the TV with confusion at the news report and focused on the picture it had up of the man in question.

Facing her mother once again, she asked, "That's my Daddy?"

To that Marie replied with a nod and a rub to Jackie's shoulders. "Yes, Jackie. That's him."

This time, both of them looked at the TV to the picture of the man. That man that apparently was Jackie's father. And as she eyed the monitor, Jackie caught sight of the name under the picture of her father. It was then she learned the face and name of him.

Her father was Jason Bourne.

Jackie blinked as the memory faded, but left a permanent mark in her mind. She then wiped away a tear that had formed in her eye but had not yet fallen.

'I shouldn't be sad' she told herself. If all went well and she found what she was looking for at this destination, she might actually have a chance. Her and her mom might. Yes, a chance.
'I can do this. I can do this!'

And with that, Jackie picked up the pace and began to run some. She was a girl on a mission. A mission to find her father. And nothing could stand in her way.

[ST PANCRAS INTERNATIONAL STATION]

Having made it to her destination after a nearly three hour train ride, Jackie hopped off the train and made her way to a Starbucks that was within the station.

Though it was late into the night, this Starbucks was used to late customers coming through from the train or from the city to get on a train. So in this case, Jackie blended right in.

When she entered the coffee shop, she ordered a coffee and a blueberry muffin. Then she sat down at a table and pulled out her laptop and the thin black device she had packed earlier and set them out on the table in front of her. Opening her laptop, she booted it up before turning on the other device which was a signal disruptor. Then she waited.

Five minutes of waiting had passed before her laptop screen glitched and went dark. A window came up that was black with a white blinking insertion. It was a secret chat window.

Suddenly, a message came up from someone with the handle 'TechBlonde81'.

TechBlonde81: "Confirmation code."

Seeing this, Jackie put down her coffee and typed in a reply.

AgntJB05: "273097."

Jackie hit 'ENTER', sending the message and waiting until a pop-up notification came up with a green checkmark and the word 'CONFIRMED'. It disappeared after a moment and a conversation started between AgntJB05, which was Jackie's handle, and TechBlonde81.

TechBlonde81: "Good evening, JB."

AgntJB05: "Blondie, good to hear from you."

TechBlonde81: Hru?

AgntJB05: "Pretty good, yourself?"

TechBlonde81: "Good thx. Did you bring what I told you?"

AgntJB05: "Yes ma'am. One sec."

Marie reached into her backpack again and pulled out an SD Card Reader and an SD Memory Card that had 'FOR DAD' written in it in permanent ink. Plugging the memory card into the reader, she then connected the reader to her laptop and it was all ready.

AgntJB05: "Plugged in and ready to go."

TechBlonde81: "Awesome! Hang on."

So she waited. It didn't take long as a window came up and multiple files could be seen flashing by as they were transferred to the memory card.

When it was completed, another message came through.

TechBlonde81: "Wait until you're in a secure location to open these. NOT in public, understand?"

AgntJB05: "Understood. But what are these?"

TechBlonde81: "These are files on the people responsible for what happened to your father. Some dead, some living and still active. The others are allies and may possibly be of help as well. A word of warning though, the ones still living are dangerous despite their age. Be careful, JB."

AgntJB05: "Yes ma'am, will do."

TechBlonde81: "Any questions?"

AgntJB05: "I remember you saying to be careful with these people, any in particular I need to worry/know anything about?"

Jackie waited for the reply and it took quite a few minutes, but the reply finally came. It was quite lengthy too.

TechBlonde81: "Yes, definitely. The main one is Noah Vosen. He was the Deputy Director of the CIA and the Head of Operation Blackbriar. He is the most, if not one of the most ruthless adversaries your father ever faced. Sending almost a whole army after your father back in 2004. Including cops, multiple agents, even a Blackbriar operative. Fortunately, your father made it out. Unfortunately, even though he was arrested after your father exposed him and the business with Treadstone and Blackbriar, he was acquitted on all accounts. As of three years ago, he was appointed Director of the CIA and has been hunting your father since then. It's personal with him now. Two more you should be wary of are Retired Col. Eric Byer, USAF, and Retired Adm. Mark Turso, USN. Turso was the main officials in charge of Operation Outcome; a program very similar to Treadstone and Blackbriar, but different as well. And Byer was basically his boss/partner as he spear-headed a research group that kept an eye on all of the programs, which he had created. These two are dangerous in their own special way, so again, be careful."

