House and John piled into the family pickup and drove into town, "So Greg, what possessed you to ask Ally to marry you?" John broke their silence
"To be honest, I'm not entirely sure, there has been something there since the beginning but I've been avoiding it for a long time. I wasn't going to marry, never going to let someone in but she saw right through me" House replied
"She does that, smart girl in all aspects…she can even sing, dance and do bar work" John smiled proudly
"Allison can do bar work?" House's eyebrow rose
John looked at House, "She never told you?"
"No never, I don't even think Foreman and Chase know" House was astounded, sweet and caring Cameron could work a bar.
"She was proud of it, she used to work at the bar just over there" John pointed across the road. House looked, seemed to be an ok place. "Now this is where you need to be to find that important thing of yours" John grinned, pulling over in front of a shop.
The two men got out of the pickup and walked towards the shop, "Best jewellery in town" John explained, "Some of it's that fancy we can't even afford it"
"Money is no problem" House stated looking through the front window.
"Let's go in and see if they have what you're looking for" John opened the door, House followed him in.
House looked through every case, twice. He saw rings in varying size, shapes and colours. Stopping he pulled out his mobile, speed dialling he waited, "Hey, favourite colour? Silver…ok thanks see you soon" House hung up, John looked at him expectantly, "Allison" House justified.
"Can I look at that one there?" House pointed at a three set tear drop. The tear drop was white diamond, while the two stone either side of it were yellow diamonds, clustered together on a beautiful silver band. "Perfect, what do you think?"
John looked at it, "Oh my…that's…it's just perfect, she'll love it" John grinned, "Oh sizing!" he pulled Cameron's ring out of his pocket and got the rings sized.
"You've got the perfect woman there sir" the clerk smiled, "Perfect sizing"
"She is the perfect woman" House smiled, he couldn't remember smiling so much, maybe this was a big mistake. Being around these people and Cameron was wearing off on him.
"Do you want it wrapped up?" the clerk asked
"Yes thanks" House answered, his thoughts were still on how could he have changed so much in one week.
"Here you go" the handed the box over, House took it stowing it away in his jacket pocket before handing over the money. "Have a good day, see you tomorrow John"
"See you Henry" John and House left the shop, "Guess we should get some beer now"
"Yea I guess so" House was still in a daze
"When are you going to give her the ring?"
"When we get home, or tonight…or never" House laughed, "There's something you should know, I'm not a nice man, I'm miserable, I'm cripple, I deliberately make people cry and I don't like attachments…at all, I end up ignoring them, neglecting them or pushing them away. What if I screw this up royally?"
John looked at him, "I see that you're a cripple, but it's not the leg that makes you one. My daughter loves you, so that means she doesn't care and can probably handle it. You haven't seemed one bit miserable all week, so maybe you just like being miserable to hide from the world. You screw it up royally, Ally will be there to bring you home, she always will. That's my Ally for you always grounding people"
"So you're not scared I'm going to hurt her?"
"From what I've seen you already have, but she forgave you and so will I" they pulled up at the bottle shop, "Anything you prefer to beer?"
"Scotch but beers ok" House replied getting out of the car.
They bought three more slabs of beer, three bottles of wine for the women, and two bottles of scotch. The scotch was argued over, House wanted to pay for the scotch…John wouldn't allow it. 'Since when did I offer to pay for anything?'

"Honey we're home, where can I put the wine?" John called
"In the fridge dear, Greg could you help Ally cut up these few vegies?" Harriet called
"Sure" House walked in, placing the scotch on the table Cameron laughed, "What?"
"Scotch?"
"It's my favourite drink" House protested
"None with the pills then" Cameron shot him a pointed glare
"I won't, not tonight" House smiled innocently at her
"In that case, hand them over" Cameron outstretched her hand, "And don't start, Cuddy isn't here to stop me"
"Evil woman" he muttered under his breath, "What do I need to cut?"
Cameron pushed over some carrots, cucumber and tomatoes, "These"
"Why thank you, I'll remember this for next time your in the lab wondering what to do" House grinned
"I know what to do in the lab" Cameron pointed out
"Then…I can't even think of anything!" House cried, "This is so depressing"
"You're so depressing, now cut…family will be here soon" Cameron whispered
"I know the whole shebang!" House grinned, "I was filled in on the way in town"
"Thank God someone has their head on" Cameron laughed, "Mum wasn't going to tell us at all"
"I've been through worse"
"Really?"
"You haven't met my whole family yet"
"Yet?"
"Yea, you're the one who said yes" House smirked
