Today was finally the day, the day I would become an apprentice my paws tingled with excitement my sister was bouncing up and down grinning. Squrrielkit, Harekit, and Littilekit still had to wait for a moon until they became apprentices. Most warriors had stopped trying to talk about my dad to me, which I was ok with. I was tired of cats always coming over saying your father was a great warrior, it does not change the fact that nobody seemed to notice he was gone, and that was the part that was Not ok. nobody cared. I waited patiently and stopped fidgeting. I'm gonna be the best warrior the clan has ever seen, and I better show that I'm more mature than my sister jumping and running around camp telling any cat who would listen she was going to be an apprentice.
My mother padded up to me her silver fur cleaned recently, " How does it feel to be almost an apprentice?" Ivyheart asked.
"It will be nice to get out of camp, rather boring in here I rather be outside hunting then stuck in the boring nursery filled with kits" I said flatly, it would be fun out in the forest a good place to clear your thoughts I hoped it was a good answer I wanted to seem mature and confident.
My mother growled, "You have plenty to do, be thankful for what you have, you have a nice warm den instead of having to be out in the rain and cold, be thankful more thankful for what you have Hurricanekit" I stared at her in shock,
"What did she mean? I was thankful! I only meant I wanted to be out in the forest! What did she think I meant? That I hated camp and never wanted to be in it, and rather always be out in the forest fending for myself!" I thought with annoyance.
"I'm just saying I'm excited to be out in the forest! What's so wrong with that?" I snapped and stalked away.
"I hope you respect your mentor more than me, your own mother, the cat that raised you" she called over my shoulder. I stalked off trying to ignore her words.
"Let all cats gather beneath Long ledge for a clan meeting!" called out Ashstar. I walked over to the rock, my eyes gleaming with excitement.
"Tsunamikit step forward" Tsunamikit ran forward eyes gleaming "This cat is old enough to be an apprentice, her new name is Tsunamipaw before she has proven herself to be worthy of a warrior name and rank, her mentor will be Shrewfox your an experienced warrior and I hope you can pass that onto Tsunamipaw," Ashstar said. I winched Shrewfox was one of the fiercest cats in the clans.
"Hurricanekit step forward" determined not to act like a kit and I calmly walked up to the rock, " This cat is old enough to be an apprentice, her new name is Hurricanepaw before she has proven herself to be worthy of a warrior name and rank, her mentor will be Hollywater, your a patient warrior I hope you will teach all you know to this apprentice," he finished and jumped down from Long Ledge. But the cats kept chanting our names.
I faced my new mentor Hollywater of all the cats I could have as my mentor, I got Hollywater I was silently hoping for Daisydawn since she was kind and often let her cats do as they wanted, I remembered the time I asked to climb a tree outside of camp and she said yes, she got in trouble though because no other warrior wanted me going outside camp or even climbing a tree for that matter. I put on the most pleased face I could though, and decided at least I was an apprentice.