Jackie exhaled deeply as she took in everything she just read, that and the pictures of the individuals her contact had just described. Apparently, there was more to this than just her father. Apparently, he was just the tip of the iceberg. She hadn't seen this coming, but now she couldn't unsee it. This was heavy.

Another message came up a minute or so later.

TechBlonde81: "JB, are you there? U alright?"

That message brought Jackie out of her thoughts and back to the now. She read the message and was comforted by the seemingly concerned words. Not wanting her contact/friend to be worried, she quickly typed in her reply and sent it.

AgntJB05: "Yes ma'am, still here. Sorry, its just that was a lot. I didn't know all of this was connected to my father."

TechBlonde81: "Yes, it's a very intricate web. A dangerous one as well. That's why I need you to promise me you'll be careful."

AgntJB05: "Copy that, will do. Anything else?"

TechBlonde81: "That's it for now. I'll let you know when/if I have anything new."

AgntJB05: "Got it. And Blondie...thank you again for this. For helping me. This is a lot of work to go through and the weight of it...well, I just wanted to thank you for helping me."

The message was sent and less than a second later, it showed that it had been 'Seen'. After that however, there was a still moment in the chat. It made Jackie worry that maybe she had gone too far, perhaps made it too personal. But the reply that came after gave her comfort and reinstilled her with faith.

TechBlonde81: "My pleasure, kid. It dangerous but, I'm happy to do it for you. I owe it to your father after what he did for me. If I can help him by reuniting him with his family, then I'm for it."

AgntJB05: "Thank you so much."

TechBlonde81: "You're welcome. Now get home, it's late there in London. Don't want Jack The Ripper coming at you. LoL"

Jackie cracked a smile at that and typed her reply.

AgntJB05: "Hahaha! Good one. Ttyl!"

With that, the chat ended and Jackie ejected the memory card, placed it back in it's case and stuff it back into her backpack. Then she closed her laptop and stuffed that in too before standing, grabbing her coffee and muffin and walking out and jumping on the next train back home.

Six hours and forty-seven minutes, almost seven straight hours. That's how long Jackie had been gone from home that night. That's the longest she's been away from home during the night. So you can imagine the urgency of her hurrying to get back home before her mother woke up. There was about two hours of darkness left for the night, so once she was off the last train stop back home, Jackie took off running for home.

It took a while, with periodic stops along the way to catch her breath, but Jackie finally made it to her road and started off again. It wasn't long before she soon saw her house.

When she neared it, she quietly ran around back until she was right under her bedroom window where her rope of bed sheets still hung. Grabbing onto it, she began to climb alongside of the house, little by little reaching her window. Finally reaching it, she grabbed onto the windowsill and pulled herself the rest of the way up. Getting one foot in, Jackie climbed in through the window and landed gracefully on her floor, nice and quiet without a sound.

Standing up, she turned back to the window, undid the clamps, and pulled the bed sheet rope up, closing the window behind it. "Whew! That wasn't so bad." she sighed in relief as she took off her backpack and it on her desk.

"Not bad at all."

Jackie froze and felt a chill hit her spine at the unexpected sound of the other voice. She turned in the direction of the voice and heard the click of a lamp before light spread across the room, illuminating the once shadow ridden room and the person the voice came from. Her mother.

Marie sat there, arms crossed and an eyebrow raised.

"He-Hey, Mom." she laughed nervously.

But Marie wasn't laughing. She just sat there eyeing her daughter, not moving an inch and her mood not changing.

The silence didn't help with Jackie's nerves as she felt her heart beat fiercely within her chest. "Uh, did you...did you need something?"

