Time jump:

Alex sat on the kitchen island munching on some pancakes Carlisle made for her. "You know for a man that doesn't eat food, you really know how to cook."

"Yes, well I needed a hobby during my long life. After music, I took up cooking classes." Carlisle replied.

"Music?"

Carlisle nodded, taking a seat on the chair beside hers. "Yes, piano and violin."

"The piano?" Alex grinned. "So do I, Elijah taught me."

Carlisle smiled softly. "What's the story between Elijah and you?"

Alex quirked a brow. "Really?"

"Just curious, I never thought you would known an Original love."

Alex debated for a moment, not sure it was a good idea in telling him. Elijah and her had been very close, before she left him and his family…well, her family. "Carlisle…if I tell you, I want you to promise me something."

"Anything."

"That you remember it's all in the past. Elijah already found his mate and so have I."

Carlisle frowned, but gave her a slow nod. "Of course."

Taking his hand, she took him into the living room and sat him on the couch. She took a seat across from him, wanting to get a reading on him. "Alright, as you know I was on the run from Micheal and his pack. This was before Derek's pack took me in, a few weeks before Samantha was born. I hadn't realized I was in New Orleans, when I stumbled into another packs territory. Jackson, the alpha, ambushed me with a few of his wolves, demanding I tell him what I was doing on his land. I was weak and pregnant, no strength to fight them all off. I told him I was just passing through and that I meant no harm. Of course he didn't believe me. I didn't know the pack had been attacked a few days earlier. Lost members and they were on high alert. Jackson had me taken to the meeting shack and tied to a post. I was held there for a few days, before Elijah showed up. Man was I a bitch to him at first."

Flashback:

Alex growled at her fail to break the rope, again. They kept her tied to the post for three days, no food and little water. Had it only been her, she wouldn't even have touched the water, but it wasn't. She was carrying her young pup. Sameone due in a few weeks, but at this rate she was fearing for her pups life. Listening to the wolves outside, she growled at hearing Jackson's voice. The moment she got a chance, she was ripping his throat out. Just her luck to fall into this mess. Here she was doing so well avoiding problems and keeping herself under the radar, just to end up tied to a post. Leaning her head back, she closed her eyes, focusing on the noise outside. Jackson was talking to his dog Oliver. Damn mutt did a number on her, after she tried to escape a couple of times. Okay so she may have broken a few of their wolves legs and arms, but they will heal. Her in other words, had to cover her stomach to avoid any harm done to her baby. Her ears perked at hearing a new voice. A female.

*Who is she?* The female asked.

*I don't know, she was snooping around when we found her.* Oliver replied. *Broke a couple of the guys arms and legs trying to get away.*

*Did you ask her?* She asked.

*Yes Haley, but she refuses to speak.* Jackson growled. *Which is why we need Elijah here. Get her to spill already.*

*I don't see why you had to call him in Jackson.* Oliver growled. *We can make her talk.*

*You are not doing her anymore harm Oliver.* Haley snapped. *I haven't seen her, but the stench of her blood is all over the place.*

*I had to teach her a lesson for trying to escape.*

*Let's just hope Elijah sees it that way.* Haley mumbled.

Who they hell was Elijah? Of course it didn't take long for her to find out.

*Haley, Jackson.* There was a pause. *What was that big emergency, you had to call me of all people. And what is that smell?*

*Jackson found a wolf in the woods, they think she might be with the ones that set off the bombs.* Haley answered.

*I was hoping you could compel her to tell the truth.* Jackson said.

*You mean after you nearly beat her to death?* The new voice spat. *I thought you better than this.*

Alex looked up at at hearing the door open, squinting her eyes at the sun light sweeping in. The man stood at the door, staring at her. Alex knew she looked like a mess. Not having any clothes, she refuse to change back into her human self. So at the moment, this man was looking at a dirty, bloody and matted wolf. Alex snarled crouching down in both warning and protecting her belly.

