Harrison's POV

He didn't know when it happened but the runic sequence in his shoulder had changed. The feeling of being changed within his skin had disappeared. Grindelwald must have changed it during the night. Not that he was complaining at this point.

During the last few days leading up to the full moon's approach the wizard had surprisingly been distant. It made Harrison suspicious of his intentions at first. Now he was just relieved to be able to shift between forms again.

The first thing he had done that morning after he ate was go outside and shift. It was like a weight had been lifted from his shoulders. His wolf form like his human one was next to skin and bones. Stress from the war playing a large part into his loss of weight. His fur was a black as the night sky and his eyes just as green as his human one's.

Harrison chased through the snow allowing himself to enjoy the first taste of freedom since the war started. Even trapped within the wards he had plenty of space to run. And run he did.

The wards had been expanded some and it gave him more room. As night fell he was making his way back to the castle. Then he heard a howl and his head swung in the direction. Ears were alert as he listened.

The howls were quickly approaching his position. Curiosity got the best of him and he howled in return. Alert he was still surprised by the pack of wolves that appeared. Their colors varied and they appeared to be young. Adolescent wolves if he had to guess.

To his surprise the wards allowed them in and Harrison ran out to meet them. A few seconds of greeting had them chasing each other through the snow. As the full moon rose he could feel human eyes upon them but they werent unfriendly.

Harrison ignored them in favor of allowing his instincts to take flight. A game of chase ensued and by the end of the night he had made invaluable allies. As expected of a young pack they were going to leave. Even with the fun they had, had it was not the place they wished to call home.

Europe wasnt safe for their kind humans were hellbent on hunting them to extinction. It was why so many took to the mountains. In Harrison's time the only wolves left in the wild were magical or thoee that hid in the mountains.

As they made to leave the alpha looked back at Harrison. The young man hesitated but shook his head. No even if he could get out the Dark Lord would chase them down. If he betrayed the slight trust he was given the entire pack would likely be destroyed. There were too few wolves left as it was.

The other seemed to shrug as they left. Harrison had to wonder if he would ever see them again. It would be nice to have someone to run with during the full moons. Not that he'd ever tell Grindelwald that. Something told him he would find a way to trap the wolves if he did mention it.

Wolves were not meant to be caged and he could not subject another to this life. In order to protect those that werent his own. It was simply to protect all those he could. Hermione called it his hero complex.

Well she wasnt exactly wrong. He couldnt help himself but try to save everyone he could. Harrison wasnt under any illusion that when the prophecy had been told and he was the one that was attack. That it was how Dumbledore planned it. The old bastard wanted him malleable and he had fallen right for it.

It was only now after the fact that he realized it. Now that Harrison thought about it, it was probably a good thing he was kept here. If he saw the old man here there was a good chance he wouldnt be able to stop himself from tearing the other's throat out. That would be a drastic change to the timeline. No telling what that would do to the future.

As he returned to the castle he shifted back into his human skin. He stumbled slightly at the change. It was disorienting to change from one self to the other after so long.

At his second stumble a warm pair of arms encased him. Too tired to really argue against it he grumbled, "This doesnt mean I forgive you for kidnapping me, Grindelwald."

All he got was a chuckle in return as he was led gently back to his room.
