Basilisk

Ok that was strange, where was Shell going? Maybe she decided to go to the bathrooms? For whatever reason I did not like these games, they seemed cruel even for me. Still I watched transfixed as the first gladiator emerged from the arena. They were a dull brown with hints of orange darting on their scales, no doubt a Mudwing. The next gladiator came and it appeared to be a Seawing with dark green scales.

"Introducing, Toad of the Mudwings! And Kelp of the Seawings! Now I bet your wondering why are we putting Seawings into battle? Are we turning against you? No of course not! This Seawing is one of the rebels that we caught slinking around! I hope you both impress us! Claws up, Fire ready? FIGHT" announced one of the Skywings through the megaphone.

The Seawing looked frantic and kept looking for, was that Shell? Like they could save them, maybe because they were in the same tribe? Why would a rebel think the Seawings in the crowd would help? Wait why was she on that column, was she playing a joke? She liked to play jokes all the time and only about half of them were funny. The Mudwing, Toad, was easily getting the best of Kelp who seemed to not even try, more cowering. "If they were going to have the games might as well make it interesting! Ive seen Jelly Stains that are better than this and they are freaking Jelly Stains!" I thought, slightly annoyed. But why was Shell up there? Did she volunteer without me? She had no chains binding her currently which meant she signed up. "Why does she get all the fun?" I thought angrily..

I turned by head back around right when I heard a sickening crack, the Seawing lay dead with a skywing covered in jewelry standing above her, she had a smug expression and I felt like I should know her name but I nothing popped up. "Ugh that was positively BORING!" said the orange Skywing with a roll of her eyes. Before she flew up to the megaphone guy and kicked him off the platform he was on, luckily he was able to outstretch his wings before he hit the ground.

"So that was boring am I right?," she said laughing, "I mean come on who wants to see That hot mess! Ok break everybody!" Sadly I was tempted to agree the stands seemed to all be shouting yes though. She flew up to one of the podiums where the nobles stay. Then it hit me she was of high status why did I not think of that? She was able to charge into a arena battle without anyone stopping her. I heard flapping above me as Shell seemed to settle down next to me again.

"Where did you go?" I asked, "Why did you sign up without me," Shell seemed to shuffle uncomfortably, "Huh? Well I had a head ache you know... and I don't exactly know what happened? I did not sign up though?" she replied but it sounded more like a question than an answer, that was weird, but I decided it was best to ponder it later. "Oh, wanna go get something to drink since its break time," I decided to say aloud. "Nah I know you wanted to spar... usually during break time they let us spar to pass the time," replied Shell. "Or when the Queen feels like postponing whenever there is going to be a dramatic event," I thought amused.

Some Skywings grumbled at us as we made our way down, nothing unusual after all I never understood why they wanted to ally with Rainwings, even though they were my tribe, they still all seemed to be ridicuously happy and useless, and they never fought like ever, what was up with them!?

"I tripple dodge Double Dare you to turn invisible and smack one of the guards!" whispered Shell holding back a laugh.

"Haha very Funny! Your to cowardly to scare a Skywing! Scaredy cat! Scaredy cat!" I whispered back.

"Nuh uh! I can totally do it but you were the one dared! You can't back out, its tripple dodge double dare!" Shell said.

"Fine but your getting a extra horrible one next time," I said as I made my scales turn the color of the arena around us and crept towards a Skywing guard and wacked him with my tail, before kicking him, that felt good, maybe I should throw him off his stand?.

"YOWCH! WHO WAS THAT!?" screamed the Skywing guard, "IT WAS A MEDDLESOME RAINWING HUH!? SHOW YOURSELF YOU LITTLE PEST AND FEEL MY RAGE, DO YOU HAVE NO HONOR!"

Shell gestured with her tail slightly sending a message like we Have to go quickly! I secretly wished I could go fight that Skywing as smacking him felt so satisfiying but the other Skywing guards would join in and Shell may be associated with me so I silently flew towards Shell.

"Well that was close," she muttered trying to contain her amusement.

I did not reply and when we hit the sands of the arena I attacked instantly jabbing her, soon we were rolling around sort of play fighting, I half wished I was real battling but I figured with the war going on i'd be battling soon anyways.

"Ummm where am I? Who are you!? Why are we fighting!? Im not a fighter!" yelped Shell quickly going airborne and bolting away intill I lost sight of her.

Well that was the first that ever happened I wondered why she had left and I sailed after her hoping one of the skywings would not notice us flying away.
