By the time she was ready, the guest had already began arriving. She could hear the conversations, the music blaring over said conversations. She listened carefully, pinpointing her 'family'. Only to distract herself with the ongoing conversations of the guest.
'Do you know what this is all about?'
'I heard Elijah has found himself a mate.'
'Really? I heard he kidnapped her.'
'Heard she was a wolf.'
'What is it with pregnant wolves and that man.'
Shaking her head, she chuckled. The things these people can up with. Glancing at herself once more in the mirror, she ran her hand down her belly. The dress was pressed up against her body, causing the belly to be visible. She didn't mind. She was proud to show her soon to be born pup. Regardless of how she was conceived, Alex swore she would be raised with love.
A soft knock broke her from her thoughts. "Come in." The door opened to reveal a suited Elijah. Slipping into the bedroom, he stood before her. He wore a black on black suit, with a blood red tie. His silver watch and ring popping out. "You look really handsome."
Elijah chuckled. "Thank you, as for you..." Grabbing her hand, he pulled her to her feet and twirled her around once. "Look absolutely stunning. I am going to be the most envied man tonight." Giving her hand a kiss, and giving a slight bow, he held his arm out. "Shall we?"
Alex took in a deep breath once more. She was about to go into a courtyard, filled with supernatural beings. She was a wolf and a pregnant one at that. The fear of someone harming her child cane rushing back in. Before she could retreat to the farthest corner in the room, she was grabbed by the arm. Elijah's hand cupping her jaw, tilting her head up. Looking up, Alex was met with beautiful hazel eyes. "Sorry, I am just..." She couldn't say it. She couldn't say she was scared. She didn't want to look weak. Not in front of him.
Elijah chuckled softly, pulling her into a tight hug. "Now darling. I know your scared, but I assure you no will harm come to you. If anyone dares as much as look at you wrong, I will end their miserable life." Kissing her on the head, he held her until she pushed away. "When you are ready love."
Taking a deep breath, she focused on Elijah's heart beat. Alex grabbed his arm once more. "Ready." Giving her a reassuring smile, he lead her out. The moment she walked out the bedroom, she was bombarded by the loud music and talking. She had to close her eyes and focus hard to find Elijah's heart.
"Stay here love." Giving her a quick kiss on the head, he moved to join his siblings at the balcony.
Elijah stood in the front, gazing down at the guest below. Rebekah and Marcel flanked him from either side. Klaus stood beside her, watching over her. Freya was on standby, ready to act should anyone try anything. The music stopped the moment he was seen.
All eyes on him.
"Thank you all for coming tonight. This is indeed a special night for us." Elijah began. "And believe me, when I say this affects you all some way or another." Elijah reaches for the glass of champagne he was handed. He was really dragging all of this out.
"Well what is it already?" Some blond 'kid' yelled from the back left of the crowd. "You has us all come here with no indication as to why."
Elijah's eyes landed on the boy. The warmth from earlier no longer visible. Alex shivered at the mere sight, she can't even imagine what that kid was feeling.
"If you would be so kind as to not interrupt me, I will gladly tell you as to why." Elijah growled. Satisfied at the embarrassment in the kids eye, he cleared his throat. "As of today I-we are officially claiming a new member to the Mikealson family." Whispered and murmurs erupted from the crowd. "Alexandra."
Alex glanced up to see Elijah holding his hand out to her. Taking a step forward she stopped, pulling her hand back into her chest. Taking his hand meant she was apart of them. Which meant putting them in danger. She couldn't do that. Not to them. Taking a step back, she bumped into someone.
"I know what you are thinking, ignore it." Klaus whispered into her ear. "You are family. And we always protect family." Giving her a slight nudge towards Elijah, he stepped back.
Alex gave him a slight growl, before taking the hand of her protector. Leaning into his side, she sought out his comfort. 'Don't look down. Don't look down. Don't...shit' It was eerie seeing all of the creatures of the nights eyes on her. Some looked at her with awe. Others with confusion and weary. One set of eyes in particular looked at her with hated and rage. Forcing her gaze away from them and onto Elijah, she focused on his heart beat and soothing voice.
"Alex is under the protection of all vampires under my order." Marcel spoke from the side. "Should you have a problem with that, take it up with me now." No one spoke.
"And under the protection of the witches." Freya added, getting nods from the witches below.
Elijah glanced down at her. He chuckled at her look of surprise she had. Looking back at the crowd, Elijah cleared his throat. "I am sure everyone here knows what that means. Should any harm come to her, you will be dealing wi-"
"Us." Klaus jumped in. "You will be dealing with all of us. And I assure you, you will loose."
Elijah hid his smirk in Alex's hair. "That was to the point." Raising his glass, Elijah tossed it back. "Now lets get this party going."
