Chapter 3
Zuko and Lenetta walked off together in companionable silence, they both felt lighter after talking about their rough pasts. I've never told anyone about why I'm on my own before, surprisingly it actually felt good to tell them, Lenetta thought, she smiled to herself. I've never felt so light and free before, I'm kinda glad I told her, I'm glad I have a friend who doesn't just see me as Fire Nation, she sees me for me.
Then suddenly there was a rustling in the bushes not too far from where they were. They abruptly stopped walking and listened. Suddenly an armadillo bear came out from the bushes! Zuko bended a flame at it, Lenetta rushed forward with her sword and struck at it. The bear swung at her and she leapt backwards, she shot a fireball at the bear's chest and it hit.
The bear howled as it fell backward, Lenetta walked forward and gave it the final killing blow by stabbing it. Zuko walked up to the dead bear, " That was a close one.", Zuko said. " Yeah.", Lenetta sighed in relief. " And now we have some supper!", Lenetta exclaimed. " I'll help you carry it.", replied Zuko. " Thank you, it sure is a good thing you came along huh.", Lenetta told him. " Yeah it really is hehe, that bear probably would've attacked you if I didn't bend at it in time.", Zuko said, " I'm glad you're safe Lenetta.", Zuko told her with a relieved look on his face. " Aw Zuko!", Lenetta exclaimed. " It's true, I don't know what I'd do if anything happened to you.", Zuko told her, blushing slightly. Lenetta blushed too, And I don't know what I'd do if you got hurt.
Lenetta stopped in front of Zuko and gazed into his eyes, " Nothing is going to happen to me, I promise, especially not if I have anything to say about it.", Lenetta told him with a smirk. Zuko smiled at her. She went serious again. " And I won't let anything bad happen to you or Iroh either.", Lenetta smiled at him. " We'll both protect each other, and we'll be one heck of a team.", Zuko told her and they both smiled at each other.
" We'd better get back before Iroh gets worried.", Lenetta said as they started walking again. " Yeah we definitely don't want Uncle to worry, you don't wanna see what he's like when he's worried.", Zuko said in a joking manner. " Oh yeah, do tell.", Lenetta said. " Well if he gets really worried sometimes he'll actually cry.", Zuko said. " He sees me like a son and I see like a father, its been that way since his son died during the Siege of Ba Sing Se .", Zuko had a sad look on his face as he remembered his cousin. " I'm so sorry.", Lenetta told him with a hand on his shoulder. Zuko nodded.
They continued walking in silence until they got back to camp, with the armadillo bear in tow. " Whoa, I can already smell it cooking.", Iroh said, drooling a little. " I know right, we haven't armadillo bear in awhile.", Zuko said, Lenetta looked up in surprise. " Really, why not?", Lenetta asked. " We spent a lot of our time on a boat.", Zuko replied. " Ah.", Lenetta said, remembering that he had been looking for the Avatar.
They got to work cooking the bear, Lenetta did the skinning with her sword, And Zuko and Iroh did the cooking part. Afterwards they tucked into their meal.
" Mmmm, this is delicious!", Zuko said with delight. " Indeed, thanks for this Lenetta.", Iroh told her with extreme gratitude. " Your welcome guys.", Lenetta said. I'm glad I was able to do this for them.
After their meal they went into Lenetta's tent and went to sleep.
