It's not a long or exciting chapter, but I needed a fill-in. The next one will be a few days before the next school year starts.
Anyways enjoy:
Next chapter:
I was shocked to say the least. What the hell was he doing here?! Was he one of them? Did he join them? "Ian, wh-what are you doing here?"
"Oh, just running an errand for my dad. He has some business with Mr. Malfoy." Ian stepped down beside me, sitting next to me. "But I have to ask the same. What are you doing here?"
I couldn't tell him. One, it wasn't something I wanted to bloat about. Two he wouldn't keep his mouth shut. And three, he was no one to me. "I can't say."
"Hmm, alright then." He jumped to his feet. "But it wouldn't be a surprise if you were to tell me you have joined the death eaters."
"What?!" The nerve of this idiot. "I didn't join them!"
"So what, you have accepted Malfoy's proposal?" Ian asked.
"You're an idiot." I growled.
Ian crouched down in front of me, taking my hand in his. "Listen, I have screwed up big time in the past year or so. My life is a mess and if it hadn't been for you, I would probably be dead somewhere. I know you Athena. I know you live that husband of yours and your friends. So for whatever the reason you are here for, I really hope it was worth it."
"It was. It is." I whispered. "This is going to cause a storm. One I don't see myself free."
"I know you joined them, Athena." Ian whispered. "I walked in just as you did the pact. I was shocked, but like I said I know who you are." He reached for my arm, exposing the death mark. "This isn't you. This mark was not made to stain your arm." He pulled my sleeve back down. "I know I ruined the little friendship and trust you had in me, but I hope I can win that back someday."
"It's going to take more than nice words for that Ian." I pulled my arm out of his grip.
"I know." Ian mumbled. "But it's a start if I say so myself."
"You're the only one saying it." I scoffed.
Ian mimicked back my words in a childish way. "Anyways, I have to go. I have to get back to my dad. See you around."
I watched him take his leave, driving down the driveway. I didn't know what the hell that was, but I didn't like it. Something about his was off. Ian was never this caring; the dude was a jerk. Come to think about, why the hell did I ever think I fell for him. I must have been temporarily insane. Yeah, that's the only reason.
"Are you Athena?'
I glanced behind me spotting an older woman in all black, glaring down at me. "Who's asking?"
"You are coming with me." She ordered.
I raised a brow at her tone. She clearly didn't know who she was messing with. "I don't know about you, but I was taught never to leave with strangers." She gave me bored look. "Stranger danger."
"You have been ordered by the dark lord to accompany us on a mission." She replied.
"Ordered?" I scoffed. That man lost no time, did he? "Where are we going?"
"No need to worry about the small details." She replied.
I frowned. "Small details? I believe the destination is actually one of the biggest details."
"Listen, we are just doing a job." She snapped. "You are coming with us, because that is what was ordered."
"Are you always this uptight?" I jumped to my feet, dusting the dirt off my pants. "Do I need to take anything?"
"No, you won't be doing anything."
"Then why the hell am I going?!"
She sighed, turning to glare back at me. "How many times do I have to tell you. It's an order." Seeing the look of annoyance on her, had me dying of laughter on the inside. Just because I am here, doesn't mean I won't drive them insane. This was going to be fun, well only a little bit.
To my surprise, we ended up in Diagonally. On our way here, we were met up with four other death eaters. I wasn't sure what we were doing, but whatever it was felt wrong to me. And how right I was. The woman, who I found out was named Diana blew open the door to a small home. I was held back by one of the men, as they invaded the home. I stood there like an idiot as I heard the screams of a woman and the cries of children. Anytime I tried to move and help, I was pushed back by the man. I couldn't help them even if I wanted to. After what seemed like hours, Diana came back out with a man. He was shaking like a leaf, begging them to let him go. The moment his eyes locked on mine; I froze. It was a haunting look I will never forget.
"Why are you taking him?" I muster up all my courage just to say those simple words. "What did he do?"
She pulled his arm out, showing me the death mark. "He betrayed us. For that he will be punished."
I watched her drag him pass me, not caring for the crying family left inside. Before I could take a step into the house, a hand came over my mouth and pulled me into an alley. I was pushed up against the bricked wall, Sirius standing in front of me.
Pulling his hand away from my mouth, I stood there gapping like a stupid fish. "W-what are you doing here?"
"What am I do-what the hell are you doing here?!" He whispered/yelled. "What are you doing with them?!"
"Sirius, you shouldn't be here." I whispered. "You need to leave."
"Not until you tell me what the hell is going on."
"I can't. Not here." The look in his eyes was something I had never seen before. "Sirius please."
"Whatever they have on you is not worth this." Sirius whispered.
I cupped his jaw, pulling him in for a deep kiss. "You have no idea what you are saying. What I saved was worth everything Sirius."
"Athena?!"
"I have to go."
Sirius wouldn't let go of me. In fact, his fingers dug deeper into my waist. "Don't."
"I will tell you everything tomorrow, please trust me." Walking out of his hold, I suddenly felt cold. The further I walked away from him, the more it felt I was abandoning him. Glancing over my shoulder, I spotted the midnight black dog. 'Look away. Look away.' That was one of the hardest things I have had to do.
Time jump:
After arriving back at the Malfoy manor, I took a seat in the family room. I wasn't too sure what to do. the school year was over. I didn't get a chance to say good bye to my friends. I couldn't go back home to Sirius. Did they expect me to live here? Was I supposed to be doing something? I wonder what happened to the man we brought. More importantly, I wonder what happened with Sirius? I know I promised him I would see him again, but in doing so I risk putting him in danger again. So the best option I had right now was telling him everything in a letter. 'God I was the worse.'
Ian:
Ian walked into the house, announcing to his parents he was back. Walking into the kitchen, he was meet with his father and Lucius. "Isn't it bad if you are seen here?"
Lucius rolled his eyes. "So, I take it everything is on its way?"
"Yes." Ian replied. "But I have to ask. What interest do you have in my friendship with Athena?"
"Just stick to doing what is ordered of you Regain her trust. Get close to her once more." Lucius stood to leave. "The rest is none of your concern. If you want your desire to join our dark lord by his side, just do what you are told."
"Yes. Sir."
Sirius:
Sirius stormed back into his place, throwing his jacket onto the couch with rage. "What the hell are you doing Athena." Taking a seat on the couch, he gripped his head in his hands. "Why are you doing this? What could be the reason?" A small pecking on his window caught his attention. Seeing the black owl with a letter, he opened the window. Retrieving the letter, he ripped it open upon seeing his name written in her handwriting.
Sirius,
I know you are probably wondering what the hell is going on. I don't have a lot of time to explain and there is no way I can meet with you out in public. So, I am going to tell you everything here. The day you died I found a way to bring you back, but like I said it came with a price. In order to for you to return, I agreed to stand by Voldemort. I know you must think I am crazy, but please trust me on this. The moment I find a way out I will take it, but I need you to stay away. Do not look for me. Do not write me. If you do, you will be putting everything we have done in jeopardy. You need to focus and help keep harry safe. I will help in any way I can from here.
No matter what happens from here on, please don't forget. I love you. I will always love you.
Your Athena.
Sirius clutched the letter in his fist. "Fuck!"
