Chapter 17 – Surprises
Parent's Day had finally arrived. The school was filled with many students and even more parents and older siblings; Kuoh was well and truly full.
'Ok class, today we are going to explore our creativity.' Declared the teacher of Issei's class.
Issei stared in confusion at the lump of clay on his desk.
"Why are we working with clay… in Japanese language class?" Thought Issei completely flabbergasted.
'Now, just let your inner eye see the image you want in the clay and bring it out. Try and materialise your thoughts and expressions onto it.' Instructed the teacher, as the parents standing at the back of the room watched in excitement.
'Oh dear, look at Asia, she looks so cute.' Commented Issei's mum.
'Ah, but look at Yuuma, she is staring at her block of clay with such intense concentration.' Added Issei's father.
"Uh, aren't I their son?" Questioned Issei, as he absentmindedly worked the clay.
'Don't be too offended partner, most would rather focus on a cute girl than a brutish boy.' Commented Ddraig.
"Hey, I'm not brutish… I think." Thought Issei, as he continually moulded the clay in the image that was stored in his subconscious.
'Oh my, it seems we have quite an artist here today, that is a marvellous art piece Issei.' Commented the teacher, snapping Issei out of his thoughts, as he looked at what he had created.
Everyone in the class, including all the parents, looked at what Issei had created. It was a sculpture of a voluptuous woman with long hair. Issei had even managed to finely depict her attire, being that of a headband and simple platform sandals, along with a kimono with an obi, from which, hung multiple beads. The kimono hung loosely off her shoulders and gave view to her rather larger cleavage, the odd aspect from an otherwise normal sculpture of a woman however, were the two catlike ears the figure possessed along with two tails.
'Uh, oh thanks, it just came to me I suppose.' Replied Issei bashfully to the teacher.
The rest of the students gathered around and stared intently at the sculpture.
'Wow it is really detailed.' Commented Murayama.
'Just look at the boobs on that girl… Issei who is this girl, don't tell me you've been hiding a beauty like this from us?' Asked Motohama.
'But why does it have tails and cat ears, surely it can't be a real person then, maybe he just made it on the spot?' Suggested Katase.
'I don't think so, for this kind of detail Issei must have been very familiar with someone who looks just like this, I doubt anyone could create such a fine work from scratch.' Hypothesised Kiryuu.
"Uh, maybe it wasn't a good idea to materialise my thoughts like this…" Thought Issei, as he noticed Raynare give a scrutinising glance at the sculpture, before opening her mouth to speak.
"Oh God, this isn't going to end well, I can feel it Ddraig?" Thought Issei nervously.
'Is that sculpture of your first kiss? Although, with the tails and ears, I never took you to be a furry.' Commented Raynare innocently.
"Why Ddraig? Why didn't I just let that stupid fallen angel go when I had the chance?" Lamented Issei internally, as everyone suddenly got much more interested in the sculpture.

'Ara, Ara, she seems like quite a beauty?' Commented Akeno, as she, along with Rias, Asia and Raynare examined Issei's sculpture.
'I'm guessing this must be why you have a thing for big boobs if this was your first kiss.' Commented Raynare, with a hint of grudging respect for the physique of the woman the figure was modelled on.
'Well, I'm the winner then since I have the biggest.' Quipped Akeno playfully, causing Raynare to scowl slightly.
'Mine are perkier.' Retorted Raynare, before Akeno and her descended into competition once again.
'Issei, I suppose I should say that there aren't a great deal many people with two tails and cat-like ears in the world. I'm sure Akeno no doubt realised as well.' Commented Rias quietly, as she glanced at her currently giggling queen.
'*sigh* Trust me Rias, you don't know the full story, I was there, that person… I'm sure you know who, is responsible for almost half of all my hate for devils. She was right to do what she did, for her sibling's sake.' Said Issei mournfully, as he gazed at the figure in his hand fondly.
Rias didn't say anything to this, but did file away the rather large piece of information Issei had inadvertently given her on his past.
'Magic Girl photoshoot!' Shouted a cluster of male students, who ran towards the gym in a hurry, some brandishing cameras as well.
'Magical Girl!' Exclaimed Rias in surprise.
'Uh, what's the big deal?' Questioned Issei in confusion.
Rias didn't answer and merely turned to Akeno and nodded at her. Akeno nodded back and the two left leaving a disgruntled Raynare and a confused Asia and Issei.
'What happened?' Asked Asia in innocent curiosity.
'No idea, but let's follow them.' Said Issei.