"Jacklyn Bourne, do not play games with me!" Marie raised her voice as she stood from her seat and walked up to her daughter. "I wake up tucked in my chair and it's about twelve forty-something, I come up the stairs to check and make sure you're sleeping alright and I find you're not even here! You know what that's like, to wake up and find out your daughter is gone? Wondering if she's ran away or been kidnapped? Do you?"

Jackie had noticed her mother's tone had changed from anger and anxiety to one of concern and worry that any mother would have for their child. Or in this case, only child. And from this, her mood became more humble as she realized now how much her mother had worried.

Tears began to form in her eyes and she lowered her head in regret.

"Es tut mir leid, Mama."

"Oh, schatz."

Marie pulled her daughter into her arms and Jackie hugged her right back. The two held each other for what seemed to be a few minutes, but was really only one. They soon split but stayed close as Marie held her daughter's face in her hands and saw Jackie smile up at her.

Though she was happy she was home, Marie still had concern about her daughter being out so late for so long.

"Where did you go?"

"Promise you won't get mad?"

Once again, Marie raised an eye brow at her daughter's words. "Tell me first and then I'll decide."

Naturally, Jackie was hesitant. But with what she was working with, who wouldn't be? But then she remembered that this was her mother, and she had always been there for here. Marie was her rock and she knew she could trust her.

So with that little bit of extra conviction, Jackie took a deep breath and began.

"Okay."

Letting go of her mother entirely, Jackie took off her jacket as she walked over to her wall and lifted the curtain from it, revealing her information board.

"So this is something I've been working on for quite a while now...I've been trying to find Dad."

Marie saw as Jackie pointed to the picture of her father on her board. Suddenly, her heart began to beat a little faster.

"You've been looking for him?" She asked, her voice slightly hoarse.

Jackie nodded. "Yes, for about a year now. I've been doing research on his name, possible confirmed sightings, anything that could help. But seven months ago, that's when things started to look up a lot more. Someone started helping me."

The tail end of the sentence is what mainly caught Marie off guard.

"Wait, helping you? Who?"

"Honestly, I don't know." Jackie replied with a shrug, "I was just digging, looking for anything I could use as a clue. I even did a face search with a picture from the internet...that's when it happened. Someone hacked my computer and started talking to me. They asked why I was searching about him so much. So I told them that he was my father and I was trying to-"

"Wait, you told them you were his daughter?!" Marie's voice went up and a mixture of worry and anger showed in her mood. "Jackie! Why did you do that?! You know we're supposed to be laying low! What have I always told you?"

Jackie sighed as she recalled the warning her mother had told her at age seven when she had started teaching her about the dangers of the world.

"To always be cautious, that every move we make could mean our lives."

"Then why did you tell this person you don't know who you were to Jason? This could be anyone! An online pervert, a scammer or anybody!"

"But they're not!" Jackie retorted, cutting her mother off. She kept her voice down as best she could, not wanting to escalate the situation.

"How do you know that?"

"Because they knew him. And what's more, they're in hiding too. Yes, I may not know them but they gave me proof of what they can do. They even found these for me."

Jackie turned to desk and unzipped her backpack, pulling out it's contents. She opened the laptop but turned on the signal disruptor first, just to be safe. Then she plugged her adapter and the SD card and pulled up multiple pictures of her father that were on the memory card.

Marie stood over her daughter's shoulder and felt her heart flutter at the sight of the images...images of Jason.

One in particular caught her eye. It stood out from the others, mainly because it showed Jason at a young age. He looked almost to be a teenager, possibly very early 20s.

Another one showed Jason a little older, training with weights.

Seeing this not only brought the feeling of tears, but it also spiked her curiosity as well as her worry. "Where did you-..or whoever it is that you're talking to get these?"

"They're from CIA files." Jackie replied before pointing to and describing them. "This one from his training during the Treadstone program, and this one way before the program was created."

And that was what kicked it for Marie.

"Wait, wait...you said these are from CIA?"

"Yeah, why?"

Marie brought her hands to her temples and massaged them as she tried to find the words. "Jackie, this is...I-I can't even think straight. You hacked the CIA and stole from them?!"