"I am not going to cause you any harm." He spoke with a gentle voice. "My name is Elijah."

Alex snapped her teeth, warning him to stay away from her. She knew what he was. No way was she going to have this bloodsucker anywhere near her or her unborn child. Suddenly she was kicked on the side, sending her tumbling onto the floor. Alex yelped as her back hit the pole she was tied to. Hearing a loud yell, followed by a thud, she lifted her head as much as she could. Elijah had Oliver up against the wall by the throat. Why was he protecting her? He was suppose to be helping them, not her.

"Touch her again and I will rip your heart out." Elijah hissed, snapping the wolves neck. Letting the body fall to the ground, he turned his attention to the wolf. "I am going to help you alright? So do be so kind as to not take a bite out of me." He crouched forward, snapping the rope off her neck and picking her up. "Thats my job." Elijah frowned at how light she was. She was a damn stick.

Alex growled, wanting so hard to jump out of his arms and run far away. But her body wouldn't respond. 'Who the hell was this…this…man?'

Elijah took three steps, before coming to a halt. Looking around, he frowned at the beating sound. Dropping his eyes on the wolf in his arms, he listened closer. His eyes widening at the discovery he made. Along with her low heart beats, sounded an even quieter heart beat. This wolf was pregnant! His distaste for Oliver and Jackson just got worse. Wolves had the ability to know when another wolf was with child, in doing so, they protected the wolf and child. Yet here they dare attack a defenseless female, stave her to the brink of death, risk an innocent child's life and then had the audacity to bring him into this. Feeling her shiver in his arms, he gently placed her on the ground, earning a low growl. "Forgive me darling, but you are shivering in my arms. I am simply going to wrap my jacket around you." Doing as he said, he picked her up and walked towards the door. Turning her head towards his neck, he covered her eyes. "Do not get frighted darling, but seeing the sun after so long might be painful for your eyes."

Alex rolled her eyes, but he was right. 'Don't go getting any ideas now. I don't like you, but I just can't run away yet.' She stiffed at feeling him pause. Taking a few whiff's, she groaned. All she got was his expensive cologne and…him. He smelled of the ocean, rather soothing really.

Alex woke with a start, completely dazed to her surroundings. Look around, she found herself in a room. Where the hell was she? Focusing on her hearing, she caught a couple of voices.

*So, what do you plan on doing with her?* A female asked.

*Help her.* She knew that voice…Elijah. *Give her time to heal.*

*I am all up for helping the defenseless, but a wolf? Really Elijah.* A British accent replied.

*Wouldn't be the first wolf to stay here Niklaus.* Movement was heard. *Besides, she is now under my care. Where I go, she goes.*

She could hear him walking up the steps and getting closer. Yet, she still jumped at the knock on the door. Not able to respond with words, a small growl slipped from her throat. The door creaked open, revealing a handsome, tall and well dressed man. Now that she looked at him, she had to admit he didn't seem so scary. Better looking than any vampire she's met.

"Forgive me, but I took that growl as a 'come in'." Elijah smirked. "I came to see how you were doing." Seeing the look on her face, he chuckled. "There is some clothes on chair. If you'd like to take a shower and change." Alex nodded. Slowly jumping off the bed and trotting into the bathroom. Elijah chuckled, taking that as a his cue to leave her. "I will be downstairs."

Alex shifted back, slipping under the spraying water. She stood under the hot water, allowing it to fall over her tire body. Red water falling down her body. She felt as the past pain, stress and fear escaped her body. She was finally able to take a deep breath and relax. Something in her told her, she was safe for now. They will not find her here. Washing the blood, grim and dirt out of her hair and off her body, Alex shut off the water. Sliding the door open, she reached for one of the towels and wrapped it around herself. Grabbing another, Alex wrapped it around her hair. It didn't take her long to change into the clothes Elijah brought her. It was a Burgundy tank top and black tight jeans. Grabbing her hair into a messy bun, she slipped out of the room and stopped at the top of the stairs, trying to focus on her surroundings.

