was never a fan favorite in my clan, I didnt know if I was supposed to be upset about that, I didnt try to make things terribly difficult, I just…
Okay I did make things difficult, but honestly they just brought it upon themselves. They forgot all about one of their most loyal clanmates. Get over it? How was I supposed to get over it!? Just move on and heal, how was I supposed to do that?
Oh well he was a nice cat I had no relationship to him, I shouldnt care anymore, or praise his geniusness or implement his plans he loved sharing with me.
They seemed to make it a habit to forget their family my thoughts came out bitterly. Still I went throughout my day, I had been assigned inside camp duties all day, cleaning out the nursery, and cleaning out the elders ticks, very unglamorous, and it was me solely. Tsunamipaw had tried to speak up but Shrewfox had silenced her whisking her off for some fishing training. Meanwhile my 3 other siblings were getting a tour of the territory.
As I was trying to take a particularly fat black tick, swollen from Horrenttail's blood, there was a crackling of brambles behind me right when I crunched down on it, I could recognize her practically dripping with honey sweet, slightly condescending voice anywhere though, "Hurricanepaw."
I shot her a glare out of the corner of my eye, "Yes? What is my next task?"
"Actually your free to go."
Did I hear her right? My ears shot up in surpise, I whirled around to make sure she was indeed Hollywater I was met with the same black and red cat as usual, crisp blue eyes. "I beg your pardon? What's the catch?"
Hollywater shrugged, "There is no catch. Not everyone is out to get you, you know."
I blinked, trying to figure out what she meant. Hollywater stared back, beckoning for me to go outside, I meowed a quick goodbye to the two elders, who also happened to be her parents. I followed her through camp and out into the lush woods, in the distance I could hear the meandering offshots of one of the rivers.
"Get some fresh air, we will resume training tomorrow." she said once we had gone pretty deep into the undergrowth.
I parted my jaws before closing them like a fish. Why was she doing this?
"Look I dont know what gave you such a bad impression of me in the first place, but I too agree that the reaction of our clanmates was overdone."
"Wasn't it obvious?" hissed a voice inside my head, I pushed it down, I didnt believe a word Hollywater said, but I was willing to take her tender olive branch and just gave a quick nod. I didn't really want to stay out here, so I headed back to camp, crouching on the outside to see if I could hear anything interesting.
Some cats seemed very opinionated such as Shadestream that Sunclan was a sin on this earth. Meanwhile Daisydawn and Poppylight strongly disagreed. The other cats seemed torn, what could have happened? No cat was looking, I may have caused this mess but it ahd spiraled oit of control, in a way I felt glad since it saved my dignity somewhat since my actions were simply whitenoise, but now tension laid stagnant in the air.
They wouldn't notice I was gone. They wouldn't notice I was gone!
I took off running through the woods hardly caring if anyone saw or heard me. I approached the end of our scent markers, I didnt even come this far in my apprentice tour, we seemed to avoid Sunclan as much as possible, but I wanted to know if maybe my family was there.
When I came to a halt at our scent borders the smell of forest had long since blown away, ahead of me was a sea of yellow, thick grass perfect for crouching or chasing rabbits through was everywhere. It still made me feel open and exposed, to feel the wind hit my fur with almost no resistance.
Still I could see the sky, it was beautiful, it always looked overshadowed in the woods, here it was the main vocal point. I took a step forward, and then another. I was officially in Sunclan territory. Would Whitepaw be there? He was fun.
I walked through the arching grass ways, and through the small thickets. Careful not to seem as if I was sneaking around. They'd see me from a mile away, and that was my attention, tail straight in the air.
That's when I was met with an upcoming patrol, I warily creeped up to them, it consisted of a blue tabby warrior, an elegant white and silver she-cat, and then another two cats taking up the rear end of the patrol.
"Halt!" growled the blue tom, "What business does a Moonclan warrior have on Sunclan territory?"
I tried to calm myself but my fur was still bristling, it was like it was in my DNA to dislike these cats, but I could be face to face with one of my family members right now. "Hello, I'm Hurricanepaw, I am not here to fight or cause trouble. I know this sounds stupid but I'd like to go to your camp and meet my family."
"Your family?" cried out a silver tom pushing his way forward, "All family ties we have disowned since your treacherous former leader tried to steal our territory and leave us with nothing-"
At the same time though another cat interjected, this time a calico, "How is Daisydawn? Is she happy there? If not, I'd be happy to share a den with her again. Even a nest again."
I vaguely remembered that Daisydawn had rather fiercely defended Sunclan, by her accounts at least, perhaps this was an old boyfriend from her time here.
"I'll give you news on all your family provided I get to meet mine." I said realizing I now had leverage, the others started murmuring amongst each other. I stood there as innocently as I could. Since I was an apprentice their guards were down. They eventually settled on letting me stay for a very short while as I was good and nobody knew I was here. I graciously accepted because I didnt want anyone else to know I was here either.
The camp was smaller, much smaller, and much shallower, there also were alot less cats. Still everyone's head perked up in suspicion, Whitepaw's jaw practically dropped. Good thing no other cats were looking at them.
"A Moonclan warrior has come to give us news about our old clanmates." announced Sorrelberry, I recognized him now, his colors had been alot more muted in
The response was mixed, many cats turned away in disgust. While others looked on curiously. "Hi." I chirped, "I'm Hurricanepaw and my mother is Ivyheart and my father was Rowanwhisker, and I was hoping to meet Spirithop."
I immediately sensed something was off. Everyone was now sending uneasy looks my way instead of suspicious ones, "What? Does he not want to see me?"
That was when a cat appeared from the leaders den, fluffy and red, she stood with authority, yet her voice was sympathetic, "I am so sorry but, Spirithop died just this morning."
