Arthur's Notes: Some background information about this story is that this takes place during the medieval time but has a modern cloth style. Also Naruto is 5 foot 8 and Hinata is 5 foot 6

Chapter 1: The Punishment Turned Into a Story

A 14 year old boy with spiky blonde hair was being dragged to a stage at the Kingdom center. The boy looked around and chuckled seeing the stage with a rope to hang him and after being dragged on the stage and after standing up with the rope around his neck the boy looked at the crowd of people hearing them scream " Die Demon." The boy sighed as he looked at the ground and heard the King say " Naruto Uzumaki I am here to be hanged for counts of robbery and using ninjutsu illegally but before you die do you have any last words." The now identified Naruto looked at the king seeing an old man with a white facial hair, then said " Yea and that is my shadow clone should be in place." Naruto chuckled seeing the King's confusion then looked ahead seeing an arrow fly out of a tree and cut the rob that was around his neck. Naruto did a backflip getting the rope off his neck and smiled, feeling another arrow cut the rope that he was holding his hands together behind his back. After Naruto landed he turned around and saw a building and quickly ran up it using his chakra to have his feet stick to the side. As Naruto was running up a building he heard one of the knights of the kingdom yell " Go after him." Naruto chuckled as he got onto the roofs of houses and buildings. As Naruto was running he dodge kunai and shuriken. Naruto looked ahead seeing the giant wall that surrounded this kingdom and saw that it was about 100 yards high from the ground. Naruto then looked behind himself seeing a lavender pale eye girl hearing her say " Gail palm." Naruto looked forward then slowed down and stumbled forward feeling a huge gust of wind hit his back. Naruto quickly got his footing as he approached the wall. Naruto jumped off the roofs and onto the wall then started running up the wall.

As Naruto was running up the wall he stopped and turned around half way up deflecting an attack. Naruto chuckled seeing the girl then did a backflip as he did some hand signs then after he landed he slammed his palms to the wall and said " Earth Style Mud Wall." Naruto saw a piece of earth come out of the wall and saw it trip the girl. Naruto smiled as he turned back facing up and was about to run when he heard screaming and looked down to see the girl falling, not able to hold onto anything. Naruto sighed as he jumped off the wall and headed towards the girl. Naruto got more worried about the girl seeing her get closer to the ground then he slammed his arms to his sides and after catching up to the girl only 50 feet from the ground Naruto hugged the girl. Naruto looked at the ground seeing the girl about to hit it then turned his body on him being where the girl's back was and after backing contact with the ground Naruto screamed in pain as he felt his spin snap in two. After a few minutes Naruto looked up seeing the girl then found himself surrounded and tried to get up but when he put pressure on his back he screamed in pain. After another few minutes of just laying there Naruto chuckled seeing the king walk in and heard him say " Why did you save this stranger." Naruto smiled then grunted in pain as he put his hands into a cross sign creating a shadow clone then pointed at it then smiled seeing the king look at the clone. After a few seconds of silence Naruto heard his clone say " I might have done think's and I have killed once but no matter what people do not deserve to die for my reason and I would sacrifice myself to save anyone I either put in danger or should protect." The clone looked at the king hearing the king say " ok but I need to know what you did with the money." The clone chuckled then said " I did take a little for myself but I would use it to buy stuff from struggling families with business and give the money back to the people. The outer part of your kingdom is made of criminals and they protect that place anyday." The Clone then disappeared and the original smiled hearing the king say " This boy lives and will be taken to the hospital and if anyone even hurts him I will have you killed." Naruto smiled then screamed in pain feeling someone kick him then looked to the left seeing a man with the same eyes as the girl then heard him say " He stole from my clan he needs to die for just trespassing." Naruto screamed again feeling another kick then smiled seeing the girl run in front of him then he closed his eyes and passed out.