"Decided to join us I see." The man chuckled at the started wolf. "Relax darling, I mean no harm."

Alex studied him. He was tall, darted hair and with a boyish charm. Her eyes didn't leave him, knowing she couldn't trust him. Something about this kid, was just unnerving. 'Where was Elijah?'

"So, would you like a tour?" He asked, a smirk playing on his lips. "We have quiet a charming home." Alex shook her head. "Aw, come on beautiful. I will make it worth your while." He took a step closer, boxing her against the banister.

"Kol!" Elijah's eyes fell on the young wolf. Her eyes begging him to pull his, idiot brother off her. "Back off."

"Elijah!" Kol chuckled. "You always did have horrible timing."

In a blink of an eye, Elijah pull his brother away from the wolf. Kol groaned as his back hit the wall. "I do not ask twice."

Kol growled, taking a step towards his brother, only to have a hand stop him. "Don't brother." Alex spotted a blond girl, standing between the two vampires. "It will not end well for you."

"I did nothing wrong!" Kol growled.

Elijah scoffed. "I specifically told you to stay away from her. Not even look at her. But as always, you did the opposite of what I asked."

"I was merely curious." Kol smirked.

"Do not te-" Elijah was stopped by a small hand gripping his hand.

Alex could smell the rage filling the room. Last thing she wanted and needed was two vampires killing each other. Reaching out and grabbing his hand, she held him back. "Ca-can you show me around?"

Elijah's features soften slightly. "If that's what you want." Tossing a last warning look at his brother, he lead the little wolf around their home.

After the tour, Alex was lead into the office/library. Taking a seat on the couch, she watched the vampire. He was leaning against his desk casually, arms across his chest and legs crossed. She wasn't sure what to say to him. "Thank you."

Elijah quirked a brow. "She speaks." Seeing the eye roll, he chuckled. "No thanks needed darling."

"Why help me?" Seeing the look of confusion, she sighed. "I am nothing to you. I am a mere stranger, yet you attacked your friend to save me."

"There are a few incorrect facts." Elijah pushed himself off the desk, striding towards the bar. "They were not my friends. I do not condone any harm being done to a woman, much less one with a child."

Alex frowned. "Why protect me?"

Elijah shrugged, taking a sip of his drink. "Something about you is just so intriguing."

"Oh."

Taking a seat beside her, he offered her his cup. "And because something tells me you and your child need it."

Alex chuckled humorlessly, taking a sip of his drink. He had no idea just how much help she needed. "My name is Alex."

Elijah smiled softly. "Lovely name. I am-"

"Elijah!"

"Yeah, that."

Alex frowned at the voice echoing through the house. "Mad wolf."

Elijah chuckled. "Yes, well, Haley is always mad." Giving her a small smile, he stood up effortlessly and straighten his suit. "I will be back in a moment."

"I will be here."

*Haley, so nice of you to brighten our day with your joyfulness.*

*When I asked for your help, I didn't mean attack and kill Oscar!*

*I did not kill him, simply…put him down for a few hours.*

*You had no right in att-*

*Enough Haley!* Alex jumped at the booming of his voice. *You had no right in holding a weak, defenseless, pregnant woman! Harm her in any way you could, for something you and I know she had nothing to do with. To drag me into this as a accomplice! This is low, even for you and your pack of mutts!*

*Jackson was only looking out for his pack!*

*Of course he was.* Shuffling was heard. *I am warning you only this one time Haley. Alex is now under my protection. Should you or anyone come near her, they will find themselves heart less.*

*What is it with you and pregnant wolves?*

There was a pause. *Please, do spread the word. Alex is now under the protection of the Mikaleson's.*

Alex glanced up at hear the door push open. "Thank you."

"I said I will protect you and you child. And I always keep my word."
