Amity POV

It has been three years now since Luz's disappearance. And in that time, Amity had changed. She had changed quite a bit. Her entire appearance was different to say the least. Not to mention her personality, her mannerisms, her living situation. Really, everything.

She lay in her bed, staring at the ceiling in an angry state. There, suspended from the ceiling, was a poster of the Emperor. The image of the tyrant was adorned with burn marks, puncture holes, and currently had two darts protruding from the mask he always wore. Perfectly landed directly in the eye slits.

Amity fumed looking up at that awful face, and in a roar of frustration, cast a fire spell, turning the remains of the poster into cinders, that were quickly dissipated by the breeze flowing in through her window. She sighed, and sat up, casting a spell to retrieve the darts from the ceiling, ensuring they wouldn't come loose and fall on her while she slept. She walked to a table in her room, took another poster, and with a spell, fastened it to the same spot the previous one was just destroyed in. Directly over her bed. A reminder of why she fought. And an easy target at all times of the day.

She moved to the desk in her room, and took out her diary. At times when she was this furious, she would turn to her private journal to try and get some of her anger out on the pages. Her family didn't deserve to be treated harshly when she let her anger out on them. Be it physically or emotionally, it wasn't fair. And she knew as much even if she couldn't stop herself in the moment.

She took a deep breath, summoning up her quill and ink, and began to write. As she poured her fury into the pages, she internally reflected on herself. Frantically scribbling out every raging thought that came to mind, not even caring about her handwriting's appearance. Most of her diary entries were barely legible. Be it from writing through tears, or with rage, or a combination of the both.

It had been three years now, and while Amity knew why she had changed, she still surprised herself sometimes when she reflected on it. For starters, she had never been the type of person to have so little self control. She used to keep her emotions in check, most of them at least. After all, it was unbecoming of a Blight to let their feelings control them.

However, that all changed when shortly after Luz had vanished, Amity had lost it at her parents, and Odalia had all but kicked her out of the house. Her father had tried to stop his daughter from leaving, saying that this was all a big misunderstanding and it could be worked out, but Amity didn't bother to listen.

Sure, she had learned before at the brawl that her father was open to change, but at that time, she was too sore to bother with him. He would have to wait for a later date.

After being kicked from her home, Amity had come to live at The Owl house. Eda, much to Amity's relief, had welcomed her in without a second thought. That was three years ago however, and now, Amity sat in her own room, pouring her frustration at the world into pages of a book.

She took a moment to shake the strain from her hand. It had been a while since she had written this vigorously, and it caused her wrist and fingers to ache. She sighed, and took a moment to stand and walk around the room, trying to calm herself.

That was when she passed the mirror, and took a moment to look over herself. She smiles sadly, as a thought crosses her mind. I doubt Luz would even recognize me now. Amity looked herself up and down, taking in her appearance. For starters, her hair was still green. She hadn't bothered to change the color yet, and hadn't even dyed it to keep it green. Instead, reaching half way down her back, Amity's hair was half green, half auburn.

She looked at the sad state it was in. Tangled and unkempt, she reminded herself of Eda... Almost. Amity still had youth on her side, so her hair was more fluffy and spry, despite her neglect of it. She sighed, and Brought a handful of the tangled mess in front of her to inspect it. The dye her mother had used was powerful, and never faded. It stayed vibrant, even after three years without any sort of proper upkeep. She sighed. Maybe it was time to finally re-dye it. After all, her green locks didn't really match her new clothing choices.

Speaking of clothing, Amity looked over her body now, taking in her messy appearance. After being banished from her house, she had stopped putting so much effort into her appearance, and instead elected to just put on whatever seemed the most comfortable. What she instead wore right now was some school merchandise/pride apparel. Her shirt was a white base, with pink accents on the sleeves and collar. Plastered across the front in all capital letters was a bright pink labeling of the name "HEXIDE".

Looking down to her legs, today, Amity wore a pink skirt that ended just above her knees. It was tight fitting, but made of a strange material that made it stretchy, and unrestricting in her movement. She rather liked it. And it matched her school shirt well.

The dressing standards at Hexide had become more lax in the last three years. Especially once Principal Bump regained his memories from before Luz's disappearance. Eda and Lilith, along with some help from Amity's excellent studying skills, and access to the library, had made some new discoveries in glyph magic. Albeit, only 1 new discovery. Both of the elder witches had surmised that without Luz's energetic and chaotic method of discovery, the two of them really struggled to learn more than what Luz had taught them. The only reason that had even discovered this glyph was from the videos Luz had left, and a bit of luck.

Amity sighed as she thought about the human. How she missed her. Luz would have been so excited to learn this new spell. The spell that Eda and Lilith created allowed them to restore people's memories from before Luz changed time. The people still had to care about Luz to some degree, and Luz had to care about them. But, this allowed people with weaker connections to the Human to still remember her. Luz's original spell only excluded those who loved her and those she loved from the spell. Your school principal doesn't really fall into that category.