Issei, Raynare and Asia arrived just in time to see Saji telling off the crowd of students, who were taking photos of a girl cosplaying as a magical girl.
"Holy crap who is that person!" Thought Issei in shock at the massive power he felt.
The girl was rather beautiful with long, black hair tied in twin ponytails and baby-blue eyes. Oddly though, she had a child-like body, coupled with large breasts. She was dressed in magical girl's clothing from Magical Girl Milky Spiral Seven, with a magic wand and all.
"Her power so does not match her appearance." Thought Issei inwardly, as he walked closer to the stage with Raynare and Asia following him.
'Saji what is the cause for this disturbance?' Thundered Sona, as she suddenly slammed the door to the gymnasium open.
'Sona I found you.' Commented the girl, as she stepped away from Saji and jumped down the platform.
'Sona, big sister is here.' Declared the girl happily, as she jogged up to Sona.
'Big… sister…' Muttered Issei gobsmacked.
'I wish you would look happier than that. We'll call each other's names, embrace and then have some great Yuri action.' Continued the girl as she animatedly swayed, shaking her breasts and magical wand in excitement.
'That's what I'd like to happen.' Concluded the girl, as she got very close to Sona's face.
'What is with this girl?' Asked Issei in confusion.
'That is Serafall Leviathan, one of the four Satans.' Explained Rias, as she walked up to Issei with Akeno.
'She is actually the Student Council President's older sister, although this is my first time meeting her.' Added Saji, as Rias went to greet her.
'Uh, did she just say she was going to invade Heaven because Sona didn't tell her about today… is she joking?' Asked Issei shocked.
'Um… yeah?' Replied Saji unsurely.
Issei walked over to a hyperactive Serafall who was darting around Sona who looked to be close to losing it.
Serafall was abruptly stopped when she felt a hand place itself on top of her hat. Serafall paused and for a brief moment stopped smiling as she felt the power of the person, before regaining her happy expression.
'You know it isn't nice to pester your sister so much? Can't you see she has trouble showing her affection in public?' Asked Issei.
'Mou, but Sona is my little sister, it is my job to be affectionate with her. You just want to get in the way of our beautiful Yuri moment.' Accused Serafall, as she turned to face Issei.
'Stop that.' Said Issei firmly as he lightly whacked her on the head, surprising everyone in the room.
'You know Sona cares for you, but you are pressuring her, a bond between siblings is special, but you can't make the other uncomfortable. Now apologise to Sona and make up.' Ordered Issei with a smirk.
Rias and Saji were both gobsmacked at Issei so casually talking down one of the leaders of the Underworld.
'*sniff* I'm sorry Sona, I didn't mean to upset you.' Cried Serafall, as she leapt at Sona and hugged her.
'That's enough.' Said Issei, to which Serafall subduedly acquiesced.
'The Satans of this generation are certainly unique.' Commented Ddraig.
"Unique? They are bat-shit crazy." Retorted Issei.
'Issei, I take back every bad thing I have ever said to you, please join my peerage.' Said Sona, with an almost maniac gleam in her eye.
'Uh, I'd rather not.' Said Issei, as he took a hesitant step back, starting to feel uneasy.
'How can you refuse my dear Sona?' Questioned Serafall with a pout.
Issei slowly took another step back, as two pairs of pleading eyes gazed intently at him. Luckily, Issei was saved, ironically, by another person with a massive sister complex.
'Ah, Serafall, there you are.' Sirzechs exclaimed, as he entered the gymnasium, garbed in a three piece suit with a green tie and yellow vest.
'Big brother.' Gasped Rias in surprise.
'Oh, and my darling little sister Rias too.' Commented Sirzechs with a smile.
Issei meanwhile, was taking this opportunity to slowly edge back towards Raynare, Asia, Akeno and Saji who were merely watching. The two fallen angels however, unnoticed to Issei, looked at each other and in a surprising moment of clarity, both agreed on something. The two stood behind Issei and waited until he bumped into them. Issei slowly turned and noticed two sadistic smirks.
'Issei, how could you leave Lady Serafall when she wants something from you?' Questioned Akeno, getting everyone to focus their attention back on Issei.
Serafall instantly ran up to Issei and stared up at him, getting him to shift uneasily, as he felt her power fluctuate somewhat.
Issei breathed in deeply before saying something shocking.
'Fine then bring it on you big breasted loli, I've already kicked one Leviathan's ass and I'll add your cute little one to the list!' Shouted Issei.
'You've done it now.' Commented Ddraig.
"Shut up, I can take them, I don't know why but I'm getting antsy for a fight anyway and I feel heaps of energy waiting to explode from within me." Retorted Issei uncaringly.
