Chapter 43 – Fire All Around Me

It was all going to shit. Everyone knew it. Unknown to Shoto, his allies were dealing with a surprise strike from RN's private army. Shoto never thought he would be working alongside his wayward brother, but he supposed that was better than the alternative. But that would be ruined with the arrival of Goto.

"Sorry, I'm late…I was just done murdering a pa-"

"Get out of the way!" Touya scream

"TOO LATE!" Nine said sinking his fangs into Goto's neck alongside his claws.

Shoto could see it, the energy that Nine was siphoning out of Goto. The screams of the villain as Nine began to laugh as bioelectricity surged through his body before beginning to bulk up in size. Nine ran his arm through Goto's chest holding his beating heart in his hand before licking the back of Goto's neck tasting the sanguine blood.

"Sweet…" Nine said with a hollow laugh.

Touya noticed there were nothing where Shoto was. Shoto was already gone, flying as fast as he could. He immediately called Drake and told him what happened.

"This is a disaster. Well, we got issues on our front too…Rendo Nexus has dropped the pretenses. They've sent a hit squad." Sapphire Shadow remarked. "Get to your siblings and get them safe!"

Sapphire Shadow hung up before snapping the neck of another goon. Nezu would have taken issue with doing that on UA grounds but considering one of the RN hit squads attacked UA High…he was more than willing to let it slide.

Nezu's Espeon was on the man's shoulder as he walked up.

"Mr. Arashi. I believe that was the last one." Nezu said.

"It was a show of force…a way of making it clear that they can run us down." Sapphire Shadow said tiredly. "I…"

"Drake, please…you've been fighting for hours." Nezu remarked.

"There's still the problem of Nine." Sapphire Shadow said panting. "He's a warper now…so until he's dealt with…I can't rest."

"With Nine after Touya, I may have no choice but to authorize for Class 1-A to help…I don't want to, but I won't let you run yourself ragged." Nezu said getting out his phone.

Without after word, the shinobi hero flew off to track Nine.

Shoto was shaken. He was seriously debating getting his siblings off planet for the moment. A part of him hoped Touya was somehow enough, but the big flame he could see in the distance made his heart sank. He stopped mid-air as he could sense it. Touya? Dying. Nine was coming to Deika. Shoto landed on the road entering the city to see several people armed and ready to fight as Nine was edging closer.

"Kirishima?" Shoto said seeing his classmate steeling himself.

"Yeah, I couldn't leave my girl alone." Kirishima said as they could all see him. "Here he comes."

As Nine inched closer, a giant cage came down on Nine before he was forcibly sealed away by it. Everyone looked up to see a ship bearing RN's symbol before a voice boom out of it via megaphone.

"Considering your pathetic lives lucky…we have bigger fish to fry."

The ship made it exit with the cage.

"Does anyone else feel we've been blueballed?" One person asked. "Because I was ready…I was ready to fight…and they just left like we weren't worth shit!"

"Stop complain'. Better this way…there won't be any more bloodshed." Applejack said with relief in her voice.

Most were happy for the Rendo Nexus's rapid retreat…others not so much. Pigs seem to fly considering both Izuku and Bakugo were on the same page. Considering Nine was captured by RN and escorted out meant they…and everyone else was denied fighting him. The shinobi hero had more mixed feelings.

"There is a sliver lining to this…" Drake said using his watch to return to his civilian wear looking weary. "Whatever got RN to back out of an invasion…had to be important."

"Looks to be the case…" Jericho said looking upon a PDA from one of the RN corpses. "They're leading a strike on Geist Fox's turf…and from the looks of it…RN is winning."

"Are we supposed to just sit and wait for them to come back?" Izuku asked fuming.

"Yes. I know you hate to hear that, but yes. Like them, we got fish to fry. Unlike them, they can see this as a lost cause. They're not going to return…not with the fact they got Nine as some energy sucking monster. It would be more profitable for them to use him to terrorize worlds with less warpers." Drake remarked. "Meaning…"

"They played everyone like we're fiddles." Albedo said bluntly.

"Can we even call this a win?" Bakugo asked.

"We can. For one, the planet still stands. Plenty injured, but no deaths." Nezu said relived.

"If you're counting civilians. Nine managed to kill his friends…Muscular and Dabi before being captured. Honestly, good riddance. Saved us the trouble…and less problems on the board." Drake said smiling a bit. "Property would have been damaged…but it can be replaced. Besides, considering Nine was hauled by RN. I don't think he'll be in good shape for long."

"Where's Shoto?" Jericho asked.

"I texted him. He's staying with Deika with his siblings. Kirishima's there too." Mina said.

"Ok then…" Drake said with a yawn. "That's good…I…"

Mortimer came out of his ball to put Drake on his back to carry the sleepy guardian home. Jericho rubbed Drake's hair.

"He's been working far too hard…" Jericho said.

As Drake was returned home and put to bed, the Red Phoenix Pirates were in the midst of a jam aboard the Retro Revival. Rendo Nexus has essentially stalled them from moving across space.

"Ok, we need a plan for what we're going to do after this insanity clears up." Fenix remarked.

"I got an idea. We might be stuck in space for a bit, but I can still do some networking. Contact Zeno of DBG-22 with a substantial offer. How do one of you feel being a God of Destruction?" Kyu asked as they all looked at her like she was crazy.

"That sounds awesome!" Stain eagerly said. "Can I purge evil as one?"

"Of course you can…my son." Kyu said with a wide grin.

Fenix and the Red Phoenix Pirates were all nervously sweating at the idea. Toga spoke up to try and change the subject.

"My paperwork…to get my first name legally changed to Raine was completely." Raine squeaked out.

(A/N: Don't you just hate an anti-climax? Well, this was needed considering FFI is still connected to this story. With that in mind, I'm going to do a bit of a small timeskip right to the tournament, and with that it'll shift this story to take place after FFI. Get ready for the tournament!)