The girl looked at Naruto then back at the man hearing him say " Hinata move out of the way and don't disappoint me more then you already have." Hinata shook her head then looked back at Naruto seeing a medic come and said " No father he saved my life." Hinata's father opened his mouth about to say something when he looked at the medic hearing her say " He is lucky that you didn't paralyze him any more movement he would have and his spin has been snapped in two with his ribs broken and bleeding in the adiman." Hinata put her hands over her mouth and gasped feeling tears down her face and then looked at her father hearing him say " Hinata I don't like you embarrassing me like this and you will be punished for what you did." Hinata just sighed then crouched next to Naruto and said " Thank you." Hinata then stood up and walked to the hospital with Naruto as he was taken there. As Hinata was approaching the hospital with Naruto unconscious, she noticed a huge crowd of people standing in front of the entrance. Hinata grabbed a kunai having nothing to stop for Naruto's help then smiled and put the kunai away after ten seconds seeing the king's anbu knights push everyone back. After entering the hospital, Naruto was assigned to a room. Hinata entered Naruto's room a day after what Naruto did for her and grunted in pain still feeling his father's punishment then sat next to Naruto and sighed with a sad smile then said " Naruto I want to say thank you for thinking of my life over yours and almost killing yourself to save me." Hinata just looked at the ground after what she said then she looked back at Naruto hearing " I might be a criminal but I am not a monster even if people think otherwise." Hinata's eyes widened seeing Naruto's eyes open and sitting up then she hugged him with tears down her face. After a few seconds Hinata broke off and said with a small blush " I am very happy you're alive and happy for you to have no permanent damage."

Naruto nodded and started talking with Hinata and told her about how he found out his skill in stealth and lock cracking. After thirty minutes of talking Naruto looked at the door and saw the king enter and heard him say " Can I talk to Naruto alone?" Naruto looked at Hinata as she left then looked at the king and sighed then said " I am thankful for what you did for me but I will run right now if I am being executed or anything." Naruto got confused hearing the king chuckle then heard him say " You had someone get your execution date on the day that all of my knights that can catch you this was planned from the minute I got you in jail." Naruto nodded with a smile then he chuckled after hearing the king say " That is why I would like you to join the knights as a genin and you don't have to go though the academy." Naruto nodded thinking and after a few minutes in silence Naruto said " Ok I will but I want a few things." Naruto looked at the king and smiled seeing him node then said " I want to be on a team with Hinata the girl I saved and I you to go though my missions and you know why everyone hates me for holding a demon and you are the only one out of a few that will not try anything against my life." Naruto smiled again seeing the king nod and the king said " Naruto I will tell you that Hinata is the daughter of the head of the Hyuuga clan and he can't do anything about the teams but you will get threats form the clan most likely." Naruto nodded with a sad smile then he looked at the king seeing him about to leave then said " Also don't expect me to bow and call you your highness." Naruto then chuckled hearing the king chuckle as the king closed the door. After a few minutes of sitting there alone Naruto saw Hinata enter the room and frowned hearing her ask " Naruto I know you don't trust me but do you know why everyone calls you demon?" Naruto nodded, then said with a small smile, "Yeah, but I will not tell you unless I get to know you more and trust you." Naruto then chuckled seeing the shock on Hinata's face then nodded hearing Hinata say " Are you asking me to be your friend?" For the next few weeks Naruto stayed in the hospital resetting from his spin snapping and started to get to know Hinata and during those weeks Naruto tells Hinata about the deal he has with the king and how they will be on the same team. Also during those weeks the team Naruto is on visited him a few times.

