Disclaimer: House sadly is not mine.
A/N: This is set after Vogler but with Stacey…however since it's my idea I've decided to make it that Cameron didn't know about her husbands illness before they were married…it makes the outcome of my idea more plausible. Thanks.
The most painful thing to do is to watch someone die, that's why Dr. Gregory House never got to know the patients. No connections, no pain; simple as that, end of story. What did hurt was the one time he let patients reach him; he will never forget her…the one patient he couldn't save and yet she was more accepting of her fate than he was of his own!
It had been months since her, Voglar had come and gone and so had the disastrous date with Dr. Cameron. She was a puzzle he couldn't work out, who would marry a man who was dying? Who would find him so attractive that she would blackmail him into a date? Let alone actually sit there and take all the bullshit he was feeding her! She had hardly said a full sentence to him since the date; unless you count her last one liner, "I thought you were too screwed up to love anyone. I was wrong. You just couldn't love me. It's ok, I'm happy for you" That last one liner was the reason Dr House was currently sitting in his office with a half empty bottle of scotch and General Hospital.
"Still here" Stacey's voice floated in ripping at his heart again
"You know me, rather be here earlier than give Cuddy an excuse to 'spank' me" House pulled of his sarcastic remark with the desired effect.
"Well, Mark's doing better…thank you, I don't know what I would've done without him" Stacey stated
"You would've survived" House replied suddenly serious, "You always do" House got up to leave
"Greg…"Stacey begun
"What!" House snapped, "What could you possibly want Stacey?"
"Mark…and YOU can't handle that! Instead you lock yourself up with your General Hospital and scotch! So forgive me…" once again Stacey was cut off
"You think I am in here because of YOU and Mark? Has your ego grown that much or have you forgotten…YOU LEFT ME!" House spat sitting to relieve his throbbing leg, "You left me Stacey…with this" House pointed to his bung leg
"Are you going to continue to make me feel guilty for one bad decision?" Stacey snapped
"I have the right to! It's PERMANENT! A constant reminder of you and the gaping hole you not only left in my leg…but in ME! I can't trust anymore! All I had was Wilson, then Cuddy and Cameron…and now I've lost Cameron too! I loose everything because of you Stacey. So yes, I will continue to make you feel bad for your wrong decision!" House roared before storming as fast as his cane could take him, leaving a shell shocked Stacey in his wake.

"How could she…typical! Everything is about her! Great where did I park my car?" House muttered to himself
"Dr House?" Cameron's voice sounded from a nearby car
"Bloody hell Cameron, didn't your mummy ever tell you not to scare cripples? It's not nice" House whined
Cameron blushed, "Sorry, my car won't start, I've been sitting her for ages" she explained
"Don't you own a bloody cell phone? Or did you forget the clinic has a pay phone?" House chuckled, slightly amused at the rumpled young doctor
"I locked my keys in the car out of frustration, and if you hadn't realized it's past midnight, the clinic is closed unless an emergency is sent here" Cameron continued to explain
"Well…let's see, there's also one in the office!" House replied triumphantly
"Went to try it, sounded like my house at any big holiday or event" Cameron blushed again
"Oh" House began to study his shoes" Would you like a lift then? I can't have one of my ducklings catching a cold in that rain" 'Damn Greg too soft!'
"If you don't mind…ah crap never mind, my house keys are on my car keys, so I might as well just stay here" Cameron began to walk towards the elevators
'Quick Greg before she gets away this time!' "Uh…Cameron wait…that usually means the person stops!" House called, Cameron spun around
"Yes House?" Cameron yawned
'Damn she looks really tired' "It's the weekend, no point staying overnight here if none of us actually have to work tomorrow. Why don't you just stay at my place tonight and tomorrow I'll let you borrow my phone to call the car company" House offered for once letting slide the snide, sarcastic remarks in hope that she would forget it by tomorrow.
"Are you sure?" Cameron asked softly
"No, but as long as you don't let my one night off to anyone, then you can forget any re-offers" House grumbled
"You do realize you made absolutely no sense?" Cameron giggled
"Yea well, get in" House unlocked the passenger side door
After climbing in the car Cameron relaxed against the cool leather and closed her eyes. House then clambered in trying to find a place for his cane now that Cameron had taken its usual spot. Without asking Cameron reached over and took the cane, placed it delicately on her lap and closed her eyes again.
"Thanks" House mumbled before finally getting in the car properly.
The drive to House's townhouse was rather quiet until a soft snore from Cameron indicated to House just how tired she really was. Pulling into his car park he didn't know whether to wake her or just let her sleep in the car.
'She looks so beautiful, House you idiot! You could have had all this' House thought to himself before waking her. "Cameron come on we're here" House gently shook her, no response. "Come on Cameron wake up!" House shook her a little harder, still no response. He sighed, "Damn it Allison, you make my life so much more complicated" House muttered
"I'm sorry" Cameron whispered, her eyes still closed. House was about to respond when she continued. "I'm sorry ok! No damn it John! I'm not leaving you!" a tear slipped down her cheek, "I said in sickness and in health Jon! If I had known when we took our vows I still would have taken them! We didn't know John! Please don't shut me out!" Cameron woke with a start to see an almost pale House, "House, what's wrong?"
A/N: Hope you liked the beginning, I realize it is a very short beginning but I just wanted to test how people think this is.