'Hmm, that might be because the seal broke.' Guessed Ddraig.
'WHAT!' Shouted Issei aloud.
Everyone in the gymnasium thought he was taunting Serafall with his loud exclamation, but it was actually aimed at Ddraig.
'You fought a Leviathan?' Asked Sirzechs seriously, as he walked up behind Serafall, who had also adopted a strangely serious expression.
Issei snapped back to the current situation and mentally cursed.
'Yeah, what of it? She was a really haughty one as well and needing a good ass pounding.' Replied Issei coolly, as he crossed his arm with a huff.
'Really, ass pounding… choose your words better next time partner.' Said Ddraig.
'Oh, I wouldn't mind a good ass pounding myself, I do like it rough.' Commented Akeno from behind Issei, getting Saji to almost faint at the images invading his mind, while the younger devils all blushed, aside from Asia, who looked confused.
'I call dibs.' Quipped Raynare.
'Issei, would you care to explain?' Questioned Sirzechs still rather serious.
'*sigh* I suppose, but if you want answers, I can give them at the meeting.' Said Issei tiredly.
'Very well, that is acceptable.' Agreed Sirzechs, before looking at Serafall momentarily.
'Big breasted loli… I've never heard that one before.' Commented Sirzechs with a laugh.
'Nope, you know what, screw this, I'm out, I've had too much to deal with today, I'm going home.' Declared Issei, as he turned on his heel and walked straight out of the gymnasium, the door closing behind him.
Everyone was silent for a moment, before seemingly snapping back to reality.
'Ne Sirzechs, you didn't tell me the Red Dragon Emperor was so much fun.' Said Serafall, as her expression started to shift into a devious smirk.
'Well, he is rather unpredictable, although I do feel a little bad for him now that you are interested in him.' Replied Sirzechs.
'Mou, what is that supposed to mean?' Questioned Serafall with a pout, momentarily adopting her childlike mask.
'Nothing I guess.' Replied Sirzechs easily.
'Well I just decided to use his assumptions against him. If he wants to treat me like a child, I can use that to my advantage. You know just how well I can manipulate people; I can have some fun with him.' Said Serafall in delight, as she licked her lips hungrily and chuckled throatily.
"Ah Issei, to have made Serafall interested in you, you are going to be very busy from now on I'm sure. Especially with the old Serafall showing up again." Thought Sirzechs.
-line break-
"Ddraig what's going on? I'm getting a lot more… playful… is there something else you have neglected to tell me? You know, aside from forgetting to tell me THE BLOODY SEAL IS BROKEN!" Issei mentally shouted.
'Ah, well, I suppose I've neglected to mention a few things…' Said Ddraig somewhat teasingly.
"Such as?" Queried Issei.
'Hmm, well let's see, Ophis' eye now makes you an even stronger, if you will, "ladies man", also your hormones are now amplified to a much greater extent… I'm sure you can figure out what that means, you saw your mood swings just a moment ago, and lastly, you may or may not, for lack of a better term, go into heat temporarily. Not in the conventional sense of course, but your emotions are all going to be much more intense, meaning it will now be a lot harder for you to maintain you usual, somewhat stoic demeanour.' Explained Ddraig with a smirk.
Issei paused on his way back to his house and had one thought.
"Damn." Thought Issei.
'It isn't so bad, after all, this is just another step in your body adapting. That is the reason why you have been acting so weirdly since you came back to Kuoh. First you became withdrawn, then irritable, followed by arrogance. After that you became anxious and once the angel appeared to you, confused and nervous. Then thanks to the Nekomata you became kind and afterwards happy and we finally arrive today at playful and rash.' Explained Ddraig calmly.
"So this is me going through the spectrum of emotions and feelings until my body adjusts then?" Concluded Issei slightly confused.
'Precisely, however what is still yet to come are some of the more unpleasant emotions, namely rage and sadness, I'm not sure when you will go through them and it will eventually pass, but, hopefully you don't end up doing or saying anything stupid like you did a short while ago. ' Answered Ddraig.
"Hey! You yourself just said that wasn't my fault, besides, it's not like I did it on purpose." Defended Issei.
'Well, revealing too much of your past will be bad, keep in mind I've been with you through all of it, but no one else, not even Ophis knows exactly what has happened to you after you first awakened me. With you blurting out Leviathan like that however, there exists the distinct possibility that people will now dig deeper into your past and may discover something that you would prefer remain secret.' Warned Ddraig.