The music started back up and the guest began to mingle once more. Still many eyes stayed on her and Elijah. The rest of the Mikealson family, made their way into the crowd. Elijah stayed with her. So far it wasn't too bad, she had him and his protection.
"You okay?" Elijah whispered.
Alex nodded. "Yeah, not as bad as I thought."
"Come lets go down." Placing his hand on her waist, he held her close to his body. As they walked down the stairs, he steered her away from a small group on the left. Before she could see who it was, he pushed her behind him. "Jackson."
Alex growled at hearing the man's name. Stepping from behind Elijah, she stared them square on. Alex was standing still, ready to pounce the moment they made a move.
"Elijah. Ms.-"
"Mikealson." Elijah snapped. "I do hope you remember the agreements for you accepting our invitation tonight."
Jackson stepped back, pushing his pack back with him. "Of course. I just want to speak with her."
Alex frowned, tilting her head to the side. "About what?"
"I-we wanted to apologies for the way we treated you." Jackson mumbled. "We were in a very difficult time. Our pack had just been attacked and we couldn't trust anyone. We thought you might have had something with it. We were wrong."
Alex scoffed, but nodded. "Okay."
"Okay?" Haley asked, moving to stand beside Elijah. "Just like that?"
Alex shrugged. "What would you have me say or do? I rather not dwell on the past. Besides Rebecca poured her soul into this party. I will not ruin it, by tearing both alpha's throat in the middle of the court yard."
Haley growled lowly, taking step towards her. Only to her surprise having Elijah block her way. "Elijah."
"Did I not just make myself clear moments ago?" His voice was low. "Do not make me repeat myself."
Alex could feel the tension began to rise. Now wasn't the time. Grabbing Elijah's arm, she tugged him towards her. "Elijah, come on. I want to dance."
Elijah snapped out of his trance, giving her a small smile. "Of course. Whatever my lady wants."
Moving to the middle of the dance floor, Alex wrapped her arms wound his neck. His hands landing on her hips, pulling her closer to him. As they swayed to the music, she laid her head on his shoulder. Yet, she could feel the hole burning behind her head. She knew who it was and it was really pissing her off
"I take it you and mad wolf have a story?" Alex whispered. The music was loud enough to cover their conversation.
Elijah tilted his head in a so-so gestured. "I wouldn't call it a story. There was something between us. I met Haley when I found out she was carrying my brother's child. Gave my word to protect her and I did. In the end she saw it better fit to marry the alpha of her pack. It was her choice and I respected it."
"Yet she seems to act like a wolf protecting her property." Alex scoffed. "I don't mean to cause you any problems Elijah."
Elijah stopped abruptly pulling her towards the stairwells, away from the crowd. Pushing her back against the wall, he pinned her in. His hands placed palm down on each side of her head. His face was inches away from hers. She could smell the champagne on his breath. Pulling one hand back, he tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
"You are not and never will be a problem Alexandra. What happened between-or lack of- between me and Haley, is over and done with. She made her choice and I moved on with my life. I am no ones property." Elijah whispered, leaning in closer. His lips inches from her. "Do not worry yourself over her. Instead lets focus on you right now."
Alex exhaled shakily. "Everyone is looking Elijah." She was itching to taste him once more.
"Really?"
"Y-yeah."
Elijah chuckled. "Well then, lets give them something to look at."
Alex had no time to respond. He cupped her jaw and crashed his lips onto hers. Within seconds she wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him closer to her. It wasn't a sweet or caring one, no this was a claiming one. He was showing everyone in the room who she belonged to. Not that she was complaining,
"Elijah, please brother control yourself." Klaus appeared beside them, pulling Elijah away from Alex. "You are like damn octopus."
"You are such a bother somethings Niklaus." Elijah growled.
Klaus chuckled. "So I have been told." Draping an arm around Elijah's shoulder, he gave him a sloppy kiss on the cheek. "Due forgive me little wolf, but I am in need of my brother and his political ideas."
Elijah frowned. "We had agreed not tonight brother."
"I know, but the humans are complaining about the wolves and the wolves are complaining about the witches. Lets not even get started on the baby vamps." Klaus grumbled, tossing his drink back.
Alex chuckled, having gathered her wits she pushed herself off the wall. "Go, I will find Becca and Freya."
Elijah sighed, giving her a quick kiss. "Won't take long."
Alex leaned back against the cold brick wall once more. She couldn't believe what her life was at the moment. One moment she was being taught to take over her father's spot in the pack. The next on the run from her 'new' pack and hunters. Now living with a family of old ass vampires and under their care. She wondered what was next, although at this very moment she hoped this phase of her life wouldn't end any time soon.
How wrong she was.