"Well technically, these are digital copies of stuff from them and-"

"It doesn't matter!" The mother exclaimed, "The fact that you and your online friend hacked the CIA and have these is enough for us to be in danger!"

Now, Jackie was beginning to feel cornered and attacked. This caused her to become a little defensive.

"Ok first off, my 'online friend' is a former CIA operative and they haven't betrayed my trust even once! I trust them and I believe they're trying to help."

"They? Who is they? You don't even know they're real name! And yet you willingly gave away your identity and put yourself at risk! Put us at risk!"

Jackie was beginning to feel a little frustration but still did her best to keep herself calm.

"Mom, I'm a nobody! I'm just a teen doing research, they don't know! Plus, they're not even looking for you anymore. No one is! It's been years, they think you're dead!"

But that wasn't enough to calm Marie. "And you could've let it slip that I'm not! Then what, huh?! What if they found out where we are, what if they came here and took us and found out? Then they'd have leverage to use against your father, then he'd be in danger too...can't you see, Jackie? This is dangerous stuff, and you can't go around half-cocked about it."

Granted, Jackie hadn't considered that. The thought of her mother in danger because of her was a concern of hers, but she didn't think of the possibility of her father being put in a dangerous situation because of her. This caused her to feel some remorse.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Mom...I really am. That's not what I wanted at all..."

There was a silence, but what happened next almost made the two women wish it had stayed silent.

"You need to stop this." Marie stated.

Hearing that, Jackie furrowed her eyebrows at her mother's words.

"What, why?"

"Because it's dangerous. I'm not going to have you putting yourself in danger like this."

"But Mom, it's my father." Jackie's voice began t shift to a pained whisper, she even felt tears threatening to come out. "I want to find him. To meet him...I need to, Mom...I have to! Please!"

"I know..." Marie nodded quietly. It gave her no pleasure doing or saying this, but she wanted her daughter safe. "But it's just too dangerous...and you're too precious to lose."

It was then that Jackie lost it. "I DON'T CARE! I DON'T CARE ABOUT THAT!" The magnitude of her voice made Marie freeze and step back a little. Jackie had never raised her voice to her mother so this was new and shocking to her. "I'm tired of hiding, Mom. I want to do something now! I want to find my...I want my father."

With those words, Jackie felt the swift adrenaline rush leave her and let the tears flow strong. She cried and cried hard. Feeling her knees buckle, she onto the desk and began to kneel down before sitting on the floor and letting it all out.

Marie felt a tear escape her eye as she watched her daughter cry in sorrow on the floor. Part of her wanted to comfort her like a mother should, but another part felt that she should leave her alone for now. After all, she didn't think Jackie wanted to talk much more after that.

With a pain of regret for making her daughter cry, she walked out of Jackie's room and closed the door behind her.

Now alone, Jackie slowly picked herself up went to her bed. As she laid there crying, she reached underneath her pillow and pulled out another picture of her father.

She stared at the picture, at her father's face, blue eyes and all. As she continued looking, she couldn't help whispering "Daddy..."

Jackie pulled that picture to her chest and held it over her heart. It pained her so much to not have him there. Even when she was close to possibly finding him...and now, she was being stopped by her own mother. The mere thought of it made her hurt and want to cry more.

She kept on laying in her bed with the picture over her heart, crying herself to sleep.

That night, Marie didn't sleep at all. Not because of worry that the same dream would come back to haunt her. Well not just that. No, it was mainly on account of her argument with her daughter earlier. She couldn't get the words Jackie had said out of her mind. And she also couldn't forget the chart and web that she had made in her room either. She was able to study it a little before Jackie came back. From the looks of it, Jackie had been working on it for quite some time and had covered quite a lot of ground too.

Marie could tell that her daughter was so focused in her endeavors to find her father...to find Jason. Her heart began to ache once again at the longing for her lover whom she missed desperately, and she wondered if he missed her. He had to, right? Granted, he probably still thought she was dead, as did everyone else. But still, the love they had, the things they shared, how she comforted him when he was troubled about his past, how hard he tried to protect her...he had to miss her...right?

Suddenly, something sparked in Marie. Something she had thought of before, but never felt this strongly before about doing: the urge to find out. The urge to find him.