"Well, I know I at least covered most of my tracks well, it is really just two factions that can cause me trouble and hopefully, with this meeting, they will eliminate one of them for me." Thought Issei.
'In any case, maybe you should keep walking, since standing in the street like this will draw attention.' Advised Ddraig.
Issei resumed walking after a moment and entered his house, which was empty since his parents were no doubt still at the school. Issei walked up to his room and unpacked his books, placed the clay statue he had made on his desk and gazed at it fondly, before stripping and heading into the shower. After fifteen minutes, Issei came out with a towel around his waist and another which was currently rubbing his face.
"Wait a minute, this scent." Thought Issei, as he paused while rubbing his face.
'Oh, I didn't know you missed me this much Issei, nya.' Commented a sensual, teasing voice.
The towel fell from Issei's hands. As it fell to the ground, Issei saw the exact replica of the figure he had made in school, in the flesh.
'Kuroka.' Gasped Issei.
The voluptuous Nekomata turned away from the sculpture to look at Issei and winked at him playfully.
'Hi Issei, miss me, nya?' Teased Kuroka.
AHA! I told you all Issei was strong, but a bunch of you got upset when I gave that power ranking thing back in chapter 3 which showed Dohnaseek being stronger than Issei. I explained that I had everything up to the end of the first four light novels planned, but, no one believed me. Now you see the truth, Issei is strong… or at least you will see it in a couple of chapters. The explanation for the seal will be touched upon lightly in a couple of chapters, but won't be properly explained until I reach the equivalent of LN 9 or so, I say that because with Issei not being a devil, events will be different, but that is around the time of when you will get your explanation.
Also, it seems most of you guessed right in Kuroka being the first kiss. I suppose that was pretty obvious, as going off what I've said, including how Issei isn't sure if he should see Ophis as a boy or girl, Kuroka was the logical guess.
In somewhat more disappointing news, while I do have the next chapter done I won't upload it until later this month as I have my end of semester exams for uni this month and want to focus on them for a while. Sorry about that, but if it helps, I'm about a quarter of the way through chapter 19 and the meeting will take place either late into chapter 19 or chapter 20. Some of you find the pacing of the story a bit slow but I really want to get as much development done now as I can because after the meeting, Issei will start being somewhat of a lone wolf and won't interact too much with a lot of the group except for… Raynare.
If you like Raynare, then after chapter 21 or so, prepare for quite a bit of Issei/Raynare stuff. On the subject of Raynare, I love how they are keeping her present in the recent anime season, such a shame she had to be so evil and petty in canon and died in the first LN… oh well, that is what FF is for.
In any case, if Ichiei Ishibumi is somehow reading this, I really hope he figures out some way to bring back Raynare and make her somewhat nicer, i.e. apologise to Issei and Asia and join the gang… but even then I'm pretty sure that'll only happen in my dreams. *sigh* Oh well.
In addition to Raynare though, Xenovia and to a lesser extent Ravel, Xuelan and Karlamine will be touched upon as well, although Raynare will be the main focus. However, Rias, Akeno, Kuroka, Kiba, Asia, Koneko, Ophis and Vali won't be touched on much at all… actually, Vali might be touched upon briefly and maybe Ophis too, it depends how my plans go. However, the devils will most certainly not be featuring for a while. Since Issei isn't a devil, throughout the events of LN 5 Issei will be doing his own things. The rating games will be happening, but they will be in the background as Issei will be pursuing his own interests.
Touching on what I said above and leading from my comments on the anime, if you noticed I said Serafall has blue eyes as in the LN, instead of violet as she does in the anime, what that was supposed to subtly hint at is that I will follow the LN timeline and not the anime. I also wanted to make the point that Serafall was the original Kyonyuu loli not Hestia… that being said, I don't know why so many people hate Hestia, but I think I'm getting off topic now…
To sum up though, while the anime is enjoyable, I honestly feel they made a big mistake mixing things up as they did, just to introduce Rossweisse early. Dxd had a good flow of events and the anime really mashed things up so that things that needed to be emphasised, were underemphasised, like Akeno meting her father early (COME ON DAMNIT, THAT IS A HUGE MOMENT), and they are really exacerbating Rossweisse's status of not having a boyfriend and continually coming back to that (but to be fair, they did at least show she is smart… before going back to the single thing…) which annoys me, especially given how cool she gets later on.
If that was too long for you all to read, I will summarise really quickly:

Light Novel greater than Anime (for some reason I can't put up a greater than symbol)
Exams = no updates till late June
And lastly, I hope more people will try to write an Issei/Raynare fic as they are really scarce on this site.