Hinata opened her eyes and smiled realizing today was the day Naruto was to join them for training. Hinata grabbed her blankets then threw them off herself then got out of bed and went to her closet grabbing clothes. After Hinata grabbed her outfit she put it on the walked to her body mirror and looked in it seeing herself wearing a white jacket with black pants with her headband around her neck and mesh shirt under her jacket. Hinata smiled looking at the mirror then she took turns grabbing her kunai pouch and after putting it on she walked out of her room and headed to the training ground her team meets at." After a fifteen minute walk Hinata walked onto the training ground and smiled seeing Naruto and saw him wear an orange no sleeve jacket with a black long sleeve shirt under his hoodie. Hinata also saw Naruto wear black pants with a black quiver on his back and a black bow with a silver cloth wrapped around the handle part of the bow. After a few seconds of looking at Naruto's back half she fake coughs getting Naruto's attention and after she saw Naruto look at her she waved and walked up to Naruto and said " Nice to see you walking again and I didn't know you used a bow." Hinata's smile got bigger seeing Naruto smile then chuckled hearing Naruto say " Yea but I use it in a way no one else even thinks of." Hinata chuckled then looked at a woman seeing the Konoha Kingdom headband on her forehead and saw her wearing black pants and long sleeve shirt that looked like bandages and one sleeve red then heard her say " Naruto it is nice to see you again but this is not the time to catch up we are a information, infiltration and tracking team and we need to train." Hinata nodded then looked to her left seeing a boy with black spiky hair wearing glasses and a brown trench coat his mouth being hidden then she looked back at her sensei and said " Kurenai sensei are we doing the training from yesterday?" Hinata smiled seeing Kurenai nod then heard Kurenai explain the rules to what they do.

Naruto smiled as he stood in front of his sensei then looked to the left seeing his teammates then he grabbed his bow and three arrows then said pointing the arrows at Kurenai " So get the scroll." Naruto then chuckled as he fired the arrows and to no surprise from him Naruto saw Kurenai catch the arrows then Naruto smiled seeing smoke start to form around Kurenai. Naruto grabbed one more arrow then shot it in front of him at the ground then charged Kurenai in the smoke. As Naruto got into the smoke he went straight for Kurenai and after a few seconds Naruto saw Kurenai grab her ribs after he hit them with his limb of his bow and after close to a minute Naruto notice the smoke cloud being big and started striking Kurenai and hid in the smoke before she could strike back. After ten minutes of doing this Naruto noticed the smoke dissipating and after ten seconds Naruto noticed the smoke fully gone and then he grabbed two arrows and aimed them at Kurenai and said " Checkmate." Naruto then lowered his bow and turned around when he smiled hearing his sensei say " Don't turn your back on an enemy." Then everyone saw Kurenai get behind Naruto putting a kunai to his neck. Naruto chuckled as he looked at the kunai against his neck then everyone was shook seeing Naruto put a kunai against Kurenai's neck then everyone saw the Naruto Kurenai had put a kunai to disappear in smoke then Kurenai threw her hands up and said " You win." After that everyone tried to defeat Kurenai but failed, then they all worked on stealth and did the same thing for 4 months. Also during the 4 months Naruto and Hinata got close

*4 Months Later*

Naruto was walking to the training ground where he meets his team early going to meet Hinata for early training. Naruto walked onto the field and looked around then frowned seeing Hinata sit against a tree, her hair a mess with bags under her eyes. Naruto jogged over to her and sat next to her then said " Hinata-chan what happened? Naruto frowned more when Hinata looked at him with an exhausted look then he looked down to her side seeing her lift her hoodie and gasp seeing her side covered in buries with no fresh skin showing. Naruto grabbed Hinata's hand holding her hoodie and squeezed it then heard Hinata start to explain.

*the Night Before"

Hinata was standing in front of her little sister in her fighting stance and sighed hearing her father say " You are doing it wrong and if you don't get it right this time there will be a punishment." Hinata nodded still looking at her little sister then charged her and purposefully falled to do the fighting move. After she stopped with her sister Hinata found herself flying backwards and screamed when her back made contact with the wall and after getting up Hinata screamed as her father continued to strike her. After twenty minutes Hinata felt tears down her face and was in so much pain she couldn't feel her own body. Hinata just laid there and sighed hearing her father say " Now get up and do it right and stop disrespecting the Hyuga name." Hinata grunted and gasped in pain as she got up and got into a fighting stance. After hearing the start Hinata tried but couldn't move due to the pain and just continued failing and got striked.

