Forgiveness
Mithrandir sighed as he left the library. If it weren't for the throbbing headache he now sported thanks to being hung upside down for too long, he might have found the whole thing rather amusing. The thought of seeing two identical white rabbits hopping around the gardens of Imladris brought a wry smile to his face, though he knew he would never actually get around to transforming the twins into the little animals. Unfortunately, I will have to forgive them some time or other, he reflected. But it is not this day. No, I think it will do them some good to live in fear of the wizard they have angered.
A devious smile suddenly lit up his face as a different idea came to him. Swiftly carrying out his plan – with the help of his staff – he waited eagerly for the twins to come sulking into their room. Sure enough, not long after he concealed himself behind a pillar, Elladan and Elrohir appeared, having escaped their parents for the time being.
They opened their door and stopped short in surprise. Dozens of white rabbits were perched on every visible piece of furniture. Some were happily munching on papers or bedsheets, but the moment the door opened, the whole mob swarmed towards the twins, escaping into the hallways.
Mithrandir laughed delightedly, revealing himself to the gaping brothers. 'No hard feelings, you two. Simply know that, should this happen a second time, retribution will be harsher than having to chase fifty rabbits through your father's house.'