Yet, Principal Bump still did care for Luz. So, when his memories were returned, he practically changed school policies back to the ones that Luz had inspired overnight. Multi-track classes were allowed again. And, after some time, uniform requirements were lifted too. According to Principal Bump, Luz had talked with him a few times about the schools in the human realm, and had expressed that the only schools that had strict uniform requirements were ones that tried to suppress creativity and joy. Luz had made this claim in an effort to wear her cat-eared hoodie to school. But Principal Bump took it seriously, and had decided that so long as students mostly wore colors related to the tracks they were in, they could wear whatever style of clothes they wanted.

The school still provided the original uniforms, but now, it wasn't mandatory. And Amity had taken advantage of this to change her style too. That was why her choices of apparel had changed so much. That, and it kind of felt nice to her that she knew it pissed off her mother. She looked over herself, taking in the last changes to her appearance, the accessories she now wore.

She had gotten her ears pierced now, and wore jagged piercings, rather than round and professional looking ones. Additionally, she wore wristbands that had small metal studs on them, and lastly, she wore a black choker around her neck. While these appearance choices weren't common in the Boiling Isles, they were something teens wore in the human realm.

Since Luz had gone missing, Amity had turned to learning more about the Human Realm in order to comfort herself, and feel closer to Luz. And to do so, she frequented the Human Realm, heading there to learn about the place and the things they did. The sheer level of strangeness and unfamiliarity made Amity remember Luz fondly, and she took joy in her trips.

After Luz rewound time, the portal door had also been restored, and was back in Eda's possession. So, often, their whole group would take trips into the human realm to help Eda collect things to sell, or to remind themselves of the missing Human. They also frequently visited with Camila Noceda, Luz's mom. Keeping her updated on what was going on, what was being done to find Luz, and to reminisce and hear about the human. Camila was full of stories about Luz, and Amity found these times to be when she felt closest to the missing human.

Amity sighed, and looked away from the mirror. She was angry enough this morning. She didn't need to depress herself too thinking about Luz right now. She thought of Luz every day before bed. So, she would push those thoughts away for now, and reflect on the human later. For now, she needed to finally get moving. Sure, it was Saturday, but she had work to do. The Library always needed help. And reading to the children there always seemed to cheer her up.

She made sure she looked proper enough to be acceptable in public, before leaving her room. Instantly, her mood soured from the cacophony of noise downstairs. Amity fumed.

Over the last three years, The Owl House had become something of a refugee for those without homes. And as such, the number of residents had kept increasing. Eda had even been forced to increase the size of the house, much to Hooty's delight. Now, the small Owl House was more of a small estate. Many rooms, and rather large in its clearing.

And those residents were what annoyed her today. For starters, it was her twin siblings. After Odalia had banished Amity, they practically ran away from home. They had already been considering it, as they claimed they felt Eda was more of a mom to them and a mentor figure than Odalia ever was.

Secondly, was the Golden Guard, Hunter. He chose not to return directly to Belos, and chose to live more on his own. He still worked in the coven guard, but as a spy, and a nuisance. It seemed that Luz's spell protected Hunter from Belos entirely, and he was prevented from even interacting with Hunter on his own accord. So, Hunter was free to do as he pleased for the most part.

And his choice was to move into The Owl House, when Eda offered him a room. While Hunter wasn't noisy on his own, or even rude, her siblings took it upon themselves to bring the shy witch out of his shell. And, as a result, worked only as a fuel to her twin's evil fire.

Amity sighed, and was about to head downstairs to deal with the chaos, when the one voice in the house that she didn't hate called out to her.

"Good morning, Amity." Her fathers voice called out to her, as he left his room.

"Good morning father" Amity replied formally, falling back into old habits. Her father only cringed at this.

"I told you that you no longer need to be formal with me. I regret that I ever encouraged that behavior. You are far too bright a person to be restricted to such dull speech." He smiled.

Amity nodded. "I know. It's just old habits. Give me some time."

She looked over at her father. Most people's looks had changed in the last few years, yet her father was one of the few that did not. He looked exactly the same. Aside from his much kinder expression. After two years, he had finally reached out to his kids again. He explained that he and Odalia had finally split, and apologized for it taking so long. He explained that their oath made it hard to split, but he had found a way as soon as he could.

He had then taken the next year to re-earn their trust. And just under a month ago, he had moved into The Owl House too at Eda's request. She claimed that she needed additional hands to guard the house, since she was the only adult guarding a bunch of children. But Amity was pretty sure she just wanted Alador there to help maintain some semblance of calm. The house was full of hormonal, and emotional teenagers, and Eda struggled with being a parental figure with just one kid and a small demon. 4 older kids and a still small but ever more chaotic demon? She was in over her head.