*Present Time*

Naruto gasped then he grabbed her hoodie and lifted it until he started to see her mesh shirt and gasped seeing her whole side covered in bruises then Naruto dropped the jacket and hugged Hinata and said " Hinata-chan if that happens again you come here and I will meet you." Naruto then let go and wrapped his arm around Hinata's back making her blush then Naruto smiled feeling Hinata lean her head against his shoulder and after seeing Hinata fall asleep Naruto started putting chakra into her to help her heal then he leaned his head back and fell asleep.

Naruto opened his eyes seeing his sensei walk up then looked at Hinata seeing her still asleep then put a finger to his lips and after Kurenai got close enough Naruto said in a whisper to her " Her father kept her up all night and hurt her for not getting down a fighting move her side is just one huge bruise no fresh skin even shown." Naruto then sighed and said " I might kill her father for that." Naruto then chuckled hearing Kurenai say " I don't think either one of you can't train Hinata needs the rest and she has a grip on your arm." Naruto nodded then smiled as he created a shadow clone then said " A shadow clone I get memories and skill it learns so well and I have a jutsu using my chakra for a shadow clone but if I use a little of Hinata's it becomes hers." Naruto then grabbed Hinata free hand blushing a little then with his free hand moved Hinata's hand to do a few hand signs then saw a shadow clone of Hinata showen. Naruto then chuckled seeing Kurenai's surprised look then he said " What I did was super charge Hinata with my chakra and with moving her hand first not mine it makes her use the jutsu and the extra hand signs is to channel the chakra into her." Naruto then sighed looking at Hinata seeing her hair in her face then pushed it out and blushed hearing Shino say " YOu care for her don't you." Naruto chuckled then said looking at Shino "First of all don't sneak up on people like that and second your right I have for about a month she was my first friend and she is family to me like you guys are." Naruto then looked back at Hinata and said " I would go through every kingdom to save anyone of you." Naruto then sighed as he leaned his head against the tree and said " Also go a little easy on my clone. I used 70 percent of my chakra to help Hinata heal and 25 percent on the clone so it can burst easily." Naruto then watches the next 7 hours of training with his team and his with Hinata's shadow clones.

*7 Hours Later*

Hinata slowly opened her eyes feeling rested then she shot her head up and said " What is going on." Hinata was concerned then heard a chuckle and looked to her left seeing Hinata sitting next to her then she released his arm blushing then her blushed deppen hearing Naruto say " You fell asleep on me and I just stayed and didn't wake you up." Hinata just nodded with a blush then said " I had the weirdest dream. I trained for hours with the team." Hinata then got confused hearing Naruto chuckle then heard Naruto explain how he created a shadow clone that connected to her. Hinata was impressed by what Naruto did for her then said with a sad smile " Naruto-kun I am thankful for what you did for me when I was weak." Hinata looked at the ground with a frown then looked back at Naruto feeling him grab her shoulder then blushed hearing Naruto say " Hinata-chan you are not weak and it wasn't weakness it was rest for being injured by your own father." Hinata just nodded, then her blush deepened Naruto huge her then heard him say " Hinata I think of you as family and you are my best friend so if you are ever hurt again just come here and I will meet you here." After talking for another few minutes Hinata left, forming a crush on Naruto and after a few more minutes Naruto left and headed home. As Naruto was walking down the street on the outer part of the kingdom Naruto stopped seeing a group of kids walk in front of him and sighed hearing the leader say " So you are one of them now." Naruto chuckled then said " Not in the mode and you all know I can kick all of your asses with one hand tied behind my back." Naruto then continued walking past them and not even twenty steps Naruto stopped hearing one person say " How is your friend Hinata and it would be ashamed if she got jumped." Naruto turned around and pinned the guy into the wall and said releasing killing intent " Don't even approach her or I will kill you so slowly that you wish that I just ripped off limbs instead." Naruto then let go of the guy and dusted him off and said " It would be a shame if you all found your loved ones with arrows in their chests." Naruto then walked away and headed home.