But then, the fears that had held her back all this time, - the fears for her safety and that of Jackie's- came around again. If they left this place, this safe place that had been their home for well over seven years now, they risked losing everything. Everything that they built, the lives that they had made...they risked losing each other. The risk was too great.

Yet again, a thought that Marie hadn't considered before came to play. She had made this same decision once before, the decision to leave everything behind for one person. The very same person that this whole idea was about. Marie had done this for Jason. She had done it when she agreed to take him, this complete stranger, this slightly weird, but surprisingly handsome man across country when he offered her $20,000. She had made that decision when she agreed to stay when they had arrived in France. She had made that same decision when he gave her an out, a chance to step out of the car and still get away and have a chance at a normal life. And what was her response to that? Strapping herself in with her seatbelt and giving him a nervous but confirming smile.

It then dawned on Marie that no matter how she looked at it, it all led back to Jason. Even with her current position, though she was isolated from the world, she was still happy. Happy to be alive and happy with a blessing in the form of a daughter. A daughter that she loved very much and who loved her back, a lovely girl who was the perfect mixture of her and Jason. All of this because of Jason. Her Jason.

She then remembered Jackie's words much earlier. "I want to find him. To meet him...I need to, Mom...I have to!"

Jackie had lived all these years without a father, and now she wanted to find him. This was something she needed, and Marie realized she needed it too. She needed Jason. She needed to find him. And that's what she was going to do.

The wheels in her head started to turn as she began to think and plan. Now farther away from sleep and more fired up than before, Marie stood up from her seat and went up to her room. Grabbing her laptop and a notebook and bringing it back to the kitchen table, she sat down, opened the two and got to work.

As she worked out her plan, she had in the center of her mind the man she loved. The man she sorely missed. The man she was now to go looking for to the ends of the earth. The love of her life and the father of her daughter.

Jason Bourne.

However, as she worked, little did she know that on the other side of the world, something was was happening that would spiral a huge chain of events.

[HONOLULU, HAWAII]

The day had been long and sunny in beautiful Hawaii. Many people had done various activities throughout the day. Going to the beach, surfing, tanning, sightseeing, even boat riding. And at this nice little dock was a boat rental. In the shack, the rental clerk leaned back in his chair, having dosed off thirty minutes ago after a good long day.

However, out on one of the boat that were still attached to the dock was a man in a gray tank top, working on one of the motors of a boat. He was maybe mid or late 40's, moderate muscles on his arms and of good build. He had been at this job for a good few months. About six...or was it eight? He'd honestly lost count of how long he had been here, but for now, things were all right.

Finishing his work on the motor, he tested it and the motor cranked and rumbled well. A victorious sigh came from the man as he turned off the motor and put the cover of it back on. He gathered his tools and put them back in their place in his tool bag before standing and walking back to the

"I'm heading home, Phil." He said before walking off.

"Alright." The clerk, Phil replied, waking himself up. "See ya tomorrow, Johnny!"

And the other man, "Johnny", continued walking away, heading home. Only thing was, that wasn't his name. Not his real one anyway. To the few locals he'd interacted with, he was known as Jonathan Caine from Seattle, Washington. But that wasn't who he really was, that was just the name he was using during his time here.

His real name wasn't even his real one, but it was more real than his birth name. His birth name was David Webb...but he didn't go by that anymore. No, the name he chose to go by was one that had stuck with him the past twenty years. A name that some knew and feared, but others didn't.

His name was Jason Bourne.

That's chapter two, guys! And what a chapter it was! Jackie is doing some serious detective work and Marie has now found out. Now Marie is in on it. It's gonna get bigger and bigger as we go. But I hope y'all enjoyed this chapter, lmk what you think!

Fun fact: This story was originally titled The Bourne Resurgence. It would have taken place five weeks after Supremacy and would have followed Marie recuperating from her injuries alone before going to find Jason as he went to take down the people who called the hit on him in India.

But this story will be different than that, and much better too 😁😁😁.

Next chapter's gonna see Jason too, so hang on til then! ;) Laters!