Amity laughed to herself before turning to her father. "Is there anything I can help with today?"

"No, nothing at all. I just wanted to say good morning." He smiled before heading towards the stairs. As a loud crash was heard, he sighed. "I wish the other three were less destructive like you."

Amity laughed out loud this time. "Maybe. But they are nicer." She smirked. Her father didn't say anything at that, choosing to just avoid the topic. Amity snickered, taking that as an answer in itself.

That was true though. Nowadays, she is a much more cruel person. Were she not one of Principal Bump's favorite students, and one of the top students, she would have been expelled for fighting by now. More often than not, Amity would act with her fists first. She got into fights at least once a week, and both Eda and her father had given up on trying to convince her to stop.

She had also become much more sarcastic and snarky. The one exception was her father. She was still polite with him. Mostly, because he didn't annoy her that often. There were times she lashed out at him, but it was pretty rare compared to the other members of the house.

Point in kind, as her brother and sister sprinted past her up the stairs, knocking her to the side, in an effort to escape Hunter who was chasing them angrily, Amity flashed both her metaphorical and physical fangs at the trio.

"Could you fuckers watch where you are going for once?!" She snapped, all her efforts at calming herself down this morning going to waste. Hunter continued to chase Edric, while Emira turned her focus to Amity's outburst with a smile.

"Or what, dear sister? We both know you are as harmless as a flower. That human completely domesticated your ass in no time at all." Emira teased, with a smirk. Normally, that comment would make Amity freeze and flush. But this morning, she was not in the mood. Instead, she cast a spell, causing abomination jelly to form and pin Emira to the wall. Amity's sister could only yelp in surprise as she was trapped.

"Be glad that I love you, dear sister." She mocked Emira's tone. "Because otherwise I would have knocked you on your ass for that comment." Amity snarled, before heading down the stairs, leaving her sister to figure out how to escape on her own.

Amity sighed. Today is going to be a long one.

She moved to the kitchen, and sat at the table, relieved to find that no one was there. She quickly prepared a bowl of cereal, and sat at the table. She thought to herself as she ate breakfast. Most people's looks had changed in the last three years. And the residents of her house were no exception. Not all of them though.

For starters, Eda and King looked all but the same. Eda's white hair had darker streaks of gray now, but other than that, she looked identical. Her hair still functioned as some magical storage space, something that still baffled Amity, and she still wore the same outfits.

King had barely grown an inch. He was still the tiny demon he always was. Eda and Lilith had come to believe that being a Titan, he would take much longer to grow than most demons, or that there was some other step in his development that was still missing. However, in the meantime, he was pretty much the equivalent of a house pet. And gave Amity's palisman Ghost a run for her money on who was the most cat-like.

Next was her siblings. Edric and Emira. They still looked identical to each other, even their clothes matched. Both had messy hair, Emira's leading half way down her back, Edric's short. Both wore loose beanies on the crown of their heads, that looked like they were about to fall off. Both also wore matching fingerless gloves, and each wore one of a matching pair of earrings. They each wore light blue long sleeved shirts under torn vests that looked ratty and worn. Edric wore tight jeans, while Emira wore booty shorts (that is what the humans called them) and half of a pair of leggings. One leg was clothed, the other was bare.

Hunter had also changed his style. He now wore a yellow hoodie, and his hair pulled back into a loose man bun. The sleeves of the hoodie were pushed up to his elbows, and underneath he wore a navy blue tank top. For pants, he wore jeans, another human realm article. His appearance overall looked pretty good for him, Amity mused.

And though they didn't live in The Owl House, other people in her life had changed as well. Willow dressed in mostly black under clothes, but wore a tan leather trench coat with peaked shoulders. Her style, while less expressive or elaborate, looked very fitting on her form. She had become more quiet, and pragmatic in the last years. Choosing to observe everything around her, rather than openly participate. She had this 'bad ass' vibe about her.

Gus had changed too. Ever the human fanatic, all of his clothes now were from the human realm. He wore something called "skinny jeans" over his legs and a tight fitting light blue long sleeved shirt on his torso. He wore an undersized vest over that, in a matching dark blue color to his jeans. His hair was shaved on the sides of his head, and sat in a comed forward style atop his head.

Lastly, was the changes Lilith had made. She wore a black dress, in which the bottom came to just above her ankles. She wore a tight belt around her waist, which accentuated her figure. Her hair cut into a bob style, and she wore a scarf around her neck that flowed flamboyantly over her shoulder. The scarf, which Amity still couldn't believe, was a gift from her father. Amity tried very hard to avoid that knowledge that her mentor and her father seemed to be getting closer. Nope. Nothing was happening there.

She sighed, as she cleaned her dishes and put them away, before turning to head out the door, starting her day.
